This time around Akima didn't even have to use her Taunt technique to goad the Fearow into attacking her, as the second the two were ready to square off once again, Plua was diving at the Sneasel, beak fully extended for a Peck attack. The Fearow knew she could easily spam Akima with her Aerial Ace, and had she still been out in the wild, she probably would have. But, after all, this Pokemon had bested her, and though she'd never admit it, she had a sort of respect for the Sneasel. Akima, still feeling a little unsure of herself after her teammate's evolutions, moved to dodge right, but her momentary hesitation allowed the Fearow to read her movements so she followed appropriately landing a sharp Peck to the Sneasel's shoulder.

Akima, though knowing she wasn't supposed to be attacking back, couldn't help but retaliate with a quick Ice Punch, aiming for the Fearow's chest, just under where her neck started. Again, though, Plua read the Sneasel like a book and used her powerful wings to push herself up and out of Akima's reach. The Fearow scoffed and clicked her beak loudly. This wasn't the same Sneasel she'd been battling a few minutes ago, and as far as she was concerned, she was done here. Plua gave an indignant squawk, calling Akima some nasty name in their universal Pokemon tongue before flapping her wings and roosting in a nearby tree.

Roxanne was quite aware of the fact that this Sandstorm was really just buying her time, as without it (and Geodude's amazing Rock Polish), they wouldn't last long against the Sinnoh Surfer's water-type Pokemon (and she was sure he had more waiting in the wings lest the Corsola fail). She wasn't a gym leader for nothing; she knew when she was severely outmatched.

"Okay Geodude, give 'em a Rock Tomb," she said decisively. It was one of the only moves available to her that wouldn't be resisted by the rock-type, and assuming it hit, would hinder the Coral Pokemon's movements. The Rock Pokemon growled and pounded her fists into the ground, causing several stone spikes to shoot up out of the ground around the Corsola.

Hearing Jaeshan's protests that he didn't really know Robin, as true as that maybe still kinda hurt the redhead. She wanted to get to know him better, now was her chance to! Still in order to spend time with him she really needed to stop laughing. Looking at the ground she did her best to stem the flow of laughter spilling from her. When she thought that she had a hold of it she glanced up at the silly couple ahead of her and felt the snickers start to rise up again. "Oh god." She muttered before turning back again using Jaeshan as a sort of shield so she wouldn't have to look at them.

"Your so cute when your right Nancy my love!" Milton roared, he didn't seem to be able of being quiet. "Look that young girl is so over come after seeing our love for each other that she is hiding behind her boyfriend." The couple hikers seemed to be so in love with each other they didn't seem to hear Robin's laughter that had started up again.

Black*Star though was paying attention and as soon as he heard Jaeshan say battle he was ready for it! He just needed Robin to go through the formality of picking him. Running back to his laughing trainer Black*Star bit her gently enough so it didn't' break skin but hard enough so that the girl could feel it. He needed her to pick him! He had to show off how awesome he was to this new trainer.

"Ouch! Black*Star thats not nice!" Still it did get her to stop laughing. Frowning she rubbed her leg and glanced over at him then at the couple then back to Jaeshan when he asked that weird question. Had he never been in a double battle with another trainer? Huh, how odd, well it wasn't impossible but still, Robin herself had never been in a double trainer battle before either now that she thought about it. "You've never been in a double trainer battle before? Huh, how did you manage that? Well, each of us sends out a pokemon and each of them sounds out a pokemon and we battle like normal." Or at least she was pretty sure thats how it went.

Looking down across the battlefield Robin watched as Milton sent out a strange blue pokemon with a big mouth. It kinda looked like a smaller one of those Gabite things she had lost to earlier. Right, she had to send out her pokemon, looking back down at Black*Star who seemed ready to fight Robin gave him a sorry smile. "Sorry Black*Star, Tony Tony said you couldn't fight, thats why Ace is with us."

What!? He couldn't fight?! How dare that bald trainer guy from earlier say that to him! OK so maybe he was still really tired but he could take on the other side! There was no way that he was going to let that fire monkey fight instead of him.

Seeing that Black*Star was about to disobey Robin gave him a displeased look as she tossed Ace's pokeball out onto the battlefield. The playful pokemon appeared in a flash of red light and a relaxed stance that Robin was getting used to seeing him with. "There Ace is out not stop whining, you don't get to battle until Tony says so." Robin muttered before turning her attention back to the battlefield.

Andrew eyed her thoughtfully, before turning away.

"Release it," he said simply. Eztli pressed the little button on the Pokeball, and tossed into the air. Out popped a purple Pokemon that Eztli easily recognized as a Gligar. Eztli's tried to stay optimistic about her chances, but she knew that Gligars were the not the best offensive Pokemon, and they didn't have a great movepool either. Plus, to Eztli's knowledge, they couldn't evolve and become stronger. She wanted to recall the Gligar and choose another Pokemon, but she knew she would fail the test at that point. Andrew turned back around, and watched the Gligar, who was settling onto his desk. The FlyScorpion Pokemon didn't seem happy or sad, just resigned to her captivity. "What luck," Andrew said, no sarcasm in his voice. "You've chosen an experienced one. This Gligar here has already been through two initiation missions, she knows what to do."

"Then why is she here?"

"Because she failed each time, and the agent-in-training died." The Gligar did nothing except hold Eztli's scrutinizing gaze. Andrew stepped over to a bookshelf that held many manila folders, and plucked one randomly from the shelf. He read it over, no emotion on his face. "You should like this one, Eztli. Your mission is going to be much like what Mixcoatl does." Mixcoatl stiffened, and shook his head. He had been hoping for Eztli to become a Scout or an Analyst, not a Peacemaker, as his branch of special agents were called. He closed his eyes tight, and tried to tune out what Eztli would have to do for this mission. "To pass this mission, you must travel to Jubilife City. It is directly east of us I believe. There, you must find a man named Reinhardt Adler. He is a journalist who is searching for me. He knows I have a connection to a potentially dangerous underworld organization. I want you to find all of his research and burn it to a crisp. Make it look like an accident. " Eztli nodded. That shouldn't be too bad actually, having Xipil set the blaze would be easy, and she was only going after his research after all..."Once you burn the research, bring Mr. Adler here. Should be an easy enough task, since I am allowing Kai here to be your administrator." Eztli shivered involuntarily.

"Then why give me Malinche?"

"Malinche?" Eztli motioned to the Gligar.

"Malinche. Means either 'victim' or 'traitor'. And I haven't quite figured out which she is yet." For the first time, Andrew cracked a tiny smile.

"Very imaginative. Well, Malinche was given to you because we are confiscating your Magby and Cubone for the time being. This mission will be carried out by you and Malinche alone." He strode around his desk and took the two Pokeballs from Eztli, who was too stunned to react.

"Then how am I supposed to set the blaze?"

"You worked at a Kiln yes? I am sure you will figure it out. If you pass, your Magby and Cubone will be returned to you. If not, they will be kept for future recruits." He sat at his desk, as Eztli recalled Malinche. He waved her away, already attending to the next order of business. Eztli stood, and walked right past Mixcoatl and Kai.

"Let's go," she said simply. She was absolutely terrified of her upcoming mission, and horrified at what she was about to do to another person, but she wasn't going to let Kai know that. Kai looked at Mixcoatl, who shrugged helplessly. The big man grinned, and followed Eztli.

"Now Eztli, for this mission, you are allowed no weapons aside from your Pokemon. You are also not allowed to go any farther then 300 feet from me at anytime." He reached over to Mixcoatl's arm, and unlocked the death bracelet, before re-attatching it to Eztli's arm. He explained it's properties, and was happy to see Eztli's face pale, though her expression remained neutrual.

"What about me?" Mixcoatl suddenly asked. Kai turned to him, amused.

"You? You have served your purpose for now. Go back to your cell." Mixcoatl stood still for a moment, before sighing and turning back down the hallway, towards his cell. He felt he didn't have a choice in the matter, even though Kai wasn't shadowing him. As Kai watched him go, he chuckled. "Good, he's broken. He won't try to desert again." Eztli had no love for her brother, but her heart still ached at the sight of a man once so proud and kind, now reduced to the shivering shell of obedience. She vowed to never let that happen to her. She was determined to escape from this situation, however long it took.

So, without much further ado, Jun left Posh with the flower nurturer woman, whose name was Meredith. The Roselia initially as not thrilled with this mini-vacation of sorts that Jun was giving her and didn't understand why she needed to go to a flower specialist or nurturer or OBGYN or whatever it was this woman was, but upon entering the place, she found herself in a wonderland of beautiful, relaxing fragrances. And my, what wonderfully pruned Pokemon! From the Bellossom to the Vileplume to Ivysaur to Weepinbell to some Pokemon that vaguely reminded her of her own mother, a fuzzy but gently gorgeous memory in her mind.

"My private copter's in Jubilife, the center of our company's operations here in Sinnoh," Devon Stone said, as Jun mounted his motorcycle and bid Devon to get behind him. The elder man did, and Jun had to admit a bit of guilty pleasure when Devon grabbed Jun's waist to steady himself. "We'll have to make a bit of a detour and head to Veilstone for a couple hours, though; I forgot some important paperwork and signatures back there."

"Ah! I'm a Veilstone native, coincidentally," Jun grinned to himself as he slipped the windshield of his helmet down over his face. His slender body, along with the androgynous nature of his helmet, made it impossible to tell what gender he was. Could've been a badass chick. Was a badass fella regardless.

"Got family there?"

Jun thought of his feisty cute little sister, his intimidatingly gruff father, his sweet, slim woman of a mother. "I dare say I do," he answered as the motorcycle hummed to life.

"Well, you could visit them for a while," Devon said, shouting now over the wind since Jun really did drive quite fast. "My business should take about an hour, and it's dull work."

Meanwhile, Posh was being introduced to her surroundings by Meredith. According to her, this was a place for flower Pokemon to embrace and channel their inner energy, since biologically speaking, flowers are technically are a unique aspect of flora. Technically speaking, Meredith added, flowers are the reproductive organs of plants, and thus have their own sort of innate sexual energy, though it need not be used in that connotation. Rather, it ought to be used to whatever means the flower Pokemon wanted. What, then, was it that Posh wanted? Meredith asked.

Well, that was easy. She wanted fame, attention, adoration, oh, maybe the admission that she was better than the rest of them, Jun to prune her more often, expensive fabrics for Jun to sew for her line... Though the Roselia had not said a single word, Meredith somehow sensed that she was thinking only of shallow matters, and so shook her head. Something deeper, the woman said. What is it you innately desire for yourself? What is it you want to be?

Posh frowned, looking at the graceful Grass-types in the garden. Some were dancing, some were lounging, and some were tending their less lively siblings, the flowers that grew from the ground quietly and innocently. Whatever it was that they did, they were all so graceful and healthily beautiful, so patient and serene. Posh was reminded of Demi, who effortlessly glid through life.

Meredith caught her entranced stare, followed it to see her admiring her fellow Pokemon. "Well, that's more like it. We can do that for you, to channel your essence into not only outer beauty -- which you have, you darling little Roselia you, and what a fabulous color your buds are -- but into something that simply emanates out of you. Yes?" Posh nodded.

Jett found himself wandering about Rustboro, deep in a mental debate of whether or not to see if he could get a decent TM. Of course, there was the obvious urge to just go take Roxanne on right now, but he had a feeling that the poor gym leader was probably overloaded.

He sighed some, looking to Aerosmith, who was the only Pokemon out. "What do you think we should do?" he asked the Butterfly Pokemon quietly, arms folding over his chest.

"Fly," Aerosmith grunted in return, eyes training to the gym. He had the desire to just get their battle over with, so they could go move on. He wanted to show that Geodude who was boss!

"I dunno," Jett sighed. "Maybe we should just watch the other battles?" Aerosmith nodded, and they started off to the building.

"So now that we have all the things prepared," Amy began, making a mental note to visit the salon before the contest, "let's train for a little bit?"

Flora and Marshall were in obvious agreement, ready to get stronger and get ready for that contest!

"All right!" Amy smiled, pointing to Marshall. "Marshall, I want you to attack Flora. Flora, I want you to be quick and dodge gracefully, okay?" They both nodded.

Immediately, the two set off to work. Marshall began a series of Mud Shots directly at the Bayleef. Flora, still not used to her larger form, tried to leap forward, but managed only to tumble into the ground.

"Bay," she huffed, nodding to the Wooper. Again, another series of Mud Shots barrelled toward her, but the Grass-type had smartened up. She began to run directly at the attack before leaping as high as she could go. "Bay!" she called, flipping once before she landed.

"...Woop."

"So, I assume that coordinating our individual Pokemon to work as a single unit would be a rather important factor in ensuring our victory then," Jake said, touching a finger to his lips as Ace the Monferno made another appearance. There was something odd about his tone of voice just then, and Jake looked up at the sky, wondering just what it was. Of course, he had no real way of remembering anything about his past, but if he did, he would have realized that it was how he'd sounded whenever he was immersed deeply into his medical studies.

"Aw, lookit that, Milton honey! Lover Boy's lost in thought over his beautiful girlfriend!" Nancy continued to laugh loudly as she send out a Pokemon of her own. Jake recognized it only because he'd just seen them in his PokeDex; a Geodude. The rocky Pokemon flexed its muscular arms, looking as ready as a lump of rock could be to battle.

Jake rolled his eyes, about to say something when a thought occurred to him. What if he and Robin were actually a couple, and he didn't know it? She had given him some pretty funny looks now that he thought about it, and he couldn't help but feel frustrated with himself. The chances of him washing up on some random beach with no memory and then coincidentally meeting up with this girl later on that day were slim to none. On the outside, he still looked calm and collected even as he gave the nod to Turtwig, but on the inside, he was absolutely seething with rage. How could he address this problem without looking like a total idiot? He looked down when he realized Turtwig hadn't moved, and the Grass-type was currently gazing up at him with a 'do I have to?' look. Jake sighed and pulled Bidoof's Pokeball from his pocket, and flung it. "Piece of cake," he said, winking at Robin and instantly feeling like a colossal dork for doing so.

When Jaeshan had spouted all those weird big words Robin could only look at him blankly. She had never heard any of those before, wow Jaeshan sure was smart to know them. Laughing Robin clapped him on the back and gave him a big smile. "You sure are smart." She joked before turning her attention back to the battle.

"Oh your right Nancy my love! How sweet of him!" Milton let out a loud laugh as he watched Jaeshan and Robin release their pokemon. "I wonder if their pokemon are in love to." He commented as he watched them.

Robin watched as Jaeshan tried to send out his Turtwig but the grass pokemon didn't seem to want to go out. Instead the Bidoof was sent out and Robin got a wink from Jaeshan that caused the energetic girl to blush. He had winked at her! Ah! He was so cute! He had also had a cool catch phrase when he sent out a pokemon. Wishing she could recall Ace so she could do one of her own Robin resolved to think on that a bit in the future. "Heh, we can totally win this."

"They are so confident in their love. Nothing they can do though will ever come to my level of love I have for you." Milton batted his eyelashes in a truly disturbing manor towards Nancy. "Now lets show them our love! Gible let's show them your Dragon Rage of love!"

"Ace let's go! Use your Mach Punch on that Geodude!" It was a good thing Jaeshan had recently gone over rock types weaknesses since Robin wouldn't have known that before.

Both Pokemon charged forward, the Gible and Monferno dodged each other each of them going after the other pokemon. It wasn't to hard to believe that Ace was a lot faster then the other and the playful pokemon's fist was pulled back and was ready to strike the Geodude. While the Gible meanwhile had gotten a bit closer to the Bidoof and opening its large mouth it released a burst of blue flames.

Meanwhile, Claire and Rajasi had managed to land safely just north of the city, right at about the midpoint between it and the cape. Rajasi was obviously first to touchdown, and after a bit of fumbling through the still gently falling parachute, he was outside of it and walking toward the spot that Claire landed, a good 10 feet away.

“Man, this thing is all over!” Claire muttered as the parachute enveloped her. After a bit of flailing from her sitting position on the ground she had managed to clear the fabric off of her to find Rajasi standing nearby with his hand extended to help her up.

“Nice job for your first time flying.” Rajasi said as the two were now at the same level.

“Thanks.” Claire muttered. It had been somewhat frightening, yet totally invigorating now that she was back on the stable Earth. “I take it you’ve done it a few times then?” Claire asked as the two looked at their surroundings: a grassy clearing that looked scenically into the gentle waters that covered the large peninsula north of Cerulean City.

“Yeah, we had to do a few jumps as part of the second level training. I’m sure you’ve done this sort of thing before but just can’t remember it.” Rajasi added with a gentle smile. “Oh yeah!” the brown haired boy exclaimed, as he pulled off his backpack and began to rifle through it. After a moment he pulled out a small device. “A GPS,” he said as Claire looked quizzically, “I can find out our exact location and then plot the best route into the city. I’m sure Moti will be waiting for us.”

“Yeah, I couldn’t totally make it out, but it looked like he managed to survive. Hopefully he didn’t break a leg or something on his landing.” Claire muttered. At this point Rajasi had found their position and began to lead the way back to the main trail. A few minutes and a few bush jumps later the two had managed to get back onto Route 25. The route was bustling with people and Pokemon as the two emerged.

"Wonder why it's so busy." Claire said, trying to relieve the boredom.

"I think there's a contest today actually. They're probably all trying to get in some last minute training before the festivities begin later today." Rajasi said checking the date on his watch.

“A contest? Like what?” Claire asked, genuinely intrigued.

“Y’know, a Pokemon contest.” Rajasi said nonchalantly, taking a look at the girl. But she apparently didn’t know. “Oh, well it’s this event where trainers try to use their Pokemon’s moves to make them look as amazing as possible. Kind of an alternative for those people that are opposed to straight out battling.”

“Huh, sounds like it’d be boring.” Claire replied.

“It’s actually pretty interesting. The initial rounds are done solo but after that trainers are forced to battle each other while judges rate their performance. If you can inflict damage on the enemy, avoid damage for your own Pokemon, and make the moves look good you can win. If there’s time I’d say you should go watch some recordings of old contests.”

“Hm.. well I’ll give it a try I guess.” Claire responded. It didn’t sound that great, but maybe there was something to participating in a contest. But the girl didn’t have much time to think any further as the two trainers’ path was suddenly blocked by two other trainers that leapt from opposite sides of the bushes.

“Hey!” The male shouted.

“You can’t cross here!” His female partner shouted.

“Until you beat us!” The man finished as the two gave each other high fives. The young man, as he was certainly only 13 or 14, then held up a Pokeball. His female partner doing the same. "I'm Jonathan!"

"And I'm Mina!" the girl of about the same age added. "And we're..."

"Coordinators extraordinare!" The two finished together as they spun in opposite directions and threw their Pokeballs. The boy's Pokeball shot out sparks shaped like little moons but released a rock like Pokemon that was shaped like the sun while the girl's Pokeball released a rock like Pokemon shaped like a crescent moon but had little sun-shaped sparks.

"That was... interesting." Rajasi said with a shrug. "Whad'ya think, Claire? Should we agree to their terms?"

"Sure, I guess it couldn't hurt." Claire responded with her own shrug. "We'll skip the theatrics though." If contests were full of characters like these, then maybe it would be best to avoid them. Avoid them like a pack of rampaging Gyarados.

"Do you guys feel up to battling? It's really up to you guys," M.A. asked her Pokemon earnestly, having dismounted her Donphan. She was mostly directing the question at Diego, since the other three's responses were predictable and the Smeargle did look kinda tired still. Daemyn was a whatever, sure why not; Tora was a YES!; and Ulani -- well, typically she'd only want to battle to mess around, but at the moment she was sulking about Diego's flirtatious winks at the Driftblim and so seemed in a bad enough mood to actually want to tear something apart, namely a certain air balloon-ish looking thing. M.A. smirked at the Altaria; no matter how graceful she had gotten, she was still easy-to-read, pettily jealous Ulani, and she found it quite endearing.

Diego yawned. Well, technically speaking, he was solely M.A.'s Pokemon, now, though he didn't feel that much loyalty towards the girl. She was his master out of convenience and common goals -- she was traveling without concrete purpose, he was traveling to paint, she had Ulani, he rather liked Ulani. He had no obligation to fight for her. Then again, battling was a sort of test for him; the better of a painter he was, the longer and stronger his attacks were. He hadn't been strong enough back at the manor to carry both Ulani and that little runt, Rebecca, to safety, and that kinda stung a little. Would he be worthy of that Altaria if he wasn't strong enough of a painter? Hmmm.

(By the way, I forgot, but Rebecca was left under the custody of that Old Captain in the lighthouse M.A. had met a little while back, the elderly fella who lost his navigator daughter in the storm, the navigator who saved Rebecca's life in the first place. He was thrilled to once again have someone in his company, being so lonely and all, and especially since Rebecca had been the life his daughter had saved and all. Semi-happy ending there.)

Oh, but he was still oh-so-worn out from that whole Milton-gone-crazy-and-burning-the-house-down-and-his-master-later-dying fiasco, and he could feel his narcolepsy setting in. 'Maybe later,' he wrote in the air, the words lingering for a moment before falling in a puddle of paint. He then fell asleep on the ground, snoring.

"My Smeargle's a bit exhausted from recent events, so I'm afraid he won't be battling. I hope you won't mind," M.A. said, her tone unenthusiastic.

"That's fine! We'll just do three against three, then. First off! My Driftblim!" The balloon thing drifted in.

"Alright, Daemyn, wanna start off --- ?" M.A. was suddenly cut off by Ulani's floating into the arena. What, what was so good about that ball of hot air? /She/ was obviously prettier! Well, though Diego had fallen asleep now, having fallen out of love with the Driftblim since he had already finished sketching her, Ulani was still sorta peeved and if she had to fight, she'd wanna poke holes into that dumb looking thing. Just, you know, to be the last one laughing.

It was hard to tell if Ulani's strength came from her being irritated at Diego or from her evolution. It was probably the latter, though. Pissed off Swablu Ulani was merely a nuisance, pecking Pokemons' heads incessantly. Altaria Ulani in a bad mood just released energy in a whole different way.

Daemyn watched with troubled eyes as Ulani, of her own accord, used Take Down brutally on the Driftblim from the very get go. M.A. had begun to open her mouth to issue a command, but it seemed the Altaria, with newfound confidence, didn't really need any direction and could manage herself. The Blimp Pokemon was taken aback by the Altaria's vicious talons and beak and so was dealt a critical hit in that manner. The Driftblim began to tear up a little.

The Houndoom felt anxiety and adrenaline clench his throat. Would he have been able to stand the ferocity of that attack? Of course he would! He was the tribe leader of this party, well after M.A. of course, but she was useless in battles, you know. But Ulani posed a genuine threat to his position of superiority, and Daemyn knew it. His paws clenched and unclenched the ground, in anticipation for.. what? He didn't know. It felt weird, though, to see his little sister of sorts just as capable as he was, able to take charge of her own fights... Before then, he had prided himself as M.A.'s best battler, but was it true now? He wanted to know, so badly.

"Now, now, Driftblim! Don't cry! She's a Flying-Type, use Thunderbolt!" the girl said, somewhat panicked. She hadn't expected that pretty bird to be so mean! The Blimp Pokemon complied, sniffled a bit and blinked back its tears, before letting loose a vengeful Thunderbolt which knocked into Ulani pretty hard. M.A. gasped a little bit, but relaxed when it seemed the Humming Pokemon had survived the hit. "Now, 'Lani --" M.A. began, accustomed to giving out suggestions, but the Altaria was already on it, much to Daemyn's grief. Eyes gleaming with new knowledge, she thrust her head back and -- to everyone's surprise -- returned the Thunderbolt right back, streaming out of her beak in the same way Daemyn might spit fire.

"Since when did she know Thunderbolt?" M.A. asked aloud, too mystified to even notice the Drifblim exploding in defeat. Ulani, now appeased and cheery as ever, floated back to M.A.'s side and hummed contentedly. "Ah, Mirror Move," M.A. read her Pokedex. "Well, that's new! And very impressive, 'Lani. Sheesh, you're not only gorgeous, you're so strong!" The Altaria purred happily before shooting a dirty look at the sleeping (and oblivious) Diego. She was a bit upset that he hadn't been awake to see her beat up his love interest or whatever, not knowing that Diego could have cared less at that point in time, having already painted the Drifblim. She wasn't quite sure why she was so jealously possessive of that sleepy-eyed lazy a** of a Smeargle, but hey, he wouldn't paint her, and would only paint ugly things like that Drifblim! What! Injustice, really. She was justified with her irritation.

"Woah, that Altaria of yours! I didn't really expect that from... Well, you know," the girl said, trying to smile though it was obvious she wasn't happy with losing. M.A. looked over at her coolly; what an ugly expression, that forced half-smile that was turning into a sneer, her brows knitted together. She didn't have to be such a sore loser if she had picked the fight. "Well, next is my Gallade! He's even tougher, I tell you!"

Daemyn stepped into the rink this time, determined not to be outdone by Ulani. And oh boy, he wouldn't be.

The redhead adjusted his towel before doing another lap around the showers, this time kicking open every door just to be doubly sure someone wasn't perched somewhere, messing with his head for fun. He'd just about convinced himself that Mike's craziness was contagious and he'd made up his mind to just go outside, have a smoke or three and try to forget the whole thing when he heard the voice again, though this time it sounded as though it were saying his name, and in his head, at that. Once more Keegan pivoted around, the dizziness all but a memory as it had been replaced by rampant curiosity and panic. He found himself facing the mirror once again, and he leaned forward and put his hands on the sides of the sink, staring at his reflection through the foggy glass. He noticed quickly that he was pale, and dark circles had formed under his eyes, making him look washed out. He frowned at what he saw, which really didn't make the sight in front of him any better.

Come on, go ahead, he thought, taunting the familiar, feminine voice into speaking again. For a few moments, all he could hear was his pulse still pounding in his ears, and the occasional dripping of water from several of the faucets. He didn't know how long he just stood there, waiting, but he could see the condensation on the glass of the mirror starting to fade as the temperature of the room began to even out. Keegan scoffed and shook his head, turning on the cold water tap and cupping his hands. He splashed several handfuls of cool water over his face, shivering a bit, but definitely feeling better for it.

He continued to stare down the drain of the sink for a few minutes, still feeling quite stupid. Between the Oxycodone and the hunger and the steam from the shower, not to mention the fact that he hadn't exactly had any decent nights of sleep lately. It wasn't surprising that he was hearing things. Keegan sighed deeply and looked back up at the mirror again. His eyes went wide when he realized there was a slender, female figure standing behind him. Her icy blue eyes were staring into his wide, green ones, and if her eyes weren't a dead giveaway, then her pale blonde hair most definitely was. "What's the matter, aren't you happy to see me?" Mai asked, though eerily enough her lips weren't moving as the words were spoken.

Keegan let out a strangled sort of yelp when he realized who it was, though subconsciously he did know she truly wasn't there behind him and in fact, was merely a figment of his imagination. His expression was a mixture of surprise and anger as he whirled around to face 'her', but by then a fair amount of water had pooled by his feet. The sudden movement and the wet floor did not combine for a nice effect, and with another cry the redhead hit the floor, giving himself a good conk on the head in the process.

Bugsy was indeed seated on a chair on the platform, though he was not alone. A rather tough-looking and battle-worn Heracross sat in front of him, wearing a content expression as its purple-haired young master was currently polishing its shell. Both the beetle and Bugsy looked up as the young girl issued her challenge, though judging by her tone, she sounded quite unsure of herself. Bugsy rose from his chair, tucking the cloth he'd been using to shine Heracross' shell into his pocket as he studied the girl closely. She actually wasn't much older than he was, but the shocked expression she wore at the sight of him made the boy roll his eyes. Here we go again, Bugsy thought with a sigh, nodding to Heracross, and it spread its wings and flew off, presumably to go and enjoy some quiet time.

In actuality, Bugsy had been aware that a challenger was coming, as he'd heard the sounds of battles echoing through the gym earlier. They sounded heated and intense, so naturally he was a bit surprised to see how nervous this girl, Sam, was. He sighed again and pushed his bangs out of his face. "Hi, Sam, welcome to the Azalea Gym," he said, still a little annoyed, but decided to try not to show it. "I'm Bugsy, and I accept your challenge. I warn you, though, for my research has made me the ultimate authority on Bug-type Pokemon." He tried to stand a little taller, and he placed his hands behind his back as he continued to speak. "Three Pokemon each, no items, no time limit. First to knock out all three of the other's Pokemon wins." Then, to show he was serious, he held up a blue ball with black markings crisscrossing the surface - a Net Ball - and threw it. It burst open in a flash of light, revealing a green Pokemon with razor-sharp scythes for arms. Bugsy's Scyther gave an intimidating cry and slashed the air in front of it, clearly ready to battle.

When Bugsy had stood up, Sam had been tempted to ask him exactly how old he was, but she had decided it would be rude. Besides, he had already sent out a Pokemon. Sam's eye's widened. She had to admit, when she had seen the Heracross, her heart had skipped it beat, but then it had faded to relief as it had flown off. But now... His Scyther already? If that was his first Pokemon, what was going to come next? Sam smiled nervously, then reached for her bag. She still wasn't sure which Pokemon she was going to send out. Did she dare send out Miles? She remembered the Scyther's double weakness to Rock, which is why she had taught Miles' Rock Tomb in the first place, but Miles was weak to Flying, one of Scyther's types. However, she knew that it didn't mean the Scyther would use a Flying-type move. She grabbed Miles' Pokeball, and released the energetic Mankey, praying that he would do well. As soon as Miles hit the ground, she realized she hadn't gotten the chance to practice his new move yet. Well, no time like the present.

"Miles, Rock Tomb!" she yelled, pointing at the intimidating opponent. Miles thought, then complied. From the ground, he brought forth large boulders that tore at the grass and trees. He then proceeded to launch these at the large Bug type Pokemon, though some immediately went off target and smacked into some of the trees in the Gym. Sam hoped that something would hit the Mantis Pokemon.

Kasiya couldn't really think of anything else to say just then, so she smiled weakly, and nodded. She felt strangely airy and light on her feet, as it felt very good to finally have all that off her chest, but there was still so much going on inside her head, and she knew she wouldn't be falling asleep any time soon, even if she tried. She continued watching Mike even as she climbed up onto Nitro's back, somehow knowing that he wouldn't be fine. Not in mind, not in body, not in spirit. A sob escaped her throat and she clung tightly to the Charizard as he brought her back down, her tears flowing freely down her cheeks for the full duration of the flight. She was glad for Nitro's company for that short time, as he wouldn't ask her any probing questions or try to make things right. He was just there, and that was all she really needed at that moment. Once they'd touched down again, Kasiya thanked Nitro for bringing her down safely, though before he went off to find Mitsu, she hugged him tightly once again. "Take care of him, Nitro," she said, nodding as he Fire-type went off to retrieve the purple-haired girl. She wasn't sure who Mike would want to speak with next, but she was dying for a nice, cool shower, so she headed towards the entrance the hotel, which was thankfully several degrees cooler inside and much more livable than the unforgiving heat of the volcano.

Kasiya retrieved her room key from the woman at the front desk and thanked her politely as she headed for the room as shown on her key card. It took four or five tries for Kasiya to get the blasted thing to work, though she let out a triumphant 'aha!' when the light on the door handle flashed green in acceptance of the key card. She opened the door and flicked on the light, nodding in approval. It wasn't overly flashy or extravagant, but it looked comfortable and cozy. She threw her bag on the bed nearest the window and looked outside. The Big Riddle Inn was situated on a nice spot on a hill, overlooking a good portion of Cinnabar (though it was nothing compared to the view from the volcano's peak). She gathered a few things from her bag and grabbed a robe and a towel before making her way to the girls' showers. She set the water to a cool, refreshing temperature and stepped under it, sighing happily as the sticky, sweaty feeling was washed away. She washed and rinsed and dried herself quickly, and she'd donned the clean robe and had wrapped the towel around her head to help dry her hair, and she'd just started down the hallway to go back to her room when she heard a voice cry out.

She'd frozen in place and was busily looking around, trying to figure out where it had come from when she heard it again. It had come from the boys' showers and all at once Kasiya quickly realized that she knew who the voice belonged to - she'd know that voice anywhere. Without a second thought she practically went running into the boys' showers, uttering a frightened little whimper when she saw the redhead on the floor. "Keegan!" she cried, dropping to her knees beside him. "What happened? Are you -" she stopped abruptly when she noticed that blood was pooling around his head. Not a lot, but enough to drop her stomach just about as low as it could get. "Oh god, Keegan, you're bleeding."

"Dragon Rage of love?" Jake repeated, shaking his head. "Bidoof, that sounds like something you're gonna want to dodge," he advised. The Plump Mouse Pokemon gave a nod, watching the blue little shark thing close the distance a bit before it reared back and fired off a burst of bluish flames in her direction. Bidoof quickly darted off to the left, putting her Quick Attack to good use as she was able to avoid the flames with ease. She skidded to a stop and snarled menacingly at the Gible, though she looked about as intimidating as a bowl of rice pudding.

"Oh, they are trying to crack the foundations of our love!" Nancy cried, covering her mouth with her hand as Ace raced towards her Geodude, fist drawn back and ready to strike. "Hold your ground, darling! Defense Curl!" she cried. The Rock Pokemon nodded and quickly tucked its arms into its body, a slight shimmer encompassing its body just in time as Ace's punch slammed it right between the eyes. It hurt, and a lot, too, but both Nancy and the Geodude knew that it could have hurt a lot more if they hadn't improved their defenses.

"Oh no! We can't let that happen! The shores of love maybe rocky but I know we can make it through this battle!" Milton grabbed her hand and spun her so that the two could gaze lovingly into each others eyes before they turned back to the battle. "Come let us fight to keep our shores of love clean for all eternity! Gible use Tackle!"

Upon hearing her next command the Gible charged forward at the Bidoof that was doing its best to be intimidating. Oh please if it wanted to intimidate her then it would have to try really hard considering she had one time walked in on those two. There was nothing scarier then that! Charging forward in a Tackle the land shark pokemon was ready to take this puffball down!

"Oooh! Ace your Mach Punch looked really strong!" Robin cheered from her side now doing her best to ignore the lovey hiker couple. Instead Robin focused on cheering Ace on, from the looks she was receiving from the Monferno they were annoying but he did seem to like them. At her side Black*Star was sulking but watching the battle thinking how he would have all ready defeated BOTH pokemon by now. "I bet you can take out that Geodude even with its defense raised! Still let's not let it get to high up there, use your Leer to bring it back down!"

Ok so his trainers shouting was pretty embarrassing but Ace couldn't help but like it. Sure she had ditched him for years but she honestly didn't seem to have known he was waiting for her. She really did seem to care about him to, she wasn't really smart enough to pretend she didn't. She barely knew him and he all ready had her unconditional dying love for him. With that working against his still there resentment towards her it was easy to see why his defenses were coming down. Still he had a battle to do right now so no point on thinking on that! Looking down at the Geodude he crossed his arms over his chest and gave the rock pokemon a confident smirk that practically screamed 'I am going to beat you and there is nothing you can do about it!'

Neither Bugsy nor his Scyther so much as batted an eye as the Mankey was released, though it wasn't a Pokemon the young Gym Leader saw very often. It was energetic and looked eager to battle, and Bugsy was certain the little fellow would put up a good fight. At least she's done her research, he thought as Sam ordered a Rock Tomb, but he frowned a little as many of the stones quickly went off target. Scyther held up its scythes to defend itself from the rocks that did get through, its teeth grit tightly as several of them smashed up against its body. The Mantis glowed a dull green colour as its speed was cut down, but both it and Bugsy knew it wouldn't matter.

"Scyther, U-Turn!" he called, a bit of a smirk on his young face. The Mantis Pokemon raised its scythes and gave a fierce cry, its wings buzzing loudly as it sped towards the Mankey. It lunged forward, swinging its deadly scythes at the Pig Monkey Pokemon before a red light engulfed it, and just like that it was returned to its Net Ball. A split-second later, a highly-energetic Beedrill took Scyther's place on the battlefield, jabbing the air with its deadly stingers.
=====
Miharu had remained seated as the exchange between Bugsy and Sam began, though she too was quite surprised to see the Scyther sent out to battle first. Sam sent out her Mankey, and as expected, tried out its newly-learned Rock Tomb. She winced a little as some of the stones went off course and others hit their target. When Bugsy countered with U-Turn, however, Miharu quickly took out her PokeDex and checked out the move. The user attacks and is then immediately switched out with a waiting party member. Interesting, seems that Bugsy's rethought his strategy since I was here, she thought, looking up at the Beedrill that now faced Miles the Mankey.
