"I don't suppose you know how to drive..."

In all honesty he shouldn't have been this exhausted... the fight hadn't even gone on for that long, but using his flame.. had somehow sapped him of all the stamina he had. His right arm had felt odd as well... like he was not adapting well enough or using the "power" correctly.

So much blood had been used in just summoning all that flame that he was ready to collapse.

The hell.. is going on with me?

"Not a chance," Owle said, shaking her head.

"And even if I could, I'd be too afraid you'd fall off halfway. Your friend who owns Feimurgan's...she's psionic? If she is, I just got contacted by her...she's gonna send someone for the bike, and meet us halfway to her cafe. The little bird..."

Owle's free hand gestured to the magpie.

"She sent it."

She looked over at him. Vahn didn't look like he was doing so good, his steps slowing, barely seeming to get them anywhere. At this rate...he'd collapse on her before she got him to the gate.

Owle sighed. She didn't want to do this. She really really didn't want to do this. Sure, it would make her strong enough to carry Vahn, but then they'd both have virtually no stamina and if anything threatened them they'd be dead. Or Vahn would be, Owle might manage to survive if she curled up into a little ball of scales. Somehow, the thought wasn't comforting.

She delayed a few moments longer, then reluctantly began the shift. Again Vahn would feel and see her gradually growing around him. Slow enough that he might not have noticed the change as it happened, but impossible to deny that she was now nearly two feet taller than he was.

"Come on, it's faster if I carry you."

And, just like he had done to her, she scooped him up and carried him off, picking up her pace as fast as her now aching legs would allow. Every muscle in her body seemed burned out, and the whole of her just wanted to collapse on the grass and lay down...but she could keep going. She had to. There was still strength enough in her to walk.

"Hurry up!" she sent to the psionic, desperation overriding her mistrust. "I have no idea how much farther I can carry him like this, and I'm sure walking isn't going to be good for him right now."

A bike rolled through the plains from the Stadium, on the way towards Latent. It happened to be a black Kawasaki Ninja ZX 6R, burning down the pathway in all haste. The trip to the Leviathan had been a royal bore, and he was in quite a hurry to go see whatever else there was to be seen.

Gods, I'm irritated. No one was in today...

His swords had been to no avail, really. But he carried them around anyways, just in case something stupid happened. Even now, they were hanging from his right hip while he was on the bike, the bracers and greaves underneath his black clothing shining merrily as the sunlight hit them where available.

And as the man blazed forward on his motorbike, the ground before him would split open into a nice big pit, a well laid trap on the main road. It would drop twenty feet deep, and was in a rough circular shape of about a thirty feet diameter.

s**t!

And thus, he fell... into what? A pit, and nothing more? If that were the case, he could just get out. The bike went roaring down the hole, and while it did so... Evan bailed. He hopped off of the bike in the middle of its descent and drew his short sword, digging the stainless steel into the earthen wall of the pit.

Okay... that was new, he mused to himself as the motorcycle went crashing down to the ground below. With that, he began to haul himself up, drawing his katana and planting it into the wall as well. Using both of them, one after the other, he began to climb his way out- or at least attempt to do so.

"Eh? What do we have here?" a voice echoed out from the top of the pit. Possibly caused by the sound of the pit collapsing, as a spider hides until prey is caught and shakes its web.

If the man would look up, there would be a silhouette of someone's head looking down into the pit. However, considering the fact that there was no lightsource in the pit itself other than maybe the motorcycles head light, which of course, would be pointed at one of the dirt walls or something, the only real light source was provided from the sky. It would simply hide the facial features of the man as he looked down into the pit.

"Just someone who was passing through. I trust these things are common around here... I doubt you'll give your name, so I'll get to the point." He simply kept moving upward, regardless of what else was said or done. First, he'd get out; then he'd assess the threat. One thing at a time, here. Then again, the person, whoever it was, was already a threat, seeing as they had laid the trap.

"What do you want? I'm busy at the moment, and not with this hole you've dug for me."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 01, 2006 11:50 pm

"What do I want?" A pause. "Nothing else from you..."

That was a rather... suspicious answer wasnt it? Have they've met before? Who knows? Who cares? The silhouette would retreat and disappear over the edge of the pit where it had originally came from before. Only a second later, several other heads would poke peek over the edge.

Decruda had already taken a 'sample' from Evan White, and had no more interest in him, so, he simply would go off and looks for new prey. However, others remained, mainly the five S-II ghouls which had accompanied him until the point where he left. Evan could feed the ghouls for all he cared.

Nothing else... what the hell is he on?

His mind tried to recall. What would he have needed from him earlier? Something was not right about this. Especially about the five heads that just popped up. This line of questioning would have to wait until later...

Threat has been determined. No more climbing. Worry later- go now.

With that, he kicked off of the wall, freeing his swords from their confinement at the same time. With that, he kicked both legs downwards... and went bursting upwards, the greaves adorned around his shins shining a light blue. A pillar of air pressure had been created underneath him, giving him a solid surface to launch off of.

Five feet upwards... another jump, and another five feet. He got his swords ready. Another five feet upwards... and in the space of exactly four seconds, he was above the hole instead of inside it. With a final kick outwards instead of downwards, he came rushing at the nearest target, both weapons at the ready and pointing forward.

In other words, he was trying to impale the first target he saw.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 12:15 am

Four seconds. That was a lot of time. Time enough for the five ghouls to each fire off 16 of the poisoned needles from the mechanisms strapped to their wrists. However, they seemed to just watch him doubfoudly with their souless eyes.

And then one ghoul was impaled, blades cutting through the rotten belly of the monster and sticking out the other side, the force of impact from Evan's body crashing into the ghoul, not including the blades, as they would meet little resistance against soft flesh, would drive the ghoul to stumle back.

However, at that time, they would act. As a... 'thing' that didnt feel pain, as it was not living, the ghoul would clamp its arms around Evan's body and try to dig its claws into the flesh of his lower back, its own arms positioned at a place in the middle section of the man's forearms as they pressed together, as to prevent him from using the arms any further other than the wrists and incidentally, the weapons too. At the same time, the ghoul would lash out with its face and try to bite whatever Evan offered in range.

The other four ghouls would be on the move even as Evan made his initial charge, spittle flying and howling for blood. The began to circle around the pit and fire off needles coated in a specially prepared poison at the man and first ghoul as they met. The ghoul itself had little to fear of the neuro toxin, so a strategy involving 'friendly fire' really wouldnt be applicable.

The attack met. No effect. Needles incoming, lots of them. Don't forget that bite. What now? Simple enough, though it wouldn't seem that way at first. The claws were the unseen element, but easily handled. The fact was that Evan not only moved forward with those weapons- He threw his entire body behind the attack. If that didn't damn well ground an opponent, nothing would.

Seeing as that wasn't the case though, Evan moved before the arms could wrap around his person. Swinging his legs forward and underneath the undead, he pulled his weapons free and slid along the dirt and grass, leaving a wake of dust. He ended up about five feet away before quickly getting up and making an organized attempt at deflecting the rest of the needles with both blades in a frantic dance.

I have to move faster.

There was only one way that was going to happen...
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 12:54 am

Needles punctured flesh and bounced off a metal breastplate as the ghoul was turned into a pincushion for a second, only to turn around and face the man before letting out a screach and charge him while he deflected the last of the needles.

However, as that happened, the other ghouls moved to surround him while firing off another volley of the needles, ever keeping him busy. Perhaps he should keep moving before they would surround him.

I guess there's no turning back. Find an opening, or create one.

It was simple enough to do, really. As he deflected the incoming projectiles, he began focusing his energy. It was easy enough to do, provided that he was moving around enough. All he had to do was gather his energy with every swing and parry.

And once there was enough, he let a technique fly. Pivoting clockwise on his right foot with both blades extended, he let out a shout of focus. With that, a massive ring of air pressure shot ten feet outward from the combined might of the blades and the centrifugal force.

And he spun again... and yet a third time, completing the technique. That would be a total of three attacks... the needles would be re-directed back towards their targets, and the air pressure would simply slice through or push back anything in its way.

Technique Used
Hurricane- A spin in a clockwise direction with the blade(s) extended in an Ichimonji (horizontal cut, targeted just below the opponent's rib cage) that causes a circular wave of energy as the blade passes through the air. Can be done up to three times for an added effect, and further motion in any direction.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 02, 2006 1:39 am

A ring. It primarily involves the x-axis and the z-axis, and perhaps a minimal touch on the y-axis; a circle viewed from a birds-eye-view, positioned below the ribs of the ghoul.

Unlike a cylinder or a sphere, a ring left quite a bit of space open above and below it. The only needles that would be deflected back were those that corresponded exactly to the dimensions of this ring, which would be minimal to none at best considering that the sheet of air pressure would have to be thin enough to slash something, and as for the others? The surrounding winds caused by the centrafugal force, which is outgoing to a central point on which it stands, would probably just blow them off course.

But the needles would be the least of the worries. Evan probably should have moved back, considering that he only left five feet between himself and the first ghoul. Five feet being about two arms length. Two arms lengths being something akin to a step and a half. Now, factor in the charging force of the ghoul's movement, which would be a heavy drive forward to produce the quickness of a charge.

What did this yield? A dangerous situation.

As Evan would spin around with his arms out, releasing energy in the form of athin pressurized sheet of air with cutting power, the ghoul would have launched it's body forward with all its force and be cut in twain at the waist. So what was so dangerous about this?

First off, the ghoul's momentum would continue on, carrying its upper body forward through the air within the five feet of space Evan left between himself and the ghoul. Secondly, as the man would be spinning to create centrifugal force, the energy and technique used would only begin from his blades outwards. Like every situation in combat, there was a point when one can 'get inside thei opponent's guard', in this case, quite literally, as anything inside of the spinning blades were not affected by the ring.

So, quite simply, the ghoul's upper body would fly overtop of Evan's blades and arms as it reached out to grab ahold of the man by the throat and arm. However, considering the fact that Evan would be spinning around very quickly, this would be a hard thing to do.

The hand which reached down to grab at Evan's arms would meet propellers; claws simply tearing at the cloth, flesh, and skin which would constantly be moving around into the path of the razor like claws as Evan released the rings three times.

The hand that reached for Evan's throat however would also find no purchase as the man would be spinning on the y-axis, where the ghould would simply not be able to get a good grip, and like before, its claws would dig into flesh. Like one of those fancy peelers where you stick an apple on some rotating thing and hold a blade against it, the claws would simply shear into neck and throat as the man spun around it in a constant cut.

Now, even though the ghouls were anamalistic in their packlike cunning mentality, they were really too stupid to notice that their needles were simply not hitting the target which remained stationary, in which they answered with more needles as they surrounded him while being pushed back into the ten foot range of the rings.

And so, when that came to an end, the ghoul with only its upper body left, would try to get a bite of whatever it can get at, be it a leg if it fell over, or Evan's face if it did happen to get a good grip around his neck.

It didn't get a good grip.

As suggested earlier, it wouldn't be able to. And while the rotation was underway, Evan saw his opponent coming even before the hand extended. He smirked. This would be somewhat interesting. He would try to use the stick in the fan trick.

Not going to work... Evan was moving too fast. But why just keep moving when there were two opportunities to counter? So he let the arm stop him... on the second spin. But he kept on moving, and thus turned from his position, spinning to the right. And with that, he was to his opponent's side... before he steped forwards and underneath.

The hand missed entirely, and now the target was right above him. This wouldn't hurt, but it'd neutralize the threat- or at least, one of them.

"HYAAAAAI~!"

He suddenly thrust the short sword forwards and upwards towards the opponent's head, a rush of air accompanying the strike. Frankly, the compressed air alone would have done the trick, but the blade was too close... it went through anyways. This attack would tear the opponent's skull apart at this range.

And with that, he leapt upwards, cutting through the corpse with his katana, slicing the opponent summarily in half from underneath. Thus, both the needles and the ghoul were dealt with. Now, if that didn't stop him, he'd be in serious trouble.

Not like he wasn't already, but there was still a way out.

Technique Combination
Heaven Piercer- Tsuki (forward stab to the throat, windpipe, or chest) with an added effect. The blade is pulled back, and the practitioner begins to focus. When the desired point of focus has been reached, take one step forward and thrust forward. Along with the powerful stab, the gathered energy is projected, acting as a giant needle and an effective short or long range attack. Can be done while airborne for an air-to-ground attack, as a normal aerial manuver, or as an anti-air attack from the ground.

Rising Divide- A heavy upwards cut done while jumping in the air from a low forward crouch-step, using air pressure to further elevate the jump. An effective way to slide under an attack and counter. Can be done twice to keep the opponent airborne, and open up possibilites for mid-air tactics.
