 L U S T R E P A W- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -[Lustrepaw's eyes widened in terror as he dug his claws deeper into Cinderstreak's skull, the fear of falling off making him instinctively clutch tighter. When he heard his mentor growl at him, he snapped back to his senses and forced himself to calm down.]
Lustrepaw, you're not going to fall off! Climb up!
[He told himself firmly as he pushed himself off Cinderstreak with all the strength he could muster, wincing as he realised that he probably already gave his mentor a very good scratching.]
At least that's over...wonder if he's mad?
[He opened his mouth to ask Cinderstreak how he was...when his mentor snarled at him, his tail lashing furiously.]
Mousebrained brat? Oops...
[His ears and tail immediately drooped as he gazed sadly at his mentor. If he was a twoleg kit, his eyes would already be tearing up, ready to bawl any minute.]
"I-I'm sorry..."

I asked, spitting curses at myself inwardly. [I shook slightly, and dared to speak.] "I didn't mean you," I meowed, straightening myself up. [I quickly sat down on the branch that he was on, feeling it creak in protest. I wrapped my tail around the kit, sighing.] "It's okay, I didn't mean to yowl at you. It wasn't for you, I was just.....talking to myself." I meowed the last part slower as I tried to think of an excuse. [I didn't want to sound like I was crazy.
I coughed, nudging the kit....no, apprentice slightly.] "I'm mad at myself, not you. I shouldn't have yowled at myself out loud, I guess."

L U S T R E P A W- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [Lustrepaw's ears were still drooping, but at Cinderstreak's words one ear pricked back up halfway.]
"Yeah, sorry for scratching you..."
[He had no idea how to make an apology, but that sounded good enough. He lifted his head to his mentor, disappointment and confusion clouding his eyes.]
"Am I a horrible apprentice?"
[He blurted out as he gazed sadly into Cinderstreak's eyes. His gaze never wavered, but a few moments later he started squinting harder as he looked into his mentor's eyes harder, as though searching for something.]
"You have green eyes? I thought you had blue eyes..."
[He muttered quietly, half to himself and half to his mentor.]
Could've sworn that his eyes were blue when we were in front of Silverstar...must be my imagination, probably I was just hungry. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I shook my head.] "I don't think you're a horrible apprentice, so I doubt that you are," I reassured the gray apprentice, smiling. "We all make mistakes, and we just have to live with them."
I coughed slightly at the tom's next question, taken off guard. "Erm, no, my eyes are green," I meowed, feeling my face grow warmer. He was noticing.....would he be the first to confirm it?
I changed the subject quickly. "Let's worry about my eyes later, and practice climbing trees, young one," I meowed, starting down the tree. I unsheathed the claws I had left in my front paw, and started down, my feet almost making indents in the bark. I felt queasy. Heights had always scared me.
I heard a snort. Scared, 'young one'? Night jeered. I could almost see the tom, just a shadow, sitting below me, his blue eyes glittering in the sunlight.
I snarled inwardly, narrowing my eyes. "No," I meowed quietly, making sure Lustrepaw didn't hear me. I lashed out at Night, but didn't hiss. Night's hollow eyes just stared up at me. He quickly faded away, and I resumed climbing down.
When I was half way down, I jumped, but my muscles screamed in protest. I winced, more aware of the stinging holes from Lustrepaw grasping me. I shook my head, and padded away from the tree.
I sat down, not too far away from the tree trunk. I smiled up to my apprentice, nodding. "Now you try," I meowed encouragingly.

[Sullenpaw huffed before she took a step towards where Firestorm was sitting during his example. She nodded silently, hiding her small amount of distaste for the exercise before she followed his path, though much more slowly. Her first leap she caught the branch with her front paws, claws digging in as she wriggled and squirmed, struggling to get her hind legs onto the branch- though she got it accomplished. Sullenpaw wasted no time hopping to the next, getting better as she went before it was simply second nature. She had gone around two times, not willing to stop before she halted in front of Firestorm again, breathing coming almost regularly.] "How'd I do?" [The question came in a small pant before she sat down again, waiting for her summary.]

Stop worrying about his eyes, Lustrepaw! It's probably only the light...
[Lustrepaw peered over the branch he was sitting on, gazing at the ground. He had never climbed up this high before, and he had to admit, it was a little unnerving. He turned himself around and started climbing down, keeping a constant lookout at the ground. Although it was a little scary for his first time, it was quite fun all the same. He felt so tall when he was so high up! Not like in camp, when almost every other cat was bigger than him. When he was about a fox-length away from the ground, he closed his eyes and jumped off, instincts taking over and righting himself to land on the ground safely, without a scratch.]
"How was that? Did I do ok?"
[He asked a little anxiously, his eyes flicking from the tree and back to Cinderstreak.] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"Let's see how fast it takes you to get to about....midway up that tree," I meowed. "Just a practice run before we tackle a taller one. I don't want you to get stuck on a taller one." I sat down, my friendly gaze resting on my apprentice expectantly.

[Softpaw went out for another hunt. She was so eager to hunt. She saw a squirrel and it saw her to. It began to race up the tree. She knew she was so much faster that the brown creature. Softpaw began to chase it. She zoomed by Lustrepaw and Cinderstreak, going straight up the trunk. She reached for the squirrel, it almost slipped away but her claws had already dug in.]"Gotcha!"[She said happily. She slid down the tree in ease, noticing Lustrepaw and Cinderstreak.]"Oh hello!" ((I have to have a love life for her!!))

[Lustrepaw crouched down onto his front paws, his rump wriggling in the air as he prepared for his headlong dash. Gritting his teeth in determination, he snarled fiercely as he dashed towards the tree, as though the tree was his foe and he was about to conquer it. At the last second, however, a gray shape zoomed past her and up the tree, much faster than himself. In his confusion, Lustrepaw forgot to jump and ended up crashing headlong into the tree.]
"Ow...why's everything spiiiiiiinning..."

Perfect, I purred, quickly pushing the tom out of the way. I pushed him to the back of his, now my head, and a smile appeared on what was Cinderstreak's muzzle.] "Absolutely perfect," I half growled, smiling to myself. [I flexed my shoulders, feeling them ripple gently under my fur. I glanced down at a small puddle, smirking at myself in my reflection. My eyes grew clouded, and soon morphed from their pine green, turning various colors, until they were a light blue.] Just how I like it, I thought happily.
[I felt alarm and anger radiate from Cinderstreak, and my head soon prickled from his claws. Of course this was all internally. I didn't care much for his opinion.
My blue eyes flickered over to Lustrepaw, who was sitting at the bottom of the tree. My black nose twitched, and I trotted over to Cinderstreak's apprentice, smirking slightly. I licked the tom's head gently, but a flicker of surprise came on inside me. It was a lump!
I coughed, licking his head again.] "Way to go genius," I meowed, unable to hide another toothy grin. What made you think you could run into a tree and wind up at the top when you saw me try to do it?" I asked jokingly.

[Burrpelt lifted hisself up and padded after Featherheart. He flicked his ears and gazed at Skywhisker.] "Hello." [he mewed in greeting. He wondered if he should say something else.] "I've been told you like to hunt. We could hunt together sometime then." [He suddenly felt embarrased. The skin under his fur fushed with warmth.] "If you want." [he added quickly. Now he felt even more stupid.]That is too soon;
Cut them in July,
Then they will die.

[Lustrepaw was still slurring his words as he shook his head to clear his mind, blinking a few times as he gazed up the tree.]
"I'm gonna try again..."
[He muttered as he staggered up to the trunk drunkenly, digging his front claws into the trunk and hauling himself upwards. A splitting headache was pounding at him, but he narrowed his eyes furiously as he hauled himself upwards, inch by difficult inch.]

I heard an annoyed and frightened yowl at the back of my head. Stop him, he'll fall! Cinderstreak growled frantically.
I snorted. "Stop it, he'll be fine. He's just a little dizzy, that's all," I meowed, my light blue eyes glittering in the sunlight. I grinned, a toothy smile dancing across my muzzle.
I felt something small land on my tail, and I froze, my blood turning to slush. I yowled, jumping into the air. I felt myself thump against the tree, and I heard a loud ribbit. I narrowed my eyes, growling. "Mousedung, it's just a frog," I growled to myself. My eyes were mere slits, and I growled even louder as I heard Cinderstreak howling with laughter. "Shut up, it wasn't funny!" I snarled out loud, swiping at the air in front of my. Cinderstreak seemed to unmoved by this action because he laughed even harder.
