i think people dislike her becuse she is like the annoying kid sister who steals your toys and breaks them. Whilst not providing any positive traits for the group ie improved strenght, white magic.

StrawberrieIceCream Sen_Strife most people hate her because she stole their materia during the game, also she's not that strong either Actually, this really depends on whether you use her or not. Her limit break, Doom of the Living, is technically the ninja's answer to Omnislash. It's extremely powerful, and can do just as much damage as Omnislash can if you give her the right equipment and have her at a decent level. She's pretty good with materia, and as a long range fighter, can stay in the back row and deal the same amount of damage as she would in the front row while taking in only a minimal portion of the damage. I noticed the whole "everyone hates Yuffie because she stole my materia" thing too, though. In my high school, one of my friends said that they hated Yuffie because she was a "thieving b*tch," but when I started explaining why that wasn't a good enough reason to hate her (because it shows imcompetence on the part of the gamer for not being able to fight WITHOUT materia), he was unable to provide any further reasons for hating her, aside from the all to common "she's annoying" reason. The way her dialogue was made in the North American version reeks of stereotypes, like how they translated Barret's dialogue. I've verified with people who've actually played the original Japanese version that she's much more tolerable and nicer in the Japanese version than the American version. It's just one of those things that are lost in translation. Sadly, it makes people hate her so... cry omg someone knows what they are talking about!!!! yay!!! *hugs strawberrie*

I didn't like her all that well because she was just a pain in the butt.
1. She doesn't have a major part in the story. I mean, when she steals your materia, it does jar on the nerves. I took me weeks to even THINK of ringing that bell to open the door. I would've let Don keep her if he just handed over the materia. sweatdrop
2. She likes Cloud. 'Nuff said. stressed
3. She is probobly the least talented in fighting in the group. ninja

If you are talking character wise im not sure anyone really hates her but if you're talking user wise me personally i dont hate her i think she is actually a great help though she does steal all your materia. you get it back after you save her. but hell i guess if you just dont like her then dont go to the forest and fight her

Xia Silverune I didn't like her all that well because she was just a pain in the butt. 1. She doesn't have a major part in the story. I mean, when she steals your materia, it does jar on the nerves. I took me weeks to even THINK of ringing that bell to open the door. I would've let Don keep her if he just handed over the materia. sweatdrop 2. She likes Cloud. 'Nuff said. stressed 3. She is probobly the least talented in fighting in the group. ninja Actually, I would like to counter it a bit, since there are some things that you miss.
As for your first item on the list, of course she doesn't have a major part in the story! She's an optional character, so if she's going to be optional, then her story shouldn't be so big that it'd drastically effect the game if you didn't get her, right? Vincent suffers the same problem too, despite having his story relate to the antagonist. Yuffie's story was technically supposed to add more depth to the world of Final Fantasy VII, and nothing really more (aside from explain some things about the girl herself). As for her stealing materia, I too found it bothersome at first, since she had me running around Wutai like a headless chicken. But there are worse, far more annoying things in the game that could frustrate me more than this. That, and even though she gives it back to you in the wrong order, it doesn't take that long to rearrange it again.
Interestingly enough, she'll steal only FIFTY of your materia, starting with summons first with the highest accumulated AP/Star level, and downwards.
For item number two, she doesn't always like Cloud. It depends on how you treat her throughout the game. I mean, she cares for some of them (especially near the end of the game, she comes to care for all of Avalanche quite dearly), but she doesn't really like Cloud in that way unless you're really nice to her. Actually, in Dirge of Cerberus, it looks more like she has a crush on VINCENT, although where the hell that came from I do not know. Maybe Square-Enix has been reading too much Yuffintine these past nine years? xd
As for the last one, this is quite untrue, depending on how you utilize and level her while she is in your party. At first, she might not seem that special, but if you were to level her up high enough and get enough of her limit breaks, she'd be just as useful as any other character, almost up to Cloud's level of a** whoopin'. Her 'Doom of the Living' limit break is especially useful, although not as powerful as Omnislash. She's pretty good with materia, but not on the same level as Aerith might have been, per se. It all really depends on how you use her. I never really used Red XIII on my first file, so I found him useless until my second paly through of the game, where I actually bothered to level him up. By that point, I had wanted to rename him "The Destroyer of Worlds," but not only was that title best suited for Jenova and Sephiroth, but it was too long, and the time to name a character long since past.

I love Yuffie so much. Of all characters (from every addiction of mine) I wish to dress like, there are only two: Yuffie and Sasuke!
I'm a girl, it's allowed.
