As the choir and the young Chi's voice filled the Cathedral and received much praise. Pascal took note of more faces. One of the faces stood out in particular. That was the face of Pandora. The Mother to us all. Pascal maintained his grin. So many faces, so many people who praised the lord. It filled him with unbridled euphoria. The face of elder Matthews he knew held confidence.
As soon as the choir concluded and things grew silent aside for the innate shuffling of legs and the random short but quickly silenced outbursts from young children. The Cathedral became darker than usual perhaps because a obstruction had roamed over the rising sun for a brief moment in time. Then the glow of the candles would relight the room cloaking it an a fine array of flaming lights as the brief shadow emphasized their presence and attention to the podium. Pascal would step forward. Then speak his words in a voice booming loud and clearer than the most refined pools of drinking water. His tongues projections like a refreshing wave for the ears.
"Dearly beloved we are gathered here today for a momentous occa... Oh I apologize it seems I'm giving the wrong sermon."Some of the audience in the chapel be they vampire or human chuckled but like-wise many stayed stone faced and unmoved by such a corny form of joke.
"Although this brings me to the topic of today's sermon. That is, my fellow church goers, regret. It's something we've all had and if not in past tense then lets make that a present have. There are things you wish you hadn't done and if it is not something you hadn't done it's something you have done. Even just the little things like forgetting where you put your kids favorite toy, messing up on a test because you refused to study for, or even just dropping a pencil. The point is wherever whenever and whatever you do one of them is bound to end up not exactly the way you planned. Those who have regrets at this very moment raise your hands. Like regretting coming to church today because you expected another more proficient preacher to be spreading the word of god?"Pascal paused some members of the church raised their hands, others refused taking it as an insult to their pride, others not paying attention or to lazy to bother and ignored the whole statement all together. Then Pascal raised his hand.
"You can put your hands down. It's true, even I have a regret at this very moment. That regret being why can't I make myself a better person. Hold on, in the eyes of the lord there is no better person! People often claim that because they have lots of regrets they see themselves as inferior to those who have less. Or in another case a person with a small regret in comparison to a large one, the person who holds the larger feels less important or an awful person. Though we know that our lord is a merciful lord, a forgiving lord, and most importantly an all powerful lord. Our god, lord god, can forgive the most out of anyone in current existence and even in past existence. So long as they are willing to accept him into their heart get on their knees and pray for redemption."He paused, he and inhaled for a more empowering verse. These next words were loud enough to reverberate around the whole cathedral that one could say it produced a minuscule echo.
"Father Pascal my regrets are a spawn of absolutely unforgivable sin there is no possible way for me to redeem them! Nonsense! This is what makes our God a all merciful one! If you seek redemption you will find redemption! Even if you are at a loss so long as you believe that God will help you bring these regrets to end he will not smite you for it! In return he will thank you for it!"Pascal made his way back to the podium and from it removed the bible that rested upon it.
"If you would turn to today's pamphlet on its back you will read a verse from our bible. Quote:
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
"God is with you he is with all of us. Regardless of your regrets and the sins that have become tied to them. God is there and is willing to lend his helping hand, the rest is your choice, Will you accept gods righteous hand which will forever remain open to you even if you decline the first time?"Pascal paced himself with his breathing now his voice growing more calm. He then speaks again.
"Father Pascal I fear I will never receive gods hand. I feel alone, that there is no hope for me. I just want to end my life for all that I've done what should I do? Fret not. If you look just below the verse mentioned earlier you will find your answer. Quote:
Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it."
Ezra 10:4
"Another of my favorites. God will never forsake you even when it feels as if he has, he leaves you with his countless followers to assist you. There is always someone, even if you've yet to know them. The person who could aid you in your time of turmoil could be sitting right next to you or in your grocery line purchasing medication."Pascal returned to the podium he placed the bible down as if an ancient but valuable relic. His next words sounded sullen but considerate.
"Although there have been situations in which people truly have felt entirely helpless and have followed through with the earlier idea of slaying themselves. Some others letting their regrets consume them and their well being until the person they once were has become no more. Others still forming more regrets that slowly grow into an overwhelming mass of pain and hatred for oneself. Let us pray for these people. Pray that they find safety and sanctuary in the lords embrace. And pray that they will find the path of virtue that can aid them in their time of need."From here things grew silent Pascal began to pray his hands folded.
As many silenced themselves as well in prayer. Behind him two young childlike males one of vampire heritage and the other of human blood arrived with plates. Two elder men each with the separation in races arrived with the body of Christ. Two woman like wise bearing the same traits as their religious predecessors entered with the blood of Christ which was the traditional bitter grape wine.
This part of the Sermon had already consumed 37 minutes of time. The church goers would then partake in communion. After communion Pascal continued with his moving speeches and scenarios about Regrets and time to time added a corny joke to lighten the mood and return peoples attention. The church goers would engage in two more prayers, The choir would partake in two more songs. Then as the sermon grew close to the end Pascal brought something up to engage with the audience.
"As we near the end of today's sermon. I would like to ask if anyone has any regrets they would like to share. Remember everyone here in this cathedral is just like you and are willing to help you. They probably have their own regrets to talk to you about. If you have regrets I would like you to share them with your friends or your family, and if your feeling extra confident why not share it with the whole commune. Without further adieu that concludes today's sermon. As a note to all the night walkers it's going to be a good night today but don't party to hard all right hahaha." With that the chorus was free to sing a farewell tune for the leaving church attendees or simply disband. Pascal was negotiating with a human man who soon later left with a smile on his face. Later overhearing the moans an groans of younger children about how boring the church was and catching elderly old coots grumbles, who only go to church because their wife tell them to, complaining about how the seats make his bum hurt.
