((Bah, sorry I haven't RPed in so long, I was on my winter break and didn't get online much n.n'))

Mafa grinned in pride as the cubs reluctantly wandered off. One for the hyena's, zero for the lions. She let a small chuckle that was a characteristic of her kind and then look to Sauda who was looking quite famished no doubt. Her mood seemed to lighten slightly; making taking some anger out on those cubs helped get all those pent up emotions out. She took a final glance at the foul lions as they left; knowing that they would surely meet again and if that nosy adult wasn't going to intervene again Mafa would tear the cub up... With help from Sauda of course! But Sauda seemed wussy; Mafa would have to toughed her up before and more confrontations.

"Eat Sauda, before they change their stupid minds and come trotting back for more hyena beat downs..."

Mafa smiled and looked to Sauda and then took a seat in the bright sand; something alot different from the gray earth she was used to in the graveyard. She sighed and waited for Sauda to take her fill.

The swiftpaw raised a paw, ready to scoot back to Kikora's side when Binti looked around again. To cover up for her raised paw, she flexed it and watched her claws as if distracted. This... reminds me of home. She realized, instantly matching the two seemingly "clashing" cubs to members of the pride she left voluntarily. She's just like Auntie, and he's like my cousin. Weird -- they're even acting like them! Even armed with this useless bit of information, she still had no idea how to proceed.

Then the wind shifted. Kono-epesi lifted her head and tasted the breeze, immediatly showing her moonlight-white fangs. She smelled hyena - several - and a fresh kill. "Looks like they're still around," she murmured to her golden companion, glancing back at her.

Kikora's ears pricked to catch Kono's comment. She raised her head, noticing the change of the breeze. She sniffed cautiously and caught the odour of hyena as well.
Her lip lifted in a faint snarl.
"Unfortunately," she whispered back. "I don' trust 'em at all."

Sauda watched as the cubs ran off and tilted her head, her nose tingling with the scent of the kill. She looked to Mafa briefly at the other pup's words before lowering her head to tear into the bit of flesh still lingering on the bones, eating hungrily until she'd had her fill. Sitting back up slowly, she licked at her maw to remove any traces of blood and such that had gotten on her usually flawless coat. Having finished her meal, Sauda stifled a yawn and stretched slowly, still looking off in the direction that the cubs had ran.

In all honesty, Sauda wasn't that good of a fighter, though she was still young and there was time to learn things like that. Her parents had done most of her fighing for her to be truthful. "Well, I don't think they'll come back. We showed them!"

Kono-epesi scooted back from the others, closer to Kikora. "You'n'me both," her red-orange eyes narrowed, racial hatred starting to boil in her veins. "Nasty, stupid mutts! Always trying to take th'huntress' kill after they finally get something. It's one of the reasons I like eating birds -- there's only enough for very few, so you can eat and be off before a rot-eater comes along." She hissed, her ears folded flat on her head. "I dunno about you mate, but I suggest we move on -- I'd rather not wake up to find a corpse-breath ready to pounce on one of us."

"That'd be a good idea," she whispered. "They en't gonna smell us as easy as we do them, though." A fierce smile spread over her face. "Nothin' smells as much as a stinkin' hyena." Her hatred of them stemmed from bad experience - Kikora had been driven off many kills by the scavengers. She took a step backwards, ready to leave, when she suddenly remembered. The golden cub cast a cautious glance at Binti, unwilling to make her any more angry than she already was. "We gotta figure out how to get away in one piece," she muttered.

Binti, for once, had been listening, rather than running off her mouth. Damn, but Essi was a good influence. Tilting her head slightly to the side, she felt a bit better to hear the two previously unagressive lioness cubs talk so bitterly about hyenas. Muttering a quick "No harm's done." she turned to walk away--after all, she still clung to the idea that she had to be completely independent, and travelling with others would mean becoming dependent--Essi, for some reason, didn't count.

Kikora blinked several times, stunned into silence as Binti turned to leave. Well! She felt as if she ought to speak, but then reconsidered. After all, they had only just got out of what could have been trouble, and she didn't wish to go jumping back in again.
Still, her brain was scrambling for something nice to say - in fact, anything to say at all.

Kono-epesi was just as stunned as Kikora when the agressive lioness turned away. With a shrug, she turned to the golden lioness. "I guess here's our chance - think we should try to find another waterhole that doesn't come with those... dogs?" The swiftpaw asked, nodding in the direction of the hyenas. "And I think we should take anothe route then that... you know took. Next time, who knows where her wrath would go?" She spared Essien a glance before turning back to Kikora, reasoning with herself that others with dark fur do exist, and that he wasn't the only one.

Kikora turned back to Kono-epesi, nodding in agreement. "Definitely - somewhere far away from the mongrels." She pronounced the word as though it was something dirty and smelly - indeed, in her mind, it was.
The golden cub spared a last glance in the direction of the departing Binti. "We should move away from her, for sure. She might get real snappy next time we see her. We were real lucky, though!" she added. "That wasn't lookin' too great before."

The black and orange cub nodded her head vigerously and stood, quickly padding past her friend in the opposide direction of the other two parties. "The question is..." She began, motioning for her friend to follow before slipping into the tall grass, "Which way? I think we should remember where this is, just in case we ever get thirsty and need water... Though, we might have'ta be prepared to deal with them."

"Maybe we should just keep goin' this way?" Kikora followed the other cub into the grasses. "Though I dunno what's over here...I came from the other direction." She cast a quick glance over her shoulder. "Yeah, you're right, though, we need to 'member to avoid her and the mutts now as well. So..." The golden cub squinted, trying to see ahead through the tall grass. "We should just keep movin' away from them, then?"

"I think it's our best bet if we do," the black cub replied, treading her way through the tall grass. "I mean, if we stick around... How would the next encounter go? I don't think it'd be wise to find out, but then again, she looked like someone useful to have as an ally. But..." She made a face. "Considering how she acted, she might've treated us like the useless members in a pride."

After her taste of freedom, Kono-epesi doubted she'd ever manage to return to having someone look down on her, or look down on someone herself. "At least this way we're increasing our odds of meeting someone new?" She ventured, stopping to sniff the breeze, shrug, and move on.

Kikora nodded, following the other cub. "Yeah...she weren't even nice to her own friend!" She shuddered, remembering the timid way the gray cub had spoken to Binti, and the snarl he got in reply. "You're right though, she did seem like a good fighter, but I didn't want to stick 'round to find out!"

She paused, listening to Kono-epesi's comment. "Just as long as they en't so unfriendly, I'll be happy to meet anyone." The golden cub noticed her friend pause to smell the air. "D'you smell anythin' interestin'?" she asked.

Kono-epesi nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah! Though, nice people seem to be in short supply..." She paused and sniffed again. "I think..." She started, "I think I smell meerkat. Y'know, small little long furry things that stand around and stare into space? M'bro and I used to try to dig into meerkat dens for fun." She grinned, her tail flicking back and forth at the memory. "We never wound up with any to eat, but it was fun to see how fast we could dig before we lost sight and smell of the 'kat."

She turned towards the direction of the scent, angling herself slightly. The direction was away from the waterhole, and slightly off-course from where the pair were origionally heading. "Wanna see if we can catch any?" She asked, her voice holding a hint of a challenge.
