Actually, I can see what some people might think is odd, but you actually did it right - the jacket's front edge is sticking out a bit, right? So it would look just like that. You got a nice 3D-thing going on therewithout even trying.

Hmm... the skirt seems flat... some more shading is in order, methinks. To do that without ruining the pattern, make a new layer above the skirt layer,s et it to Soft Light, and brush in highlights and shadows with white and black. Instant shading!

Also, the shirt is shaded, but I can only tell if I look really, really carefully. The shading needs to be darker.

so I can highlight and shadow to make shading? I sorta of knew that but do you have to have the color on black and white? and would it make a different if it wasn't?

Sharpie - what program are you using to do your edits?

It makes a big difference in how you might go about your shading. Do you use MSPaint or do you use a program like Photoshop?
Also, usually, to do shading and highlights, I go with darker and lighter shades of the colour I'm working on. Black and white are reserved for the deepest shadows and brightest highlights.

Ok.. so yeah... use a layer on top of your base colours and lay down your shadows and highlights, using the different shades of the base colour.

Also, try Lucca's method as well... see which works best for you. Play around a bit with layers and stuff. xd

If you set your shading layer to Soft Light, the highlights and shadows you paint in with black and white won't actually be black and white on the avatar.

Pretty nice, Sharps. One hint: the highlights in hair curve around the head like a halo. Otherwise I think you've nearly got it! biggrin

*smacks forehead, shakes Mercy's hand* Yes! That was it! I knew something seemed off, but I couldn't put my finger on it...
