As the girls headed off, Earendil used the Wishsong to hide himself and changed quickly into a new pair of pants. He didn't bother with a shirt - it was too warm for that here. He wasn't worried about burning. Growing up in a desert had just about immunized him to that, evidenced by the brownness of his sun-kissed skin.
Once he was changed, he ended the magic, and since Lin and Miyuki weren't back yet, he started to pack up their bags, folding the blanket and putting it into his. They would have to make a trip to the ship to get the rest of their things before they headed out into the island, but hopefully that wouldn't take too long.

It didn't take long for the two to come back, especially since Miyuki was running all the way back instead of walking.
"Ada we're done!" Miyuki called out.

Earendil grinned over at Miyuki. "Good. Then we need to go to the ship and get the rest of our things, and then after lessons, we can do a bit of exploring. And we'll probably want to take a nap this afternoon or evening so that we're awake tonight."
He slung his bag over his shoulder. "Come on, we should find Haldia. If she can take us to the ship, it will make things a lot easier."

"We're going to be up late tonight?" she asked.
Even though she knew that the people here were up during the night, it didn't occur to her that they were going to eventually switch their sleeping patterns to match the locals here.

Earendil nodded. "That way, we can spend time with Haldia and Kelirahc's people," he explained. "It's more exciting than just being by ourselves every day, isn't it?"
He wondered what kind of excitement there would be this time. Last time, they had been fortunate to witness someone receiving their mark. Would they have the good luck this time?

Miyuki nodded, she had to agree with that.
"But how do they sleep with the sun being so bright?" she had to ask though, because she thought it would be really hard.

Earendil grinned at her and patted her on the head. "You'll see when we go to the village," he told her. "All right?"
He looked around. "Lin, do you see Haldia anywhere?"

Looking about, Lin was pretty sure it wouldn't be hard to spot their friend. It's normally hard to miss someone who was pretty much black.
"Ah... I see her over there," she pointed off in one direction, "With the others..."

Earendil followed Lin's finger and nodded. She was talking again with Roydon, Arwen and Celeb. Go figure. Amalirahc was there as well, seemingly trying to bug his grandfather for a piggyback ride.
"Good," he murmured. "Then we should go get her."
He smiled at Lin and Miyuki. "Ready?"

"Ready!" Miyuki exclaimed as hurried off a bit aways from her parents before pausing and turning back, "Come on!"
She called out before hurrying off again.
Lin could only laugh as she took Earendil's hand before making her way over to the group.

Earendil laughed heartily and he squeezed Lin's hand as they started after Miyuki.
"So impatient," he grinned at Lin as they walked. "I wonder where she got that from."

Lin had to chuckle at that before shrugging. They made their way to the group where Miyuki was already mingling.
Miyuki was with Amalirahc talking about who knows what.

"Their houses are made of grass," Amalirahc was explaining to Miyuki. "Really long grass that they can put together and make strong enough for houses. That's what Ada says. And they're good to keep out rain, except not the really heavy rain, then they go live in trees, but it keeps out the sun, and that's how they sleep in the day because it's too hot to do all lots of things."
Haldia was laughing at something Arwen had said, and Celeb looked a little embarrassed. Earendil could only imagine what might have been said. Or not.

"Oh.... so no windows of course," Miyuki thought about it, that made sense.
And it was hot here, though she couldn't remember if it was hotter here or back in the desert.
"What did we miss?" Lin asked as they approached the other grown ups.

"Not much," Haldia smiled. "Arwen and Roydon were just telling me some stories about after they returned home, is all."
"Stories about me, more like," Celeb quipped.
Haldia laughed again. "Yes, stories about Celeb." Her eyes danced brightly as she looked at the three who had just arrived. "So, what are your ideas for the day?" she asked them eagerly.
Amalirahc nodded at Miyuki. "Right. No windows. It sounds a little too dark to me, but Ada says they don't use their houses for anything but sleeping."
He looked puzzled. "Do they always cook outside then, I wonder?" he mused. "Even when it's rainy?"
