Kerrigan joined up with two of their newer members, Christian and Charlie. They seemed like a fun pair, the redhead responding a little tongue in cheek to the latter's questioning of whether she was going to be slowing them down, while reaching out to take the extended handshake from the wolf among them. He confirmed that reputations did indeed precede them, the redhead's shoulders rising and falling at the notion that not all reputations were good.

"The Omegas as a pretty lively bunch, I'll give you that. Overall, though, it's a good group. Maybe don't believe everything you hear." Spinning the question back around on him, the redhead caught sight of Narcissa looking at their group, noting her unspoken approval. She offered her best friend a small smile, acknowledging that she was on top of her duties - the girls hadn't been spending as much time together as they normally would, but that didn't change the dynamic of their relationship one bit. Kerrigan would always put the good of the team over her personal life - she knew the blonde knew that.

Christian seemed to lament that fact that he wouldn't be able to give her a demonstration of his power, considering the goal of mid mission was to fit in and leave their powers at home, so to speak. Charlie also assured her that they wouldn't be the ones to hold her back if the situation came to it, one eyebrow quirking in slight curiosity as to the "tricks" they might have up their sleeves. She knew the basics of their powers, given her access to their files and the fact that she didn't like to be uninformed when it came to her teammates. Besides, just looking at the two of them was enough to convince her that at the very least they were in good enough shape to be able to hold their own, even for a short amount of time.

The portal to their mission opened, Kerrigan turning in a swirl of red hair as Roland came up to her and planted a sweet kiss on her cheek. She grinned at him as he wished her good luck, not missing the fact that he totally sized up her companions. "Right back at ya," she responded in her own playful tone, raising her eyebrows ever so slightly as if questioning whether he was really concerned with her choice of partners or not.

Charlie asked if it was her boyfriend, to which she released a breathy laugh, "What was your first clue," she responded coyly, giving a soft shrug as the boy proceeded along the line of questioning as to why the lovers were splitting on the mission. "I don't need him to follow me around like a giant puppy dog. Just like I'm sure he doesn't want me hanging off him all the time like some stupid bimbo. Not to mention, I'm second in command around here - it's expected of me to check out some of the new recruits on their first mission and make sure they're cut out for this. He knows that." At least she hoped he did - was she so bad at dating that she didn't realize that she should have said something like that to him? Surely he had been around enough, understood her role enough, that he knew everything was fine.

Turning her thoughts to the mission ahead of them, she moved towards the portal that had been opened so they could get started. Emerging into Central Park, they received a few final instructions from their blonde leader, everyone dispersing to take care of their own tasks. As instructed, the redhead turned off her comm device, passing glances between her companions as they started trying to come up with the perfect cover. Christian was the first to start throwing out some ideas, suggesting that they take advantage of their sporty demeanors to check out sportswear stores, or alternatively, a threesome. Even for not knowing him very well, she wasn't surprised at the alternative suggestion - they were boys, after all. At least it really seemed like he was joking around.

Charlie was quick to jump in with his support for the gym rat angle, an amused smile creeping across her features, "I agree, let focus on sportswear. As much as I love the idea of dragging you two through a Victoria's Secret, no one would believe me looking for frilly underwear to satisfy you two newbies." They were drawing near the entrance at this point, her joking tone evident. In the end, it was the safer play. She wasn't good at being an actual girlfriend to just one person, and certainly wouldn't know how to act in some sort of three-way relationship.

Taking a right after they passed through the automatic doors, green eyes casually took note of faces she recognized going off in different directions. She spotted a directory, making her way over to it and scanning the list of stores that they might check out. "Well, we could start at the finish line, then head up to the d**k's? I'm in the market for some new running shoes." She looked between her companions to see if they had any thoughts on the plan - between the two stores they could cover a lot of ground, and eventually heading up to the second floor would give them a better view.

Luke laughed slightly as he glanced towards Gracie and Daylia. ”Maybe we aren’t damaged goods... Just a little off the reservation.” He couldn’t be sure really, since he didn’t know many of his new peers very well. It had him a little worried, considering he was the new kid on the block… But it couldn’t be all bad--So long as he took present company into account.

“Either way...“, his eyes flickered towards Gracie, giving her the most discreet and wholesome once over he could muster. If it was anything but polite, it was all her fault. She shouldn’t be so gorgeous, and he wouldn’t have these issues. “Some of us are definitely undamaged.”

Tearing his gaze away from the dark haired Omega he quickly focused on Daylia, determined to chase her conversation so he could stop putting his foot in his mouth. “Yeah... I’m going to go out on a limb and say we all have a colorful black story--I mean backstory.”

Stupid pretty women, ruining his train of thought.

His gaze once again landed on his feet as he tried to shove his hands deeper into his pockets. The talk of their ‘damaged’ history made him feel a little sad. It was an unwelcome emotion, and more than enough to dash away his embarrassment. He let the Omega girls talk over his head for a moment, only speaking out when they decided to spill the beans on his teammates…. Were they serious?

His eye began to twitch as the information piled up and he couldn’t help but blurt out his two cents. “God--It’s high school all over again.”, the plant manipulator’s eyes rolled heavily at the thought, completely imagining the worst. If his team leader turned out to be a grown up teeny bopper--He was out. That was it. “F” this, darky out.

On the controversial topic of chocolate people, regarding the other brother on the Alpha’s….”Do either of you really not know his name? Damn. That’s messed up.”, he shook his head with mock disdain as he tapped his foot on the floor. Though he really couldn’t imagine they knew many of the albino Alpha’s names either, come to think of it.

The conversation moved from broken people, to colored folks, to something he didn’t want to acknowledge because it had to do with someone else’s junk, and then finally to the freaky Red Queen. He felt a shiver run down his spine. Why was he a little afraid of some uppity rich girl that he’d barely laid eyes on? “If at all possible I’d rather not see or speak to your boss-- Ever.”

Daylia, ever informative, went on to explain that Narcissa could melt someone’s skin of and his jaw dropped a little. “She can….Melt your skin? Off?”

It wasn’t exactly the fact that she could that bothered him, it was the cavalier way that it was tossed on the table for discussion. “For real? The -hell- is she?” ‘Mutant my a**.’

“Scratch that--I don’t want to know.”

He’d never understood the phrase “Out of Sight--Out of Mind” so well before now.

Luke got a little lost when they started talking about virgins and people dying. Honestly, the girls were easy enough on the eyes that it didn’t really matter what they were saying anyway. Just x-nay on the word ‘murder’. Black guys always got blamed for that s**t first.

The plant manipulator raised an eyebrow when Daylia stated that food poisoning wasn’t that bad. His hand rose and he rubbed his bald head for a moment, making a disbelieving face. “Whatever you say…”

“Just pray they have nice bathrooms here.”

Taka taka taka taka time skip to the Kitchen….

After the two men joined the kitchen, he felt like he was trapped in some kind of sitcom devised for bored housewives. ‘Two men, three foxes, and a monkey.’ The interesting part was that only one of them could actually be considered an animal. From there on out he pretty much ignored the rest of the room and focused on cooking. It was one of the few things he enjoyed doing that didn’t cost a boatload of cash and effort. Every so often he tossed out a one liner, trying not to seem like an anti social p***k.

“It would just be way too easy if we understood you.”, he called towards Daylia, picking up on pieces of dialogue at random. He gave the ginger a smile before returning to the stove--This was a contest after all. As cute as Lynette was, there was no way he was going to lose.

He was rather happy with the way his dishes were shaping up--But he had already resigned himself not to worry about any negative feedback. Opinions were like assholes...Everybody had one, but few people actually wanted to see them. He couldn’t complain...Life in an underground mouse trap could be way worse--But here he was, cooking and socializing. Sidenote: With downright gorgeous snow bunnies no less.

Luke’s movements while cooking were surprisingly precise and lightning fast--Especially for someone of his stature. He definitely seemed to have paid attention in LeBeau’s cooking courses, because he seemed able to push one dish out after the other. He started dessert before the main course was finished, and began melting chocolate down as he looked around for a mixer. The industrial kitchen seemed to have everything, it was just a matter of finding it, and managing not to run Lynn over in the process.

Daylia seemed to enjoy her main course and he snickered as he fished out a mixing bowl from a high shelf. “It was just a lucky guess as to how you like your….Meat.”

There was definite innuendo to be found one the end of that statement, but he did his best to keep moving--Only seeming to trip up when he heard Gracie compliment what she’d sampled.

“I’ll have to pass on the personal cook thing--Though I appreciate the offer to be at your beck and call. It really would be a change of pace...I’d be doing my ancestors proud by getting paid for working for a nice white lady, instead of stealing televisions on the sly.”, Luke put on a bit of an overdone southern drawl as he spoke, turning to back towards the Omega in question, to nod his head--Clearly teasing her. “Ma’am.”

After Lynn announced that she would need more time and brought a pan over her face, Luke couldn’t help but bust out laughing. “If you need more time, take it. It’s all about the taste…. “

“And not killing our new friends with undercooked chicken.”

Luke had a sudden flashback to watching Gordon Ramsay on a cooking show yell:’This chicken is raw--You’re going to kill someone!’ and kept on chuckling. The man was an asshat, but hilarious in that British dickhead kind of way.

Brit's were dicks, end of discussion.

Hearing Daylia talk about a wedgie he couldn’t really keep from grinning, even as Gracie kept it going. “Back to that whole classy thing… I might need to amend that statement.”

The bald man smiled when Lynn asked if she could try one of the sandwiches he’d thrown together and he tossed a towel over his shoulder as he grabbed a plate to the cheerful one. “Of course you can, help yourself…”

From there on he began setting up the batter for a chocolate cake, whipping out some cream and powdered sugar for icing. “We’ll finish the competition--It’s too fun not to. We can make it a three parter...Try again tomorrow?”

He knew that the higher ups were calling for uniform fittings, but he really felt the need to get this cake in and out of the oven. Maybe if he brought Dr. McCoy a piece, he’d let them slide in a little late.

Taka taka taka taka time skip to the War Room….

Upon encountering Alexandra he found that she seemed to be level headed--Which was a relief. Especially when taking in to account what he had heard about some of the Alpha’s. He was beyond thankful that she seemed like she was going to be easy to work with.

With a smile he nodded to the blonde haired girl, agreeing to call her by the requested nickname as they shook hands. “As you wish, Alex… It’s nice to meet you as well.“

He chuckled when she responded about the ‘heavy Omega stuff’ and shook his head. “Oh no...Nothing like that. I just meant that they’re getting ready for a mission too. Not all of them are bat s**t crazy once you get to know them.”

Oddly enough, the two he’d come into contact with were pretty nice. It seemed a foreign notion to everyone. A nice Omega.

Alex stated that she didn’t need anything and he nodded his head as he looked over the map, trying to pick out the best vantage points. “Very good, no big.”

He spent as much time scanning the map as he could--Making mental note of the positions Alex had pointed out in correlation with his own preferences. She seemed to have a pretty good eye, as all the points seemed kosher.

”Good picks.” , Luke complimented off handedly, pointing towards what looked like foliage. Perhaps even a tree line. “With the cover of trees our job should be fairly simple. This would be a ideal place given the height of the trees--But we can decide for sure once we see the spots up close. We might have to do some thinking on our feet, but we’ll manage.”

“How does that sound?”, he asked her, hoping to get her opinion. She’d been with this team longer than he had. Even if she had the slightest bit of experience over him, he wanted to capitalize on it.

He waited a little while before noting that the higher ups seemed to be getting ready to get the show on the road. “We should pony up and go wait by the portal soon...We’ll need a head start on some of the others to get into place.”

From there he began to double check his gear, before tossing Alex a reassuring smile. This would be a cinch. Nodding towards the portal he began to meander over, hoping his new partner in crime would follow. They would have to be ghosts--Right on each others heels the entire time. One of the most important things that Alex would have to do would likely be to keep an eye on their perimeter when he was looking down the scope.

His ability would naturally provide them some kind of assistance, but there was nothing like a pair of eyes keeping watch. His plants couldn’t always tell friend from foe until the other party made their move. “You ready?”

Luke hoped Alex was, as he definitely planned to prove his worth. He was still a little concerned by the Alpha leader because she seemed so squishy… But he would follow orders, and hopefully they’d be back before dinner time.

"It's always a pleasure to know that some ladies still appreciate something as simple as a slow-talking man.” He said in regards to her smile. She'd graciously accepted his offer to accompany him on their mission but seemed to want more information about his origins. With his life printed vividly in magazines, he had no reason not to be an open book – even if they were far from the glitz and glam in Canada. “Yes ma'am, born and raised on a horse ranch in the Lonestar state.” As peeved as he remained with his parents, his home left many things to be proud of... his admiration for the horses he'd left behind threaded his tone. “I guess we all say things a little differently, but the Yanks rope us all in one cluster.” He joked, before fiddling with the device on his wrist. “But I'll be honest with you... I miss peach tea. My nanny always brewed the best on the western side of the Mississippi river.” He whistled as he recalled the smooth taste, his mouth watering just from the thought of it.

Deciding it was time for him to don his disguise, he glanced at his partner. “I'll ask your forgiveness now as we're going out in public, I cannot afford to be recognized, so the professors have provided me with an image inducer for this assignment, and I don't know exactly what I'll look like when I press this button.” Just as he finished his statement, the hologram flickered for a moment before instantly transforming him into someone else. He appeared to be roughly the same height, but his hair was darker, the stubble he'd awakened to gone, leaving his less chiseled jawline bare. His eyes were a dark shade of brown, with fractals of green surrounding his irises. Glancing downward at the clothes – he found them acceptable before grinning. “Please tell me you'll still be seen in public with me.” He joked, hoping that Charlotte wouldn't prove to be superficial should the inducer make him as hideous as the hunchback of Notre Dame was said to be.

Doing a quick check of the room, and who Narcissa assigned where... his lips became a flat line when he saw that she'd paired Roland and Leion together. They appeared to be fine with it, as if the brawl a month back had never taken place. “I don't think leaving them unsupervised is the wisest decision.” He whispered to his partner, making sure that their leader wouldn't overhear him second-guessing her orders. “They'll probably be fine, but I'd rather make sure, would you not?” He asked his fiery companion. “That is, if you can handle being surrounded by men for the day.” His tone indicated the barest amount of teasing, because he highly doubted she ever had a problem. With her saccharine tones, rare hair and a chest that didn't stop... Blake guessed she'd spent a fair amount of time fending off fawning men who were into those exact traits. A few teammates wouldn't be a problem.

Offering her his arm, he led her over to the pair and flashed a smile, wondering how different it must have looked. Hopefully his teeth weren't yellow or rotting. “Greetings, gents. Would you all be willing to keep us company on this venture? Four sets of eyes have to be better than our two.

* * *

When they arrived, Narcissa stopped them to issue one more order. With the press of a button, he set a timer on his watch for an hour and fifty minutes, just to make sure they'd not be late. The last thing he wanted was for his team mates to be scorched for keeping company with him should they be tardy. And given how petty their leader appeared to be, he wouldn't put it past her to punish them for doing so.

Well, the good news is... the lady gets to go shopping for the first time in what I'd guess is too long if she's like many other women I know. It'll serve as a good ruse as we try and find our targets.” The cowboy stated, pulling out a random pre-loaded card from his wallet. When he stayed with the X-men, he kept his name off of any official statements that might lead the wrong people to them. “You may have this one. Just don't try to break my bank.” With a blithe wink in her direction, he couldn't help but laugh. She'd really have to try to do that. “If either of you see something you'd like or something you need and it won't be cumbersome to carry should we have to run, feel free.

They entered the mall through the Macy's, and Blake glanced around, noting the escalators. Most of the mall wouldn't have a second floor. “Bedclothes will be upstairs if we wanted to look at that first. Winter's supposed to be grizzly this year, and I could use another comforter.” He said, making an excuse for them to head there in case someone had been trying to listen.

If he was nervous, it didn't show when she practically danced into his room. Instead, he appeared to be cavalier, capricious even. “Good.” She said when he confirmed that he was ready, and then instructed him that they needed to move, lest they be tardy to his first team mission in a long time. “I'm pretty sure your lack of dedication got you in this mess.” The telekinetic teased. “But your sudden determination in achieving perfection is appreciated. Such efforts will not go unrewarded.” She winked before planting a kiss at the corner of his mouth, purposefully making him miss the full effect. “Let's go then, new star pupil.” With that, she tugged him along to the briefing.

As they learned the nature of their assignment, Aurelie leaned into Dom for support – her features twisted into something of empathetic terror for those kids. “They've got to be so scared...” She whispered, closing her eyes momentarily, as if the simple motion would banish the images forming her head. The back of her eyelids only aided in allowing her imagination to run rampant, and she snapped her gaze back onto Bella, focusing her thoughts there. She squeezed Dom's hand, and he returned the favor – reminding her that he was still there before he knelt down to rest his chin atop her head. “You're gonna have a sore back from having to lean down that far.” She murmured in between her leader's words, cerulean eyes finding his at a very weird angle. She had more of a view to the inside of his nose than his gaze. At least he didn't need to trim the hairs there yet.

When Bella placed Kat on the opposite side of the team, the telekinetic couldn't help but voice her disappointment. Even though she had Dom, Kat's presence served as a safety-net. Her experience on the field, the way she looked out for her even when they were just grabbing lunch... it made her feel a little more secure. “She liked your dartboard, by the way.” Thankfully, it hung in the closet portion of their room... while Aurelie had thought it hilarious, she highly doubted it would fail to offend other potential visitors. “We'll need different pictures soon I think.

Dimitri had made a remark about them watching each other's backs, but the blond turned into something more personal for Dom. The smirk on his face elicited a grin and she raised an eyebrow. “Oh I definitely will.” She joked, clutching to humor in an effort eliminate the bad feelings she'd gotten when the team learned what they were up against. The telekinetic wanted a distraction from the horrors those kids already faced, and something to eradicate her own fears that came with being on the team. Her boyfriend filled that role quite well, causing her to forget the rush of panic she experienced now when they went out on the field. Kat had assured her that feeling would fade with time, but the passing months had done little to dull the edges of that memory.

A few moments later, Aurie caught sight of Kat and pulled Dom along to wish her good luck. In her exchange with Dimitri, she'd missed the more argumentative side of her roommate. And while she'd missed the conversation Kat had with Leo and Bella, tension still wound in the shapeshifter's posture. “This sounds like fun.” The telekinetic greeted, disdain marking her tone. Elbowing her bestie for her attention, she apologized for being late to the meeting, and Kat didn't disappoint in her reaction, asking for her to repeat advise she'd given on hanging out with older men. “Make sure they have a lot of money to spend on me?” Aurie grinned, flashing a set of pearly whites. “Or wait... I forgot a part. Make sure they are dying of an incurable disease, and they have lots of money to spend on me.

Flashing the same grin toward her boyfriend, she wrapped an arm around his back to pull him closer. He'd of course know they were only joking. “Rumors fly anyway... I can at least generate some new stories for them this way.” She giggled as she thought of how the rumor mill would play it out – trading Dominik Edipova in for a professor. They'd have a lot of fun with that one. All of those juicy details.

Aurie stated once again she wished Kat was on her side of the fight, and the former Hydra agent requested she not do anything silly, obviously thinking that she'd pull another stunt that found her in a coma or worse. The blond nodded at that with one stiff motion, doing her best to keep the fading smile in her expression. Katerina knew her too well, as though she could read the telekinetic like she were merely a character in a cherished book. “My goal is to not wind up in the infirmary this go-around.” She said in the most cheerful voice she could muster; it still fell short of actually containing any genuine mirth. “I wasn't overly fond of the extended stay there last time. Even if my company kept me from going insane.

Don't let taking orders from Leo get under your skin too much, okay?” Aurie teased, recognizing that while they wouldn't outright kill each other, their personalities frayed each other's nerves. She'd spent very little time with Leo since he returned, but she highly doubted their attitudes toward each other had softened. Every time she witnessed them in the same room, their tones were clipped and their jokes always seemed to have a bite at the end of them. Numerous times over, she'd asked both of them for the story of how they knew each other, but both had said it was a different time then, and left it at that. “He's not so bad.” She said with a wink. Even though she'd brushed off the notion to tell him of her feelings for him in pursuit of something with Dom, she still considered the animal mimic to be one of her closest friends. It pained the blond to know that her two favorite people constantly found themselves at odds with each other. But at least they tried to be cordial when she occupied the same room.

Her best friend then issued a warning to Dom, and Aurie shook her head. “He's going in first apparently. I get to watch his back.” When she got to the last part of the sentence, her eyebrows quirked up with her innuendo. Kat grabbed her free hand when Julian started to speak about their assignment, drawing their attention away from the lighter conversation. Kat responded back, only for Bella to interrupt them. She greeted Dom with a pleasant remark, and Aurie nodded in agreement that it was. But then the leader turned to Kat, her question dripping with insinuation.

Aurie noted the whites in her best friend's clutch tighten on the table, knuckles turning white from the strain, and she bit down on her lip before she said anything to aggravate the situation. The fight between Kat and Bella had been brewing for months, and while she hoped for the best... realistically the patience of one of them would eventually break. Thankfully, Kat put it off for another time, being as civil as she could manage. Breathing out slowly, Aurie glanced at her boyfriend, who appeared hesitant to participate at all in the fiasco. If he'd ever thought her roommate hated him, he'd be relieved to see what her actual vehemence was like. Of all the people on the teams, Isabella Stone was Katerina's least favorite.

Why would there be a problem?” Aurie asked carefully, making sure to conceal any temper the question could have wrought. While she never expected the pair to be fast friends, she didn't understand why Bella would assume the worst in Kat. The X-men had given her this chance, given her this opportunity to tear herself away from Hydra. She deserved to be treated the way the rest of the recruits were. For whatever reason, the telekinetic had been the only one to really offer her that on the teams.

But in her eyes, Kat had done nothing on an assignment to deserve a second rate treatment. She'd followed orders, got the job done and protected her team mates when she could. Either way, now wasn't the time for them to fight about it. “Kat's always fine on a mission; no matter who she's with.” She assured their leader with a smile as she nudged her bestie. “I keep trying to pick up her nerves of steel, but it's yet to rub off on me...

Alex couldn’t help but chuckle at Luke’s explanation. “I wonder what their mission is then.” She could only imagine the Omega’s mission to be more brutal than theirs. The Omegas tended to get the harder missions. Though this time, she had no idea the Alphas sounded like they got the shorter end of the stick. “I am sure you are right. Just some seem um….like they do whatever they want to do.” A nice way of saying some of the Omegas appeared to act like crazy oddballs.

After mentioning that she didn’t need anything, she pointed out what positions she thought were best on the map. While she really had no experience with this kind of thing, she did at least know high covered places were likely the best for their task. It would keep them hidden while giving them an advantage. That was what she hoped for anyway. But with how unpredictable her last few missions went, she felt anything might go right or wrong at this point.

She listened attentively to what Luke had to say. She followed his finger with her eyes, taking note of what looked like foliage or some trees. He was right about one thing. These maps were great. She didn’t doubt their accuracy. However, some minor details could be off. Maps became out-dated with time. She figured that as long as she was partnered up with someone like Luke, thinking on her feet a bit wouldn’t be terribly hard.

“That does sound good to me. If we could even climb the trees and see well through the leaves, that would be much better. That way, we would be much higher and have cover from the foliage. But, since I cannot tell the type of trees we would be dealing with…I say that will be something we would have to decide once we get out there.” Other than that, she couldn’t think of too much to add. Not until she could see their chosen spots with her own eyes.

By now, it looked like people were starting to get ready to go through the portal. She gulped slightly. She prayed that the mission would go smoothly. She didn’t need any crazier off the wall incidents. For the sake of keeping her nervousness down, she focused her attention on Luke. Hearing his suggestion, she nodded. “I would assume we would have to, especially with what task Bella gave us.” After all, if they were supposed to provide support, they should probably be ready before the rest went in there.

She smiled back at Luke while she crossed her arms behind her back. She wanted to hide how her fingers fumbled against each other. Almost as if she was trying to play a flute. When Luke appeared ready, she followed after him. She didn’t want to keep him waiting. She kept her hands behind her back as they approached the portal.

At hearing Luke’s question, she turned her head towards him and nodded. “Ready as I will ever be for this.” She answered honestly. “How about you? Are you ready?” Maybe that was a slightly dumb question to ask. But, since this mission didn’t look fairly easy, she felt it was only fair to make sure Luke was okay with the task ahead.

Name: Narcissa "Cissa" Grace
Codename: Solaris
Team: Omega
Location: Central Park--->Columbus Circle Shopping Center

                                                    User Image

Narcissa frequently found herself wondering how Aren made it through most of life without her there to push him out of bed. It wasn’t that he didn’t have the aptitude or intelligence; He simply didn’t feel the need to apply himself when it came to matters he deemed unworthy. Any meeting with Emma Frost, big or small, ranked lower than attending Gym Class. Her slight irritation at his stubbornness melted away when his arms closed around her form, drawing her ever nearer. Her cheek nestled against his chest for a moment, eyes falling shut against her better judgment. It was dangerous…This unbreakable hold he had over her. It was far more difficult to pull away than it should have been, his touch causing her grip on duty and sanity to slip. “…The last vacation we took ended with both teams drugged and hallucinating.”

“I melted some trashy bints face off.”
, the blond bombshell recounted without pity or remorse. If anything, her tone was wistful.

She chuckled when he offered to do her chores, golden head tilting upward to accept a kiss she felt coming. He soothed her in ways he couldn’t imagine, every inch of him perfect. No matter how hard she tried to give the distance that Jean had initially suggested, she always found herself back in his arms by the end of the night. He banished the darkness in her heart, filling it with something she couldn’t describe.

                                                    It was dangerous.

“You couldn’t handle my chores…”, Narcissa whispered breathlessly, taking that moment to slip away. If she hadn’t, she couldn’t say that she would have the will to do it later. One kiss had nearly been her undoing… Two…

She couldn’t think of two, especially not when he tried pulling on the link that wove them together. It tugged at her innermost desires, causing her pulse to race so quickly that she could feel her skin begin to warm. He might as well have run his hand down the side of her face, or swept her back into his arms. Narcissa couldn’t respond to his last few quips as the door closed behind her, hand momentarily resting over her heart as she tried to stop it from beating.

It should be frozen, colder than ice. She needed it to still so that she could do her job and lead her team—but his growled laughter only caused it to worsen. ‘You’re killing me…’, she silently lamented, letting Aren feel how badly she wanted to come back… But couldn’t.

                                                    Duty first.

The distance that she forced between herself and Aren by meeting Emma in the Armory made her feel a little light headed. It was physically uncomfortable to tear herself away from her painfully handsome team member. That helped a little…Reminding herself that first and foremost, he was one of her Omega’s.

The plan was simple—Pedestrian enough that she mostly tuned Emma out until it was about time to go. For the most part she approved their choices for partners, but in some instances, they made her a little curious. Startlingly clear blue eyes caught Kerrigan’s gaze, wordlessly conveying the need that this mission needed to run seamlessly.

The in-fighting and idiocy on the Omega’s were the cause of this dreary and incredibly insulting assignment. She couldn’t fathom what Emma and Scott were thinking, to give the Alpha’s the more technical mission—But it would serve them right if they screwed it six ways from Sunday.

Leion 2.0 really SHOULD have seen her decision coming a mile away. It wasn’t so much that she knew his behavior—But that she knew her Leion. He was impressionable, and a little less hardened than this version… But there were enough commonalities that Narcissa didn’t need an updated instruction manual.

Roland shouldn’t have been surprised by the pairing either—Knowing her vindictive personality as well as he claimed to. Her eyes followed him, taking note of the fact that he accepted his penalty with grace. That was an extreme improvement over the usual rage beast he tended to become… The sun goddess was rather curious, but wouldn’t question it. Not yet anyway.

Kerrigan wasn’t the only one to notice Roland giving Charlie and Christian a once over. It was the same look Aren had given her before a mission, when she hadn’t assigned him to her team. Though come to think of it, Aren had been a little angrier. She really couldn’t blame the berserker for a variety of possible reasons… Her second in command always sought to do what was best for the team, but it might be tough running a gambit with two toddlers fresh off the farm. It was good of her ginger snap to keep an eye on them… But Narcissa just hoped they watched her back in return.

Therein may lie another reason for Roland’s cursory gaze... Kerrigan was gorgeous in a particular way that even blind men would take notice. It wasn’t unfathomable to think that Christian, Charlie, or both might spend too much time watching her back, and not their surrounding area. Narcissa could hardly blame them, considering Kerrigan was likely the only attractive red head in existence.

Either way, it was a double edged sword, and Narcissa would rather have Kerrigan babysit the Hardy Boys than someone else with less experience. Placing Leion and Roland together killed several birds with one stone. It might not have seemed like the best plan, but if it came down to it—Roland had a hero complex that would force him to keep Leion safe no matter what went down. Leion, for all intents and purposes was new to their team as well. He would need guidance, even if he didn’t realize it.

While they might have been related in an alternate reality—It would be a harsh awakening to fully understand that she was NOT his sister. Narcissa was not kind, nor compassionate. That would not change, could not change. Not when there was always some new enemy lurking around the corner, nipping at their heels.

Daylia agreed to pair up with Emlen—Who was in turn very lucky that Narcissa couldn’t hear her whispered words about the Alpha’s getting the better assignment. The Red Queen was already sour about the subject. It wouldn’t take much more for her to lash out and refuse the mission entirely if it kept burning away in her subconscious. Her subordinates bringing it up, when it was their fault for acting like fools, would not bode well for them.

Her eyes fluttered towards Peyton and Felix, elegant fingers resting on the curve of her hip as she tried to decide whether or not to break that particular pair up. She didn’t know the girl as well as the boy—But she did know two things they had in common: Both apparently hated Roland. Kerrigan had taken care of Peyton and her punishment after the incident in the hall, so she hadn’t felt the need to run her through the ringer a second time… But that didn’t mean she didn’t know all about it.

For now she left it be… But that combination was definitely worse than Roland and Leion. The blonde bombshell almost hoped they DIDN’T learn to work together—For everyone’s sake, including their own.

Narcissa would not be forgiving if either screwed up for a vendetta.

Blake was about as interesting to her as last season’s fashion week. Which, if a translation was needed, meant that he wasn’t. He chose to shack up with the giraffe necked ginger and Narcissa fought rolling her eyes. Either the Texan wanted a taste of the super-sized cupcakes on her chest—Or he was playing it safe. If it were anyone else she would have declared him a pig and washed her hands of it… But playing it safe seemed to be his MO. What a bloody ponce.

Nevertheless—Both Charlotte and Blake were too responsible to cause any trouble. Which simply meant that they were both far too mind-numbing in that moment to dwell on.

Especially not when Aren was suddenly in her proximity. She felt him before she saw him—But didn’t bother moving away from his nudge. Any skin to skin contact was better than nothing, no matter how fleeting. Instead of giving in to a coquettish smirk like she wanted to, her eyes narrowed when he asked her if she needed him to play doctor. “Not in a million years, Aquene.”

He whispered in her ear and her glare intensified as it normally would have, her arms crossing haughtily over her chest as she stuck her nose in the air. It seemed to be the regular level of annoyance she held for the Native American, constantly staving off his advances—Drawing proverbial lines in the sand. “I’m going to obliterate it first chance I get—so you might as well take it off.”

“Unless you enjoy feeling like you’ve been deep fried.”

It was a casual threat. Most of the team would have heard worse come out of her mouth once her temper was lit. Aren seemed to let it go for the moment, and she fought breathing a sigh of relief. Had he no idea of what he did to her? Being so close, whispering in her ear when she had to hide everything she felt… It was going to drive her insane.

He would feel her frustration echo across their bond as if she were screaming at the top of her lungs in an empty opera hall.

The usually carefree Aren aloud, perhaps not to her, asked if one of the groups would be all right on their own. She had to follow his gaze to figure out who he was referring to, and a sigh escaped her. Leion and Roland, of course. Narcissa tugged sweetly on the golden threads that bound them in order to turn his attention back to her. “They’ll be fine. Trust me.”

If nothing else… Narcissa knew her team. Sometimes through less than polite means, but she knew enough to govern them as the situation demanded.

Once they were through the portal she watched each group pass through with a critical eye. Unthinkingly she allowed her senses to cast out a wide net as she fished for anyone that might be nearby. This was a good spot, deserted, and peppered with enough trees that the group should remain unnoticed. Gateway had neatly worked the portal into the trunk of a large tree—How charming.

If only he were a white rabbit yapping about being late, she might have thought to call herself Alice.

The blonde allowed Aren to lead her from the area once the team dashed to the four winds. They had already broken a few rules of engagement by arriving in a group—She wouldn’t have them enter as a group as well. Measure opened the door for her and she breezed through it as if she owned the ground she walked on, flaxen hair flowing in a shining wave in her wake.

Crystalline blue eyes fell to Aren as he spoke, feathery lashes seeming to shield what she was thinking—adding a softer layer to her icy countenance, “We shall.”

Narcissa let her hand rest in the crook of his elbow, before allowing her fingertips to slip down the inside of his arm. Almost an afterthought, they brushed tenderly past his wrist as she pressed her palm to his. Fingers threading on instinct, she kept a good pace as her eyes leisurely scanned the patrons that passed by. “You know… I’ve been trying to get you into a shopping center for ages.”

“If we didn’t already have plans today, we’d be spending the majority of the afternoon in dressing rooms.”
, The blonde goddess didn’t bother elaborating on whether he’d be in them alone or not. She also didn’t bother to disguise the sultry tone Aren drew from her, considering they were finally out of ear shot from his peers.

All she truly wanted was for time to stop and stand still. It didn’t matter that they’d spent the night together, it already felt like weeks since he’d held her last, months since he’d kissed her. Shaking her head a little to clear it, she sighed… Knowing that her desire would eventually spread to him—Like a virus. Her wants were poison when they needed clearer heads.

Narcissa paused at a large kiosk, looking for a directory… “If I were the perfect pair of shoes, where would I be hiding?”

‘The perfect shoe’ was synonymous with ‘Teenagers’. She tried to avoid mentioning anything about their mission out loud—Just in case there were MRD soldiers listening in. Narcissa’s apprehension towards this mission was more than just because it was beneath them. The truth was that she simply wasn’t skilled at tracking. Going through someone’s bank habits and spending patterns was one thing… But stalking a couple of frightened kids on foot?

It simply wasn’t her forte. She couldn’t place herself in their shoes. The Red Queen couldn’t imagine hiding the way they were. It was hard enough to hide with the X-Men—And they were completely removed from society. Glancing towards Aren she tilted her head, resting her temple against his shoulder. “Where do you think we should start?”

It was a silent way of admitting she wasn’t sure where to go next. She tended to think of cliché’s—Mostly because she assumed the majority of humanity was filled with insipid flat scans. Narcissa didn’t trust them to think outside the box, and not hide in a toy store. She crossed out a few places on principle… But she leaned more towards storage areas. If they were hiding, the key to avoiding capture would be to stay out of sight.

Her free hand moved across his stomach as her body turned, half wrapping around his waist—Both playing the part of a lover, and actually being one. The soft line of her body pressed against his, and she sighed again, this time in relief. Such closeness in public was a freedom that she hadn’t had since they’d left the reservation... Aren’s people hadn’t known her; They didn’t judge her for every word, every action. Vacation felt like a lifetime ago… “Either direction is just as likely as the other… But we don’t have much time…”

There really wasn’t. If the MRD found the teenagers first…

Narcissa was not willing to entertain that thought—Not after what the Sentinels had done to the Academy. They’d sentenced the lot of them to live underground like animals… Other mutants had it worse--Just like the ones they were looking for. Their family was gone...

She wouldn’t spare anything responsible for that. Not sentinels, not humans. Nothing, and no one.

                                        Name: Isabella Stone
Location: Alkali Lake Facility - War Room
                                        Team: Alpha

Isabella felt her gaze drift back towards the front of the War Room as she shook her head at Leo’s response, slim shoulders straightening as she tried to suppress a smile. She’d never known the animal mimic to be overly concerned about the trendy aspect of clothing; though the songstress had never really put much thought into it. He was handsome without trying—even when unkempt and sporting enough facial hair to make Duck Dynasty proud. ~A different way…Well then…I’ll be sure to dig up a copy of Cosmo Girl for you when we get back.~

The raven haired woman knew that wasn’t what he’d meant at all, but deliberately went in the wrong direction for amusements sake. The Alpha leader kept a straight face, unconsciously mimicking the stoic stance of the man beside her. They were already breaking unspoken rules by discretely holding hands in public, she wouldn’t push the bar by seeming unprofessional. As much as she tried to keep an even keel, she wasn’t the best actress. She had trouble hiding what she was feeling, if only because she wore her heart on her sleeve. Leo would recognize it, but those who hadn’t spent much time in her presence as of late would find her contentment a little strange. Prior to the past few weeks Isabella had prowled the Academy grounds like some kind of ghoulish sentry. It was probably a welcome change for her friends, just as she found immense relief in being able to breathe again...

Just when it felt like she might crack, Leo seemed to magically appear out of thin air. His timing in returning to the X-Men couldn’t have been better. Bella wasn’t altogether sure if the animal mimic was aware of the proverbial ledge he’d managed to pull her off of, but she was grateful nonetheless.

She heard Leo sigh after she explained that he didn’t have to wear the new uniform and his question caused her to smirk. Bella had watched him obsess over his gear time and time again—it wasn’t a surprise that he’d prefer his normal equipment. Elegant shoulders rolled into an unassuming shrug, filled with an innocence only she could pull off without seeming juvenile. ~You didn’t ask, cariño.~
                                        **[dear]

~And besides…~, the young woman trailed off, choosing to continue weaving her words into a delicate sound wave to keep them private. Emerald eyes glimmered teasingly from behind her domino mask when she glanced in Leo’s direction, her train of thought causing her to look away just as quickly. Were it not so dark, he might have been able to see a slightly pink tinge to her cheeks. Never had she considered the possibility of winding up entangled with one of her best friends… It was new, and strange—yet somehow heartening. ~Why on earth would I tell you? You apparently haven’t seen you in leather.~

Or what appeared to be leather. She didn't know how UMF worked, exactly.

Isabella followed Scott’s lead after that—Joining him at the front of the room to give the team the rest of their parameters. Forge explained the collars that the mutants wore and she remained silent, briefly wondering if Blake would make it back in time to go out with the Omega’s. She hoped that he’d gotten to the base all right. It was bizarre that she’d not heard much from him, aside from the typical polite correspondence. She knew how demanding his parents could be, and wouldn't be surprised if he was late. The only thing that Forge left out, something she knew from experience, was that all of the collars had a tracking device.

But that was a bridge they could come to if and when necessary. All of the collars should be left behind regardless.

From there she moved towards the main table that held blueprints and maps, simply waiting to see if her teammates had any further questions. That was one of the first times she’d addressed her team as a whole since they’d arrived, and she couldn’t help the nervousness that made her heart skip a few beats in her chest. It didn’t matter that she’d poured over the plan a dozen and one times… She couldn’t forget what had happened at the Academy.

All she could do was try and make sure that things went smoothly this time around.

As the Alpha’s seemed to migrate to their assigned partners, she would have needed to be blind and deaf to miss the interaction between Katerina and Leo. Where she’d initially been confused by the shape shifters insult, there was no mistaking it after Leo issued the young woman a warning. If it weren’t for the fact that she could hear everything in the room and beyond, it might have looked like they were simply speaking side by side.

There was also the fact that she knew how deeply the former SHIELD and HYDRA agents disliked each other. That certainly colored her vision.

Katerina turned the thinly veiled threats towards her, and Isabella looked away—Barely missing her hateful gaze. It didn’t stop her words from burning her ears. What had she done to make Katerina hate her? Whether it was because of her past relationship with Gideon, or the present with Leo… She just didn’t know.

Isabella felt her eyes burn for a moment, but she forced them closed—Blinking back any unpleasantness. Her frustration seemed to be hot wired to her tear ducts, but now wasn’t the time. Leo and Kat managed to separate without trading blows, but that didn’t make her any more comfortable with what had just happened. Perhaps the Alpha leader should have intervened immediately, but she knew from previous experience that Leo could take care of himself.

Never again would she make the mistake of being too protective of him.

Isabella fell back into a conversation with Thomas for a few moments, only breaking off when Aurelie arrived with Dominik in tow. She greeted both politely, but was only too aware of Katerina’s distaste. Part of her wanted to pull the shape shifter from the mission, but it could compromise the assignment with a last minute personnel change.

The inquiry fell from her lips before she thought about it, expression the consistency of slate. She couldn’t have anyone on the team that was going to start fights at random—simply out of respect for the safety of those she brought with her. What she didn’t expect was a response from Aurelie first. Hadn’t she just seen the altercation in the back of the room? Wasn’t she friends with both Leonardo, and Katerina? Her head tilted as she focused on the blonde telekinetic, bottle green eyes a little sharper than they usually were. “I wouldn’t presume to guess…That is why I directed the question at Miss Force.”

She caught Leo returning to the room out of the corner of her eye. She’d heard his footsteps, but she didn’t want to look in his direction for fear that Katerina would lose it again. He was shaking his head, but it was definitely too late.

For a split second Isabella thought that Katerina might forsake her grip on the table to try and tear her face off, but she thankfully seemed to reign herself in. Why, she wasn’t sure. Her words were crude, as par usual, but Bella honestly expected far worse as she sighed. Once again, Aurelie hopped into the conversation and Isabella had to wonder if she’d hit her head that morning. It was either that, or she had a blind spot for the shape shifter the size of Texas. Isabella forced a thin smile as she glanced at a watch that didn’t belong to her. It was too big, and a little awkward around her wrist. She’d always meant to give it back to its owner, but it just hadn’t come up. Nevertheless, it was time to move… “If that’s true—then she shouldn’t have any trouble at all working with Leo once the keys are collected.”

Kali, Eidolon—Take a few more moments to review the intel. No one wants either of you stuck in a wall. Allegra and Dice, say your goodbyes and then head towards the portal.”
, Isabella spoke plainly, pulling away from the conversation as smoothly as she’d come into it. She didn’t have time to be caught in their twisted sister girl-mance relationship, at least not now. The Alphas needed Katerina for the time being, but that would not stop Isabella from being cautious. Were they in a different situation, she would have informed Aurelie that there was a difference between nerves and arrogance…But one step in the wrong direction could very well take them down a path that wouldn’t end well.

She picked up a utility belt from Forge as she walked, slinging the slim accessory around her waist with a little more force than necessary. Katerina got under her skin like nothing else. Her voice echoed with authority that carried throughout the war room with ease, “Alpha’s—Let’s move.”

The Siren nodded to Eden, who looked a little annoyed that they’d taken so long. Isabella hadn’t been given a time frame that they needed to adhere to as far as keeping the portal open. Taking a deep breath she walked through the tear in space and time, finding herself suddenly standing on the edge of a forest. The sunshine made her eyes hurt a little more than she’d expected it to, but they adjusted quickly.

The scent of an actual breeze made her pause…. The air in the X-Men Sanctuary wasn’t exactly stagnant, but there was nothing quite like the real thing. Stepping out of the way to make room for the others she kept vigilant, listening for the telltale sounds of nearby humanity. So far so good… Nothing but furry woodland creatures. The detainment center wasn’t far off. Close enough that they could walk, far enough away to give them the element of surprise.

Once everyone was assembled she did a quick headcount—before giving Kali and Eidolon the all clear. “Go.”

Glitter, Playboy, WuKong, Siege, Allegra and Dice follow me. Forrest and Flairer, find yourselves a good viewpoint. If you even suspect that you see Sentinel thrusters, call it through the comm. The rest of you follow Renaissance Man. Keep an eye out for foot patrols, and move as a unit. Remember that our only mission today is extraction…Any personnel should be neutralized non-lethally.”
, Isabella reinforced to the group, before motioning that her team follow her lead. They really couldn’t release any prisoners safely without one of the keys from Eidolon or Kali, but they could subdue the MRD units patrolling the fences.

The Siren led her group through the treeline, staying low. Her hearing alerted her of any incoming patrols long before she was seen. Not for the first time she was grateful that this uniform did not come with a cape. She’d gotten tripped up on it more than once, and where stealth was important, a dragging piece of cloth wasn’t going to do her any favors. She held up her hand to signal her group to stop when she heard the sounds of soldiers coming closer. ~We want to take them out as quickly and quietly as possible. Allegra—See if you can disassemble their guns and take their gear?~

~Siege and Dice—You keep an eye on our perimeter. Once Allegra has their gear—Playboy melt it down. Especially their communication devices. I’ll try and put them to sleep. Glitter and WuKong—Be prepared to subdue anyone I can’t put down. Once they’re taken care of we zip tie them and move on…~
, her orders were pretty clear—Straight forward and to the point. ~There are eight of them total. Any questions?~

Isabella sincerely hoped that the other groups were fine on their own. There was an uneasy feeling in the bottom of her stomach that made her want to listen for them…But if she constantly threw her hearing out that far, she might miss what was right in front of her. They weren’t children that needed her to take care of them. If they weren’t ready, Scott wouldn’t have assigned them to the Alphas.

At least, that’s what she kept telling herself.

Sighing softly she focused her sonic abilities and a gentle song rolled through the air once the patrol was close enough. There were no words, and it didn’t seem to affect her team.Sleep. You’re so…So tired. Close your eyes and relax…You deserve a break. Everything is exactly as it should be…”

It was much harder to influence a group, over one person. That was why she kept Glitter and WuKong for back up. At the very least it should knock out about half. The rest would be incredibly drowsy, depending on the force of their will. Each person held a different level of susceptibility to her hypnotic suggestion. It seemed most effective when they didn’t know it was coming.

This was a game of rinse and repeat. Subdue MRD, free captives, rinse, repeat, go home. They should be golden—So long as they were quick. Sentinels would definitely be a kink in the plan.

Katerina's solution to keep him safe, to use someone else as a meat shield alongside downplaying his strength, was her special way of saying “stay safe”. Considering that Christian could essentially become a titan if trouble were to come, the cautions Katerina threw him sounded more like a “have a nice day”. A sweet sentiment, though Christian felt the words were there just so Katerina had something to say to him, and so he could say something back. At this point, anything could be a ruse, a game set out by Katerina to have him react in a certain way. “If the girl could transform into the Big Bad Wolf.”

Kerrigan's partnership with Charlie and Christian was a definite plus. Considering the Omegas were reputable for being difficult (if rumors were to be trusted), having the skilled redhead ask if she could join them was sure to set a great mood for the rest of the mission. Her friendly attitude towards them also helped cement the whole deal.

Kerrigan assured them that rumors weren't entirely true, likely an unspoken statement about the entire team rather then themselves. She turned to look at, apparently, the infamous Narcissa, Omega Team Leader and She-Who-Can-Not-Be-Tamed. If Narcissa and Kerrigan were as close as their gestures towards each other implied, then even better.

The mission given to them was simple enough: go to a mall somewhere in New York, and find a pair of twins that are being hunted down. The catch was that they were supposed to be incognito, so they had to blend into the crowd, no uniforms and no powers. A bummer for Christian, as he was itching to use his powers to smack some goon face. However, he and Charlie would find other ways to keep each other entertained until things pick up, if at all during their mission.

Once entering their transportation, the Omega leader gave them prompt orders: no communicators, and blend in. Time to pretend that they were all regular young adults whose only goal today was to browsing and what to do tomorrow. As the trio split off into a direction to try and look normal, Kerrigan was given a quick smooch by another Omega, before he rejoined his small group. Charlie guess it was Kerrigan's boyfriend, to which she confirmed. She explained that her duty as second in command to the Omegas (which confirmed that she and Narcissa were indeed quite close) had her watch over the newer members of the team, which right now were the West Coast Pair. “Makes sense. Don't worry though: me and Lucky here will make your jobs easy. We're not just pretty faces, you know.” Christian said, pointing his thumbs to both his and Charlie's faces to back up his point.

Their readheaded handler asked about what their cover should be, and Christian brainstormed two simple ideas: their athletic abilities would make them look perfect as gym rat buddies looking for their next physical fix...or they could pose as a threesome, essentially. Not surprisingly, Charlie and Kerrigan both opted for the less sexually implied choice. The wolf nodded in agreement, holding back the urge to tell them that they were no fun. In reality, the gym rat angle was probably the most incognito choice of the two, though if he were to argue the other choice...no, it was best not to contemplate too much on it. Despite how much he wanted to goof off, this mission did have a tone of seriousness to them, and the twins they were trying to rescue were in real danger. Him taking this mission not seriously at all would be heartless.

Entering the mall, Kerrigan took the initiative and strode to the nearest directory. Christian and Charlie were quick to follow. She mentioned going to Foot Locker first, then d**k's. “Solid stuff. If all else fails, I can just follow the smell of sweat and sound of 'Eye of the Tiger' of iPods to find the gym, since the mall likes to hide their stores.” Christian pointed his finger to the directory, tracing his finger along the map in an attempt to find a gym, and failing to do so.

Roland Chevalier
Location: Manhattan, the Shopping Mall
Thoughts: And now I’m not alone with this guy…

User ImageRoland took the pairing of him and Leion did not surprise him in the slightest. Narcissa for all her calm and stoic leadership, could sometimes be a bit of a vindictive b***h. After all, she was still quite pissed at him, as far as he was aware. So he remained cool and collected about it. He also came to realize that he needed to take things easy. He was starting to realize that, even in the times he was in the right, acting out often brought him negative attention. So he was going to take things in stride, try not to let things get to him. Especially for the sake of being with Kerrigan, of all things that he wanted to keep going for him, it was Kerrigan that he wanted to hold on to.

So he breathed in deep and waited a moment before stepping forward. In that moment, he was surprised that Blake and Charlotte offered to join them. It was nice, after all the idea of having more than just two people covering a location was pretty solid. It also gave Roland some more people to be around. After all, Leion attacked him a month earlier. Apology or not, the southern born fighter was not the type to forget so easy. So having some people around might make his questionable partner less inclined to snap again.

“Works for me. Doesn’t hurt to have some more support.” he replied, accepting the invitation. And with that, they stepped through the portal and entered to New York. He breathed in the cool city air, he could smell the urban decay, the years of abuse and neglect this city had experienced. It had come a long way since the 80s when things were rough, but even after all those years it couldn't shake the rot. The slow decomposition of the mighty metropolis. He followed them to the shopping mall, nodding when Blake suggested they head upstairs, check the beddings. “Roger that, us Southern boys aren’t born for the cold.” heading on up.

xReputations came into the conversation and Charlie commented on what he had heard of the Omegas. To say the least, he’d heard about some of their issues. Kerrigan, however, came to the defense of the team, and told him not to believe everything he heard. “If you say so, I’ll just have to see what they’re like for myself.” he responded in good nature. “So far so good.”

He hadn’t failed to notice the wordless exchange between Kerrigan and Narcissa, and offered a subtle smile to acknowledge the blonde should she happen to look his way. Despite telling the redhead that he would keep an open mind about his teammates, he couldn’t help wanting to stay away from Narcissa’s bad said based on what he had heard of her.

Christian’s disappointment at not being allowed to go wolf for this mission was easy enough to pick up on, even if he hadn’t already voiced it aloud. But he would survive. And who knew, maybe their cover would be blown and he would get to let loose after all. If not, the two boys would just have to come up with some kind of game they could play to keep them occupied while they discreetly searched the mall for the teens. Of course the mission had to come first, but that didn’t mean they couldn’t also have some fun.

On the subject of whether or not Charlie and Christian would be able to keep up with Kerri, and Charlie assured that there wouldn’t be a problem. A curious expression crossed her features when he mentioned that they had a few tricks up their sleeves. Instead of cluing her in, he offered a grin, and a friendly wink.

Shortly after, another member of the Omegas wished her luck and gave her a peck on the cheek. Her boyfriend apparently, and Charlie had been just curious enough to ask why they hadn’t paired up for the mission. Her answer was along the lines of them not needing to be together all the time, and that she had her responsibilities as the team’s second-in-command. They sounded pretty solid as far as what she’d divulged. He nodded his understanding at her reasoning. It was good enough for him, he hadn’t been trying to pry just curious.
“Ah, so we’re on probation.” Christian assured her that they wouldn’t be a problem as new recruits. And Charlie nodded again.

After stepping through the portal, Narcissa gave a few last minute instructions. They turned their coms off and split into their groups. Charlie, Christian and Kerrigan discussed their cover for the mission, settling on the fitness angle rather than the threesome that Christian had suggested. Charlie chuckled as Kerrigan’s thoughts on the matter.
“Gym rats it is.” Something he knew all too well - he could just be himself. While maybe it was the less interesting of the two options, it would be the easier to play off.

Kerrigan led the group over to a directory and threw out some suggestions for where they could start. As she looked at what stores the mall had to offer, Charlie glanced through the crowd. Somehow, he had the idea they might end up getting lucky and spot the twins early on. At the very least, he didn’t want to miss them because they weren’t paying attention. Christian mentioned finding a gym as well.

Charlie gave a shrug to the both of them.
“Might as well start at whatever’s closest.” They had no idea where the kids would be, they may as well have tossed a dart at the directory to decide. A gym was actually a good idea, there would be showers if they could sneak in. He was sure a couple of kids on the run might like to clean up if they could. Plus it was out of the open.

“You really think there’s a gym here? We should definitely hit it if there is.” It didn’t mean it should be the only place they looked though, and a quick stop in a couple stores first might be a good idea. “But first, our friend needs some new running shoes.”

“Finish Line, d**k’s, gym?” he asked. “Good, we should check out the GoPros while we’re at d**k’s. I’ve been meaning to get one.” He didn’t expect to buy anything during this outing, that’s not why they were here. But if he had a minute to look at them, he was going to take it. Maybe the hand wraps to. He would be spending a lot more time in the gym now that they were living underground, investing in some new gear was probably a good idea...

He let Kerrigan and Christian figure out the directions with the directory while he kept an eye out, and soon enough they were on their way. First stop: running shoes.
“So, you're a big runner?” he asked Kerrigan. “We're stuck with treadmills now. I miss the fresh air.” Charlie had always been a pretty outdoorsy guy, being stuck underground in Canada was a bummer. But somehow he was surviving.

Daylia flashed a toothy smile as she saw Gracie flag her over. It was probably wrong on many levels to joke about their leader the way she had, but it couldn't be helped. Of course she wasn't stupid enough to say it loudly enough for the blond to hear. The smile turned into a grin as she fought back a small chuckle. "Ahh, of course it's something like that." She said, keeping her voice in the hushed tones. Though it wasn't long before the presentation began.

When the plan was hatched, she was thankful that Narcissa simply pointed them out to pair them up before moving on. She could only assume their hushed conversation had gone unheard. She fought back the eye roll as she gave a sigh, only to have Gracie lock arms with her. Another smile appeared as they began their venture into the portal.

"Anyone else get a little queasy stepping though those?" She asked out loud as she tossed her jacket on. Again more of the mission was spelled out for them. Obviously they were to blend in, and of course the one way to blend in at the mall was to eat, and Daylia didn't hesitate to share the thought with Gracie.

Daylia couldn't help but laugh as the dark haired woman pulled her along.
"Hey now, I never said you had to keep up with me. I don't expect everyone to have a fast metabolism like me." She said as they made their way to the building. "And you can't blame me for liking food, its just so yummy." She said, adding a fake swoon to her voice and steps.

They made their way inside to find the place buzzing with life. All the various smells assaulted them, causing Daylia to look in this direction and that.
"Stromboli, Chinese food, hamburgers, popcorn, tacobell." She whined, wishing they had all of this back at the base. "They have everything!" A month away from civilization seemed to make her fuzzy on what the mall had to offer in the ways of food.

Now it was Daylia's turn to pull Gracie along, making a beeline to the pretzels, fighting the urge to visit every line, even though she knew she wouldn't be able to eat all of it. Though if it was because of her stomach or the mission she had to remind herself of, she was unsure.
"Hi!" She greeted cheerfully. "I want a cinnamon sugar pretzel with that yummy glaze dipping sauce... Oh and a small lemonade." She said completing her order before turning to her companion. "You want anything?" She asked as she fished her wallet out of her pocket. "My treat." It was the least she could do if she was going to turn Gracie into a fattie.

Though as she stood at the counter, again the reason they were there peaked in her mind. With a face that seemed to be considering where they should hit next, her eyes darted around the room, taking in the faces hoping to catch a glimpse of the kids they were there to rescue.
"What store do you want to hit first?" She asked as she turned back to her partner.

                                                                      User Image
                                                                                      Location: Kitchen ----> On Mission

Thomas couldn’t help but wonder if Isabella was trying to convince herself or him that things would be okay. It was a small thing, but Thomas knew the woman well enough in all their years to pick up on some of the more subtle things. Granted, these days it was a little harder sometimes. No matter the woman’s intentions behind the statement, Thomas wouldn’t question it verbally. What good would that do anyone? Instead he just decided to smile and nod along to the Alpha leader.

“Of course we can.” Better to reassure even if subtle than to try and undermine even if it would have been unintentional. If Bella said everything was fine, then everything was fine.

Watching everyone else with Bella, Thomas hoped things went as well as he hoped. To be honest, he wasn’t sure they could take a loss at this point, it would drag morale to dangerously low point. Not that he thought things would go badly. He was optimistic, but really, somebody had to be. Thomas had never been the pessimistic type. At least, not to his knowledge.

Apparently they had a recent addition in the form of Dominik to the team. While Thomas was friends with a lot of people, including Dom’s apparent girlfriend, he didn’t know the man very well. Perhaps if Aurelie and him were becoming a thing, it was time to get to know him.

After short time, the time to leave approached and Thomas let most of the others go ahead of him. Giving a thumbs up to Bella, he headed for the portal, pausing only when he heard Bella question if everything was okay with Katerina. Turning to look, the tension between the two women was practically palpable. Something was apparently going on, but Thomas couldn’t even begin to guess what.

Katerina gave an answer that was practically begging to be called out on. It was very biting and sarcastic, but it didn’t seem like anything was going to come to blows. Leo said something in a lowered tone to Katerina, the contents went unheard, but they didn't seem too nice given expressions. Thomas had to wonder just what piece of the puzzle he was missing on this entire situation. He wasn’t even aware there was apparently a problem between the leader and Katerina. Aurelie too chimed in and as Bella answered Thomas turned back around.

If the healer had to hazard a guess, he would say the shapeshifter’s malice had something to do with Leo and Bella. Perhaps she too had noticed the short handholding moment. Though why she would care… He wasn’t entirely sure. Maybe something to do with Aurelie. Those two were quite close. And while he didn’t know for sure, he had his suspicions as to the reason, but nothing concrete.

Since it seemed like everything was okay, Thomas decided to go ahead and head through the portal. Upon stepping on the other side, the healer stepped away from the portal and waited for the others patiently. Soon after Bella arrived and things seemed to get underway. Thomas walked over to his group and waited for things to get moving. Sparing a look over his shoulder as Bella and her group left. The usual nagging worry for his friends settling into his gut.

“Be careful Bells, and good luck.” Thomas mouthed to the sound manipulator, the sound that came out not loud enough for anyone aside from her too hear. At least he didn’t think it was. With that done, Thomas turned towards his group. Things would go okay, that was something he was determined to be sure of. “So what’s the plan?” He asked Leo, anxious to get things over with.

He hated missions… It just meant there was the possibility of someone he cared about getting hurt. He would likely be holding his proverbial breath until they returned to the base. With everyone safe and sound.

Isabella Stone always seemed to have the right thing to say, and it was hard for Leo to use his wit when she could match it so well with her own. At her snide comments, Leo could only purse his lips in order to not smile and show that he was amused. He swayed to the side, casually bumping her shoulder with his bicep and giving her a sideways glance.

He was glad to have seen a change in her mood as of late – he was unfortunately aware of just how emotionally distressed she had been at the time of his arrival to the new base. They were both missing something, and as it turned out, it had been each other. A lot had been brewing in them individually, and their blow-out before his absence had been the metaphorical straw that broke the camel's back. A lot of nasty things had been said, and a lot of anger had been aimed at those that hadn't deserved it. Mending that, though, had been the first step to recovery for the both of them.

Those dark thoughts, the ones that would come to him in the middle of the night or in the heat of battle, were still in the back of his mind, and truthfully, they would probably always be there. They were a merely a part of him, but for the time being, they had been pushed to the side. He could feel that Bella was the same, only that the darkness in her could likely be completely vanquished.

"Get up there and do that leading thing," Leo muttered, hoping the dry words of encouragement would boost her confidence. She would every bit of it for this mission – things like this weren't easy, even for mutants. They were doing two of some of the hardest things when it came to clandestine infiltrations: non-lethal takedowns and exfil with multiple hostages. Not to mention the fact that there were so many moving parts, some of them he considered too untrained to take on an assignment like this. Either way, those people needed their help.

Katerina had been a thorn in his side, or perhaps in a more hurtful place, like under his thumbnail, for way too long. It was ironic that one of the most stressful things about his old job had followed him – in a sense – to his new one. Here was a woman that he had sworn he was going to kill time and time again, and now they had to work together. The optimism that had blossomed in him recently wanted to believe that the only reason they had been enemies in the past was merely because they were on opposite sides, and now that they were sort of on the same side, things could smooth out between them. The pessimistic side of him, the one that had kept him alive all those years in the nitty gritty world of aggressive espionage, just couldn't forget how she would bite, scratch, and leave him for dead more than a few times.

His touch was not welcome, and he didn't expect it to be. It was very much meant to get her attention, and that it had done well. She turned on him, a fire in her eyes that normally would have him tense and ready, but right now, he was completely calm, deadpan; his lips were pursed and his eyebrow raised – a typical resting face for him. A tinge of pity went through him – he had figured her out quite awhile ago. Lately, she was all talk, and no bite. Ever since her appearance at the Academy, they had never come to blows – a pattern that Leo was becoming more and more comfortable with. Maybe in the future they would, eventually – but as it stood, now and then was not the time to be duking it out.

He had slipped in and out as quickly as he could, but when he got back, he could see the conflict brewing between Kat and Bella. He cautiously approached, ready to pounce on Kat if need be, even though he knew that Bella could more than handle herself. His head snapped in the direction of Aurelie as she spoke up to defend her friend. Honestly, he had hardly noticed that she was in the room. That was mostly because… well… well, there were reasons, but he wasn't thinking about that right now. Either way, her entrance into the conversation immediately cemented his silence and absence from it. The answer to her first question would take story upon story to fully explain to her, and they didn't have that sort of time right now. He was almost ready to counter her statement about Kat by explaining that he wasn't just anyone, but he still held his tongue. Leo knew that Kat had probably told Aurie a few things about him during his time with SHIELD, and he didn't want to start that conversation now. Again, time constraints.

Luckily, the moment of tension passed and they were soon back on track to planning and executing the mission. As Bella dished out orders and team assignments, Leo ran a mental list of who he had on his team. By process of elimination, he had Tsunami, Opaque, Landslide, Blaze, Transmigration, and Macabre. His mind eased a bit at realizing that Tara was on his team: not only was she extremely useful, but they were also good friends. He knew he would have no issues working with her. The others he didn't know so well – he knew codenames, faces, powers, and had maybe a handful of interactions with two or three of them.

Thomas had approached him and asked what the plan was. He had to think about it for a second – unfortunately for their little rag-tag group of mutants, flashy abilities weren't exactly the greatest thing to have for clandestine missions. The hardest parts would be getting past patrols and neutralizing the guards around the prison yard before they could call for reinforcements. As his mind started to work, he spoke up to the group.

"Alright guys, listen up. We'll be on channel four for comm, but I want to be as radio silent as possible for this. Grab a handful of flexi-cuffs before you go. Remember that we need to take out guards without alerting the others, so if you're going to go for one, make sure you won't be spotted. Opaque," Leo turned to the shadow manipulator, "when we get close to the yard, I want you to take up position in a tree tall enough to see over the wall. If you can, use your ability in conjunction with the shade of the tree in order to mask your presence. Take these," he leaned over to a crate and picked up a pair of binoculars, which he handed to her, "and put a tag on the map for every guard you see. The information should update to our comm devices and we'll be able to see a top-down view of where they are in relation to us. Try and pick a tree that'll be in the direction of the exit – we'll use you for cover when we high-tail it out of there."

"Mig," Leo was referring to Thomas by a shortening of his codename Transmigration, which he hoped wouldn't offend him. Leo was well aware of having a codename that was a bit long, and didn't let it bruise his ego when others would call him something more simple like just Renaissance or DeVito. "Do you have any vials of your blood on you to distribute to the other team members?" Leo was hoping so, because that could make healing other team members so much easier. If Thomas didn't already have them, Leo would recommend having epi-pen-like devices that could be handed out to other team members for the future.

"Everyone, stay close to me. Keep big shows of power down to a minimum – the less attention we attract, the better. However you think you can use your powers to help the situation, be my guest – the best one who knows how to use your power is you. Alright – let's move out."

Quickly and quietly, he started to lead his team through the thick forest, using tree after tree for cover. They veered left from the other group and was soon far enough away from them that he couldn't hear them at all. When he was confident that they were at a good angle from the prison, he started to move in. They were on a bit on a hill, and past an upcoming road perpendicular to their path lead to an even steeper slope, then the prison was just beyond that.

Before they reached the road though, Leo could hear something – an engine, and the sound of tires crunching tiny rocks. "Get down," he whispered, laying prone behind a large fallen tree. "Blaze, make your way left," he said, already knowing how he wanted to position them all. "Mig, Macbre, Landslide, stay close to me. Tsunami and Opaque, make your way right." Just as he had said the order, he could hear the Jeep coming around a corner to the right. He guessed that there were a maximum of four guys in there – easy stuff. Tapping Landslide on the shoulder, he whispered to her, "When I give the signal, I want you to stop their vehicle as discreetly as possible." The way he figured, at least two would get out when their car unexpectedly stopped, all four if they were lucky. "You three," he was referring to those closest to him – Mig, Macabre, and Landslide, "Hop out and help me take care of at least the two that will be on our side of the road." He pressed his comm to talk to the others that might have been out of whispering range. "Blaze, I want you to focus on the front passenger side. If they try to get back in the car to escape, block them off. Tsunami and Opaque, get the rear passenger side, and block them if they try to run." If all went well, they would box them in and nab them before things got too hairy.

With tension rising, Leo cued up his spider agility and watched as the Jeep creeped closer and closer, until it was directly in front of him.

"Now."

”I’ll have you know I’m very dedicated--- though, only to things which are actually important.” Gym didn’t quite make the cut in that regard; he’d always thought team missions tapered into more of a grey area too, but in the absence of them found he’d been wrong, that he missed the action. Aurelie, of course, trumped the list. A crooked smile painted itself over the Slovenian’s features when the telekinectic kissed the corner of his mouth, and abruptly he regretted having to leave so quickly. ”Yes ma’am.” Enthusiasm traced itself in Dominik’s accent as he let Aurelie lead him from the room.

Arriving, the Omega found himself immediately feeling somewhat out of sorts among a crowd of Alphas, their faces and codenames predominantly unfamiliar despite some effort to branch out from the parameters of his own team. He could just imagineNarcissa scolding him for having ever entertained this idea, much less agreeing to it; some haughty lecture with an English lilt, stating again that he ought to just attend the damn gym class. Personally the Slovene wasn’t concerned so much about getting along with new teammates so much as he was about potentially falling flat on his a** in front of them. And, perhaps even worse, in front of Aurelie. The realization dampened his enthusiasm a bit. Given how rusty he felt already, working alongside unfamiliar faces would doubtlessly put him at a further disadvantage; he felt he needed to prove himself an asset rather than a liability.

Dominik limited his hesitance to lurking silently amongst his thoughts alone, features sober as he listened to Bella brief them on the assignment. Aurelie’s features twisted with sympathy for those they would be trying to rescue, her petite frame pressing further into his for support. Dominik only nodded, the movement slow as, mentally, he started to distance himself from those more complicated emotions. It was a necessary measure of control, an inward and quiet one; he couldn’t risk anger making his abilities volatile in the field.

In silent effort to comfort Aurie, he’d bent his knees enough to allow his chin to rest upon the top of her head; a gesture she was quick to call him out on. Again a brief smile cracked over Dominik’s features, though her view of it might well be obscured, ”Seemed a little more romantic than propping my elbow on your head.” He countered in a whisper, careful to keep his words from overlapping Bella’s. The latter motion seemed more practical, given the difference in height, but probably wouldn’t have been as well received. With a blithe wink in her direction, the Slovenian returned to his regular height, though left his hand securely in hers.

Aurie expressed some disappointment that Katerina hadn’t been assigned with them, a sentiment the Slovene couldn’t quite replicate. She’d warmed towards him a little bit in the last few weeks, it seemed, and Dominik felt quietly thankful that she’d enjoyed his little peace offering. ”Good. I noticed she’s cut down on threatening to kill and devour me a bit.” Though it was still frequent, to the point that every time their paths crossed he anticipated it. She wasn’t turning into anything particularly lethal each time after saying so now, at least.

Progress.

Eventually the two made their way towards Katerina, who’d taken to perusing the maps set out for them, an unfamiliar man (Julian) doing the same at her side. Along with Aurelie, Dominik had missed on the earlier tensions, but he didn’t need any context to know the other woman was presently in sore spirits. Aurie greeted her friend, and immediately the telekinectic’s gentle demeanor proved enough to lighten Kat’s mood, the latter facing them to make a comment about Aurie’s interaction with ‘older men’.

The Slovene replied only with a look of feigned incredulousness, gaze bouncing between the two as they exchanged words. When Aurelie mentioned money with a winning smile, the Slovene raised his shoulders casually, saying, ”In regards to me, you’re out of luck on the disease bit.” The brain damage was incurable, but not lethal.

Aurelie affectionately pulled him closer, Dominik more than happy to let her. The conversation segued into something more serious, Kat cautioning her friend to be safe before delivering a few threats unto Dom, which of course he’d expected. Again he found himself squeezing his girlfriend’s hand in reassurance, well aware that she harbored just as much trepidation about the impending assignment as he did, and for better reasons. He understood the worry laced subtly about Katerina’s threats as well, if only because they shared them. ”That’s my goal, too.” If he failed, he’d willingly deliver himself unto Katerina’s dinner plate, ”And much as I enjoyed visiting you Aurie, I could do without ever seeing the inside of an infirmary again.” A handsome smile spread briefly over Dom’s features, hazel eyes seeking Aurie’s in want to comfort her. He squeezed her hand again.

The blonde assured Kat that he’d be going in first, the statement dripping with innuendo when she mentioned getting to watch his back, ”Well,” The Slovene uttered thoughtfully, ”Better you than that other guy.” He’d referenced Dmitri, but in usual form had already forgotten his name.

Their attentions sliding back to the maps, Kat and Julian exchanged a few quips back and forth, while Dominik opted to keep his silence. He felt especially rusty on the tactical side of things, and being that he was attending to an unfamiliar group of people, wasn’t keen on doing anything outside of what he was told. Soon Bella approached them, extending a friendly greeting his way, ”Happy to be here.”

It wasn’t an entirely honest statement however, especially given how palpable tensions were with Kat and Bella in close proximity to one another. Why the two hated each other, he didn’t know, and in correlation with his general character he didn’t particularly care; as long as they kept him out of the crossfire, and preferably Aurie too. Understandably his girlfriend spoke up in polite defense of the shifter, and Dominik remained supportively by her side, albeit quietly, observing the interaction with an expression which could have been carved from stone.

Bella pulled away from their group, telling them to say their goodbyes, and the Slovene took one last opportunity to speak to the two as a pair, eyebrows raised just slightly, ”New picture for the dartboard, maybe?” It was all he’d offer on the subject, at least presently, the quip an attempt to lighten the mood as they departed from each other.

It felt strange to be called an Alpha, even knowing the position was a temporary one; almost like he’d wandered into the wrong story somehow. Dom strode after Isabella towards the portal, routinely glancing in Aurelie’s direction to make sure that she was following, at least until he made it through himself and sunlight briefly stole his vision. Everything in the forest smelled fresh, real; it was a sensation he’d forgotten to even take for granted, but now he’d steal a moment while the others gathered to appreciate it.

This beat the hell out of being stuck underground.

In words she permitted only them to hear, Siren instructed the members of their group in different directions. Allegra had been asked to dissemble guns and take gear, and Dominik along with Siege were sent to keep an eye on their perimeter; he brushed his fingers gently over Aurie’s arm as he left her side, throwing a confident smile over his shoulder at her when he went. Sparing a look at the others in their group and sadly only finding them vaguely familiar, Dom turned his focus outward, readying himself for whatever might happen next.

Nothing. Absolutely ******** nothing. That was what happened within the month or so since the X-Men had arrived in their new little home base, which at this point felt less like a haven and more like the Ninth Circle of Hell. It was just plain boring, and every bit as frozen as said circle of Hell. Inside was at least heated, but stepping outside for whatever reason ended up turning her into a veritable walking ice cube. South Floridians just were not built for this kind of weather, so for the most part she stayed indoors. Things actually did happen in the time that they'd been here, but they were nothing that involved her, so those things might as well have never happened. As always, Magda always went on about her beloved moose and how she had yet to find one, but other than that not much tended to happen. Most of that time Orchid spent it catching up on her drinking as well as her Netflix queue, and a few books from time to time.

Fortunately, today they would at least get to leave the base and do something productive. Or something fun. Maybe both, if she played her cards right. It was about damn time that they finally go out and retaliate for the s**t those damn sentinels put them, and more importantly her, through. She did not need much rousing to be awakened once she heard Narcissa's message streaming in through he communicator. Their spitfire leader called on them to join her in the armory, and that they'd be on a mission. Regardless, Magda felt the need to shout at her to wake up, telling her to get her a** out of bed. ”But I like my a** in bed. You would too if you were smart enough to join me,” she said with a smirk, before moving her covers aside and standing up, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. She took note of how excited Magda seemed to be, and she could not help but blame her. Leaving this little fortress seemed like the perfect remedy to both their boredom.

She moved over to her own dresser, picking out one of her many shirts she'd made her own modifications to, a simple pair of tight leather pants, and a pair of heels with skull and crossbones badges and a little bow over the toe. Next she worked on her make-up. On some whim, she decided blue was the order of the day, and went with dark blue eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, and even lipstick. Were she not already blue-eyed, she would have put on a pair of contacts to make it so. She even went as far as to paint her nails with some quick-dry blue nail polish she had lying around. As she did so, she let her hair grow out straight to about waist-length, most of the length of it blue, with some white highlights lining it throughout. She almost looked like she could be an Alpha, only without all the mental retardation. She went light on the accessories, choosing a corseted black collar for her neck, and her usual lip and nose piercings. She looked herself in the mirror and proclaimed out loud, ”Damn, I'm perfect. I'd totally do me.” Sure, she'd probably draw some looks in her general direction in such an ostentatious getup, but all Narcissa told them was to come in civilian clothing; she didn't say anything about needing to blend in. Over it all she wore a simple leather jacket, because she knew it'd probably be cool wherever they were going.

By the time she was done, she went out the door alongside Magda toward their destination of the armory. By the time the whole team had arrived, Emma Frost was explaining to them the parameters of their mission. It seemed a pair of mutant kids were being chased around by the MRD and their lapdog sentinels, and they needed to be escorted to safety. It seemed simple enough an assignment, though she was not exactly surrounded by a team of Stephen Hawkings, so no doubt someone would find a way to ******** this entire thing up. Hopefully they'd get to smash some Sentinels, though; that definitely sounded like it could be fun. And at shopping mall, no less. At the very least she'd get to stretch her legs out a bit without turning into a popsicle. Narcissa decided they'd be splitting up into teams of two-to-four, and immediately Magda looked in her direction. The girl asked if they'd be teaming up for this assignment, and Orchid looked at her slightly incredulously. ”I thought that went without saying,” she said with a light chuckle.

She shrugged as Narcissa announced their pairing, as if she were being told something she did not already know. She went along with the rest of them, through Gateway's portal. It was an odd feeling, walking from one place and ending up in another, completely different location hundreds of miles away. Like all things that dealt with mutants, it was one of those things that needed to be experienced firsthand to be believed. Outwardly, she played it cool and casual, like walking through a portal to another place on Earth was just an everyday occurance that she could not be bothered to even notice. But inwardly, she still felt like she needed to doublecheck and make sure they weren't just walking into some simulation. Punching a damn hole in reality and walking through it was a strange power to witness up close, even for her. She stuffed her hands in her pockets, waiting for Magda to join her.

Once magda stepped through the portal, Orchid crossed her elbow with the girl's, and practically dragged her toward the shopping mall. ”So, if you were playing hide and seek in a mall, where would you hide?” she asked in a voice just above a whisper.. She honestly had no earthly idea where to start. Knowing the X-Men, it didn't really matter; they had a way of just stumbling into situations. She mentally cast her bet on this mall turning into an all-out war zone within the next twenty minutes.
