Kenny picked up the unfinished sketch and smiled. There was a warmth he couldn't explain when he saw art he thought he had succeeded with. He didn't know it, but it was the same warmth that fathers looked upon their growing children with as they became responsible adults, and that lovers felt when they saw each other after long absences. He drew over smaller sketch lines with darker more final lines, as his mind ticked away at the next detail.
The phone rang. The caller ID said it was his grandmother. Oh god, he thought, this was gonna happen over and over again until he answered it. He picked it up. "Hey Kenny what's going on?"
"Oh just drawing, listening to music, getting ready to work out, winding down for the night."
"Oh, Cassie is over here, and we aren't doing anything, but do you wanna come visit anyway?"
"Sure I'll come visit."
Kenny set the phone down, then his drawing pad which was just an old cooler lid and set his pencil on top of it. 'God ******** damn them. Can't they understand "drawing?" what the ******** is wrong with them?' he thought to himself.
