Her eyelids were heavy as she found the spot over his heart and swirled her tongue, her teeth scraping once, twice, then sinking deep to connect them together.

Valzar closed his eyes, savoring the feeling but...he couldn't escape the sense that something still was not right...there was something that needed to be done, to bring her even closer...

Callista had heard the words many times, but didn't know if they would work if she said them. Slowly she withdrew and sealed the pinpricks, speaking the ritual words as she did so. "I claim you as my lifemate. I belong to you. I offer my life for you. I give you my protection, my allegiance, my heart, my soul, and my body. I take into my keeping the same that is yours. Your life, happiness, and welfare will be cherished and placed above my own for all time. You are my lifemate, bound to me for all eternity and always in my care."

"The ritual words. In normal circumstances, they bind lifemates together, reconnect the two souls back into one. I don't know if they worked on us, but if they did, any unease we had about being separated before will be much worse. We'll have to touch minds often when we're not together, and we won't be able to be away from each other for long." She smiled, blushing a little, "And we'll need to do...what we just did...a lot..."
