l-lellboy People are actively terrified of your children?
Perhaps they sense the tiny martial-arts masters to be... ninja
In all seriousness, though, sorry to hear that. Hard to imagine someone acting like that towards little ones. confused She was one of those "I hate children, I'm an ogre, keep them away from me" people and she went out of her way to put stuff where my kids were playing. I don't hit women, but I was sorely tempted to loosen her teeth for her. She bailed very quickly on day one and then abandoned her table before the show on day two once it became obvious that my wife was going to beat the hell out of her if she opened her mouth again.

And in the more people that need a punch in the face column:
I know my wife has a tough job on the Oncology/Hematology floor at the Children's hospital, but it's standard practice break the news of the passing of a patient gently not just blurt out "**** is dead." as soon as you see someone walk onto the floor. She spent the rest of her 12 hour overnight shift trying to do her job and not break down and cry.
And Topeka, Kansas still needs to be burnt to the ground and the earth salted. The WBC are reason enough, but when the preacher at my brother and sister in law's church decides to talk about how people get in car accidents and the like because they are 'not right with God', then I really just lose all hope for anything good to come out of there. That son of a b***h was at the hospital when my nephew passed away from his injuries after my brother in law's car got hit. I knew that church was full of crap when they were faking speaking in tongues. So, I'm going to make a trip out to that horrible town in March and tell my brother he needs to find another church, because the poor guy already blames himself for Noah's death and he doesn't need a 'spiritual leader' reenforcing that.

Joey, who runs the LCS I go to always has been clever. With the Obama Spider-Man cover thing coming out he ordered 1000 extra copies to give away and had a guy in a Spider-man costume there for the kids. The store was pretty damned busy yesterday.
Way to milk the Obama-mania cash cow!

Ugh. I've been leary to subscribe to a book that I'm hardly committed to getting. (Since BND, the only arcs to really impress me are Slott's) As such, I got ******** last week when I tried to get the Obama issue. Came back this week to get the 2nd printing variant, got similarly ********. (Despite getting there not a half hour after the shop opened...) Is this a sign from a higher power that I should drop ASM? I think so.
The thing that gets me isn't even that it's selling out for its quality. Half the people in the (insanely busy) shop didn't even buy comics regularly. They'd all just reserved copies of the Obama cover, (which one of the store's lackeys falsely informed me was not being done stare ) being the profiteering whores that they are.

When Cap died my LCS owner Ted went out after the first week and bought a new car with cash.
Obama has literally moved him to a bigger store. Which is I am totally fine with.

Ok, so my annual hiatus is going to have to be for a while longer than usual.
My laptop died just before the new year began, and all of my funds are currently channeled towards replacing it.
Except, of course, I work at a toy store AFTER Christmas so this may take awhile longer than expected.
March, hopefully.

My laptop died right before Christmas (and of course during finals week), so I know how frustrating that experience can be! I hope you pull funds quickly and a magical steady stream of consumers pour into your store. gonk heart

I just had the most horrifying work experience of my life.
It was a very slow night and right before I got cut a man in his 30s, maybe early 40s, gets sat in my section. All he wants is a beer and some fries. Once I get him his beer it starts acting weird, muttering and looking around a lot. When I gave him his fries he engaged me in conversation and small talk rapidly evolved into creepy territory. What I'm studying in school became where I go to school, where I live, and what time I get off. I just kinda laugh him off and push retail on him (as servers we get hassled to sell retail by our managers and I hadn't sold any at that point). He was interested in a shirt so I take him up front where we have them on display and he becomes completely enamored with the Island Girl shirt which has a woman whose boobs are barely covered with a lei. I sell him the shirt and he goes and sits back down.
After a little while he comes and finds me on the other side of the restaurant, in the bus station of all places, and asks if I'd wear the shirt for little while. Still trying to be friendly, and completely thrown off by the question, I ask him to go sit back down and I'll be over in a minute. I drop some drinks off to another table and then go over to him were he starts incoherently explaining how he wants me to wear the shirt for a while, work in it, and then take it off and sign it for him.
I declined, he got irritated, I tried to leave, and he grabbed my wrist. I wretched my arm free and got my manager and he was thrown out and banned from ever coming back. I was cut directly after the incident and used my tips to take a taxi home because I didn't want to take the off chance of seeing him on the street on the way - which is honestly very likely as he was a tourist and I walk in a straight line from one end of Waikiki to the other to get from my house to work.
I am still distressed over the whole ordeal. I'm going to ask to return to being a hostess/busser again. Not just because of this but I've been thinking about it for a while and although the money is good, being a server is longer hours and more work and this is my last semester of school and in all honesty I kind of want to have more goofing off time. This just clenched the deal.

Very smart move taking the taxi home. Kinda surprised your manager or one of your co-workers didn't give you a lift, but I don't know how slammed the restaurant was at that point. It's always the tourists too. I remember almost every time a customer got creepy and out of line with the waitresses at the bar it was nearly always a tourist.
Glad you're alright.

I'm sorry that happened to you Nat. I've been through some experiences with creepy men/boys. It's not all that fun when it happens.
I agree with patience. The shirt thing is gross and disgustingly creepy. Glad you manager was there to help you out. And that you took the taxi home.
I'm glad you're ok. smile
The change might be good. My friend was a bar tender and went so far as change restaurants to get away from the creepy.
