7: You've found a raccoon! You give it a couple berries and it chills on your back for an hour. You even give him a name! You dont find any Fire Spirits. Stopping for a short break, Pyrefly began to eat blackberries from a laden bush. A chirping reached her and she looked down to see a pleading raccoon. Sighing, the mare peeled some berries and let them drop to the ground. The raccoon ate it's fill and climbed up onto her back. Was this raccoon following her?

Of course all good things came to an end. Coriole was so blissful and distracted by having chased down one of the fire spirits that he bumped absently into a tree as he passed.
The resultant jolt shook a young squirrel's precarious balance on a branch, nearly sending her tumbling. As revenge, she hurled the acorn she held at the chestnut-splattered stallion.
Striking him in the eye.
Again.
"Owww..."

1: You hear a small commotion by a stall selling fried hoppitywhoppets. Sure enough, you find a Fire Spirit in the form of a rodent, peering hungrily at the delicious confections on a stick, dusted with powdered fruit essences. Surely, it can't be -this- easy...A yelling shopkeeper reached the mare's ears as she lazily trotted toward the shops in hopes of a break. She was certain it couldn't be the disguised mice, but sure enough a beady-eyed mouse stared upward at lovely little treats. "I swear you are doing this purposely now..." She mumbled. As she took the mouse captive, she realized she had found all of them! 5/5

"What on earth is that foul..."
The word smell was dropped as the mare stood, jaw open with the ghosts of her sentence lingering in her mind. There stood before her probably one of the largest, fluffiest, most outrageous looking skunk she had ever seen!
Clearly the skunk didn't want to see her anymore than she wanted to see it and was quick to aim. Fortunately for Nokomis the skunk was a little tired and fired at a slower pace than her own.
"Phew!" She said, between rapid breaths. That would have been hard to explain to the owl, when she would see him again, he would likely laugh at her if she had been sprayed!

The mare didn't pause, mentally or physically. There was no sense on wasting her time on a sparrow that wasn't even Jack! A girl just couldn't do such a thing, not when she could practically taste the last Fire Spirit!

Face to face! HOOT. Nokomis, not one to be so confrontational, snorted at the sound and face of the owl. The dastardly owl! How dare he infiltrate her walking space once again. She grumped quite a bit about the recent encounter and was quick to end it.

Hopelessness shook the mare deeply. "If that owl had been stalking me to find my final Fire Spirit first.. it would have been a lost cause." She spoke softly in defeat as she began a slow walk onto the ceremonial grounds than to the Shrine of Rotona.
Nokomis than went back to her initial idea and simply began enjoying the area surrounding her. She allowed the gorgeous atmosphere to take over, it was during the immersion moment that she almost missed it. One of the torches, among the many that were lit, flickered quite wildly. "Have the mists ruined my ability to see properly?" Her question went unanswered verbally, but was given a complete answer by another rapid movement of the flame.
Slowly, with purpose, Nokomis approached the flame. Her steady steps carried her to the flame just in time to witness the Fire Spirits eyes close, he had a glimmer of hope that she had seen him. Unfortunately Nokomis' eyes weren't bad, as she had previously thought, instead they were grand enough to catch the movement and there she was, with her final Fire Spirit!

His search had led him to another tree. No doors this time -- that would be very curious -- but there was a large hole in the trunk instead. Ears pricked forward curiously, he investigated.

Coriole's attention was caught by the scent of something burning and he followed his nose to a lone stump with a smoldering leaf sending up a thin curl of smoke nearby.
Only that was no leaf. It was clear that it was a spirit trying desperately to camouflage itself. Coriole chuffed gently. "I don't think that's going to work, little friend."
There was something else on the ground, too. An odd set of tracks...

And the fire spirits didn't learn from the lessons their kin had already been taught. He didn't want to laugh at the poor thing lest his luck turn again, but he couldn't help a tiny snrt through his nose. Spirits.

"...Did that torch just ... blink at me?" Surely not. Torches didn't blink, after all. Flicker, yes, but there wasn't really a breeze, and those had definitely been eyes. Aha!
"I saw you, spirit," Coriole said kindly. "You almost had me fooled, but only almost."
He was ready to set off again when he noticed another of the curious tracks.
