Keltzy Yay!! Flutes!! blaugh I'm happy, the flutes in my band are all either really snooty, or really cool but in a different band. (GRRR, foolish friends, switching to the other band.) It makes me crying But now I am happy!! biggrin So, whaddya want to chat about? There are only 3 flutists in my band, me, a girl named McKenna, and a girl named Kelly Ann. I'm not snooty, McKenna is... Avoided. -.- She annoys the crap out of everyone(shes a suck up), and Kelly Ann is asian but shes really tiny and quiet. =3 Shes actually quite nice. One day when McKenna was gone, just Kelly and I, our conductor kept using us as examples for the whole band! XD We are that good! He never does that when McKenna is there. X3

Well, I'm a flutest as well, but I can play any and all instroments. I started to play piano at 2, and it's been almost 13 years now. Flute is my newest one I've picked up. I've been playing for five years, this is my sixth. so yeah.

friday nights varsity game, my friend and I went, no one else in the band went, because we didn't have to. it was a one and a half bad playing. She had brought her flute(it's closed holes, I hate those! I play open hole) so I was playing some of our pep band, and people were cheering me on. I was all, "sweet!" but yeah, g2g domokun

Whats the difference between open holes and closed holes? I'm pretty sure I have a closed hole flute. The buttons are like solid. =P Do they sound different or something?

For marching band, there's eight of us in the flute section. For symphony band, there's thirteen. And because of these backwards numbers, we are always too loud or too soft. It's rather annoying, actually, because out band director gets upset when we play too loud in symphony band, and guess what? He's the one that let in thirteen flutes!! 'cause you have to audition to be in symphony band. So yeah...that's my rant-o-the day.
But I'm in love with the district piece this year! Mozart's Concerto in G, first movement. It makes me soooo happy inside! whee

Ya, supposedly it's clearer, but I can never tell because what your flute is made out of makes a huge difference too, like my student flute is silver plated nickel and my intermediate flute is solid silver body with silver plated nickel keys. So, there's a huge sound difference, but part of it comes from the solid silver body.

I don't really care lol. I'm kinda oblivious to the different kinds of flutes. Hey does anyone know that when you get to High School if you have to pick 1 instrument or if you can do 2? My band director said I was marvelous on the French horn. sweatdrop

I started the french horn a while ago(didn't I just say this... I'm losing my memory. XP) and play it in the begining band and the flute in advanced band but my band director is sooo super excited that he has two french horns and an expirienced music reader as one of them! xd He asked me to play extra loud so that everyone else could try to match it lol.
