After leaving the kitchen in a bit of a foul mood, Victoria made a bee-line for upstairs, showered, changed and was back on the first floor within fifteen minutes. Running a hand through her hair in an attempt to tame it, she made a sharp right turn at the bottom of the stairs, and retraced her steps until she found herself in the X-Garage once again. Conner was already there, rummaging through the keybox, so she entered and quietly shuffled towards him.
"The keys to the convertible are the ones with the 'I Heart Micky Mouse' key-chain," she hinted from somewhere near his right shoulder. Smiling just a little bit, she glanced up at him, curious as to weather he would take the bait or not.

Conner got the hint easily, he couldn't have missed it really. He looked at the keys and wrestled with the temptation, he had been told that the convertible belonged to one of the senior students and it was the guys pride and joy. Conner shook his head and mentally slapped himself. Why the dilemma? he asked himself. I've stolen things more expensive and a lot more sentimentally valuable. Conner took the keys off of the hok and spun them by the ring.
"Ok hen, let's roll." He jumped over the driver's side door and wriggled into a more comfortable position, one glance told ihm that he was too short and he scrabbled for the lever. "Just FYI, if we get caught." He said as his hands searched for the seat lever. "I am completely going to pin this on you." he warned. "Ah! there it is." he cried as his hand took hold of the lever, he pulled it and dragged the chair forward. "There we go." He slotted the key into the key hole and waited for Victoria.

"Yes!" celebrated Victoria, grinning broadly that her means of influence worked on Conner without arguments from either party. Taking a step back at Conner picked up the keys and twirled them happily in his outstretched pointer finger. He them motioned for her to follow him so they could get rolling, but she hardly needed it. No sooner then he had hopped into the drivers seat, Victoria had already rounded to the opposite side of the car and done the same.
"Fair enough," she said, shrugging off the fact that if they got caught, she was first candidate for taking all the blame. It had not come off as a surprise to her, considering 'borrowing' the car was her idea. Besides, she supposed it was only a matter of time before she got grounded for sweet talking Rouge into borrowing the car earlier that day.
"Ready when you are, Captain," she said, turning to look at Conner after buckling herself into the passengers seat.

'With a heavy heart I see those around me. With a heavy soul I recoil from their presence. Dare I not to approach and spread my arms, risking the chance of receiving their cruelty...'
Damon averted his gaze as Victoria left the room, his thoughts playing over these words, something from a novel he had read long ago. He had felt a sort of affinity for the character who had uttered them, no matter how ridiculous it had seemed to find oneself in such a book.
'Another chance at changing myself avoided. I am so like that character... too afraid now to expect anything but the coldness of others. But what is to assure that it wouldn't be the same as before?'
His stomach ached from his brooding, a pit seeming to form deep within him. He knew well the fate that had befallen the character in that book. He had long since forgotten the title of the story, but that character would never leave him, too much like him to be comfortable.
Suddenly wishing to just get out of that room, he turned to Sara, his head still kept low. He began another attempt to speak, mustering up as much of himself as he could to try and form the words. Thankfully, though they be in a shakey half-whisper, the words came out. He spoke each one slowly, as if uncertain if they were even the right ones to use.
"Uh... um... I-I would... like... to see the professor."

Conner grinned and turned the engine over. It sparked into life instantly. The temptation to floor the accelerator and leave a two thick black tyre marks over the garage floor as he pealed out but he bit it back as he gently shifted into gear and slightly pushed the accelerator pedal down and released the clutch then rolled quietly out of the garage and down the drive.
Once they were through the gate Conner turned towards the freeway and pushed the car as far as it could go and whooped as the speedometre needle passed ninety. "I think I'll have to 'borrow' this car until the X-van's fixed up." he said; enjoying the feel of the wind whipping past him. He chopped back on the speed as the elevated freeway came into view. "I hope you know where we're going, Victoria." He said to her before turning onto the on-ramp and speeding up the incline, matching the speed of the traffic and then fitting into the mass of cars.

Adjusting the seat so that she fit in it better, Victoria leaned back in the passengers seat as Conner moved the 'drive' gear and slowly peeled out of the garage. Within a minute, they had cleared the long drive up to the X-Mansion without any trouble, and found themselves approaching the highway. Grinning like a Cheshire cat, Victoria was relieved and slightly surprised that Conner was enjoying himself this much. Here they were, two teens, committing what could be considered grand theft auto, and here he was, smiling like a joker and driving like a maniac.
"Of course I do," said Victoria, as Conner asked if she knew where they were going. In reality, it was a half-lie, but she was not going to let that slide anytime soon. She had only been out in town on two other occasions, but was sure they could find what they were looking for without any troubles.
"Just head toward what is left of the mall," she said as Conner merged into the highway. "We should be able to find what we're lookin' for down there."

Blade sighed as she found herself roaming the streets again. She just couldn't find it in her to sleep. The powers at her fingertips were itching to be released. Yet she didn't know anything about them and, while wanting control, remembered how much her father had stressed on being careful with things she's unfamiliar with. Blade supressed a snort. "Unfamiliar, definately." She muttered to herself before looking to where her feet had lead her. A more . . . private area, that was for sure. In fact, Blade couldn't see any buildings at all. Just a long, long wall and some trees behind it. "Great, now I think I'm lost." Blade sighed to herself once again as she began to jog along the sidewalk beside the wall, hoping that she would find where the wall lead and then maybe, some kind of landmark.

Sara looked at him and nodded when he went to address hee. "The Professer?" She repeated before giving him a bright smile. "Sure, not a problem." She said and turned to start down the hallway. "His office is this-a-way." She said and marched off getting about seven steps before she paused to make sure that Damon was following her.

Damon made to follow her, but stopped, as if he had just noticed something that he hadn't earlier. Raising a hand to his face, he brushed the hair away to reveal his eyes. He then continued to follow Sarah with slow, steady steps.
Each step was quiet, barely making any noise as it connected with the floor. If a person wasn't focusing to hear him, it would seem he wasn't there in the first place. This silence was something he had learned, something that resulted from his day to day experiences. The less he was seen, the less he was heard, the better. It had come to the point where he was that face in the crowd you overlooked, that person who passes by but you never notice. He was invisible to most who didn't know him merely because he allowed himself to be.
And that is how Damon had liked it, though he wasn't sure about it anymore. Maybe had he been more visible to those around him, he might not have been so easily discarded. One can't miss what one never knew.
He stopped behind Sarah, waiting for her to continue on down the hall.

Comign to a stop, Blade looked at the gates. "Xavier insitute for the gifted." She read outloud from a sign on the wall. Scrunching her nose, she fought back a snort. "Great, now I'm gonna have to face a bunch of snort nosed eggheads." She gave out a sigh once again. It seemed that was all she coudl do lately. 'Should I bother with getting directions from these guys?' Blade asked herself as she began to wiegh her options.

Sarah was happy that Damon was followign her and noted when he lifted his hair from his eyes. "You've got perty eyes." She said honestly as they started onwards again. It didn't take them to long to reach the professers' office. "Well, here we are." She said and knocked on the mans door. She wasn't paying attention and knocked a little TOO hard. She rattled the whole door on it's frame with each knock.

Warmth spread across his face, Damon flushing as he heard Sarah's compliment. It caught him off balance, never having heard something like that from another person. Yet, any attempt he made to voice a reply ended with a confused sputter of mumbling. He really was quite hopeless when dealing with other people.
They arrived swiftly at the Professor's office, and he allowed Sarah to stay ahead of him. That was when she "knocked" on the door. Each knock caused Damon to wince, the loud rattling booms resounding down the hall. This girl... was a lot stronger than she looked. He wasn't intending to stare, but people tend to gawk when something unexpected happens.

Valerie had taken to sprawling herself over the sofa, her eyes glued to the television screen, the remote clamped in her mouth. It would appear she was bored, but this was the regular expression the Waterbeing took when watching the box.
Mizu was laying on his front on the floor with his tiny legs kicking back and forth in the air keenly observing what appeard to be a tv shopping network channel, a bimbo woman was blathering on about a necklace she was wearing and that it 'only' cost $3.000 dollars.
"Who'd have thought American tv would be such a kick in the pants borefest!"
The Blonde complained, though her words were barely makeoutable through the remote in her mouth. Mizu rolled over like a sausage and looked up at his mistress
"Oh yeah...and Japanese tv was any better....lets face it...all tv sucks!"
Valerie looked down to the creature on the floor with unfocused eyes. she didnt seem to be taking in any of the words. Then she let out a large yawn, the remote fell from her mouth and proceeded to fall through Mizu's little body.
"Oh...sorry about that....wanna get some food...or exercise?"
The teen asked letting herself roll of the sofa in a heap on the floor...straight on top of Mizu who dissapeard from sight. Valerie knew he had just gone into her body and lay on the floor wondering was it worth getting up and wasting the calories...

After leaving the kitchen unnoticed, as usual, Lance, not one to plan anything in advance, meandered vaguely through the recently expanded hall. Blowing a stray chunk of bangs from out of his vision, he realized for the second time today that he was bored to hell. Even worse, the activities that normally got him through days like this weren't interesting him. Hell, even jerking the chain of everyone's favorite X-Man, Scott Summers, was losing it's appeal.
Sighing heavily, he made up his mind to go see if he couldn't get his jeep up and running. From where he stood in the hall outside the kitchen, he had to pass by the living room where he knew Valerie and/or her water buddy were lurking. Not wanting to endure another rousing game of 'conversation' with either of them, he attempted to shuffle past the couch where they lurked without being noticed.
It was a one in a million chance that he would make out alive, but he was bored enough to take that risk...
=====
"Come in, Damon. Sara."
The Professor, having woken up some just over a quarter of an hour ago, was still suffering from the effects of X-23's neuro-disk, winced visibly at Sara 'tapped' on his office door. Thanks to her mutation, of course, each small tap was more like a pounding from a battering ram them anything. The door rattled uneasily in the frame and the hinges creaked from the strain.
He supposed he'll have to replace that, sooner or later.
