gaia_nitemareleft Have I understood correctly that the campaigning in the US is more like finding dirt on your opponents than bringing out actually important points? That's at least how it seems when I look at the news they feature in here. sweatdrop gaia_angelright

Officer Hot-Pants Maybe Australia? Heh... or Amsterdam. Well, the tourists there are the happiest in the world, anyway. Most of 'em, at least. Don't really think "dark and broody" when I think of Finland. Actually, I think of Conan O'Brian, for some reason. I second that opinion! Is he even still on the air?

I really don't like this Easter event D: I've been posting for hours and hardly have anything to show for it.

It's all about the statistics of what will get the most votes. Statistics have shown that negative ads get people to vote more than positive ones. It's all very calculated.

There's um, a bunny head hunt in the forums...like the egg hunt two years ago...I think it's more fun then getting randomly picked to receive points and items like last year. I'm gonna buy most of the items though...too lazy to find the numbers of bunny heads you have to find to get the items.

Im sorry for randomly throwing this out there in the middle of your discussion but i joined his guild to get some mature perspectives on some things.
I have started a journal a little bit ago and i would be ever grateful if some of you would be willing to subscribe and share your thoughts on things i write about. some of them may sound depressing, or weird or immature, but they are still thoughts i have and i would like to get some more perspective on them.

Yes...I have to agree...then again...I'm cynical...I like chaos, unruly behavior and anarchy...makes life worth living. Besides...the mud slinging is better then the flowery lies that come with positive ads...actually when you break it down to the bare floor...they're both the same. Politicians + promises + lies + votes = wins.

Better to have 'em tell 'ya "yeah, I'm a real b*****d" than have 'em try to convince you they occasionally give Jesus pointers. No matter what, they're all in it for themselves and/or crazy- no sane individual would want to needlessly involve themselves in all that mess- so the least they can do in not insult our intelligence along the way.

Yeah I'm almost leaning towards just buying too -_- If we didn't have to get SPECIFIC eggs, it wouldn't be so bad. I don't have a single "rare", but I have over 100 common ones. I'm not sure if this is normal practice, but it's just plain annoying and tiresome more than anything.

If you're thoroughly enjoying the mechanics of the event, itself, and/or if it's not buggier than the bug exhibit at the zoo, you need to back out immediately; you've undoubtedly been redirected to fake site. mrgreen

Ohmigosh, I feel so bad because of how true that is! D; I keep talking to people and they said that the Halloween event in... 2010 (I think) was the only one they enjoyed. I'm amazed Gaia is still around if they constantly have events like this that everyone hates.

I remember the New Year event of... 2006, I think? '06 or '07. Anyway, THAT was hilariously screwed up. People's avatars were getting switched around throughout the site, and all kinds of weird things; at one point, I was a woman in a torn, gray dress. In some cases, user avatars partially merged with the event avis.
I remember Gino popped up to give me an item (this buckle, actually), and his top half had been switched with a buck-toothed woman in a black skirt, wearing a nurses cap. His caption read something like "Please don't ask me where I've been. I'm not sure if I could explain it, myself." That made me laugh so hard, I hurt myself.

gaia_nitemareleft About the politics: We had the parliament elections last year and we are now seeing how the coats are turning. Last spring all the politicians were so "determined and focused to stay true to their words". Now, almost all of those empty promises have been broken. I really don't understand why do they try to make those promises on "issues that they will never back down" if they can't really keep them. *sigh* About the event: I roamed in the flash place for a while, but the items doesn't look that appealing that I would actually want to collect them all. I might try to get few of them but I'm now leaning more into buying them than collecting them. Some how I can't get into a easter mood. I suppose the piles of snow coming in everyday in here has something to do with it. mad P: gaia_angelright

It's not about whether they have a snowball's chance in Hell during a heatwave of keeping their promise; it's about whether enough people will actually believe the crap they're spewing long enough to vote for them. And usually, enough people do. Some because they're new to the political scene, some because they're idealists, some because they (for whatever reason) like the politician in question as a person- usually the same ones who idolize celebrities they've never met- and then some are just naive enough to think that giving your word to anonymous strangers you're almost certainly never going to have any form of direct interaction with actually means something.
