It's strange.
I haven't even gotten so much as a single game over when I played SMRPG on the VC.
Not even the Breaker Beam, or the final battle had me batting an eye.

Well these were the only guys I had trouble with. That time I ran to catch them and I didn't go restock after I beat the Czar Dragon. Then I replaced Bowser and Geno with Mallow and Peach for group attacks, didn't have a problem after that.

l-Kathulu-l Well these were the only guys I had trouble with. That time I ran to catch them and I didn't go restock after I beat the Czar Dragon. Then I replaced Bowser and Geno with Mallow and Peach for group attacks, didn't have a problem after that.
Admittedly, Mallow kinda fell out of use once Peach came along, in terms of healing. Not only that, she was a freakin' TANK.

I'm going through the castle now, just got done with 4 out of the 4 doors I need to do.

Give Peach the super secret gamebreaker armor and she'll never take more than maybe 30-50 from even Jinx and the Optional Super Boss from Final Fantasy, Culex.

I use Geno and Peach as my optional party members. As much a badass brute Bowser is, Geno is significanty more badass.
I did use two save files though and went through the second play through with Mallow and Bowser.
Edit: Smithy used Meteor Shower! Party Wiped!
