Seeing no living foes, Flare slumped against the wall of the fort, low enough she wasn't a target for snipers. She continued to hold the fire she had charged.

"You," she said to one of the shades. "Go tell them that the dark haired man with the sword and the yellow eyes out there...

"...may not be our ally, but I don't wish him dead. If he does not attack us, I request that you allow him to retreat. If he does something foolish...do whatever is necessary."

She watched the shade do whatever it did next. "And somebody get me some bandages...or a white mage..."

((Hopefully the message will be relayed to Kami))

(( I really need to figure out just what it is i've been left in charge of here... ))

Kami sent the shades he brought with him into the fort, and gave orders to begin reinforcing the defenses. One of the Rooks that followed the monk this far picked up and helped the battered Hakan back into the fort. Others set about inside to tend to the wounded, using whatever was available. Kami started to walk in himself when he looked over at the straggler from the battle. The monk narrowed his eyes for a moment and scratched his chin before finally recognising the fellow. A flash of recognition caused him to mutter a quiet curse under his breath. He cupped his hand to his mouth and shouted, "Hey, Vahn isn't it? Skedaddle would ya? We're a little busy here."

Hakan did three things as the last of the apparant hostiles were taken out.

First, sheathed the blade he still had in a hand, and then crawled over to grab and sheathe the other one and get his bow. Even hurt, even in shock, he wasn't going to let those weapons just by lying around.

Second, he threw up. Right there in front of himself. This was really the first time he'd seen so much death up close. This was his first war. It...wasn't as fun and glorious as he'd thought. Maybe he'd reconsider joining something like this last time.

Well, unless a hot girl asked. He'd have to join in, then.

And then, the third and final thing. He collapsed and bled, right next to his pile of vomit. Luckily not in.

"...medic?"

Edit: This would all happen before he'd let Kami's rook carry him back to the fortress.

JB
The two rolling shades, seemingly safe, returned to the "gate" to guard it.

The five remaining archers were once again in position.

The three inside the fort were climing up the makeshift inside to get to the roof.

The armoured shade, while he wouldn't get there in time to save Haken from getting hurt, the shade would arvie in time to swat some dudes with his axe. If they the miners were lucky they would get the flat end.

The miners wouldn't be lucky.

The shades with sheilds found them very useful, protecting themselves from a good deal of the barrage. One goon would get a lucky shot, felling a shade with a shot to the leg causing a stumble, followed by a shot through the eye.
The sheilds would once again come in handy in melee combat. Gun butts would bounce off, and then swords would go through guts.

((You have five archers, 1 armoured shade, and at least 4 other shades. Plus what you brought with you.))

Flare was content to let a shade begin working on her wounds. She was vaguely aware that Vahn was making some sort of scene, but her fire couldn't harm him, anyway. If it got serious, she'd run. She intended to live through this, and not traumatize Owle or Sun by killing their lover, thank you.

She wondered if the shades had painkillers. That would be nice.

(( AFK a moment. haven't eaten in 9 hours and need to figure out just what i'm commanding here. ))

"Nng-h...h...!"

His head was lowered, even as his left hand clamped down onto his right bicep. Too long... without... the medication... His teeth were gritted to the point that he was likely to grind his teeth to dust, even as the heat continued to build up around him.

Small gusts of wind travelled out from him, even as he bent forward, the shout of his name going unheard.

The stitches all around his right arm glowed a dark hue, even as the Fang shined a dull and bleak black. "Yaits...!" He couldn't stop his arm even if he wanted to, as it began to hang back.

While the destruction of the dam had been under his own free will, what was happnening at the moment couldn't be attributed to that, and allt he blood on the right side of his face had already begun forming into something else... masking whatever human side was left.

There was something... or someone in those ruins that Vahn's body was resonating with.

((If that someone is supposed to be Sunstrike or Stryphe, they logged off in the middle of combat, and thus are now at the Shade base under the "run like hell" rule.

If it's not, forgive my presumption and carry on.))

The armored Commander shade recognised Kami's signal and began distributing orders to the others. The three who were heading to the roof worked on finishing their crossbows. The Rooks took to moving whatever heavy masonrary they could and began reinforcing the walls. Both of the Ice Bishops began to channel their spells in tandem, filling the gaps in the walls with thick walls of ice (While strong, they will only last out another hour, -5 min for any fire spell that hits them). The Null Shades took up position on the battlements, each poised above the entrance. The 3 shades with swords and shields took up position at the entrance defensively, the remaining one without a sheild began working to fashion it's sword into a nice and burly two-hander. The original five archers retained their position.

Kami sighed and shook his head at the freaky guy losing his cool in front of his new charge. Several more small paper men fell out of his sleeve and caught his backpack as he shrugged it off. They would continue to carry it into the base and begin dispensing medical supplies, two of them having been program with the knowledge of how to actually use them. In a short whlie most everyone should be in fighting condition.

Kami meanwhile brought his hand out of his sleeve and produced in it a fistful of paper wards. "Even if your reputation didn't precede you, you leak fire energy like a seive."

With a flick of the wrist he flung the Ofuda at Vahn, causing them to slice through the air like thrown daggers until they reached him, at which point they would circle around him in fast, yet lazy circles. These were some of the fire reflection wards he was working on, and while they were present they would work to suppress any flames he might try to produce.

They were little paper dolls.

Flare stared at them.

What the ******** then they started crawling on her. That was not-

Wait? Fishing the bullets out. Oh. They were...

...magical healing little men. Or something. "I wish my paper dolls did this..." she muttered to no one in particular. Her wounds were sealed with magical little ofuda that would accelerate the healing, and mystical paper dolls had some painkillers. But she still had the urge to play dress-up with them.

((This doesn't happen instantly. Talking with Kami as to how much time I should give it.))

Rocky Lake ->

The four UGH soldiers spread out as they crossed the bridge, taking cover on either side of the ruins with the main 'street' in the center, two to each side. They'd hold their fire for now. It appeared that one man, by description, the one who had destroyed the dam, was trying to take down the fortress by himself. They'd wait.

"Come out..."

His head lowered, raven locks sticking to the sides of his head thanks to the blood. And if the slips of paper retained their dagger-like qualities, then they would bite and tear into flesh/clothing as Vahn's right arm suddenly lowered with that hefty downward swing, that would shear the earth in front of him itself.

"COME OUT!!"

While not as strong as the power he had used to crack an already weakened Dam-- it was still a showcase of the amount of force that could from such a battered body.

Releasing the compressed heat created a vaccum condition that already began shooting towards the fortress itself.

Regardless if the person he could feel was still there or not, this was where he had been felt. And he was going to cut into every inch of that place until he found something.

The slips of paper would try their best to supress his flame, to snuf fhim out, but the more he bled, the more he let his true self escape.

It wasn't just the blood of a man pumping through those veins after all...

If the monk persisted in making himself known to Vahn, then he would have to be cut down as well.

Quote:
Crescent Drive:
When in it's true state, the flames that surround the blade are deadly, and multiply the damage of its slash. It can create a vacuum condition when it releases the compressed heat. Releasing the compressed heat via a rising slash that shewns a great gash into the floor, extending it into the ground and causing dust to be kicked up by the cutting effect.

Hakan was brought inside the fortress and set aside, out of the way, as the little healers moved in and began thier work on him. Painkillers, wounds tended, bandages with fast healing...

...it'd take a little bit, but Hakan would be able to fight again alot sooner than expected. Good thing, too. He'd have hated being useless for the rest of this.

Right behind the troops but before the others Quin was coming in. Wearing the stained and tattered clothes of a dressed down blue blood with parts of plate armour covering his body and a flint lock in hand he was coming.

The scabbard of his sword wagged behind him with each move of his hip and he clasped it tightly with his right as he ran at a half crouch. He didn't know exactly what type of forces to be expecting.

Hitting the beach head like some epic invasion from history Quin pressed foward towards the ruins.

Flare saw it coming. Ah, death. At least she had the pleasure of knowing Vahn's mind would be ripped apart by hundreds of little golden snakes sometime if she died here.

Being upstairs, and still having a hole in her wing, Flare moved as far away from the blade as she could get while still staying within the fortress.

The little paper men continued to mend her wounds. By now they had all the bullets out, but they had to scurry to keep up with her to try to bandage her up.

Jacob was, similarly, behind the soldiers, but he walked steadily enough. The coat had hardly had time to dry, but it didn't matter much:
It was cureboiled leather, splint-armored. The thing was already a beast of attire. His form would be nearly impossible to make out against the backdrop, and he expected simply being unable to locate him would protect him from archers. On either arm a buckler was strapped, with a foot and a half-long metal spike extending from his wrist out.

He then drew one axe, three-feet long, held in his left hand. He had another just like it to be used in his fighting, but his right hand had another item to draw. A .357 magnum entered that fist, not snub nosed but not overly large. He fully intended to shoot before closing.

Equipped as such he hopped from the bridge, and began the scale upwards, entering the low ruins quickly and easily, making hardly a sound. Jacob was stealthy as an owl in flight, taking care to use cover to even block infrared or otherwise assisted sight.

Someone else would be sparking the fight.
