Horrified at the words she least wanted to hear in one of the voices she loved the most, Cami turned her head. "Mimsy no!"

Well. All that just happened, and Milo just sort of stared. Okay then. That was weird, odd and a little disturbing.
And since he was a little attached to Noemi at the moment, like in the literal sense, he followed along as Jack tugged her and Oliver - oh hey, Oliver! - towards the happenings. Others had apparently done a good sweep of the dead headless body, poking about for clues and possible happenings. The Sun just listened and watched as they did as they did, a bit useless for now, but eh.
Someone - Gale? That seemed to be his name, he had run a mission once - suggested going to the lighthouse. There might have been other possibilities, but he looked to his current little group to see what they wanted to do. "Adventure, or stay here?"

Hanna stood for a second, staring strangely at her phone. She turned it toward the group. "Sahara?" she repeated. "Like... the desert?" Before she could continue, another Mist Hunter -- this one had a head -- ran past, cursing with weapon in hand.
Good sense said to go back to her room and stay safe. But having "good sense" would have kept Hanna from ever agreeing to dive into Deus in the first place. She could feel excite vibrating in her fingertips. Mysteries, battle, discovery -- all of it was like a drug to her and her head was swimming.
In a flash, Hanna pulled her totems from her ears, summoning a massive hooked twin blade. Gale and Stormy were about to go, it seemed, and Hannar refused to be left behind, not again. She moved toward Cami and grabbed the other girl's wrist. "Come on, remember when you kicked my a** on this field fresh from the pod? Let's go see what else your bow can do," she said, grinning.
Why was she so excited? Probably a lack of experience.
Giving Cami a good tug and more or less dragging her alongside, Hanna sprinted off toward THE UNKNOWN... also known as the lighthouse.
THE LIGHTHOUSE
The joy in Hanna halted at the sight of a portal, even as her heart picked up speed from her run. She peered around, waiting for someone else to arrive -- aside from her hunter-in-tow Cami. She'd never been a girl to say no to an open door -- but she also didn't want to walk through it alone.
"A portal," she said, turning to face Cami. "Is it going to take us to the desert? The coordinates were for Sahara."

[ Lighthouse ]
It was a good excuse as any to run away, and Shiloh, somehow summoning Haruko in the process, sprinted after the Mist hunter and away from the situation at hand, a situation that was entirely grim on so many levels.
There was no one at the lighthouse when he reached it, however, no bodies, no sentries, no Mark. Shiloh stared for a moment, hesitating, the lighthouse portal was never a good sign, never but it was the only place the Mist hunter could have disappeared to, Shiloh knowing from first-hand experience how difficult it was to hide anywhere around the location.
He stepped towards the portal, as close as he dared, wondering if he could just stick his head in and see what was on the other side.
No such luck, he was sure, and he drew a deep breath. He wasn't supposed to play hero. He wasn't a hero.
But that had never stopped him before.
He glanced at the girl that was already there, not recognizing her.
"It's probably not good on the other side," he warned, holding his weapon tightly in his hands. "Best to be prepared, mentally and with your weapon if you're going to join me."
He smiled at her, warmly, and reached out to pat her arm.
Pey gave Cami a comforting pat on the shoulder as she stood back up and headed over to Gale and Hanna, peering at the screens as wells.
The Sahara.
Those too little words managed to set the dainty hunter's blood to ice in her veins, and she was right there with Gale and Stormy as they headed for the portal.
It wasn't the place itself that filled the Sun with dread. She hadn't been there, she had never seen the horrors that lurked in the dessert. No, she was scared for a different reason. Taym was in the Sahara.
She slowed down only enough to locate Noah, and she called to him as she ran. "Heading to the lighthouse!" Then she was off, sprinting to catch back up to the others.

Heading to Lighthouse
Sahara.
Her tanned skin lost a few shades at one word. She would have remained frozen in place until it was quiet again had the situation not involved her Mist division. Another dead. Another person she never got to fully meet. And now the desert was going to swallow them whole again with bugs--
"Like the desert," she answered Hannah in a small voice.
But if Gale, who had his own horrors about the place, was willing to go, she'd have to force herself as well. Stormy knew she wouldn't forgive herself otherwise. For Lance. For Aria. For Nevada. For . . . her cousin, even, though the thought was brief.
She just had to flip on a little auxiliary auto-pilot, that's all.
With an equally shaky hand she grasped Gale's and established a firm grip, giving him a little nod. She'd hold for the mission, whatever her issues were, just as she always had. Moving them from a walk to a hasty run after the Mist hunter, she nearly stumbled over herself in the process to keep up.
She didn't stop, only slowing enough to grab bandages before running straight through the portal without a second glance back.

She had taken his hand and that was all he cared about.
Gale gripped Stormy's fingers as tight as possible, and went straight through the portal with her.

Goin' to the lighthouse
Nora huh? Nice name. He gave her a nod, glancing around for more clues. Then a very pissed off and grumbling hunter ran past them with their weapon summoned. Something clearly was going down and it was big. He followed the group as they raced after the other hunter.
[[ You know where you're going? ]] His weapon asked him softly as he ran.
Vaguely? I did look at a map earlier. He felt her sigh and as though she was shaking her head.
[[ I mean for the mission. ]] Bradley shook his head, turning a corner and coming up to the lighthouse.
No but I'm sure it's fine. I'll survive this, geez Yza have faith. The dragon said nothing in reply as he came to a stop in front of the portal. He heard the words Sahara and moved out of the way as people barrelled past him, Nora included. Well then. Time to go.
Without a second though, Bradley charged through the portal with everyone else.

THE LIGHTHOUSE
Camille allowed herself to be dragged along by Hanna's enthusiasm for two reasons:
1) Hanna seemed to be a great deal more knowledgeable and competent than any of her other trainee friends thus far. 2) Mimsy was very likely serious about her intent to have the trainees peel that poor body and she did not want to be present for that.
Facing a portal that would potentially lead her into the Sahara desert or even the midst of Halloween itself was preferable to a grisly spectacle that would have made that evil clown in the SAW movies cackle with proud, fatherly delight. Touching the arrow at her neck had the redhead drawing the bow Hanna had praised her use of, Kidana all but singing at the chance to be used, really used. This was what she was for, after all!
< It should not matter where that portal takes you, Camille. Just keep a grip on your wits and remember what that nice Peyton said. It's upsetting but you'll get used to it. Be strong. > Kidana tried to have faith in her newbie trainee. She was headstrong but that could be useful, if carefully molded and contained. She was going to do her best!
As she always did.
Plucking the string of her bow nervously the historian shrugged a bit. "Come on, we should go through together." Holding out her hand she indicated that they should race into the unknown portal together.

[ The Lighthouse ]
Hanna didn't even know the name of the boy who stood beside her, weapon in hand, and spared her a few words in preparation for battle. When was the last time she had felt this? She knew the answer: three goddamn years. "I'm with you," she called after him, feeling a renewed energy at being a part of something.
The girl from before (Stormy) appeared next, confirming what Hanna suspected. Wait, they were going to the desert? Hanna didn't feel appropriately dressed, but the dire tension in the air set her on edge. She tightened her grip on the Lady. What was so bad in the desert?
Golden eyes flashed to Cami. "Okay, I'll see you on the other side?" she said, a twinkle of something like fear and excitement in her eyes.
It's you and me again, girly, Adelphe whispered. No sense in delaying.
With a sharp nod, Hanna checked the pockets of her coat quickly, hoping to find something as useful as the bandages she had seen someone else pick up. Alas, she had a pack of gum, a small post-it sized clump of paper, and a pen. Aside from that, she just had the snacks that the text message had warned her to bring: a granola bar, no water.
She probably should have gone to get more. Instead, Hanna chased after the other disappearing hunters, letting the urgency crash over her like a wave and once again placing her trust in the discovery of the unknown and ignoring the warning bells in her mind.
Falling into line beside Cami, Hanna took off at a run too and disappeared through the portal.

Lighthouse Time
"Oh, good!" she told Evan. "Thought I'd have to promise them all to pound 'em with a hammer to have a chance." It wasn't the correct humor for the situation, but it was clear Nora was more at ease with dead bodies than some.
Someone was asking her what she held, which . . . huh. "Good question. Guess we'll have to find out later," she replied, as it seemed the lighthouse was their new location to be. "Well, 'gents, I do hope you're up for some--someone say the desert? Brilliant--up for some hot early summer fun in the sun and sand," she told the boys. "Or stay behind, doesn't matter. Pie's still going after this."
Bradley and Shiloh had the right idea, chraging right on ahead. Good boys. With an adjustment to her armor, Nora jogged after the rest to the lighthouse, happy to toss herself into the portal before someone could try to do something entertaining like remind her what a horrible life hunters led.

Noemi visibly paled as the body just dropped from the sky...and for once she clung BACK to Milo.
"A body..." she started to cross herself when Jack was dragging them towards it. "No...No Jack no. We should not..." She murmured and still held on to Milo because she'd rather hold on to him, even if improper then to go near a headless life form.
Oh Saint Marie, bless the young spirit that was killed so...
And then they were being ushered to the lighthouse and Noemi's eyes fell on Milo's. Obviously she was going to rely on the sun rather then Jack to tell her NOT TO GO MILO, TELL HER NOT TO GO.
He got to the lighthouse just in time to see a familiar pink and blue haired hunter dart through the portal, and his heart seemed to stop in his chest, Ian reaching out towards him in vain. He didn't know why he was doing it - it wasn't like he could stop him, and it wasn't like he even know what to say to him anymore -
- but then Shiloh was gone, and Ian couldn't be left behind, not now, not even when he had been the one to break Shiloh's heart.
If something happened to him and he wasn't there -
"I know what you're thinking," said Alistaire, "And Ian, don't - "
But Ian had already started running, and he knew by the pounding of the footsteps behind him that his brother wasn't going to let him go on his own, in spite of Alistaire's reservations about everything, and without a word to anyone else, Ian ran straight for the portal and through it, Alistaire just behind him.

"Hmm."
Ian's gaze was closed off, but it wasn't hard to derive the truth, especially if he put the glimpse he had caught of the trio in the lab next to his guesses. Ah well. Perhaps he needed to be swayed with beer again, as most folk seemed to enjoy.
Jack made another "hmm" noise and slid his arms off the pair, instead running a hand through his hair as he pondered. "Looks like they picked the corpse clean," he said with a shrug. "Not entirely sure if this is considered a mission, but it would be most enlightening if we attended. Should you choose to stay with me, I can offer additional protection," he offered briskly, already moving towards the lighthouse. "At least, on the condition that we all have a little chat afterwards?"

Evan watched, bemused, as the Mist hunter went running by. His danger/action/funtimes senses started tingling as someone mentioned the Sahara, and he took off through the portal with the others.
