Everything seemed pretty peaceful. He'd done a few part times, lagged most of the time, but did what he could. It was nice. He bickered a couple times with everyone, sure, but it was entertaining, most of the time. It wasn't something he hated.
Ilker still couldn't remember the day before. No one could, not yet. For some reason, no matter how long it'd been, that day was just... gone. It had to have been some powerful magic, or something... Even more sinister. Every time he tried to remember it always came up static, frustrating and annoying. The crystal? It'd been green. But what did green even mean? Was green important? Was it better than red? But red seemed good. It looked powerful.
Red was the better color.
And suddenly, it wasn't red anymore. It was cracks. Cracks of black and red and immediately, the lights went off.
Thankfully Ilker wasn't a panicky person on the outside. The moment the lights disappeared, Ilker had been ready to start anything, purple eyes almost daring anyone to come near him. He sneered.
His phone was going off like crazy now. One message after the other poured in, explaining the situation. He played with his lip rings as he read the incoming messages, how apparently, that crystal was the only way the Dusk had power. Ilker clicked his tongue. Now how would he manage?? He needed light to watch his shows and for his poor fishes. Now what would he do?
He supposed, all he could do. Ilker headed out. It was time to work.

[Part Two]
The power went out and Terr did what he did best, which was wait. He wasn't one of the foolish colts who would lose all sense of themselves and give into blind panic. Well, he might have been, once upon a time. Certainly the crystal was an important part of the Dusk and you needed FEAR power to see or do anything nowadays. It was awful to be so reliant on something, but that was the way it worked and Terr had no choice in the matter.
He continued to wait in the darkness in his workshop, thought part of him hoped someone would come to check on him, burst in out of concern for his well being. But not even Elaia would be so irresponsible of their own safety and for some reason this seemed to be something Terr knew someone else was more liable to do.
The crystal's loss of power seemed to jog something in his mind and that's when it struck him. He was missing someone but they just weren't from Death. And he'd been cooped up in his workshop or doing odd jobs too much to have been given reason to remember-
His phone began to buzz. A steady string of messages cascading all of a sudden. They had a new job they had to accomplish had they? Wordlessly, Terr read the instructions. Collect FEAR for the good of the Clan. No one needed to tell him that. It was their job and they would do it unquestioningly. However, he did make sure to send a message to someone he hadn't heard from in far too long.

Scarlett couldn't have said why she was sitting alone in a medical room or why, really, that fact didn't seem to alarm her at all.
As she woke she was only dimly aware of an inkling at the back of her mind, tickling her thoughts with a secret - something was missing, or maybe it was forgotten? Looking around the bare interior of four walls that screamed sterile, she could only assume the glaring emptiness she felt was due to the complete and total lack of decoration around her (overzealous javelin throws certainly didn't count as interior design).
Curious, Scarlett slipped slowly from the metal table, making no sound as her delicate silk slippers found purchase on the cold floor. One hand trailed along the inlays of the table as she examined it, her bright eyes interested in the only form of beauty this room had to offer. It felt like an art exhibit, the centerpiece, meant to be the only beautiful thing in the space. It made sense, in a weird way, but it certainly wasn't comforting.
She glanced down at the survey, the only thing other than herself that seemed to be temporary. Nothing about the questions seemed at all interesting so she simply picked up the pen and drew one long, diagonal line from corner to corner. She had seen it, the wordless answer said, and she didn't care.
The long tail of her pony whipped behind her as she turned away to the door and slipped through it. There was nothing else of interest here.

[Lobby - Part Two]
Scarlett slipped through the halls and down to the lobby without stopping to speak with the famine labcoats flitting around her. There was no reason in her mind to question why she had been left alone in an exam room - if her somewhat spotty memory served her right, it was just a pretty common occurrence with her and now was no different than any time before. She still didn't like medical offices. Ever. The sooner she could be away from the peculiar, sterile environment, the better.
As she entered the lobby, there seemed to be fewer and fewer labcoats and more normal citizens. It was a relief, though the look on her face was as stony and blank as it ever was. Their presence was a comfort by comparison but silence was still her favorite sound. Not only did it mean she didn't have to make nonsensical small talk but it also allowed her to hear the bits and pieces of conversations floating around her.
Some of those closest to her we're buzzing about the crystal - what crystal wasn't a necessary question. She knew, even before she reached the window, that they meant THE crystal looming above them. It was the same way she knew her name, her family. It was a fact. She was, the crystal was. The only peculiar thing was that the crystal wasn't.. right.
A pair of long, pale fingers tapped on the windowsill as she peered up at the glowing red in the sky. Those cracks, growing too rapidly, had definitely not been there before. At once she understood the buzz of those around her and the alarming dread settled in the pit of her stomach.
Then all at once, the lights were out.
Darkness didn't scare her but the reasons behind the pitch black did. For the first time since she woke, Scarlett felt herself overcome with a deeply rooted sense of worry that even her careful reasoning couldn't calm. She forced her bright eyes to peel away from the window, turned her focus on getting to the lobby and, if necessary, out of The Dusk.
Maybe she could find Zyk or Ever, could they have any answers?
The glow of her cellphone washed her in a pale, ghostly light as she walked and typed at the same time. One of them had to be close by.
Kagerou started to get a bit more comfortable, though the hazy parts of his mind still lingering an eerie feeling on his subconscious. He closed his eyes for a moment, thoughts mulling over as he tucked his arms in the sleeves of the other.
Am I happy here? The question had just happened upon him, did he ever really truly feel the happiness he searched for? It was a bleak question to answer, with everything that brought together his existence the happiness would always be tucked away somewhere. To fade away in a moment. Opening his eyes, the red in his iris reflected that of the crystal outside.
You remember hearing someone mention it was the source of Fear energy for the Dusk. Fear. Fear was something he knew too well, even if his full memories were but distance the knowledge of fear was engraved into him. The crystal was something to be coveted, it breathed the fear that they all thrived off of. A peaceful coexistence to which they both drove each other. The crystal, and the horsemen.
But something was off. His attention perked up more closely outside to the crystal, seeing as its glow ever so dulled and faded. Scars now more prominent against his surface. Kagerou, but for a moment, wondered what had happened to the crystal. But before his thoughts could even be connected the lights went out. His body stiffened and froze in its place as if when the lights went out all movement from his body left him as well. There was no use in panicking but the horseman still felt unsettled by this development.
Red.
Although the light was dull it still reminded him of the crystal, as if everything now reflected the energy source. Kagerou waited for a while before he heard any sort of notification, looking down at his phone he started to read the information they now had. Everything was not alright, it had seemed to turn the complete opposite actually, and now he had to do something in order to help. How he hated the thought that he might need to interact with others, it drained the energy from him. But something still drove him forward, maybe the thought that the crystal's very existence could go out, maybe fear itself. His toes, void of any covering, touched the cool flooring as he scrambled to find his footing in the darkness until an heir found him. The conquest horseman looked at the options, and then to the earring. His ears were pierced already and the addition of this accessory would go nicely. Kagerou pulled up his fur scarf against his face, feeling the soft texture against his skin. What would the next step entail for him? He was all alone, barely having made anny connection with anyone. Even with the other conquest horsemen he still felt seperated from them. He hesitated for a moment before he would go to the representative, seeing if anyone would interact with him.

[Part 2 - Maebe]
The darkness excited her. It meant something was happening. Something terrible and destructive, which would leave a mess. She loved a good mess.
The lights flickered back on and Maebe was given a crystal to collect Fear with. To be helpful with. Sure, she would be helpful..
.. right after she went outside to go collect as many pieces of that fallen crystal as she could ..

He grabbed the crystal quickly, and zoomed off to find his beloved. If the clans needed power, he was going to get it for them. And definitely not keep touching that crystal.
That's a lie he's going to keep touching it.

[ part 1 ]
One awoke with teeth and fangs and sharp nails, escaping the building as fast as his feet would carry him.
The second swanned out with grace and elegance, an arched brow and a desire to Prepare.
The third did not trust, did not speak, did not hope. He knew better.
Ellaren, to her credit, did not even flinch at the sudden burst of noise that sliced through the quiet of the hallway. She did, however, take exactly one very calculated step backwards and away from Ilker and Mukei. Within seconds of her repositioning, a fellow Famine horseman crashed to the ground at her feet. Somehow, despite the unexpected entrance, she felt as if it had been nothing less than she should have expected.
"Zircon," she said, smiling, "how good of you to join us. Perhaps you-" At that moment, the lights cut out and she cut herself off mid-sentence to match. This bit of unexpected was not so familiar, was it? What was happening? When the lights returned, dim and red, some instinct turned her attention to finding a window to peer through. Even from here, the growing cracks in the crystal were obvious. Before yesterday it had been green. Now it was breaking. This was nothing short of a crisis, and they would have to find a way to deal with it even without answers to what had happened during their missing day.
"Perhaps we should check in with our heir for orders. Ilker, Mukei, keep in contact. You do have your cell phones with you still, correct?" She didn't bother to wait for confirmation from either of them before turning her attention back to the newest of the group."Zircon, we should hurry to Famine." She tilted her head for the exit and then turned and began to walk away, steps hurried. She had no doubts the rest of their clan would be making their way there as well. Better to get there quickly, to see what needed doing.

[ Part 2 ]
His new friend’s energy seemed endless compared to his own. Hush failed to remember a time he had ever pushed his body so hard. Being out in the open, doing jobs, and visiting so many new place felt completely alien to him. He followed her without question, regardless of his exhausted state of being. The thoughts spawning in his brain sounded just as worn out as the rest of him. I can’t keep up much longer. I’m gonna reach my limit soon. This is too much. But I guess something about this feels right. At least my blood is flowing. I feel more alive than usual. Yeah… I’m friends with Me’ah. I’m friends with a horseman. That’s normal… I feel normal… Need to sit for just a moment…
The Death Horseman’s body finally needed to reset and he passed out. Everything went dark and it felt comforting in a nostalgic way. He felt safer now. He needed a few moments to reflect and put his mind back together. After awhile, Hush became a bit concerned. He swore he was awake, but he still could not see. He lifted his arm and poked his eyelids to make sure they were actually open. They were wide open. Why is it so dark? Did I work so hard that I went blind? Is that a thing? Working yourself blind? What am I even laying on?
Hush stood up slowly. His knees popped and ached a bit. He took a few steps forward and noticed the glow of some red lights. He still wasn't certain where he was.The red lights of dissipation have come for us? Wait… That’s not a thing. The power is just out. Maybe Dorothy’s phone will say when it’s coming back on.
He pulled out his phone and checked through it. He read some texts messages and sighed. Wonderful. Never time to rest. Fear? No problem. I’ll get on that… I might need help though. Still not myself yet. He put away his and tried to find anyone familiar. He called out meekly, "Hello?"

He froze until the dim red lights came on. The instinctual command of his weapon manifested, but nothing appeared. Just messages on his phone. Bjorn squinted at it for a moment, wary. No news of what had caused it, only a means of repair. Normally that would be enough--the guardian truly did take refuge in ignorance--but this was too close to home, literally and metaphorically.
He pocketed the crystal and sent a message.

[PART TWO]
Mukei felt like falling through the floor as the girl, Ellaren, said his name. She was talking to him and it just made his knees go weak. He wistfully wished he was dead, so he could fall through the floor and escape that girl's attention. Maybe if he went to the death horseman shindig, they would do him the favor and kill him then and there. It was a brief though of relief, before the girl, Ellaren, talked again. He could not tell if the burning, floating sensation in his stomach was because of her, or something more sinister. The boy was sure he was getting sick, or maybe was allergic to Ellaren, it was something, he assured himself as he felt his face grow hot like fire. She was saying something tho, cellphones? What the whatever would he have a cellphone for? The boy turned to the other boy next to him, Ilker, to ask what on earth that could be, when he remembered how painful the guy's eyes were. Mukei felt like he was going to choke and die when Ilker's eyes turned his way. The boy could see the aggression, the anger, in those eyes. No wonder he was a horseman of death. As if he had a large toad in his throat, Mukei tried to cough out an answer. He choaked once or twice before finally getting a raspy, quiet whisper out. "O....okaaayyyy...." The boy swallowed, feeling his throat go dry as he hoped no one actually heard him say the word. He rasped a breath, panting slightly, as he felt the anxiety take over him. He shouldnt have said anything, he should have just sunk through the floor. Oh why wasnt he a ghost.

[ Part 2 ]
She finally had money to buy lots of clothes and then the power goes out? What the fu....n? The texts were reassuring, for one, people were gonna give her stuff and basically depend on her for the survival of the clans, which, way smart. Bjorn's message was also reassuring, because stay safe didn't mean stay in one place. Just in one piece, right?
BingHua didn't so much as flinch as the lights went out, setting the cup of tea in her hand back down on the table. All she had to do was wait, and things should fix itself, or reveal what needs to be fixed.
And so it did.
“Understood.” BingHua received her bracelet and slipped it on, slovenly rising to her feet without a hint of panic of urgency. There was work to be done.
The lights went out. Merope didn't pay any attention to the outside, so focused he was on the work the Conquest scholars had given him. He sat there, motionless in the dark as he stared at the book in front of him that he could no longer read while his brain hurried to catch up with the recent events.
He began tapping the desk, moving his hand until he located his phone. As soon as he turned it on the messages came flooding in from --
-- from whom?
Merope felt the panic bubbling up inside him as it finally occurred to him that this should not be happening. There should be lights, and he should be studying. He was already behind as it was!
He was saved as the lights came back on. Or at least they came back on in an incomplete way. Merope frowned as the area was flooded with a dim red light. He didn't like it. The color alone put him on edge and made him feel ill at ease.
The imperial soldier stood up, abandoning his school work as he headed towards the main Conquest floor. He soon found himself stopped along with a group of others like him and briefed by a Heir on the situation.
As tempting as it was to take a ring or bracelet and add it to his horns, Merope opted to take a necklace. He put it on and examined the crystal, wishing he paid more attention in artisan class to know more about it. To him, all he knew about it was that it was some sort of crystal. The Heir said it could carry Fear, and a large amount of it.
Merope returned to his room and grabbed his long bow. He belted his quiver on and made sure that it was tilted at an angle. He thought it looked better that way, though he had yet to have anyone comment on his choice of style.
More or less prepared, Merope made his way out.
