"We need to go back to the ship to get the rest of our things," Lin explained, "Because Miyuki's belongings for lessons is still there, and then Miyuki does need lessons."
Which was going to be a completely different kettle of fish.
"How often does it rain?" Miyuki had to ask, because they were always sleeping out here and there was only that small shelter for changing.

Haldia nodded. "And Amalirahc, as well, Kelirahc asked me before he and Leyenda left this morning." She glanced down at the children, then looked back at Lin. "Would you like a ride to the ship?" she asked. "I have no other plans for today, I would like to help with lessons, if I may."
Earendil grinned at Lin. "We could make it a language lesson day," he suggested. "Though of course we do still need to get the rest of our things."
Amalirahc shrugged at Miyuki. "Ada didn't say. All I know is, there's a rainy season and a dry season instead of summer and winter and fading and spring and autumn and stirring. It doesn't make any sense to me, but that's what he said."

"That would be wonderful," Lin replied happily, "It might make it more interesting for the children."
Trying to keep it interesting was always the hard part, even curiousity only took one so far.
"So... it doesn't rain during the dry seasons," Miyuki paused, "And during the rainy season we go to the trees? So.. then we would only cook in the trees?"
Since dry season sounded like it said... dry.

"Thank you, Haldia," Earendil smiled warmly at her. "Perhaps you could tell the children about the island then? It would be good lessons, and it would make Miyuki work harder at the language."
Amalirahc shrugged. "Something like that, I guess," he murmured. "I don't know." He looked at Miyuki, then looked up at the grownups. "Haldia would know ..."

"Then let's ask her!" Miyuki suggested, "Because that would be nice to know."
To know anything would be nice really but for some reason she wanted to know that for the sake of knowing.

"Okay," Amalirahc agreed. He turned around and looked up at the grown ups again. "Haldia?" he interrupted them.
Haldia looked down at him, her eyes warm. "Yes?"
"Miyuki and me were wondering ... what is the wet season? And how do you cook then?"
"Miyuki and I," Haldia corrected him, taking her role as a teacher very seriously. "I will tell you about that later, all right? For the moment, Lin and Earendil would like to return to the ship to get the rest of their things. That means you as well, Miyuki," she added, looking at the girl meaningfully. She looked back at Amalirahc. "Would you also like to come?"
Amalirahc's eyes lit up. "Are we going to fly?" he asked eagerly.

"Yay! Doll!" Miyuki paused for a moment and realized her lack of vocabulary was a bit of a problem, "I left my doll on the ship."
Very simple wording but at least it made sense and was all in the right place.

"And other things, I am certain," Haldia smiled. She stepped back, then touched two fingers to her mark and swung her arm outward, and her roc shimmered into being.
Once everyone was on the roc's back, they headed out to the ship. It barely took them any time at all to reach it, and very soon they were on the deck.

"Alright now," Lin murmured once her feet were firmly on the deck, "Let's go and get the rest of our stuff, the sooner we do lessons the sooner you get to explore."
Exploring was probably more fun to an extent than lessons she supposed.
"Okay!" Miyuki replied taking her bag and rushing off to below deck.

Amalirahc looked up at Lin. "But I don't have anything to get," he pointed out. "Mama and Ada have our bag, and I don't have anything left in our quarters, anyways."
What was he supposed to do while Miyuki was getting her things?

"Sorry Amalirahc, but you're going to have to wait," Lin replied, "That's why we came back to the ship, to get our things."
She ushered him towards their quarters just because she had things she needed to get too.

Amalirahc walked ahead of Lin, though he didn't know why he had to go belowdeck with them.
"Can't I just wait on deck with Haldia?" he asked Lin over his shoulder. "I'm just going to get in the way down there ..."
Sure, it was a big room, but with three people going all around the room and collecting things, there wouldn't be a good place for him to stand.

Lin paused, before nodding, "Alright then, just wait here and we'll be back as soon as possible."
She had thought of having him join them at first because it sounded like he was going to get bored again.

Earendil followed Lin down to their quarters. "That seemed a little too easy," he murmured softly to her as they headed down the dark corridor.

Lin shrugged at that as she followed him, "Haldia is there, she'll keep him busy or at least keep him company."
It was true that she had thought Amalirahc would have wanted to do something instead of just standing around waiting for them.
By the time they got there, Miyuki was already taking her doll off her bed, after putting her learning supplies in there earlier.
