Hm, how can I not have posted this before? Unless I missed it...
One of the saddest scenes for me was near the end of IX, where Zidane was feeling all emo, and You're Not Alone was playing... I just sat there and cried for a little while. It really was the music that made that part especially sad.

Aeris(Aerith)'s death and Vivi's encounters with the Puppet Black Mages were The most saddening, I would have to say. ( Did anyone else find it odd the way Sephiroth killed Aeris? I mean, he came from a vertical angle, then all of a sudden he was stabbing Aeris as if he came up behind her and stabbed her back.. )

Ok. I have NOT looked at the other posts because I have no time, but I actually thought the scene in Final Fantasy IX where Vivi finds out that all the Black Mages where dieing was the saddest. Then again he reminded me of a kid and I think that is why I chose that one.

The famous, Aerith's death scene. . . But also, I always cried when Freya found out she was forgotten in IX. In VI, when Celes jumps off of the cliff--- I don't know why I found that sad, I just did.

I found the whole thing with Terra after Kefka's whole rearranging the world was sad.
Locke and Rachel after the Phoenix esper.
Cyan when he found his family on the Phantom Train.
Gau and his father.
ok, that was from FF6
Personally after the first time I didn't find the Aeris death sad and even then it was more surprising for me. Most of the recent FF's haven't had moments that'll tug on the ol heart strings. I am forced to admit a lot of the dealings with Vivi were saddening, poor guy.

yea Aerith's death was really upsetting. I wanted to yell to cloud to use a phoenix down. Same with Red XIII's dad i wanted cloud to use a soft on him.

When I was a little younger (oh hell, pretty recently) I've cried to the end of various FFs. VII always leaves me feeling severe nostalgia and for some reason IX gets me choked up as well (probably the romance...I'm a bit of a diehard romantic). I used to cry at the end of Kingdom Hearts as well, on a side note.
