Beauty is only skin deep! Mare Personality: Artemis is, as her name suggests, a warrior and huntress. She is a bit arrogant, but protective and loyal, especially of other females. She can be sweet when it suits her, but manipulative when it serves her purposes as well. Stallion Personality: Apollo is a self-appointed peace-bringer, but his methods can sometimes be a little misguided. Most times, he has the best of intentions, but trusts too much in his own judgement above common morals. Despite this, he would consider himself a protector of those who cannot protect themselves, but would more than likely attempt to manipulate a situation to his own advantage. Beauty is only skin deep! Mare Personality: As brutal as she is beautiful, Lorelei was raised to be a warrior - to get the job done, to fight until she's won. Her herd was the opposite of a peaceful people, and they clashed with almost every one of their neighbors. Once a season, though, they would stop their quarrels to have a day of rest and laughter, all gathering around the watering hole that served each of their territories. On one of those days of peace, when Lorelei's people were the most vulnerable, they were attacked by a force of their nightmares: the great Kalona herd, leaving devastation in its wake as it set out to purify the Kawani Lands. Her people killed, injured, or utterly destroyed, Lorelei was alone among the unhurt, the only one of her small tribe to survive. Her heart is hardened against loss now, but also to love, as she sets out to destroy those who destroyed her. She is broken to her very core, and all she feels is revenge. Stallion Personality: Herod prizes himself on his ability to fight a clean fight, but his idea of clean is probably not your idea of clean. His definition is landing blows without being hit - and he keeps himself out of danger with tactics both absurd and practical. In order to get away from an attacker, he shrinks. Oh man, there was this one time... Prompt reply: Quentyn was unusually silent as he took in the preparation that would see him leave the family for a week's journey. The stallion was unsure as to why he had to observe this ritual. He had trained hard for many years and felt that he was already ready to become a warrior. All this pomp and circumstance was hardly necessary. Perhaps it was because Quentyn was hiding a secret from everyone. To most in the family the stallion had been seen as fearless, powerful and strong. Quen was none of these things away from the family. The stallion balked at shadows when by himself and he knew that if he were to undertake this coming-of-age trial that he'd be a goner in two seconds flat come the first night away from home.
Quentyn snorted unhappily before giving his mane a shake. There was no one who understood the true reason behind the butterflies in his stomach. And perhaps no one would ever know either. Prize Preference: Stallion, Mare

Oh man, there was this one time... Prompt reply: Lorelei was awake.
She had been awake all night, waiting for dawn to come, keeping a silent vigil that only she observed - every other soon-to-be adult was resting up for the morning to come, but not her. No, Lorelei was awake, and she was waiting - waiting to grow up, waiting to be old enough to hold her own in a fight she could have the privilege to initiate. Every moment she was awake brought her another moment closer to victory, to proving her worth as a member of the herd - and she wanted it. She wanted to win, to beat out her opponents, and to survive the week on her own.
When the sun rose, turning the clouds golden and blushing on the edge of the sky, it was with a stillness and an awe that Lorelei rose. I am ready, she thought. I am ready, and the sun will bear witness to my first victory. Adjusting her cloak, she strode to the gathering place, where she would be ranked by her prowess before being sent out. Her hooves were sure, her legs steady.
Battle called, and her instincts were awake.
