Kenth sighed. Another sense of defeat. The advisor always seemed to be able to pull out the smartest thing to do with the most justifiable reason based on logic. Kenth had a weakness in logical reasoning...well, not exactly weakness, but rather, he'd be more easily convienced with logic than sentimentality. He suspected the the man saw through that, and now Kenth was helplessly exposed in front of the advisor.

Shaking his head, Kenth brushed the rather annoying thought off of his mind. "Well." He coughed, trying to get himself back on track. "I suppose...but the whole reason why this riot started is yet unknown, so we must take extra pre-caution. I'd suggest that the investigation to be separated in small groups, with each teacher leading a few students...if they must, for protection. I know of a few routes in the forest to take. This way, if we are separated, it is less noticable. We can meet at the end of the forest, near the previously visited village. If no one disturbs this small trip then we can make the assumption that the natives are not near the village I have visited, and then we can go from there."

Greg raised an eyebrow as Alex mumbled something that he couldn’t hear. He ‘hmm?’ed but didn’t otherwise press. He was surprised at the way that she reacted to what he said, but he wasn’t going to press it, not if she wasn’t going to press which military he was in.

“Well it’s probably just like that because he’s worried about what’s going on. But at least you’ve got some people related to him who like you, hmm?” He said, smiling and giving her shoulder a little nudge.

Kenth may have been hard of hearing, but at least he could relate to rational. Herei was secretly relieved, not wanting to throw his weight around just to put the doctor in a place he could understand. He cupped his chin between his forefinger and thumb, considering the doctor's proposal. It would cover the most amount of ground in the shortest amount of time, keeping the students relatively safe while making sure that there were some people around who would pick up the details. Not that he doubted the student's abilities, no, not at all; quite the opposite, he thought their young minds would see that which the rest of the staff might miss or overlook. It was a sound plan.

"Well said," Herei said with a nod and a smile. "I'll leave the division of the groups in your capable hands. You know the teachers and their capabilities, as well as our new helpers." His gaze flickered to Greg and Alex before returning to Kenth's icy stare. "The teachers can have some say in which students go where, as - if I'm not mistaken - you may not be familiar with them and their abilities. I want everyone to gather in a predesignated spot by the time the sun reaches the mountain tops; if anyone is missing, we'll still have light to think of what to do." The Advisor nodded once, sealing the deal.

RuiZhi grinned sheepishly at Audun, pleased by the gesture. It was one his brother and sister used with him, and usually depicted fondness, at least in his mind. The boy happily gave a good natured nod. "If we have time, I would like to hear more about your natives languages. I will do my best to translate and answer any questions you have." He was joyful that his new friends were so kind and eager; it would make the time here more bearable, and perhaps the mystery could be solved more quickly with such sharp minds.

"I doubt I would have ever learned English if it weren't for that awful disease. Even then, it was too late, but I'm trying to learn now to stop something like this from making me ignorant again." His smile softened, his eyes a bit sad; if he had known English sooner, he could have been of some help. At least, at that time, Weiyuan had been around.

Alex blinked a few times before looking back at Greg. He really hadn't changed; it was no wonder her memory had edged along so much at the sight of him. She smiled a little at his comment, wishing he knew just how close to home it was. The woman shifted her weight, nudging him back with a slowly growing grin. "You're right. As long as we get along, he doesn't stand a chance, does he?" She ducked her head momentarily, brushing some stray hair from her eyes, still smiling. "He's lucky to have you, whether or not he acknowledges it."

Kenth nodded. " Well said advisor. I shall do so."

Adjusting himself and his voice, Kenth cleared his throat intentionally and turned to the group.

"Will the teachers of Shinkami come forth?"

Sable sighed. Hanging around Wei and Rylenn was getting him no where at all. He liked RhuZhi better, the other boys didn't seem like they cared at all someone else was near them. Which was all fine and dandy, expect for the fact he'd been trying to talk to them. He did not like it when people ignored him. It spawned from being a shrimp, you see, children made a point to ignore the short kid. Children are cruel, cruel things. It was like a game. Who could make small little Sable cry first? Little kids get ripped apart when they cry, and Sable quickly learned to strike back.

It was nothing personal. Wei and Rylenn probably didn't mean to? He didn't know. And he didn't really care to know, he'd give them benefit of the doubt. And with that decision, Sable went off in search of his friend.

He found RhuZhi with Audun -shudder- and someone else he didn't know. Huh. The black-haired man slunk over quietly, standing a stride or so off from the group. ...this was awkward. How was he supposed to do this. "...er...hey, RhuZhi...Audun...guy I don't know?"

...that, that right there? That was smooth.

“Thank you.” Greg said, truly meaning it. “He’s lucky to have you.” He looked over as his brother called for all the teachers, then back to Alex. “And there is no doubt that between the two of us there is no escape. If he tries I’ll be sure to tie him up.” He smirked, then looked back to his brother.

“Yes, Kenth?” He asked coming forwards. He didn’t ask if there was something that he could do to help him. Kenth might well think that that was insulting. He might react badly, just like he had when they were younger… “You wanted the teachers?”

Irame had been with Lina and looking over the rest of the people gathered when Kenth called out. She hadn’t expected it, and started. She came from where she had been, more near the back of the area, and went nearer to Kenth, holding her hand up ever so slightly.

“Is there something that I can do, heru Kenth?” She asked.

Alex smiled at Greg, a gentle expression that softened her features considerably. "Now if only he'd realize how lucky he was, hmm?" She glanced over as Kenth's clear voice carried through the small bunker, shifting to stand as Greg stood as well. She nodded to him as he walked over, opting to lean against the door with her arms crossed, most of the warmth draining from her face to be replaced with her stoic mask. The woman watched in silence, mostly making sure something didn't spontaneously combust or implode between the brothers.

RuiZhi spun around, delight upon his face. "Sable! This is Farlest, he also goes to Shinkami. Although..." He turned back to the black-haired youth, smiling apologetically. "I don't know your major. Sable and I were talking about it earlier, and--oh, well, this is Sable." He grinned, feeling a little overwhelmed by all the people; it was a good thing, though, as he felt most useful when busy with others. He liked to learn about people and help others do the same, which may have been the first link that sent him down the path of being a doctor.

Farlest, in typical style, both grinned and waved at the newcomer, "Hullo! As he said" a gesture at RuiZhi, "I'm Farlest, Farlest Kanataki, and I'm a magic major, actually...though I haven't decided what I'm going to specialize in later on, it's a bit early for that, I think." In truth he was leaning towards a in-depth study of the elves and all that came with that...or perhaps something darker and more complex...premature would be a decision at this point, however.

Now, Farlest wasn't short, but neither was he overly tall...Sable, he noticed, was quite small indeed, even in comparison to the other short people of his own age. So how old was this Sable person? Not that he was going to ask for fear of being rude (he had bouts of this problem now and again).

"At any rate...pleasure to meet you, Sable...what bring you out here?" Well...he knew the answer, but the implied question was that he wanted to know why.

Just as he was about to reply to RuiZhi's greeting another man came along and soon another student. He greeted them all as they had introduced themselves and he gave his name as well, "Elijah Delaiah, pleased to meet you," before they moved onto a new and interesting topic of bilingual abilities which fascinated the youth. Of course he was not capable of speaking any language other then English so the idea of being able to speak multiple languages triggered his interest. He couldn't add anything into the conversation other then, "That's awesome. I would love to learn another language."

Soon another man approached and the blue eyed teen looked toward Sable inwardly surprised at how many people seemed to know each other already and how many didn't. 'I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't know many people. Then again, it seems everyone knows someone already,' he thought and grinned, happy to be able to meet so many interesting people and all so quickly. His eyes darted between the four people standing around him.

Whoa! He hadn't even seen that third fellow! Feeling a little silly, he nodded to them both. "Farlest, Elijah. It's a pleasure." He felt continuely sheepish, were these all students? Oh wow. A school of geniuses? Was that it? Was geniuses a word? Oh god. They had him doubting his every thought! He was going to be a mess by the time they got back to the lab! Juno would have his head! Oh god. Juno. How did he manage to think about that man even when he was half-a-world away? Right. No. He was spacing out. "I'm Sable Hazard...and I'm a lab tech?"

Is that what he was supposed to say? He was far too old to be a student. Huh. Maybe he would have enjoyed school more if he was at a school like this. These boys seemed much...kinder than his schoolmate. He idly wondered if they'd ever tried shoving someone in a locker. Sable got the impression he might still fit. Ug. Shudder. That was not an experience he was willing to repeat in this lifetime.

"...er...I'm out here because Juno hates me?" He shrugged. "I'm actually here for the strange happening. I still don't exactly have a degree, and...well, I do have to pick a science eventually, you know?" He pushed his glasses up. "What about you? You're not going to be a doctor like the rest of the smart kids, so why are you here?"

Surrounded by people as he was, Farlest had the sudden and strange urge to want to just...attach to one of them. He liked to be constantly touching, but...at the moment...these people were all strangers, beyond the exchanging of names, albeit for the fact that they were all here for the same reason, even if the purpose differed.

"Ah well..." He tilted his head to one side, watching Sable for a moment, "No, I don't intend to be a doctor, but..." His voice dipped lower for a while, tones soft, "...I do want to help. There is an obvious need here, and though we don't know what the problem is exactly...I just...want to help these people. If I didn't I wouldn't be here at all."

His smile was somewhat sheepish. "I don't want to play hero, I just...honestly think that if someone can help, then they should."
PostPosted: Thu May 31, 2007 7:59 pm

It suddenly occurred to Sable then three of the four people he was standing with were students. Genius students. Oh god. Why was he here? Why? He really should have stayed home, oh yes. Oh god. ********. There were all here for rightous reasons, helping people, studying for which to help people...and why was lowly little Sable here? Because Juno was frying his nerves and he really just needed to figure out what he going to go major in. What science, that was. Biology? Chemisty? He could never major in engineering like Mercury.

...oh, god. These thirteen, fourteen, fifteen-year-old kids could probably get the degree he struggled for without even trying. Holy...s**t. He blinked, suddenly realizing he was still with these people. He must seem like a total space cadet! Oh, what do they care? They were already better at life.

"So...you're all here to help people? How...noble," he muttered, not sure what else to say. Sable really was quite articulate. "...did your whole school come?"

Weiyuan Leung

Weiyuan stayed back watching the younger group get together and speak. RuiZhi could make friends with anyone, he, on the other hand, usually met people through someone else. Usually RuiZhi. Or through the numerous love letters that would find their way upon his desk back in his old school.

He sighed, glancing at Rylenn. Time is the only thing that could cure the awkwardness between the three. His eyes scanned the room before landing upon Dr. Kenth, watching the adults ask for the teachers. He could understand Kenth's dislike for having students here, but this is just what would happen.

Frustration was starting to appear within him. He didn't like waiting around so much. Of course, it wasn't like it had been long since they've been here but...his feet and mind were itching to move. To get on the trail of these killings. He turned away to examine the papers laid upon the desks. Each and every one. He needed to keep his mind busy.
