[Dreaming of Silver Sky] xD My boyfriend is Army. Still West Coast based for now. But, getting sent to an overseas base within this year. He wants to go to the 'sandbox,' but I'm happy he's not getting sent there.
Other than that, three more friends going into the Army. And I'm debating between AF and Army. Depends on my rank and what job I'd like I suppose. >.>'' Your boyfriends a dumbass for wanting to see hell. Tell him if he is that serious about wantinbg to experience Iraq turn the oven on to about 130 degrees, then stand in front of it in full combat uniform. Or he can go to a suana wearing a snowsuit. And you should always choose Army... No mission to dangerous, no sacrifice to great. Duty First

He is evidently ignorant though; much like myself when I first joined. Believe you me, there's nothing glorious or honorable or even fun about what we do over here. I have seen people die, I've seen people shot at point-blank range in the face, and I've been in just about every shitty situation imaginable over here. You couldn't pay me enough to come over here a second time as 11B. Favine The Wolf of fire Corinthius [Dreaming of Silver Sky] xD My boyfriend is Army. Still West Coast based for now. True, if you go to Korea you might get shot at, but only if you get stationed at Camp Casey, which is almost right at the DMZ, and then you need to actually patrol the DMZ and get in the crosshairs of some trigger-happy NVA. And even if you do all that, you're not allowed to shoot back, so what's the point?

Hey... I'm an MP currently over here in Iraq... and I drive an ASV! (when it's not broke) And yeah, deployment sucks, having to roll out ever day, in a truck with a broken AC, in full battle rattle, with a couple assholes for team mates, but over all I'm glad I was able to come. I see violence, death and have been hit by IED's myself, but overall if I had spent my 5 years in the Army without getting deployed, I wouldn't feel like I earned my keep. I'm glad that I'm over here with my buddies, who know we all want EVERYONE to come back home in one piece.

Et Filii, I hate it for you. MPs are some of the few who (by and large) have it worse than 11Bs.

Well I am glad I was accepted into this guild. It feels like home talking to all of my Army family. I am a female soldier married to a male soldier. I will be retiring in November after 20 years in the Active Army and 2 years in the Reserves. My husband has 15 under his belt. Well Prayers to all our brother and sisters over seas and preparing to go. I did one tour and my husband has done four. I pray for us all.
Much love to the Army!!!
