Hearing that Ace had more problems with Black*Star then Turtwig caused Robin to look down at the duo. Jaeshan seemed to be lost in thought about something so she waited for him to come out of it while she dealt with her pokemon. Black*Star seemed to be glaring at Ace but the Monferno just didn't seem to care all that much. Ace didn't seem to be having any problems. Oh well, she was sure that they would work themselves out with time. Nodding to herself Robin patted her Monferno on the head. "I am going to need you in battle ready condition Ace since if we run into any trainers your all I got to take care of me right now."

Looking up at Robin, Ace stared at her for a moment before looking around. Where was Luffy? She usually went everywhere with him right? Well this time she didn't really seem to be traveling with him. Shrugging Ace nodded and let himself into the pokeball so that he could take a nap and not waste any energy running around.

What was this about the stupid fire monkey being her only defense? Black*Star was here and she wouldn't even need to send out the weak looking other pokemon, he could defend his number one fan all by himself! Snorting he watched as the other pokemon ran back into his pokeball in fear. Of course he should be afraid that Black*Star might come and beat him for his earlier rudeness.

Hearing Jaeshan's voice again Robin glanced up at him and practically jumped up in excitement when he did agree to go with her on his own free will. "Yay! We are going to have so much fun!" She cried grabbing him and pulling him into a big hug like she did for her pokemon. She soon realized what she was doing though and let the older boy go. "Ah sorry about that!" She couldn't help laughing in excitement though. It had been a long time since she had traveled with someone, Ampersand didn't count seeing as he wasn't a trainer.

Following Jaeshan out Black*Star at her heals, Robin wondered about his last question about gym battles. Jaeshan should know all about gym battles! He had more badges then Robins two, she couldn't help the spike of pride that went through her as she thought about her two hard won badges. Maybe he thought that Sinnoh had different rules? Well from what she could see they didn't really have any different rules, then again she wasn't the best person to ask on this. "Hmm, well the gyms seem to be the same here in Sinnoh then the other three regions. I am not the best judge though since I only have two gym badges. Still, you go in, challenge solve the puzzle if they have one, well I haven't seen any puzzles but they are supposed to have them, and then you fight for you badge. You still get a TM and the prize money to on top of the badge." A thought occurred to Robin then, maybe he wanted to find out more about Roark? That was probably why he was asking, he wanted to find out more about the gym leader he would be challenging! "Oh you probably wanted to know more about Roark! Sorry I probably just wasted all your time! Roarks a rock type gym leader. Your Turtwig should do really well against him." At least that was if Robin remembered right. Grass was strong against rock right?

She snuck up to the very top deck, and blended in with the crowd of people waiting to descend the gangplank. She scanned Canalave's horizon as she was jostled by eager Trainers. Canalave was a large city, larger then Azalea and Fuschia. She noticed that they were docking in the middle of a canal that divided the city in half. A large drawbridge connected the two halves. Eztli decided she liked the overall architecture of the city, even if she didn't like the abundance of water. As the gangplank was lowered, the crowd pushed forward and Eztli nearly fell. As she stumbled her way onto the dock, she wondered once more how in the world she was going to find Mixcoatl. Now that she saw how big Canalave was alone, she wanted to despair about her chances of finding her brother in the huge Sinnoh region. But she would not allow herself to think her situation hopeless for it would accomplish nothing. As she descended, she wanted to keep with the crowd to stay hidden, but the crowd quickly dispersed with their own intentions in mind. Now Eztli stood alone, looking lost as she glanced around at the tall buildings surrounding her. She didn't have anywhere to go, so she just walked forward, pretending she had somewhere to go. She eventually ended up in front of a library a couple of stories tall. Having nothing better to do, she entered. The building was peaceful and quiet, just how Eztli liked it. She traveled up to the top floor, and grabbed a book on Sinnoh's myths. She began to peruse it, reading about the Lake Guardians and a Pokemon that lived in an opposite world. Eztli found these vaguely interesting, but she was too wrapped up in her own dilemma to care.

Eventually she sat by a window that gave her a full view of the city. She couldn't help but stare out it, hoping for a glimpse of Mix, though she knew it was highly improbably he was even in Canalave. Still, the view was nice, and she allowed herself to relax and enjoy it. Until she glanced towards the canal and saw two figures walking along the lower canal, where the maintenance workers walked. Normally, Eztli would have ignored them, but she noticed that one had black hair much like her own, and the other had flamingly bright red hair, much like Mix's kidnappers. 'It can't be...It's a coincidence. I can't get my hopes up.' But Eztli couldn't help it, she found herself carefully tracking them as they made their way up to the public sidewalk, and she followed their progress as they made their way through the city, though they never stopped anywhere. Certainly unusual. Eztli found herself standing, leaving the book on the table, and going to the first floor, exiting the library and heading towards where she had last seen the pair. She saw them a few hundred feet ahead of her, and she suddenly stopped, shrinking back into shadows. Why where they out and about, with nowhere to go? Something wasn't right, and Eztli knew that going after her brother right that second was not the best idea. Instead, she followed as discreetly as possible, sticking to the shadows and pretending to be interested by a few stores and street vendors she passed by. She hoped they hadn't seen her, and if they had, that they wouldn't recognize her.

"We have a tail," Kai suddenly said, after hours of wandering. Mixcoatl wanted to look back and validate what Kai said, but that would give him away.

"You know this for sure?" he asked instead.

"Sure. Female, brown hair, red shirt, khaki pants." As he said this, Mixcoatl had a sudden sinking feeling. He was surprised to find that he thought it had been Eztli. Why would he want it to be Eztli? If it had been Eztli, she would have been dead by now. But now this raised a new question. Who was tailing them, and why? Red, Mix knew, was a traditional color of Team Magma, and sometimes Team Rocket, but Kai's scanty discription meant that he didn't think their tail was from either of these organizations. Mixcoatl didn't believe it was coincidence that this person just happened to be behind them all the time, since they had followed a very long and aimless route.

"What should we do?" Mix asked.

"Take her out?"

"That seems a bit extreme. Besides, we are in a public place. Wouldn't be very discreet, now would it?" Kai glanced sideways, his eyes narrowing at Mixcoatl's condescending tone, but conceding that he was right.

"So what? Chat her up, kidnap her, then take her out?"

"What is with you and killing random people? How about we just ignore her until she goes away?"

"She's been following us for an hour or so, my guess she isn't going to give up so easily."

"Well...Let's just go talk to her okay? Nicely for once. If she's a threat, then yeah, take her out." They turned around, and began to walk back towards the girl in red. About 50 feet away, Mix noticed something familiar about the girl. 'Ez...Eztli? Oh s**t.' He didn't normally curse, but he was realizing with growing horror that he effectively killing his baby sister with each step he took. He had to find a way to stop Kai. But how? He glanced furtively at the big man next to him. He didn't seem to recognize Eztli. Maybe, if Eztli was smart enough, she could wiggle her way out of this one.

"The me that was before, the me that you met before I was the me that is me now, that me had a great attraction to you. That me that was me loved you. Part of that me exists in me now, however faint." The boy flinched as Kasiya reached out to touch him and pulled his head away. "Hot!" he yelped. "Very hot! Can't touch!" He wrapped his arms around his chest and sunk to the floor. "The me that I am now is the me that I was when I was actually me, and not the me that you met." he looked up at her. "I can't fight myself or bad things happen, like Slateport...and Lilycove..." He squeezed his chest, letting out a grunt of agony as his still tender and recovering body shot out a cry of pain. He took a deep breath, exhaling a faint puff of smoke as he tried to gather himself for what he was about to say.

"I love Flannery, more than anything in the world, that much is without a doubt, but I can't deny that there is something, a place in my heart, for you. I don't know quite what it is, but you...you're special to me. Very special." he nodded, as if she didn't believe him. "I just, don't know how special, or what kind, you are. Is it love? A cultured friendship? Who knows. We-I sure don't." He leaned his head to the side and looked off in the distance. "All I know is that I have to let out my feelings, my thoughts, my emotions, or they will consume me, and I will fall ever deeper into this void I've created for myself." he smiled. "But even if I do. If I were to completely lose myself, beyond salvation, I know that you, you would be there for me." Mike scooted forward slowly, shyly avoiding eye contact with Kasiya as he shifted ever closer. "You always have been, and I hope you always will." Mike slowly lifted his gaze to meet hers. An attempt at a disarming smile was made, but he wasn't very confident in it. "I'm sorry." he said softly as he leaned in and planted a very quick kiss on the girl's lips. "I just had to get that off my chest."

"Corphish, corr!" cried Diemia as she charged without hesitation at Yula. The poor Kirlia barely had any time to react as suddenly a claw was headed for her face, though with light, graceful steps she was able to dodge it. The Kirlia never did understand why Diemia always seemed to have it in for her. Perhaps the ugly crab was jealous of her grace and beauty? She hopped back yet again as Diemia came in swinging, this time having attempted a Brick Break but missing her target did little to deter the battle-hungry crab. Diemia let out a fierce growl as she attacked again, this time certain she would strike. Yula, however, had other ideas, and her body flashed brightly for a split second before she teleported away to safety. It took Diemia a moment to clue in as to what had just happened and she wheeled around in time to see the Kirlia reappear some distance away, giggling and waving. Diemia growled again and raised both her claws, sending dual streams of shimmering bubbles at the psychic-type. Once again Yula jumped out of the way, but not before finally unleashing her first counter attack, a volley of multi-coloured leaves that raced towards the Corphish, each homing in on their target. It was Diemia's turn to deny the attack, and she brought both her claws up high, creating a glimmering green barrier that intercepted the Magical Leaf, Protecting her from harm.

Akima and Plua, meanwhile, had started their own training session, though admittedly the Sneasel was at a huge advantage, thanks to her speed, but Plua wasn't exactly slow moving, either. Riza had told her to work on evading, and though she knew it wouldn't take much to provoke the bad tempered Fearow, she planned to have fun with it. Akima jumped up and pulled down her eyelid with a clawed hand, rolling her eyes at Plua before sticking out her tongue. Then, she spun around and waggled her behind at the Fearow, throwing in a few 'come and get me' smacks just for good measure. Akima had always been a master of Taunt. Plua, though definitely knowing better than to fall for such a trick, found herself unable to quell the rage that was suddenly causing her chest to feel as though it were on fire. With an enraged screech she dive-bombed the Sneasel, rearing back her beak for what would be a nasty Peck attack if it were to hit. Akima, of course, saw this one coming from a mile away and lithely danced out of reach, laughing with every step she took. Like Diemia, Plua wasn't so easily deterred cause of a miss and she kept at it, this time chasing after the Sneasel with a series of Fury Attack.

Sam crept forward once more, the last of her sudden euphoria disappearing. As she felt her throat closing, she reached instinctively for her pocket, thinking her Xanax might be in there. It, of course, wasn't since Sam hadn't restocked since the Gala. Sam wished she hadn't impulsively thrown all the contents of her prescription down the drain. She also wished she had thought to bring her medicine with her when she had left Cianwood. 'Stupid...stupid...Where the hell is he?' Sam thought, suddenly very panicky. Without her Zoloft, her mood swings were magnified, and when she was younger, she had self-diagnosed bipolar disorder, even though she now knew she didn't have it. She exited the clearing, and pushed through some trees, not noticing that Miharu had finally caught up. She came into another larger clearing. In it was a platform, with a large chair on it. A young boy with purple hair was sitting on it. Sam was shocked by how young Bugsy really was. 'They weren't kidding...' she thought to herself. "B-Bugsy! I'm Sam, from..um...Cianwood. I'm here to challenge you." Sam's legs were shaking badly, and she wanted desperately to sit down.

Kasiya nodded as the boy spoke, a little surprised that she was able to follow along and understand everything he was saying to her. The more she thought about it now, though, the more she realized that the 'real' Mike had managed to surface several times, notably when things were at their roughest. He'd been almost a little too reckless when he'd rescued her from Team Rocket in Celadon City that time, and perhaps a little too eager to cause damage when their group had assaulted the base on Five Island, and gone into the Viridian Gym to rescue Nina from the clutches of darkness. She knew then that a part of her had always been aware that there was something going on underneath Mike's crusading, happy-go-lucky, flirtatious surface, just as she'd known for a long time now that his heart belonged to someone else. Admittedly, for a while, she'd wrongly assumed that someone else was Mitsu, as the two had spent a lot of time traveling together in those earlier days as well, though she wasn't surprised to later discover that it was indeed Flannery that held Mike's heart. After all, everything he'd done, he'd done for her, even if he hadn't made the best choices in doing so.

But even still, hearing that he, even if just a part of him, had always been attracted to her, even loved her, filled the girl with conflict. Mai had once told her that her feelings for Mike were visible from space (or something along those lines) and even now she couldn't help but wonder what would have happened had she ever been brave enough to admit to him her feelings, before it had been blurted out in front of the whole world by Team Rocket. Would it have made a difference? Probably not, but it likely would have taken a weight off her shoulders. Then, it occurred to her that by that point, Milo or whatever that alternate personality called itself may have taken over, and it was possible that Mike still didn't know how she felt. Or used to feel. Or still felt. She really didn't know anymore.

She smiled back at him when he smiled at her, as for a moment he looked like the Mike he claimed was fake, and her heart ached so badly that it radiated out to her limbs, and even the palms of her hands hurt. Her tears were flowing freely now, though most of them had dried seconds after being cried. She shook her head, intent on saying something in return, but before she could organize her thoughts into words, Mike leaned in and gently and quickly touched his lips against hers. It didn't last long, for obvious reasons, yet the gesture itself still meant a lot to her. She smiled weakly, still fighting the urge to reach out and cup his cheek with her hand. "You don't need to apologize to me," she said. "You're... very special to me too, you know," she said, knowing that he probably needed to hear that he was cared for, needed, and loved. "You've been there for me too, whenever I needed you, though a lot of the time you probably didn't know it." She paused to draw in a shaky breath before continuing. The heat from the volcano (and Mike, too) was starting to get to her, but she refused to let it show. "I know you love Flannery. I get that, I really do. I get that, because even though it doesn't seem like it's on the same scale, for some reason that I don't even understand most of the time, I love Keegan. I really do." The sheer truth of the statement made her laugh out loud, but it was a happy, light laugh, and she wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand. "But there's always been this part of me that, no matter what, has and always will love you so much it feels like it's killing me inside."

"Uh, alright," was all Jake could manage as Robin had suddenly thrown her arms around him for a great big hug. "Heh, yeah, I'm sure we will have fun," he nodded, tentatively patting the girl on the back. Sure, she was cute and scantily clad but that didn't make hugging her any less awkward. Even still, he listened patiently as she explained the gym to him, though her tone of voice made him feel as though he should already know all this. A part of him did, as it sounded very familiar to him, though he felt a little dumb about not realizing that the gyms were about Pokemon and battling rather than the traditional gyms. He looked down at Turtwig when she mentioned he'd be a big asset and took the initiative by checking out the Rock-type in his PokeDex. "Yeah, it says here Rock-types are weak against Grass-type, Water-type, Ground-type, Steel-type and Fighting-type moves." He looked back at his Pokemon again, thinking about just how useful Turtwig's Razor Leaf and Absorb attacks would be. Rock-type Pokemon were very sturdy though, so he wasn't sure how well Bidoof would do in the gym. Either way, he knew that if he didn't give her a chance to battle in the gym, she'd wait until he was sleeping and gnaw his face off or something like that.

Ugh, was she feeling kinda groggy. You know how you feel when you take Nyquil at 9 PM one night and assume you'll be right as rain by 6 AM, but you're not? That kind of groggy.

Weird, though. It was like someone put some glaze over her eyes. The world from the view of a doughnut, M.A. thought vaguely to herself. Oh, but no, that wasn't right. She blinked hard, once -- her eyelids, like unwieldy, old windshield wipers, got some of the glaze off, but it would take more blinking before she could figure out what that fuzzy mountain in front of her was. Huh, familiar. That rusty brown color, a bit darker than her auburn head. Her windshield wipers seemed to work more fluidly now, after she had got some momentum going and what not; funny, the glaze must've been plugging up sound from entering her brain, too, 'cause she could vaguely hear her name now. ".... -may! Emmay! Can you hear me?" What, who was Emmay? Oh. M.A. Her name.

"Yeah, yeah," she said groggily, swatting at that annoying familiar voice. Let me go back to sleep, she thought inwardly. It was too early, Saebum, jeez, she wasn't a morning person like he was -- wait, Saebum? "Saebum!" M.A. gasped, suddenly seeing clearly. There was her brother, after all, in all his six foot two glory. "Whut-- wutter are you doing here?" she asked, sitting up suddenly.

"Woah woah woah," Nurse Joy said, catching her as M.A. swayed, little explosions going off in her brain. Dizzzzy. Where Nurse Joy firmly held her hurt, too, as if she was sore everywhere. "Easy there. We gave you a transfusion, but recovery's gonna take a while."

"Recovery?" M.A. asked blankly, looking not at Nurse Joy but at Saebum, whose eyes -- a brilliant blue, unlike her steel blue ones -- silently perused her, worry as tangible as the sheets that covered her.

Memory and sickness, like twin plagues, struck her all at once. She instantly remembered the inferno that that quiet manor had become, the devilish grin that twisted Milton's face as he reached out his thin, skeletal fingers towards her -- she shuddered violently, pushing away from Nurse Joy's grasp and sitting forward regardless of her nausea to hug her knees. Ah, somewhere safe, a little bit of a dark cocoon. But that position held quite a bit of pain, for some reason -- M.A. released herself dazedly to look at her arms. It was disgusting. Where one bruise ended and a burn began almost was impossible to differentiate.

M.A. couldn't process all the emotions that were flooding in, from fear to disgust to sickness to relief. Primarily, there was an overwhelming sense of helplessness -- here she was, stuck on a hospital bed, totally exposed to the stares of Nurse Joy, the Chanseys, and her brother. Of course Saebum's look was more of one of concern and worry, but that didn't make it any better. She felt like she was suffocating. Out of default, unable to figure out what else to do or say, she smiled.

Saebum seemed relieved by this, as he always was when his sister smiled after falling out of trees and such. Smiling = okay, right? So goes this simple mind. "I'm so glad you're okay, M.A. When I heard what happened two nights ago, I rushed over to Jubilife right away. I mean, the Nurse said you'd be alright with a little sleep, but y'know," he chuckled a bit, sheepishly, "I always worry too much." As he spoke, Saebum settled himself next to her on the bed and very lightly, very lightly huggedher. He was almost exceedingly gentle, but his overtly careful manner made M.A. smile a bit more naturally. She really adored her brother. That was one thing that hadn't changed. She was still M.A. That didn't change, either. These two things were reassuring in the face of the general unease she felt within that room. Oh, and one more thing...

"Where's my Pokemon?" she suddenly asked, extricating herself from her brother's grasp less than gracefully -- it was difficult to move plugged in everywhere. A bit derisively, M.A. pulled off her IV drip and all the other things connected to her. When Nurse Joy protested, M.A. shirked away from her touch and asked again where her Pokemon were. They were in the tray on the counter, and were perfectly alright, the pink-haired woman said, and M.A. breathed a sigh of relief. What she would've done if they had been irreparably hurt!

"Are you sure you're okay?" Saebum asked, noting the odd expression on M.A.'s face. Nurse Joy, counting on her woman's intuition, felt that M.A. wanted to be alone with her brother, and so left.

What was she supposed to say? "Yeah," she answered. "I... I just don't understand... Why," she finished there, unsure of how to express herself. Why were good people bad? Or if Milton had been a bad person, why had he been so kind, why had his masterpieces been so touching, so awe-inspiring? How could he pretend to be one thing, and be a monster? She still saw his sadly smiling face as he displayed his greatest work, the work that spoke of tragedy yet was terrifically beautiful. There had been kindness in that face. But that same face had twisted in malice just hours later. Which was the lie? "Why are people like that? The Slateport Party, this... Why do people do such ugly things?"

"There are some wicked people out there. But M.A, for now, just look on the bright side. No casualties. You and your Pokemon and Rebecca -- that girl's alright, too."

"Milton died."

"Well you know what? He deserved it, for what he did to you and that girl," Saebum said, malice suddenly overtaking his voice. M.A. let Saebum hug her again, but didn't reciprocate. That murderous intent in his voice made her shiver uncomfortably. It didn't sound different from Milton's bitterness, when he was convinced she had stolen Diego from him. Wasn't that the same wickedness? Of course she still loved her brother, and she knew he unconditionally loved her, but still... She was coming to detect a base ugliness, a fundamental, dirty sort of dishonesty that seemed inherent to humans. It was in her, too. She was just as dirty as the rest of them.

Her heart pounded in her chest. Her blood boiled, her head throbbed, and her lips were frozen into such a razor-thin line that she could not breathe.

Amy thought she was petrified. She never expected this from herself; she had thought that she'd only be a little hesitant. Tears began to collect in her eyes, but she furiously blinked them away, and breath came to her in a shocked gasp. Snap out of it! We need to be strong!

Amy watched the Ember attack end, smoke leaving only a silhouette of her happy little Wooper. She didn't tell him to dodge! Amy chastised herself again and again in her mind, and her frame trembled lightly. All of this, of course, was lost upon the man, or he was just cruel enough to notice and ignore it.

"W-woopah!"

The trainer felt herself wrenched from her thoughts and fears when she heard the defiant cry of the Water Fish Pokemon. The smoke revealed, fully showing a seemingly unscathed Marshall. He glanced back, directly to Amy, and offered her his widest grin.

"Right!" Amy cried, hands balling into fists at her sides. "I'm sorry, Marshall. I won't let you down again!" Her resolve was made, but Amy felt that she didn't have some... fire? There was definitely something missing.

"Smog!" the large man bellowed dramatically, ignoring the fact that he was battling a much younger girl in the middle of the street. His Houndour spewed a violet gas that rushed for Marshall, but Amy wouldn't let him get hurt this time.

"Jump!" Amy replied swiftly, hand sweeping upwards. "And then use Mud Shot from above!" Marshall grinned again as he leapt far above the attack. He flipped once and released a series of mud clumps directly at the Houndour.

Houndour was not pleased with being pelted with such attacks, letting out a fearsome growl.

"I-I'm sorry," Amy mumbled from the sidelines, feeling guilty and disgusted with herself. There was that little voice in her head, the one that said "You're taking this far too seriously, these battles are for fun! Just like Contest battles!" However, that voice was drowned out by the large man yelling.

"Ember again! Burn it!" Houndour released another flurry of flames right up at Marshall, who found himself unable to dodge while in mid-air. He let out another cry and fell, and Amy felt herself freeze up again. "Again!"

Amy was not doing so well, watching another Ember hit Marshall. She wanted to be angry, she wanted to be confident, but all she could be was scared. She felt as if ice-water had been injected into her veins when Marshall let out a little cough of smoke and shuddered, having been gifted with a Burn status.

"Water Gun," Amy whispered, then repeated it with a trembling voice. Marshall glanced back once and, assuming Amy didn't want the Dark Pokemon hurt too badly, let out a somewhat weak Water Gun, which was promptly dodged.

"Finish it!" Houndour did as he was told and leapt into the air, casting an Ember upon the worried Wooper.

Marshall let out one last "Woopah...?" and collapsed, done for the battle.

Riza had decided it best to work with Eris and Faustus, as they were the two youngest Pokemon on the team. She lead the Quilava and Dratini away from the other for Pokemon, though Eris and Faustus both kept looking over their shoulders at their teammates. Eris was mostly impressed by Akima's speed and agility, while Faustus marveled at how strong his teammates were. He had received plenty of training from Clair herself, but he knew he was no match for the older, more experienced dragons in her care. Riza was still checking the Dratini's moves on her Pokedex and she snapped it shut and tucked it into her pocket as she turned to face her Pokemon. "Okay you two, it's time to show me what you can do!" The two Pokemon exchanged glances, then looked up at Riza expectantly. "Eris, you're up first. I want you to try and use your Ember and Extrasensory attacks together. Use Ember first and try to take control of it with your psychic ability." Eris tilted her head, but nodded. She understood her orders well enough, it sounded easy! What she didn't get was why? What was the point of that? Even still, the Quilava hopped forward, fiery quills erupting from her head and lower back as she sent out a small burst of flames from her mouth. She then reached out with her Extrasensory, her body and the flames all glowing with a deep violet aura for a split second before the flames vanished, having not had enough power behind them to stay long enough for Eris to grab them with her psychic power. The Quilava frowned, and glared at the spot where her flames had winked out. How dare they defy her will and be so weak and faint! The Volcano Pokemon puffed out her chest and growled angrily, it would not happen again! Faustus merely watched the fire-type with unblinking eyes, unable to understand why Eris was so upset with herself. It had taken him many tries to finally use a successful Dragon rage, for as strict as Clair was, she was also fairly patient.

Diemia and Yula, meanwhile, were off in their own little world, unaware of the enrage-and-evade game Akima and Plua were playing, and of Eris' annoyance at her own failures and Faustus' confused cooing. When the Corphish had blocked the Kirlia's Magical Leaf by means of a Protect, it was the Emotion Pokemon's turn to be angry, or as angry as she was capable of. She was actually more annoyed than anything else, as she could never understand what Diemia's problem was. This time the Kirlia jumped up, raising her arms high above her head as she summoned her newly learned attack. Her ghostly Shadow Ball was hurled with great speed at the Corphish, who looked as though she were going to try another Protect. As most people and Pokemon with access to Protect know, it often fails if the user tries to use it in succession, and for poor Diemia, Murphy's Law was about to kick her in the face. The green barrier shimmered for all of a single moment before fading away into nothingness, leaving the stunned Corphish wide open to the Shadow Ball. She grunted in pain, digging her claws and legs into the ground to keep from being shoved back, and she left quite a rut in the earth as a result. Even she had to admit that Yula's attacks had some power behind them now, but it seemed as though the Kirlia wasn't done fighting back for the very next instant, she'd released a shower of golden shooting stars that all hurtled towards their target with deadly accuracy.

Amy felt every emotion wash away from her being, leaving only blankness. She briefly concluded that this was shock.

Oh God, oh God, I let him down... Oh God, oh God, I let him down... Amy thought, pushing up her glasses. She felt like an awful person, letting her Pokemon faint, and Marshall would probably never trust her again...

The girl let out a small whimper and recalled her fainted Wooper. "G-go, Flora!" Amy called hesitantly, tossing the Pokeball into the air as unceremoniously as her opponent had done. The Chikorita emerged, looked at Amy once, and understood.

"Chiko," Flora said, turning towards the Houndour. She nodded once, as if to say 'Let me handle this.' and leapt into the air. "Chikorii!" Flora was no longer hesitant about battling. She had to protect Amy! So, without any time to show off, she released a Poison Powder upon the Dark Pokemon, who growled and tried to shake it off.

"Thank you..." Amy whispered, and she felt ashamed of herself. Unable to command her own Pokemon to battle? She didn't deserve to be a trainer, let alone a coordinator! The girl grit her teeth and shook her head a few times.

Flora and Houndour had taken the battle into their own hands, and now the Leaf Pokemon showed off her grace and speed in a much more practical way. She danced away from the Embers and flipped above the Smogs, before she finally descended with a mighty Tackle, slamming into the Dark/Fire-type's skull.

Amy watched, amazed with her Pokemon. Flora now turned back gracefully, striking a pose as her opponent let out one last yowl and fainted.

The man chose to say nothing, trying not to make things awkward, so he merely brought out his next Pokemon. This one seemed to be a little clam, who popped open and stuck his tongue out and let out the most adorable "Shellder!" After a brief introduction of the Shellder via Dex, Amy nodded. Flora stepped forward.

"Wait." Flora paused, turning to her trainer. "I'll help you." Amy nodded once and stepped up. "Let's finish this battle, Flora!"

Themis lifted his head from the pillow to look at Kilik, grinning broadly at the boy's comment. Of course he was tough, was he stupid or something? The Manectric yawned and lied back down again. It wasn't like he'd been overly busy or anything lately, but sleeping seemed like a good thing to do right now. Keegan watched the electric type for a moment, a little envious of Themis' ability to sleep like the dead. "He is tough," he said in reply to Kilik's comment. "Headstrong, though. Never looks before he leaps. Thanks," he added, catching the soda can and looking at it. He'd never really been a huge fan of orange but he decided to play nice, seeing as he was gonna be seeing a lot of Kilik over the next while, and he didn't really feel like starting anything over a can of soda.

"Nervous?" he chuckled, turning the can upside down and tapping the bottom solidly a few times. "Nah, not really." He turned it right-side up and opened it, downing two-thirds of it in one swig which was followed up by a healthy belch. "What about you, are you nervous?" he asked, setting the can down on the small table next to the bed. His answer hadn't been entirely honest, as he wasn't at all nervous for himself, Mike or Kilik - he was fully aware of each of their abilities as a trainer and otherwise. It was the girls he worried for, Kasiya especially. Since Slateport she'd seemed especially fragile, though he knew he was partially to blame for that. He sighed and closed his eyes, wishing with all his might he hadn't said all those awful things to her. Now, she was off somewhere with Mike who was highly unstable, at that, and he couldn't help but worry even more. "What have we signed ourselves up for?" he asked, though it was more a rhetorical question than anything else.

It was almost way too easy for Akima to dodge all of Plua's attacks, as her anger made the Fearow reckless and predictable. Factor in that the wily Sneasel had used an Agility in between the Fearow's attacks and that made for one nearly-impossible to hit Pokemon. Akima had never been the largest of Sneasel, one due to her being female and two, her being more or less the 'runt' of her family. She had several older brothers and sisters, all of which were a little bigger than she was (the boys especially) and that made her an easy target to pick on. It was learn fast or get beaten up all the time for her, which was another reason why she'd been happy to go along with the tall, black and white human that the nice lady that took care of them all had found in the Ice Path. Akima did a neat little tuck and roll to escape the next Peck attack Plua threw her way, laughing and continuing to taunt the Fearow like it was a game. Plua definitely wasn't laughing, however, as she recalled the single move in her arsenal that would allow her to actually dish out some hurt to the annoying, arrogant little Sneasel. Plua let out a loud squawk and dove at her opponent once more, a white glow encompassing her as though she were using Quick Attack. Akima thought nothing of it and tried to hop up and out of the way, but the Fearow's movements were far too swift this time and she lashed out swiftly, catching Akima in the side with a very nicely executed Aerial Ace.

Diemia knew from experience that there was no way to avoid those golden Swift stars, so she did the only thing she could think of on the fly, and that was to raise her claws, bring them together and unleash a steady stream of sparkly blue bubbles to meet the oncoming stars. Riza happened to glance over at this point, and she marveled at how beautiful Diemia's Bubblebeam was. The collision of the bubbles and stars created a rain of gold and blue sparkles that rained down over top of her, making her stand out like a queen of the ocean. 'Wow, go Diemia,' Riza thought, turning her attention back to Eris and Faustus. Diemia didn't seem to care one way or the other how pretty the attacks made her look, and she ran across the battlefield, having never been a big fan of long range attacks. She liked the feel of getting her claws into her opponents, and that was exactly what she intended to do. Growling, she raised both her claws, each of which had started to glow with a dark aura, her Knock Off attack. She somehow knew if she could get it to hit, it would be very damaging to the psychic-type. Yula braced herself for the oncoming attack, waiting for just the right moment before she teleported away. Instead of reappearing instantly somewhere safe, she initiated her Double Team, and instead of one, there were now five Kirlia on the battlefield. Diemia growled angrily, not caring now that she had more than one target and went after the first Kirlia she saw, swinging at it with all her might. Yula let out a cry of pain as luckily for Diemia, she'd chosen correctly.

Leon located the gym easily enough, but it would have been much faster if he'd simply sucked it up and asked someone for directions. He entered the building and began to walk farther into the gym to look for Roxanne, only to be stopped by a man by the door and informed that Roxanne was already in a battle.

"Oh," Leon said. "Any idea how much longer it's gonna be?" He really didn't feel like waiting a whole long time, but he'd leave and find something else to do if he really had to.

The man shook his head, and as Leon let out a sigh he piped up with, "There are a couple of younger trainers here under the instruction of Roxanne, though, and you may challenge them if you'd like while you wait for her current battle to finish up."

"Alright,"
Leon replied, walking past the man and farther into the gym, looking around for the other trainers he'd mentioned. That had probably been kind of rude, just walking away without even thanking the man or anything, but Leon wasn't really known for his manners.

Amy nudged her glasses further up the bridge of her nose and gazed calmly at the Shellder before them. A Water/Ice-type, that would be no problem! The girl allowed herself some more confidence.

"Go! Razor Leaf!" Amy called, and Flora complied, releasing a flurry of leaves directly at the happy little clam.

"Shellder!" said the Shellder as he jumped and smiled. Amy frowned slightly, wondering how such a thing could jump.

"Icicle Spear!" the man replied, and Flora received a rain of the little spears, crying out. Amy felt her mind blank out, but she shook her head.

"Focus on the offensive," Amy said, though she wasn't sure who she was talking to. "Razor Leaf!"

Flora gave her trainer a wary glance before obliging, attacking the Shellder once more. However, the man ordered the same attack as well, and now ice hacked through the leaves before they dug into Flora.

"Chiko!" Flora winced, shaking her head some.

Amy felt her heart thundering in her chest, and all she could think was Attack, attack, attack! Otherwise, she worried that she would freeze up again. So she ordered yet another Razor Leaf, and ignored her Chikorita's concerned stare.

Flora focused all her energy into her Razor Leaf, some of them actually hitting the Shellder, but she got hit once more. It seems their enemy had decided to copy their strategy.

"Shellder!" Shellder cried, firing one last Icicle Spear. Flora felt herself getting dizzy, and then it hit her. Super-effective.

"C-chi..." Flora managed, before fainting. Amy stared.

"W-what...?" she asked, lifting a hand to cover her mouth. Tears threatened to spill over. "What did I..." Then it hit her: she completely forgot about Grass' weakness to Ice-type moves. She had been so focused on the offensive that defense was a foreign concept. She was so stupid! "I-I'm so sorry." Amy recalled Flora, mumbled something to the rather embarassed man, and ran off.
