The bare bones of a silence hung in the air for a moment and he continued resisting the urge to turn around and actually see for himself if she really was alright or if there was anything he could do to make her more comfortable. That bag would have to be used but consulting Eilynne first was probably a good idea. A surprised blink to himself as she seemed to read his thoughts and he paused for a moment before deciding to take her word for it and indeed turning himself around, letting his eyes rest strictly upon her face. "Are you feeling hot...?" Because that was the only explanation for her choice right?

She was suddenly very uncomfortable, even more so than she had been before...her mind told her that she as merely feeding off his own quite obvious discomfort. She was pretty sure that his neck was going to snap if he tried to hold it unnaturally any straighter or tried to not turn his head as it need to go. Letting her tail snake out, she pulled over a nearby blanket with it, draping the piece of cloth over herself to perhaps put him more at ease. "No...I just can't stand the feeling of things against my skin right now...makes my skin seems to crawl more." And this blanket was not making it better on her, but it at least would make him feel better. Well what now?

And the cook suddenly found himself sitting out in the middle of the sands. Shyrae stomped angrily up on deck of the Chimera, lugging a pot of foul smelling soup, and tossed it over the side, narrowly missing scalding him in the process. Throwing the heavy cast-iron pot over as well, she plopped her hands on her hips and took a deep breath. She felt a little better. Her hand moved up to her cheek that was still burning and she wiped off the soup that had been left there. "Next time maybe you won't be so quick to react without thought."

Mister Robins found that a matter of celebration indeed. Now Des could have what she wanted and Gem would be happy too. "Indeed. Celebration for all! Where's that rum you lily livered sasuages?" That wasn't very pirate-y but hey, it worked. "Move it and maybe you can have some. And someone tell Gally to make us a nice big treat of some sorts. He has all sorts of spices and whatnot."

You couldn't really control peripheral vision. You could pay selective attention to certain things you were seeing but you couldn't deny the existence of other things that were still within that scope. Thus he "saw" her pull the blanket over herself, heard her words at the same time, and instinctively cocked his head curiously. "Then why are you using the blanket?" So that was why she had taken all her clothes off, that made sense. This, however, didn't. Thus he merely waited for a logical answer, eyes roaming over her face but not being able to decipher her emotions either.

He blinked at the sight not too far from him of Shyrae apparently was having an altercation of the cooking sorts. "Yikes, that doesn't look too appetizing at all." Shaking his head with a chuckle. "Shyrae why are you not playing nice with others?"

She snorted at the smell and shook her head before rubbing at her nose as if it was going to help. She couldn't see what her brother could, but she could smell it and her brother's words filled her in more or less. "Causing more trouble are you? I'm supposed to be the mean one, remember?"

Gem raised an eyebrow. "Sausages?" That one made her giggle...one of his less creative ones, but it worked non the less now didn't it? Muchly. With a chuckle she let it go. "Muffins, among other things. I crave a muffin and I'm celebrating, I think it's a good thing.

It was one of those times where his logic failed him and made for awkward pauses for others. What she was supposed to explain to him her sudden modesty? For the moment she clung to that blanket despite the fact that she was aware that it was making her body temperature rise, making her all the more uncomfortable than she already was for the day and that crawly feeling of fabric brushing her skin making her give a visible shudder. Oh that was horrible. "You just seemed...uncomfortable with me using just my wings..."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 05, 2007 10:12 pm

She frowned at the duo for a moment and shook her head, clutched hands trembling slightly now that the initial moment of anger had dissipated. "He...slapped me with the spoon. I apparently overstepped my bounds or something..." Before she'd come here she'd never been slapped before in her life. Hunter had backhanded her first though she might be willing to admit that she could possibly have deserved a tiny part of that one. Tiny and really insiginificant part. But this one, she hadn't, not even a little bit. It didn't matter that she wasn't supposed to touch his signature soup. She refused to serve rotten meat to anyone.

"Muffins it is." Grabbing a random pirate, he delivered the order and then used his boot to push him along when he wasn't moving quite fast enough. "You are far too excited that that dragoness is off your ship. If she finds out you're partying, she'll just nest right back on it between her times with Hunt."

Emotions might not show through but natural bodily reactions did and he saw her pale cheeks start flushing before that shudder happened. Flushing meant she was either embarrassed or increasing in bodily temperature; in this situation, it could be both. And so by default, she couldn't be shuddering because she was cold. She said her skin was crawling... What did that mean? "I thought you would be uncomfortable if I saw you. If you're hot though or if your skin is... crawling, take that off." Or he could just take charge like usual and do it for her. Thus shifting forward a bit, he turned her around and pulled the blanket away from her, draping it over the crate instead and then trailing sensitive fingertips down her back briefly. "You are hot." A blink at the observation.

Swat. "Come now my dear Mister Robins, don't ruin my fun with such thoughts. Besides her no wanting to come back just proves that she never wanted me in the first place anyway. She certinally didn't try hard enough." Shaking her head and crossing her arms. "And my boys can work sans distraction." Hell, Gem could walk around her own ship naked and none of them woudl stare.

Dhairiss frowned at her. "Slappped you with a spoon? I would say you were used to that but your mother never slapped you with spoon, merely bonked you on the head." Flipping around and sliding off the railing to walk over to her and take her chin in his hand, turning her head to get a look at her. "Yeah your skin looks a tad darker. Hurt badly?" She seemed to be handling it well.

Savryn remained where she was on the railing, hands gripped to the wood besided her so that she didn't fall off. A look up though as Chylithair landed on her shoulder and gave a nibble at one of the beads in her hair. Well...there went her brother, mister fix-it and inspect-it. "You want me to rot his fingers off?" And she always took to harsher course didn't she?"

She blinked for a moment as he got that look that he was making conclusions in his head about things. "Nothing to be embarassed about. You've seen the same things before...just clad in scales and no curves." Well it was true, and frankly Jae never much made a big distinction between her two forms. Offguard however as with some manuevering he had gotten her turned around, perhaps to keep the level of embarassment from rising, and took her blanket, leaving her back exposed to him. Yeah that definitely felt better.

Jae clapped a hand over her mouth at the small noise that jumped out her throat and the slight arching of her back as he ran fingertips, not matter how briefly down her back and thus in between her wings. Oh good beings in heaven...apparently that spot was quite sensitive to touch. Wings relaxed somewhat before looking over her shoulder and him. Sometimes he didn't think before he said things did he? But no matter to that...it was just him and she found it rather endearing. "Icey oriented dragon and no scale coloring...suppose it makes me a bit more predisposed to temperature."

Desdemona put her hands on her hips, noting that the galley's special soup just got tossed.

"Oh come on! that's a good soup."

walking over and looking over the side at the galley who was cleaning off his pot and probably saying not so pleasent things about shyrae at the moment. glancing at the three elves.

"Just because it's not your finery doesn't mean it's not good."

before gliding off and picking up galley and his pot, and placing him back on the deck, to which he gave shyrae and dirty look and went back down below to probably remake his soup.

Hunter came out of his cabin, looking around. a slight raise of an eyebrow at Desdemona, but that was about it. apparently her restriction was removed.

"Alright, what's going on?"

She never made a big distinction because she could do it naturally, without a care in the world. He, however, couldn't and thus since that day he'd already developed a certain hesitancy to morphing into natural form, which consequently clearly defined the boundary lines between the two for him. He was more comfortable in this humanistic form, he was safer. "It's different." But his tone was not one meant to provoke an argument and instead, his attention pinpointed that sound that escaped her and zoomed in on it, making him drop his hand immediately. That meant pain or sensitivity, neither was too good right? "Yes, but if you were well again your body should be able to acclimate your temperature better." Merely frowning as he watched the back of her neck. "What have you been doing?"

Well...if her cheeks weren't flushed before they were now, tinting the scaling under her eyes pink for the time being. Had had felt entirely too good. But it seemed also that that miscommunication line had drawn tight again as he dropped his hand quickly. Oh yeah just what you needed Jae. Stop it. You're his friend. Thusly she cleared her throat. "I suppose you're right. And I guess I'm not all better yet...I'm sure I will be soon." Because she was starting to feel like dead weight on this trip despite Eilynne's words. "Well...I ate, then I kind of just laid around on deck for a while. Eilynne came to keep me company and we talked about a lot of things. About the trip, about the Laerethe mostly." It was weird talking to him like this and thusly she shifted some so that she was put in profile to him, wings still hiding everything that was considered modest in this form. At least she had peripheral vision of him now. "Did you know that the Leathre don't die? And they have no weather, and there are no accidents on their plane."

"Those remedies will help." Look, an attempt at optimism. Being around her was probably more advantageous than he thought, she influenced him in strange ways like that. A blink at the mention of Eilynne and the Laerethe in general though, a certain spark of intrigue reentering his eyes. "No... I didn't. They live forever then? With no system of aging?" That one thing already had him pinned, weather and accidents and such would have to wait in line. With something captivating his interest though, his mind no longer focused on her state of undress and he didn't display any particular reaction to her turning, merely continued to watch her in earnest for answers.

"I'm sure they will, you have an eye for things." And the awkwardness seemed to flutter away from space like birds from a window sill when the window was flung open. A little nod from her. "Somehow we got on that subject and she explained it to me. They technically live forever in their own plane till they choose that they no longer want to retain a physical body. Then they relinquish themselves to the goddess and simply fade from a phsyical existance. They age, but it's so slow that I wouldn't call it aging. Their powers tend to start to malfunction to show age over physical apperance."

"Not across the face and certainly not one covered with boiliing stew. He's lucky I'm an elf, though not too badly. More stung and was hot." Taking a deep breath and then chuckling at Savvy, "No, I think his voyage in the sands was enough to remind him not to do so again. If he does it again, however, I'll gladly take you up on that offer and become the sole cook on this ship until I train another and take my leave."

Desdemona got a quirk of an eyebrow and she chuckled, "My finery? You think I eat out of gilded cups with golden spoons? I eat the same slop you do day after day and I make it. I have no problems with his recipes. Find out all of the facts before you speak or you'll merely look foolish." Turning to glance at Hunter, she shrugged. "Your cook was trying to poison you all with rotten meat. I informed him that wasn't a wise move."

"Dragons will eat anything sometimes." Brushing her hair from her face and letting her fingers move on the scratch at Chylithair. And it seemed the captain was out and about again. Did he only show up to command order on his ship? She was starting to think so. But a not to her friends words...hey one could always use more fingers for something or other.

Dhairiss gave a nod, satisfied that she was okay, seeing as she didn't seem to be in any distress to be had. "Rotten meat, never a good thing. Smells horrible too. But no harm done and any crisis averted right?" Ever the peace maker.
