"I can see that. He really doesn't take to you well." She glanced at him "Your mother seems proud of you though." She gave him a quick glimpse of a smile.

"My mother is far more practical than my father is. My father was an Echani warrior of great renown. He killed far more than I ever have and probably ever will. He believed that a strict code of conduct helped him do this, as well as a fierce devotion to the gods of war. My mother didn't agree, but she loved him, so she didn't say anything."

"So it would seem." She pushed back some hair that had fallen into her eyes "He doesn't like that you're not following in his footsteps...He lacks anyone to brag about...." She thought her own parents, who thought she had been innocent and harmless. After her father was banished it became blaintantly obvious she was far from that. She always had a bit of a distant relationship with family anyway, so it really didn't matter.

Jami nodded slowly. "It's a story I know all too well. I think that he prefers Rayce to me, but he keeps me only because of my mother. He also hates the Jedi."

"What does he have against Jedi?" She asked, knowing there were many around the galaxy who particularly didn't like jedi either. Taris was a planet dominated by jedi haters, because they tried to bring order, but that planet was ignored really.

Jami turned, and a hint of a smile crossed his lips. "My mother's last name is Sunrider. Whether she is related to Nomi Sunrider or just carries the same last name by coincidence, I don't know. In any case, the blood of Jedi runs through the veins of her family, though it skips generations. My grandfather was a Jedi, though I don't believe my mother was. If she was, she keeps it well hidden.
"Anyways, my grandfather was a Jedi. My father hates my grandfather."

"...right." Only now she noticed she overstepped the boundary. "So. Even though I would usually say no to training you. I think you have great talent, despite your age, and I like the way you fight. So once I finish my...discussions with the council if you really want to I guess I could teach you a few things. " She paused to breathe a moment.
