"Lady?" Chel turned around and put a hand on her forehead, scanning the horizon. "Where?"

Jack barked a laugh before side stepping the cross to join her. "All I need now is some coffee," he teased, "and it'd be just absolute perfection." There was a slight pause, as if he half expected Chel to bring out a thermos from God only knew where on her person.

His arm came back around her shoulders once more. "In all seriousness, though--this's been amazing, Chel."

Chel kept her gaze even and leaned back against the cross and into his side. "Y'already said that," she reminded him. As they stood there for a moment, she took the time to pull her hair back into a ponytail. It had been getting shaggier lately- she took that as a good sign.

"And I already tol' you too, so don't make me say it again."

"I'll say it a hundred goddamn times if I want, because it's true." Jack's crooked smile was a warning of the incoming cheese: "We can wander the graveyard, but I already found my treasure right here."

"80 years," she said, shaking her head slowly. "80 years'a this."

She crossed her arms and gave him a look. "Got it out of yer system?"

He seemed to contemplate it as he pulled out his phone, which was low on battery but still had enough juice for him to steal a few more photos.

"Mmm, probably not," he replied cheerfully as he took several photos, the last ending with a kiss to the side of her forehead. At least Jack had taken initiative as far as including himself in the shots this time.

"Any parting words for the dead before we head back?"

Chel rolled her eyes at his photos. Not because she disliked photos or selfies, but because by this time Jack had taken many, many photos. Even Chel reached her limits.

Yet she didn't say anything and still let him have his fun albeit with a drained face and the kind of posture that begged for a nap.

"Mmm. Don't join 'em and don't go where I can't follow." Okay, that reference at least was clever. "And I love you," was mumbled as an after thought.

"Always, babe." She already knew the same went for her. Really it was too bad they couldn't re-enact the tombstone makeout, but he could tell Chel was starting to drag her feet, and his bod was starting to catch up to the fact that he hadn't taken coffee in over twenty-four hours, and not even Owain's super healing could stave that off for long. They probably ought to clear out before the mist burned away and accidentally revealed him to be a vampire again.

"One little bridal carry before we hoof it back home?" he offered, since he had long since crossed over the line of indulging himself without a care.

"Careful-" she told him with a sideways grin, "You keep doin' this and I'll make y'carry me everywhere." Except she never would, because the idea of being a burden (even literally) was repugnant.

Still, she had no defenses for Jack, especially not when he was clearly enjoying himself. Rather than be lifted, she backed up a few steps and gave herself a little running start. If he got his pleasures, she got hers.

He caught her and at least didn't go so far as to do a Disney-style spin. "Guess that's something else me and Owain will have in common," he shot back with a grin of his own as he resettled Chel into a better hold before turning to head back up the slope and towards the castle. "Speaking of. He want me to remind us that we owe him two trees still."

"What, all the hard wood didn't do it for him?"

The noises coming from the forest giant was enough to make him laugh. Then Owain dared to crack a size joke that Jack refused to share.

"Nope," he answered simply instead. "He also wants a promise we won't carve them either."

"Owain I swear-" And here she adjusted herself to sit up a little straighter (which was hard considering her position) so she could give a little salute- "I won't carve anythin' on yer trees."

The real trouble was figuring out 1) where they were going to get trees and 2) where the hell they'd plant them on an island where most things without fear influence died.

"You got any last things t'say 'fore we go back t'the land of a million eyeballs on us?"

< You will always have eyes on you. > While it could have been interpreted as a joke from the beholder, Chel knew full well he meant it in other ways.
