The only time I've used different strength is when my BD thought it would work to lower my noise levels.

On my Bassoon I started on Medium, then got one on Medium Soft. I loved it but that one broke, so then I went out and the only store that carries them only had Med Hard, so I got those. s**t sucked. Had to shave a lot of the wood off. Then I got one custom made. It barely plays, and now all my other ones give me a shitty tone and a really loud buzzing noise.
So within 8 months I went through 5 reeds. That's a lot for a Bassoon

One of my reeds costs as much as a box of yours. Thats not fair.
And for Bassoon you aren't supposed to put your teeth on the reed. I had my embouchure the same as I had it when i played sax, so one of my reeds was bitten in half. And one has two marks from my canine teeth from how I held it in my mouth when i was soaking it
