"That's right, we got this." Giving Vivi a pat on the head, the pair took on the next hurdle with a good rhythm. He was starting to understand some of the basics of what had worked previously and what had failed. It wasn't completely intuitive to him but some of his instincts worked while others would have to be relearned. He was not quite used to the horse smell that lingered over the place but in time he would grow to deal with it.

"It's come to this! Toby!" Jeong-jae could taste victory now, he was so sure of it. Hasty to beat Larisa and Alec over the line, he sped up and didn't realize he was messing up the pace. The timing was rushed and instead of a beautiful clean sweep over the hurdle it went down and everything went to pieces in his head. B-but how? He was going to be the horse prodigy! Stunned at his loss, Jeong-jae could only watch as Larisa and Alec approached the hurdle.
"Dammit!" Desperate to get at least second or third place, he bumped Toby with his foot to go back around to try again.

He was laughing harder than he'd recalled in some time..the amount of belly chuckles and burst of giggle fitted laughter that came from the fifteen-year-old. As he went to make the jump, he literally fell off the horse when he shoulder checked the hurdle. Falling to the ground, Alec burst out in even more laughter groaning in pain which resulted in him all but literally howling with his wheezed laughter. "Emperor what? Oh..oh my Walls no I don't think so." Alec was practically flailing by this point. His laps was complete and the race was over. He'd embarrassed himself terribly and all he could do was laugh at his misfortune. Alec had enjoyed the process, it truly had been fun. But the comical effect of his sailing off his horse after proudly boasting

"What the-" After Jeong-jae had led his horse back around, he saw that Larisa had already won the race. In the chaos of it all, he witnessed Alec's fall from grace and laughed at how ridiculous it all was. Had he been too eager and excited to try and win too? How could a person just fall off their horse like that?! Cracking up at the scene, Toby took over the last leap and cleared Alec's body with ease. Coming in second was not the goal he'd had in mind but at least he'd finished the race and avoided any bruises! Dismounting, he climbed off and walked over to offer a hand to help Alec to his feet.
"Love the passion, man." He laughed. It was great to see someone give it their all, even if they landed on their a** in the end. His opinion of Alec improved, finding the guy funny and added to the party list.
"Alright Hwan, bring it home! Then let's all go get a drink." The twin waved to the last approaching horse. Ervette had told them they needed to complete two laps or the course and then they'd be done. She looked to have her hands full with the other trainees so she probably wouldn't care if they headed off to the mess hall.

Hah! He was getting so close to the end now, he could taste victory on the back of his tongue. Well, at least, he was going to find a snack or something once this was over to celebrate surviving it. As he took the eight hurdle head on, he felt a sense of pride as he managed to clear it. Phew, no more of those embarrassing failures this time. Now Red would have to-
A loud crash sounded and he glanced to see Alec plummet from his horse, face red from laughter and embarrassment alike, rolling side to side on the ground gasping for air. Now that was just too ******** hilarious and the boy on the ground had a contagious laugh that Hwan couldn't help but join in on.
"You crazy moron- Haha, what the hell, you just- Bam!" His hands gripped onto the saddle to keep from suffering a similar fate to Alec's. Jeong hadn't made the final hurdle the first time either but at least he hadn't fallen off the horse! It was hard to form a complete sentence inbetween all the giggles and each time he looked at the people in the race, it set him off on again. It looked like Jeong had recovered and finished but now it was his turn!

Lillian wasn't sure what to do with herself. She was forced to be around people again, but this time there were horses. She had not the slightest clue on how to actually ride a horse, but she kept telling herself it would be a worthwhile experience. It would actually be something fun for once. Or at least she dangwell hoped. She quietly listened to their instructor, then slowly made her way to the horses. She only hoped she found one forgiving enough for a first time rider. She slowly reached out her right hand to rub against the horses mane, careful in case it was a biter. It seemed calm, even social. Lillian let out a sigh of relief. She turned back to the instructor. She would have to ask for help getting seated. And walking. And everything. She sighed, feeling helpless. "Miss.. I. Well. If you have the time, could you give some tips on seating and walking commands?"

Preacher gingerly steered the horse to the first hurdle. And... it stopped. Refused to move. It just stood there. And then, Galvani whinnied and turned around. Preacher slid her hand over her face. She didn't hate horses; she didn't! She just hated this horse, specifically. -2 modifier failure

Not only did the damnable horse refuse to jump the hurdle, it bent it's long neck and knocked it over. Preacher grumbled angrily and gracefully slid off the beast's back. As she re-set the hurdle, she felt a small whuffle of breath at her elbow and whirled. clack. Galvani's teeth closed on air. She thumped him in the shoulder and clambered back on. -2 modifier failure

Perhaps Galvani understood human speech, or perhaps he understood the threatening tone that lay under every word Preacher spoke in his ear. And if Preacher knew how to do one thing, she knew how to threaten. Galvani's ears flattened, he snorted, tried to twiast and bite her, but finally he heaved his stupid carcass over the hurdle. -2 modifier SUCCESS #1

Alister approached his horse slowly, watching as it tossed it's mane. Oh, but he had gotten a spirited one! "Comet... a fitting name! Let us ride happily together, I hope." With a grunt, Alister heaved his long body onto the horse. He'd ridden horse before, of course, although he generally preferred running. His father had quite an eye for horseflesh. -1 modifier | +1 modifier (previous exp)

It took a moment to process the scene as Larisa turned back to see how the others had fared. Alec was lying on the ground, all but shaking with the force of his laughter while his horse wandered off. Jeong-jae came back around, then, jumping both the hurdle and the boy flailing around beneath it, and Larisa caught her breath just in time to burst into laughter of her own. Sliding off he saddle, she patted Scout's side and then made her way over to them, still giggling. She'd been all ready to boast that she'd won, but this was just so funny she didn't even think of it. "I can't believe you fell off! What happened?"
Glancing from Alec to Hwan-jae's quickly approaching horse, she lifted a hand to wave him on. "Come on, you can do it!" Maybe he'd be as lucky as she was and get it in one go. Or maybe he'd fall off too? Cracking up all over again, she waited to see.

"Hey, Ervette! Watch me!" He had a good feeling about this one. They'd had some rough patches but overall, Hwan felt he was getting better at this. The others had all completed their courses pretty much and now it was all riding on him. It was time for their hero to shine, the exciting climax to the story! He glanced at the green haired instructor with a smirk, hoping he'd catch her eye because well... she was cute, even if she was older than him. The forbidden fruit and all that, right?
Spurring Vivi forward, he kept his eyes locked on Ervette and mustered up a confident but charismatic smirk as the horse plowed forward straight into the hurdle. It went down with a loud crash and he yelped and clung to the reins in horror! Vivi trotted away in confusion and fear and it took a minute to calm the girl down and he looked at the ground in embarrassment.
... did smashing through it count as a pass?

Ervette gazed at the young girl moving over to her as she gently pet the horse and asked her for polite assistance. "Course sweet heart. Lets start by having you step up into the stirrups, come on now." She motioned for the girl to take hold of the reigns. "Now, once you got hold of those, plant your left foot here, and swing your right leg over. Once you do slowly sink into your saddle." She pointed, having her mount from the ground. It was with some amount of consideration that she appraised her offering her an encouraging smile. Even if she didn't have my experience, the woman could coax her beyond the initial demonstration it didn't bother her in the least. After that was settled the woman gripped the reigns walking the girl and the horse out of the stalls so she was free to walk. "You'll need to hold the reigns, and squeeze with your thighs, maybe give a little click. Start with walking, and get a feel for that before you go jumping then. When you wanna halt, do a whoa. You turn with the way you pull your reigns." The green haired woman adjusted the stirrups for the other girl giving her a thumbs up to give it a go. ....She was about to give more input..encourage the girl more but by the Walls what was happening?! First the red head who had mostly good form was down on the ground, and now one CRASHING through a hurdle. "Oh..wow um." Ervette didn't know what to say. The woman was laughing suddenly holding her sides. Her trainee class seemed to have gotten out of hand slightly and the woman was beside herself with wonder. "Not...exactly right! But good spirit." Finally she managed to say intelligently shaking her head. Hwan clearly was too busy laughing like several others. The woman looked apologetically at the trainee she'd been instructing unable to contain herself given the levels of silliness. "You are always welcomed to practice of none class days, come see me later if that's the case." She directed to the large group of twenty at this. Despite all her efforts Lillian was nervous as all heck. She listened intently to her trainer, and managed to seat herself on the horse, learn a command or two, and watch the other students cause chaos on the sidelines. With a deep breathe she tried to block it all out. She could do this. Holding the reigns tight enough to cause marks on her palms, she gave the ok for her horse to start walking. After a shaky pass or two, she gazed over to the hurdles. If she was going to go, she might as well just go. Motioning her horse towards the hurdles, she picked up speed a little. Would she make the first one? Nope, she hit the hurdle, knocking it over.

Lillian knew she wasn't going to magically be an amazing horse rider, but deep down she was a little disappointed she missed the first hurdle. Awkwardly, she managed to eventually steer her horse to the second hurdle for a new attempt... managing to somehow, miraculously, jump the second hurdle.
