"About your new Altaria, though," Saebum continued to his sister as they sat cozily on a bench in the surprisingly peaceful park nestled in the midst of Jubilife's bustling blocks, "As I was checking up on your Pokemon while you were sleeping, it seems that she evolved a bit late and so her dragon essence isn't quite developed."
"What does that mean?" M.A. asked, basking in the sunlight, though Saebum made sure her face was covered by the brim of the sun hat. On some level, although she definitely wanted to hear what Saebum was saying since it pertained to one of her Pokemon, she rather wished he'd find another way to communicate so she could enjoy Ulani's singing and the quiet rustling of the trees in peace. It really was a gorgeous day, and she wanted to greedily horde it all for herself via photographs, sensations, whatever. Maybe this offended some heaven or some god, that this ugly black thing was trying to reach out and possess for herself all that was beautiful, but M.A. frankly figured heaven or whatever it was could just screw itself, that it wasn't anymore just than she was. She would defile whatever she wanted to, since she was living on stolen time anyways.
"Ulani's actually half Dragon, now. Cool, huh? But anyways, there's a move, Dragonbreath, that Ulani should know, but doesn't since she was too content sitting on your head to get up and evolve. It's not too much of a problem save that it'll be difficult to build her next Dragon-type moves without having the basics down. I mean, she can, but my advice would be to get her to a Move Tutor and teach her how to channel her new dragon affinity. To reteach moves, though, you gotta repay them with a Heart Scale, and coincidentally," Saebum said, pulling out a pinkish, shiny little object, "Some broke kid gave me a Heart Scale for payment when I was grooming his Pokemon, and I don't really have a use for this."
Meanwhile, M.A.'s Pokemon also evaluated Ulani's evolution. Daemyn, sitting by M.A.'s feet -- he still wouldn't let her out of his sight -- figured he should be glad for his oldest fellow teammate (and friend, though he wouldn't admit it) and congratulate the annoying bird for finally growing up and looking like she could actually hold her own on a battle, but at the same time, something weird was bubbling in him. It felt a lot like... jealousy. No, not jealousy. Wariness. Ulani really did look quite strong, now. Something about her Dragon typing made her seem more regal, almost. And this made Daemyn shift uncomfortably. What if -- nah, it couldn't be, but -- what if Ulani was stronger than him, now? Daemyn's haughty nature was offended by the thought. Before now, Ulani had always been the tiny little bird that could pull it off in a pinch, and Daemyn really didn't have to worry about Tora, either, since she was a dumbass. But now Lani looked like a real contender. It worried Daemyn that he might not be the strongest, the most reliable in M.A.'s team. Of course he was, though. But what if?
Diego, meanwhile, appeared to be sleeping on the bench next to M.A. After all the excitement of the Stephanides manor had passed, the Smeargle had gone back to his narcoleptic ways. But for some reason, he couldn't really sleep. Yeah, his body ached and he craved sleep more than anything, but the heavy thoughts in his brain wouldn't let him rest. Although they made him all the more tired.
Interestingly enough, however, his thoughts weren't really concentrated on Milton. He had had enough time to grieve, and enough time to think. Long ago, before he knew that Milton was alive, Diego had already secretly resigned himself to his master's death; he had asked M.A. to go on this journey to have some closure, so that he could stop waiting and move on with his own life. It had been a lovely surprise, yes, to see Milton alive, but he hadn't really been; he had died on that boat long ago. And now, well, Milton was out of his misery; he had wanted reprieve from a world where he could only feel ennui and pain. And death must have led him to a better place, or at least rest. Diego had nabbed his favorite piece of Milton's -- the one of that disaster in Hoenn three years ago -- and kept it as a memento of his master's heart and genius.
Rather, Diego's thoughts were on something else. Through barely open eyes, he surreptitiously watched Ulani as she flew about, stretching her new wings, and sang for M.A.'s benefit.
Yesterday, while he had let himself spiral down a pit of depression and guilt -- largely because he had felt he had betrayed Milton with his last wish, had betrayed his true friend and master -- he had let his tail dry, something that never happened before. Ulani, calm because M.A. had stabilized, had looked over and asked what was wrong. The Smeargle looked at his tail, paintless, and shook his head. 'I'll never paint again,' he said, speaking slowly and quietly, unaccustomed to speech. That would be his price, his sacrifice, for abandoning his master in his greatest moment of need. Ulani swelled in fury; as a Swablu, her anger had been comedic at best, but as an Altaria, it was legitimately threatening. 'You dumbass! You haven't even painted me yet!' and had stormed -- or floated -- off. Diego's eyes had widened in surprise, then mirth. What a juvenile, utterly irrelevant argument. But her childishness, in the face of such ferocious beauty, was so, so charming. Maybe that had been her way of telling him that he still had a purpose in this life, that throwing it away now -- when he had not thrown away his life with Milton -- would be an utter waste. Maybe she really was just being petty. But it didn't matter. He would keep painting, keep painting, until he was skilled enough to do her and her sweet music justice.
He had told her something somewhat embarrassing as they were falling that night above the burning manor, but it seemed (fortunately) that she couldn't remember in the flurry of her evolution. The words had flown instinctively out of his mouth at the time, since he had been kinda sure they were about to die, and he hadn't given them much thought. It was probably true, though. Well, never mind. He'd tell her again once he captured her correctly, maybe. That would be the next time he'd open his mouth, now resuming his former muteness.

Leaning over Jaeshan's shoulder, Robin read his pokedex over his shoulder a small smile on her face. "When I battled Roark he used his Aerodactyl and Cranidos on me. They are both really tough. I bet he has all the rock pokemon though, he just switches them up sometimes, like trainers who have more then six pokemon." Or well Robin thought that trainers did that, it would be sad if someone had to leave whenever there wasn't any room on their team. "He was really tough." Looking around Robin saw Black*Star running around and leaving his signatures everywhere. Busting out in laughter Robin gave her pokemon a thumbs up. "Your so funny Black*Star!"
Ahead of Robin Black*Star gave a thumbs up as well at his trainer. It was always good to get attention from his number one fan. Grinning a grin full of fangs, Black*Star wasn't really paying to much attention and manged to trip over a rock. Popping back up from his place on the ground Black*Star just laughed and acted like nothing happened. Turning around so he wasn't walking backwards Black*Star looked around wondering where all the trainers were. How else was he supposed to show how awesome he was if he couldn't even show off his skills?

"Aerodactyl? Cranidos?" Jake asked, a little skeptically. "Aren't they some of those Pokemon that are supposed to be extinct?" He went back to those two entries in the PokeDex. Aerodactyl looked scary as hell, though he bet the Cranidos was no pushover, either. He imagined the large winged creature in battle, chasing after poor Turtwig and Bidoof and chomping at them with his razor-sharp fangs. He was certain it could gobble them up in a single bite if it wanted to, and he shuddered, suddenly feeling very uneasy. "I don't think I can do this," he said, snapping the 'Dex shut and stuffing it back in his pocket. At least not yet, he thought, sighing heavily. What would taking on a gym leader really do for him, anyway? He didn't think it would help him to remember anything about his past. Not only that, but Rowan had sent him out to study interesting Pokemon; he'd never mentioned gyms or anything like that.
Turtwig looked up at his trainer, wondering why the boy suddenly looked so uneasy. Even though the Tiny Leaf Pokemon wasn't keen on fighting, he was quite eager to get to this gym place so that he could take on all these Rock-type Pokemon and show Jake that he could be relied upon. He continued to watch the Totodile out of the corner of his eye, wondering perhaps he should be more assertive. The Grass-type sighed, wishing there was more he could do for Jake.

Saebum excused himself, as he had to take a call, and M.A. leaned back against the bench, sighing. Well, she supposed she'd drift wherever she wanted, now, starting with taking Ulani to this Move Tutor or whatever. She was free of any goals, any ambitions, any conceit; it was both liberating, and to some extent, slightly terrifying, as if she was free-falling and she wasn't sure there was a ground or if she had a parachute. M.A. as a child, in her cozy home in Fallorbor Town, had never felt this sort of total uncertainty before.
He came back shortly. "What was it?" M.A. asked.
Saebum looked back at his sister for a moment, and sighed. "It looks like my grooming salon is having something of a crisis. I asked them to handle it, though, so I could stay with you a bit longer."
"You can go back," his auburn haired sister answered composedly without missing a beat. Seeing how he was torn between obligations, she added, "I'm fine. Really."
She really did seem like it, smiling faintly like that, even though her body was something of a mess. "And I have Daemyn with me; he's going to be at my side no matter what I say," she laughed a bit, a windy, tinny chuckle. Saebum didn't seem entirely convinced, still, as he glanced her over.
"You just got out of the hospital, though..."
"And I feel right as rain. A little sore, but it's nothing having you around will fix," M.A. said, realizing that her bluntness was a bit acerbic. Softening her tone a bit, she added, "I'd feel guilty if you stayed."
Saebum bit his lip for a moment. The business really had been urgent. "Well... If you're sure," he said, uncertainty as tangible in his voice as the grass around them.
"I'm sure," M.A. answered breezily.
"Make sure you take it easy for a while. You hear that, Daemyn, Ulani? Make sure she takes it easy for a while!" The two Pokemon nodded dutifully. Tora noted that she hadn't been included, and felt a little offended. What, yeah she was a little... um, rash, but couldn't she given some responsibility too?

"Yeah they used to be extinct, Roarks a miner though so he probably found the ancient fossil and revived them." Robin grinned and blushed slightly as she remembered what Roark looked when he just came out of the shower. Shaking her head though Robin was about to say something when she was interrupted by a loud laughter. "Eh?" Robin glanced over to where the laughter was coming from and when she finally spotted them she laughed as well. "Haha! Pervert Hikers!" Black*Star who had been wondering around ahead of her immediately retreated to her side in order to stay away from the pervert hikers.
On front of them there were two Hikers who were hanging all over each other in outfits that weren't exactly... they weren't exactly appropriate, not that Robins was either. Still there was something different between the younger Robin dressing like she did and some thirty year old not as in shape as her hikers doing it.
"Ah its so nice to see young love! Still your no where near as cute as Nancy and I were at your age!" The older man in the shirt that looked way to small that was covered in hearts and not covering his hairy belly, laughed. "Oh Nancy I have the best idea! Let's test out their love for each other!"
Over at Jaeshans side Robin was almost doubled over in laughter as she saw the two pervert hikers. She was using the blond to hold her up so she didn't end up on the floor.

Mahnaz stopped by the waterway and took a quick drink. She saw that there were some Poliwags; an idea formed in her head. "Maipe, we're gonna get a second Pokemon today. And, it's one that'll do great against the Pewter Gym." She smiled as she pulled her rod out of her bag and walked to the shore. "Lithe," Maipe said disappointed. He didn't want anyone else with the two of them, but he knew it was necessary for them. The two of them waited for what felt like an eternity, the sun baking on them, which felt good for the young Growlithe. She felt a few nibbles, but no major bites. "I guess they aren't-woah!" she exclaimed as a large tug pulled on her line. She fought with the thing on the other end for what seemed like forever until a Poliwag popped up. "Perfect; Maipe we need it weaker, but not too weak." The Growlithe nodded as he ran forward and snarled. "Bite." The Puppy Pokemon chomped down as the Poliwag blew Bubbles. Maipe flinched back as the Bubbles hit. A Water move; not bad. Not bad at all. She eyed where the Poliwag was and grimaced; it was too close to the water. "Round it up and Bite it again, but be careful about that attack." Maipe followed diligently without a problem, keeping the new Pokemon away from the water as he bit the tail. "Wag!" it yelled, but it couldn't do anything. Mahnaz threw one of her Pokeballs at the weakened Poliwag. A red light shone and after a few tense minutes, the Poliwag was captured.

Akane wracked her brain for some move Twinkers could use to hit her opponent. Metronome was a last resort, a last throw of the dice. It worked out well enough last time but how lucky did she think she was? Some move to hit that fast little bat ...
"Aerial Ace again!" called the brown haired teenager.
"Magical Leaf!" Akane blurted out without thinking. A sinking feeling formed in her stomach as she realized that was going to be a rather ineffective move against the flying opponent. The feeling intensified and her blood ran cold as the boys smirk grew.
The Zubat zoomed in to attack in a dazzling display of aerial acrobatics. Meanwhile, the poor little Clefairy bravely raised its arms above its head, focused on creating a cloud of glowing leaves about itself, and launched them unerringly with a double armed gesture. The Zubat plowed through the weak attack gathering little more than a few scratches in the process, and connected solidly with the pink fairy Pokemon. Twinkers did manage to roll with the blow, thankfully. It could have been much worse but the exchange was still woefully one sided.

"Technically speaking, tomorrow night our annual company banquet, to thank all our employees personally. In practice, it's my mother's way of throwing an engagement party."
"Engagement party?" Jun asked, mirth in his eyes. "Now, dear Devon, I did say I'd play boyfriend for you, but this is all just /too soon/! My mother /always/ told me marriage was for two people who, well, loved each other, and why, I don't know how I feel about this yet! We hardly know each other," Jun said, expressing mock shock and placing both of his hands on his chest.
Devon laughed heartily. "Oh, shut up. What happened was that my mother had shown me a list of potential wives she'd love me to meet. It was kinda frightening. So before the first arranged meeting I told her I was hustling out to Sinnoh for business -- I'm from Hoenn, you see -- and that she'd have to just wait until I came back. I finally got the balls out here to tell her I wasn't interested in any of them, but she jumped to the conclusion that I had found somebody of interest out here in Sinnoh," he bemoaned humorously. "So you see, I was in quite a pickle until I met you. But I don't think we'll have to actually play the part of a couple at the banquet; just having you there will show my parents I'm serious about not marrying someone else. My mother probably expects to announce my fiance to the company, but I doubt she will want to when she sees you... Wait, no, that sounds wrong. That wasn't said with any negative intent, I swear. It's just that she's so set on me getting married and all to a nice gal, you know?"
Jun waved it off. "Don't worry so much, I'm not that thin-skinned. It is what it is. She's really rushing with this marriage thing, isn't she, though, your mother?" Jun pondered aloud. "I mean, you don't look much older than I, certainly?"
"25, and haven't dated in the last two years."
"Why, Devon!" Jun interjected, adopting his shocked, southern belle accent once again. "How utterly inappropriate! Your peak of virility is slipping away, you'll be old and childless if you don't start taking beaus!"
Devon grinned a bit. Jun reminded him somewhat of his sister with his type of sarcasm.
"Ah, well, my father married my ma right after my grandpa passed away, and they were about 20, so they figure I oughta follow in their footsteps. In any case, since you're in this now, here's the proposed plan. My company lies back in Hoenn, and it's a half-day flight by private plane."
"How spoiled of you."
"Ha. You can leave your Roselia here with the flower specialist here in Floaroma -- trust me, she'll love it, leaves them feeling all refreshed and vibrant and strong (my sister left her Bellossom here when she came with me the first time I went to Sinnoh; I've been in the region long before it opened up to the public, business you know) -- and I'll fly you back after the whole party is over, and you can pick her up. Sounds alright with you?"
Jun mused for a moment. Posh probably wouldn't like taking a break from work just a week out from the show, but Jun was sure most of her designs were more or less done. She'd been overworking herself, though, and maybe a break would do her good. Her flowers did kinda look droopy. "Yeah, sounds good."

The Fearow moved in deftly, it’s sharp beak gleaming in the bright afternoon sky. But Yang was ready for the beast and held it in a firm Psychic attack, forcing it back away from the parachute. But the Fearow wasn’t done yet, no, now it was even more determined to attack the white mass before it! Nothing enters the skies of this Fearow and gets away without a scratch! Perhaps a flurry of quick blows would break down the strange force that pushed it away from the initial assault.
“Here it comes again!” Moti directed as he tried to steer the parachute away from the bird. They were still about two hundred feet off the ground, if Moti could accurately judge vertical distance (which he probably couldn’t). ’Crud. It looks like we’re going closer to the city than we planned. I need somewhere soft to land… ’ he glanced around the cityscape. ’There, a park!’ Moti thought to himself as he tried to angle toward the mass of green.
Meanwhile, Yang directed another Psychic at the approaching Beak Pokemon. Feeling the energy begin to push it away, the Fearow frantically slashed its beak and claws, but to no avail. He once more found himself out of striking distance and boy was he furious! This Fearow was clever though, and he had finally managed to grasp the essence of the force pushing it back. It was a psychic move, and although it couldn’t do it normally, as a master of mimicry, the Fearow was prepared for his next assault.
’He just doesn’t learn!’ Yang chimed to herself. ’Aaaand Psychic!’ she thought as the flying type entered into her range of influence. But something was wrong, it was glowing an ugly brown and her bubbly pink energy just wasn’t doing anything to impeded the speeding Fearow. ’Yikes! Momo, we’ve got a problem!’
“Crap, Yang he’s got us!” Moti shouted as the bird was inches away from the delicate cloth that held the two airborne. Moti stole another glance at the surface: it was coming in quickly but they had missed the larger buildings and were heading directly toward the small park Moti had targeted earlier. The area was relatively clear except for one person that Moti couldn’t make out from their previous angle of descent. It was then that the bird clipped the parachute, ripping a foot long hole in the intricately woven fabric.
The parachute started to pick up speed once again, and, feeling that it’s work was done, the Fearow began the return flight to its flock. “Yang, try to hold the chute pieces in the right place with Psychic for now. In the event that we come in too fast, try to soften our collision with the ground with your Psychic, too.” Moti ordered as his controls were no longer of any use. ’Sorry girl in red,’ Moti thought as the two flew on a crash course with the lone pedestrian in the park, ’this was the best we could do.’

”Zzz!” Calistra hissed as the icy fist landed solidly in the bee’s abdomen. But she wasn’t ready to call it quits yet, as she spit a gob of sticky webbing in the sneasel’s face. Not waiting for the sharp Pokémon to recover she lunged forward her twin stingers aglow
“Another twin needle attack,” Venerax commented as he watched his Pokémon battle. “She must’ve not liked that ice punch all that much.”
Calculus observed the battle from the sidelines, analyzing its compatriot’s chances of winning this battle. There were type advantages, but the beedrill on had a single attack that would cause a great deal of damage to the sneasel, and the sneasel had more experience than its compatriot. Overall it did not believe she would win, though she would likely give the sneasel a hard fight none the less.

"Good job Maipe; we have a friend with us now." She grabbed the Pokeball and threw it up in the air, the Poliwag looking battered and bruised. "Welcome to the team...Nyoro."
"Wag?" She looked up at Mahnaz confused, then looked at Maipe and ran behind her master's leg. "Poli! Poliwag!"
"Lithe?" Maipe looked confused; what did he do? All he did was..well attack it so that his boss could catch it. Besides, why did he want to be near the little slime ball.
"It'll be okay Nyoro; Maipe won't hurt you." She looked at her Growlithe and shrugged. This Poliwag was just shy and calm. Which was nice in contrast to Maipe, who wasn't afraid of jumping out and attacking. "I hope that you'll be an asset."
"Poliwag," she said calmly. But, for some reason, she wanted to prove herself to her new family.
"Well, then let's get going again. Nyoro, return." The red light shone as the Tadpole Pokemon went into it's ball.

Kasiya's heartfelt words would have slain most boys. Such a sweet, lovely girl, professing such profound feelings in the dead of night with such passion, such...pain. He loved it. The boy looked down and smiled, like he had just caught on to a joke told the day before. "What a mess we are." he said, his shoulders jumping slightly as he chuckled. "What are we going to do with ourselves?" he asked the girl with a light shrug, not really expecting an answer. "Oh well." he sighed. "It's nice to know that Keegan is getting such a nice girl. If he ever gets out of line, just smack him. He can't refuse a pretty face. He's like me." Mike motioned for Nitro to come over and taker her down. "You should get some sleep there, Kassie." Mike said softly. "Tomorrow I need everyone in the tippest of top shape." The boy smiled warmly at the girl. "And don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Just grab Mitsu when you're down there alright Nitro?"
Mike waited until Kasiya had left before turning around again, taking another hard look at the sky. "What a delightful girl." he said to himself. "So hard to find someone like that." There were fewer people in the world he valued more than Kasiya. Even thought they had only really known each other for a short amount of time, they had grown to be very close. Mike chuckled at the thought of someone crossing her the wrong way, then turning one day to see him. They wouldn't know who he was, or what he was doing. He'd smile widely, and hold up a flaming fist. They'd understand then. He made a vow then, in honor of their friendship, to punish anyone, anyone that hurt his dear Kasiya.
His arms trembled at his sides, and he clutched his stomach as he fell to the ground, heaving up more molten vomit. His body was still adjusting to his newfound ability, and the transition was starting to become a little less pleasant.
"It's a shame...to lie to her though." he said in between coughs. "Fine...ha....haha..."
------
Mitsu wasn't looking so good, not at all. She was holding her head like it was about to fall off. "Migranes?" she asked. "I have got some peels in here, some asprin, if you would like. Z'hey work for me at least." she stood up and walked over to the girl, putting her arm around her for support. "Is it z'he heat? Stress?" As she asked the purple haired girl she found herself unintentionally rubbing her back. "Whatever eet iz, a good night's rest will make you feel better. A lady needs her beauty rest, especially at our age. We want to be knocking away z'he boys with steecks, non?" she felt a little silly playing the nurturing older sister type when tomorrow they would all be invading a crazy cult and burning it to the ground.
Sasha wore a somber, tired look. "How can you possibly hope to fight in your condition? You could really hurt yourself." The last thing Mike wanted was to get his friends in more trouble because he asked them to help, Mitsu especially. Sasha had seen Mike and her together, he was such a gentleman to her. She could tell he cared for her quite a bit. "Now let's get some rest, oui?"

After he'd rinsed the shampoo from his hair, Keegan was content to continue to stand there under the running water, eyes closed. The air was thick and heavy with steam, and he could feel the vapor in his lungs every time he drew in a breath. He could also feel the pain in his ribs starting to ease off, which meant the painkillers were starting to kick in. For a moment he wondered why they were taking effect so fast, but then he remembered that the last time he'd eaten had been after they'd gotten off the ship in Canalave City. That meal felt like a lifetime ago and the redhead leaned against the wall as a slight wave of dizziness hit him. "Taking Oxycodone on an empty stomach. Brilliant idea, that one," he grumbled, leaning his head against the wall once more and closing his eyes.
"Brilliant? Don't give yourself that much credit," a sultry, female voice whispered from behind him, though the rushing waters nearly drowned it out.
Keegan's eyes snapped open and he whirled around, momentarily forgetting the fact that he was dizzy and he stumbled, grabbing on to the wall of the shower stall to steady himself. He tried to peer through the steam, but there wasn't anything to see other than, well, steam and the stall door. The redhead blinked in confusion and pushed his sopping bangs from his eyes, still staring straight ahead of him. I'm hearing things, he thought, shaking his head. The steam, the Oxycodone, they're getting to me. I need to get out of here and go lie down.
"Are you sure you're not just going crazy?" came the voice again, causing the redhead to startle a second time. Sure, he hadn't been paying full attention when he entered the showers, but he was pretty he'd gone through the door labeled 'men.' He groped around behind him and shut off the water, now almost painfully aware of every sound around him. Drops of water fell from the shower head and from him, and he could hear the sound of the water moving through the pipes behind the wall.
"Who's there?" he snapped, his tone almost a growl. His voice echoed hollowly around him, the air still heavy with steam from the shower. He practically kicked open the shower stall, snatching up his towel and wrapping it around his waist. He did a quick lap around the entire area, surprised, but not entirely, to find that he was indeed the only one there. Of course I'm the only one here, he thought angrily. It'd be no fun if I wasn't.

So, with much further ado, Saebum reluctantly let his sister meander off on her own, feeling as if he was doing something fundamentally wrong but torn between one obligation and another. Well, she did say she was alright. And Saebum had felt this sinking sensation that, while patient and smiling, M.A. wanted to be rid of his presence to be on her own, for better or for worse. She was growing up, he supposed; she ought to be allowed to do her own thing, and she really was safe with that hellish canine at her feet. "Call me if you need anything, I'd fly back in a jiffy!" he called back to his sister while on top his Togekiss. M.A., far below, either didn't hear or simply made no sign of her hearing.
So, the Move Tutor was near some place called Hearthome, according to the map she filched from the PokeCenter before sneaking out. Nurse Joy had assumed she would be staying to rest another day or two and had redressed her wounds quite nicely so that they were nearly entirely covered; to not draw curious eyes, M.A. had thrown on a long sleeve shirt and loose fitting jeans even in the heat of the summer. Before she had done that, she had caught some people looking as if she were some exhibit, looking away guiltily or smiling when her gaze met theirs. She hated the latter, the ones who boldly smiled at her benevolently as if they hadn't been ostracizing her; she decided then for good that she had no interest in photographing people if they were going to think one thing and put on a facade of another. Phoniness wasn't beautiful, and she had already determined that she was going to live -- since she definitely was living -- to horde beautiful things and selfishly hold them against her own heart so she didn't have to feel her own mediocrity and conniving ugliness.
With a painkiller or two -- M.A. had also filched these, since they technically /were/ for her anyways, Nurse Joy just didn't know of her intentions to leave -- she didn't really feel the burns or bruises too much and so sat very comfortably upon Tora's back. The Donphan had eagerly offered her back to M.A. when they first set out, having felt guilty for not being there to help out too much in her time of need. Her other Pokemon were here and there, too; she figured it'd be good for them to have some return to normalcy, since Daemyn still snarled and snapped at every stranger who got as little as three feet from M.A. The other two, free-spirited Ulani, now bodily healed, and Diego, who had begun to paint again, didn't seem too affected by the other day's events, but M.A. figured a typical day in the life of a trainer would do them all good regardless.
"Woaaah! Is that an Altaria? I've never seen one around this region! How pretty!" a chick's voice hailed. M.A. turned her head stiffly -- her body might not hurt, but it definitely wasn't feeling too limber all wrapped up as it was -- to see an aqua-haired girl, probably two years her junior, admiring the Humming Pokemon with admiration. At her side, there was something that looked like a dressless Gardevoir and a hot air balloon.
By the virtue of the Drifblim -- as it indeed was a Drifblim -- being female, Diego felt his heart thumping erratically. Look at that helium-inflated mass of beauty! Why, the way she drifted, made his heart bob as if weightless, too.
Ulani, noting Diego's love-struck expression, sucked up plenty of air (as was her habit when she was a Swablu, although she looked less like a Jigglypuff now and more threatening) in mild irritation. Here he was again, falling for every woman he saw! Sure enough, he had begun to paint that dumb floating thing that, save for its blinking here and there, could have been an inanimate object! Jealousy overtaking her, the Altaria Pecked Diego sharply on the head, not heeding the fact that he was still recovering, to which the Smeargle sobbed a bit. (But he shortly continued painting, much to Ulani's exasperation, and it didn't matter to her that he fell out of love with his sources of inspiration once he finished painting them because he /had/ fallen in love in the first place, and he still hadn't -- as far as she knew -- even started to paint her! Not when she was a Swablu, not now!)
"And wowwww, a Houndoom, a Donphan, and a Smeargle! You really don't see those too much in this region here, either. I gather that you're not from Sinnoh, huh? Woah, these guys look tough! You must be a great trainer!"
M.A. hesitated in answering, uncomfortable in the midst of this girl's positive, almost obnoxious energy. She was looking at M.A. without skipping a beat, without calling to attention her odd, frumpy attire or the fact that a third of her face, shadowed by the sunhat Saebum had insisted she wear so that she not scar, was covered up in a band-aid. M.A. permitted her self-consciousness to fuel into great distaste for this girl who haphazardly threw herself before her, prying with her eyes and high-pitched, cloying voice to make M.A. feel self-conscious to begin with. The aqua-haired kid's stupidly smiling face betrayed nothing of what she really was thinking; maybe she was repulsed, maybe not, and maybe she was just stupid. M.A. instinctively hated the girl's assumption that the brunette would entertain her questions, would be cordial or even friendly, just because she was throwing herself upon her with a disarming smile and "niceness." A bit of it reminded her of herself, and how she'd assume everyone had great intentions, before the events of the last couple weeks. Well you know what, flat-chested shortie? She, for one, didn't have good intentions. She would've loved to punch this sickeningly sweet, sunshiny girl in the face. Not that she'd done anything wrong. M.A. just subconsciously figured that it would've felt perfectly lovely, and possibly get her to shut up, too.
"Oh my gawd, would you do me the honor of battling me? Just to see these guys in action?! I don't want to just fill up my Pokedex with things I've seen, I wanna battle all of 'em!"
M.A. thought to herself for a moment. Well, a return to normalcy. "Sure."

"Revived them?" Jake repeated, looking at Robin incredulously. "How do you revive a fossil?" He pulled his PokeDex out of his pocket and quickly flipped through the extinct Pokemon section again until he found the one that had intrigued him. "I wonder if Roark would know where I could find the fossil to get this guy?" he asked, though he closed the device, the page set on Armaldo, as they were approached by the two strangely-dressed people. Turtwig looked up at the two of them, wondering if they really were two people. It was hard to judge, seeing as how they were holding on to each other.
"Love? Wait, you got it all wrong," Jake protested, holding his hands out defensively. "I, she, we, uh, we hardly even know each other," he added. While it might have not been the case for Robin, it was certainly truthful enough for him.
"Hah, isn't that cute," Nancy laughed. "They say that when someone says something, the usually mean the complete opposite, or something like that." Her baby doll tee and short shorts were just a bit too small and tight for her, making her look like a woman who was trying to relive her glory days as a hot teenager, but she was slightly less scary than her boyfriend. "That's a marvelous idea, Martin, my dear!" she gushed. "They're cute all right but our bond is much stronger, since we've been together longer!" She now held a Pokeball in her hand, and was eying Jake and Robin eagerly.
"We're not a couple!" Jake protested again, looking down at Robin who was nearly on the ground as she was laughing so hard. He glanced back up at Nancy, now seeing the Pokeball. "Looks like they want a battle," he said, nudging Robin. "How does this work, with all four of us?" He was genuinely curious and confused, as he'd only had that one battle with Beth earlier, and against those few wild Pokemon. He tried to look confident though, which was something seeing as how nervous he felt.
=-=-=-=-= "Snee!" Ikouma ducked to avoid the String Shot as it made a beeline (no pun intended!) for his face, but the follow-up Twineedle was unexpected and the Ice and Dark-type was subject to a stabbing sensation throughout his gut. Ikouma, like always, was fast to recover and this time he jumped back, his body phasing out before vanishing completely. A split second later he reappeared behind Callistra in a wisp of dark smoke, letting out a sharp cry as he lashed out at the Beedrill with his sharp claws once again.
"Faint Attack," Karrigan nodded to herself, remembering when he'd first learned the attack. She'd always been impressed by the Sneasel's ability to think for himself during battle, as it was a nice change of pace from working with Zaira. The Shinx in question was still watching the battle from atop Aegeus' head, and even the Onix was starting to feel a bit eager to battle as he watched the Sneasel and Beedrill duking it out.
