I really like the character, Sunny/Cass :3
Its believable, you obviously have done your research into transgendered characters, and interesting even beyond that character point, so that being transgendered doesn't completely define the character.

And of course, the being disowned by the parents also makes it that much easier to disappear, and I like the angle on the psychological tests of the transgender serum on someone who already associates themselves with the final gender. (And would make for an interesting control with a character the other way around).

And there's no problem with a big list of animals to consider - it leaves you options!

The problem with the second island sceme would be that especially if the psychiatrist doesn't work for feral labs anymore, she wouldn't know anything about a special island being used for test subjects - or what they looked for in canidates. Most feral labs employees don't even know about it.

I do think with toning down the severity of his disorder that he wouldn't have as hard a time getting 'selected' to be taken to the island.
As far as psychiatrists go, it's not a simple thing as a "cure". Most work with clients for years, getting to know them, not just trying to mould them to casebook examples. It wouldn't be viewed badly if it wasn't an open and shut case because it didn't fit a mold.

Given his wealthy family, however, it would be very difficult to disappear him. If they were given the "answer" that he killed himself, then Feral Labs would be sued for a LOT of money. he's underage, in their care, and supposedly at a center to be treated. It would likely draw a lot of REALLY bad press for them. And the disorder that he is under isn't one that might have fatal consequences usually barring a suicide - so a pass off of "he didn't make it" wouldn't fly.

To me it seems like you're trying to make him special in a number of unrelated aspects (the eyes, the WEALTHY family, and the cutting psychosis).

I would ask why the wealthy family? If you could have him being from a low income family, then the fact that they are seeking help for him but don't know really what to do - they might turn to a low cost clinic out of desperation not knowing what else to do. They could come up with a special opportuity to travel to a clinic that would watch him long-term, ensure his health and safety... etc.

Sounds like a good start, and the character is definately interesting. I like the ethnic background a lot.

I'm not entirely sure if how he got the island really jives, however. They usually try to avoid people in the public eye since they have more connections. One idea I could just toss out - what if Jin used the temporary enhancer serum? Perhaps he was using it, and he was beginning to feel ill and went to a hospital. Feral Labs would be very interested in getting to him and figuring out the effects. ANd of course.. once he was there, they could let him leave.

Just an idea. But I think the "getting there" part is only part that really needs a workover. Otherwise the character sounds fine.

While its not required to change or anything, I just want to let you know that there is another questor is questing for an ahnorexic girl getting turned into a whale. Just FYI incase thats a problem for you. (some people dont' want a concept that overlaps at all, some people don't care. Niether or you would be 'required' to change the cocnept either way). BUT - since the guy is already huge because of muscle mass, have you ever considered a sloth (lazy animals) or a like.. something notably skinny and scrawny. Like a walking stick bug, or a flamingo/stork or some kind. Or a whippet dog XD

Just something food for thought. Whale's are actually quite muscular - the later of blubber is there mostly for insultation and bouincy.

Sounds awesome. The how he got the island seems little shakey, however. Feral Labs would be very picky who they took to work on, say, construction jobs. BUt its willwork if nothing comes up differently. God knows Aubrey is on the lookout for men like Gaius for Colche!

However, one of Feral Labs more "sneakier" ways to get people to the island are to steal them at hospitals and say they died during surgery. It doesn't beg a lot of questions from people, and its an easy way to "dissapear" people with family and friends.

The idea that's come to my mind is what if he and some co-workers were involved in a construction accident? He might not have been hurt very much, at least nothing more serious than a concussion, but again, being the hosputal would give Feral Labs a reason to 'flag' him and get him away easier.

But thats just a suggestion of course.

Over all, love it. We need more general 'nice guys' on the island.
