Dashner's eyes widened and he felt like his mouth dropped to the floor.
"Wait... What?!" He felt the anger that he had been holding inside all of this time begin to rise to his chest. "What is your definition of beasties? Ignoring them the entire conversation just to talk to some boo you suddenly have feelings for?!"
He paced back and forth. "You told me..." He looked up into her yellow eyes that he had once adored so much "... That you wouldn't jump into a relationship for awhile! And it's been like, only a month or so! You've basically friend zoned me and took advantage of me! I can't believe you, Marceline."
He used her full name... A very rare occasion for him. He looked at her with both hurt and anger, feeling betrayed by someone he used to call a beastie.. "You don't even care about my feelings! All you're doing is jumping on my bestie, and I'm becoming the third wheel."
He looked away, not showing her that he started to tear up.

Gryff trudged through the halls of Monster High, brooding. Atomica had texted him from the Headless Headmistress' office, letting him know that she was running a mandatory supervised diagnostic for a minor emotional outburst that was only natural when your friend disappeared into some gross, public display of lowest-common-denominator humor for the masses. Now he needed to make sure that the inconstant school staff hadn't screwed up any of Atomica's processors. She was much too refined and high-class a machine for these monsters to put the grubby technologically inprofient claws on.
The mood of the school was dark too though. It fluttered on the edge of his senses: the concerned whispering of students, the glances into dark corners. Everyone was on edge, so it wasn't the least bit surprising when he strolled past an argument in the halls.
"You've basically friend zoned me and took advantage of me!"
Gryff jerked out of his brood and stopped to glare down, intensely, at the summoner of this ridiculous patriarchal platitude.
"Why don't you just go buy yourself a fedora, bro." he spat savagely, maintaining his glare for a few more seconds before stalking off to the office.

Marceline's jaw gaped in utter shock. She stared at Dashner, flabbergasted, as she felt a rage building up inside her that she couldn't hold back this time.
"Now you hold on for one second, Dashner Hawke!" Her voice resonated through the hallway, causing several monsters passing by to stop and stare. "F--Fiendzoned?! You honestly b'lieved I carried on this entire friendship just to get you to fall in love with me, just so I could spurn you for some other boo? Are you really that THICK, or just that self-absorbed?!? How DARE you triv'alize our friendship like that?! It's not my fault you fell in love with me, and it's not my respons'bility to accept that love either!"
A sizable crowd of monsters had formed around them, and she felt their eyes burning into her skin like dragon's fire.
"I knew you liked me, of course I did," She continued, advancing on Dashner and backing him into the wall. "But I saw the way you were with ghouls... you had no respect for them, and judging by the way you viewed our friendship this whole time, you still don't!"
Tears were beginning to rise up to her eyes; she winced, shaking her head and letting out a low growl. Locking eyes on Dashner, she pressed forward.
"And when it comes to Rorrim..." Marceline's voice broke a little bit; she cleared her throat and continued. "I wasn't lyin' when I said I didn't want to rush into something new. I wasn't tryin' to fall for him; I just did. And I don't even think he..." She stopped herself before her emotions got the better of her. "Look, if you were really my friend, you would respect who I choose to like, instead of acting like I'm obl'gated to like you! How dare you?!"
"Hey! What's going on in there! One side! Let me see!" Heath Burns' voice rose over the silence as he fumbled to see what all the fuss was about. Marceline sensed this was her cue to exit, and turned on the ball of her foot into the crowd, which slowly parted as she walked through.
"I hope you're happy, Dashner." She spat over her shoulder as she went to class, knocking her shoulder into Heath as she passed him.

"Layla."Layla extended her own hand and gracefully shook Jewels' hand, only to realize that she had just shook the ghoul's hand, with her own clay soaked hand. Layla looks at the two hands, squeezing the wet clay between their fingers, and she grins sheepishly, blushing."Sorry."

"And I hope you're happy, Marceline."
With that, he stormed right down the hallway toward the door. He blew right by Roswell, and Roswell looked confused. "Dash! Where are you going?"
Dashner looked back at Roswell. "Anywhere but here, Roswell." He then stormed out the school doors, running down the courtyard.

Jewels seemed unphased by the clay, she just smiled and carefully pulled her hand away, wiping the clay off on her already messy but fabulously bedazzled apron. "Don't worry about it, i'm used to clay.. and mud.. and dirt.. " She started to list off different sorts of rock and muds, then paused. "sorry... I get a bit carried away sometimes." Now it was her turn to look sheepish.

Marceline was already going to be late for Advanced Mad Science thanks to her fight with Dashner, and decided she was going to take her time walking to her locker, taking slow, deep, shivering breaths as she walked. Her shaking hands messed up her combo a few times before she finally got it unlocked. She rested her elbows on the bottom of the locker, and buried her face into her hands, allowing her the quiet catharsis she needed. Inhaling sharply and retaining composure, Marceline swiped tears from under her eyes, taking care not to smear her makeup. She had to at least keep herself together for the rest of the school day; after that, she'd be content to just curl up in a wad of blankets and cry through the freakend.
Exhaling another shuddering sigh, she reached for her AMS book with two steady hands. Out the corner of her eye, she could have sworn she saw a glint of red in her mirror, but nothing was there when she looked back. She closed her locker and went off to class, prepared to accept the punishment Mr. Hack had in store for her for being late.

Ascreama Poweurgh "Goosip in the halls is your boyfriend hasn't been showing up to classes today!"
The shock made the blob jump backwards in her seat "WHAT?! What do you mean Ronan's not been in class?" In the halls Vanissha and her friend, the three eyed ghoul, Eysees, couldn't help but over hear what was going on. "See? Called it. They are so in L.O.V.E. and I told you that first--" Dashner Hawke "And I hope you're happy, Marceline." "Ouff!" Vanissha was almost knocked down by a storming Dashner! "Hey! Watch it!" She was quickly calmed down by Eysees, who helped her back up right. "At least he's not going to the circus..." Eysees said, a bit relieved. "The circus. Oh no. Ronan! I know for abosulte certain he never would join. He told me that yesterday! Something creepy is going on with that circus!"
She pouted, fumbling with her hands a little.
"Ronan and Falconnie were supposed to meet me there! Now I guess I'm on my own since she just stormed out of here!"
"That's her brother."
"Yeah suuureee, 'brother', like you don't see it! They are so the same person!"
"What?! C'mon lets get to class." She rolled all three of her eyes, grabbing Vanissha's arm and hurrying to class.

Roswell look positively bewildered from the interaction between Marcie and Dash.
He was torn between them, and wondered who he should go after. By the time he made a decision Marcie left her locker and Dash had dashed off...
"Fangtastic. Looks like I'm going to be late for class too. I just hope Mr. Lou Zarr is a sleep again today."

Marceline reached the doorway to Mr. Hack's class just in time to hear the dead bolt slide into place. She groaned, dejectedly; this meant Saturday make-up for her, instead of her original plan of sulking in bed all weekend. Having no place else to go, she decided to feign a headache at the nurse's office until her next class, and hope that work would go smoothly tonight...

When the bell rang at the end of the school day, the students filtered out of their classes and formed their typical groups. Tomorrow was Saturday! Every monster was ready for the Freakend.

Sally stood under a tree, watching as the various ghouls walked out of the school, headed wherever they were headed. It took her longer than she had wanted to get to Monster High. But, she had only seen pictures of the school and she couldn't read a map. Not to mention she had to walk the whole way, only at night, and in the trees. Nevertheless, she was happy to have finally made it.
No one would be able to tell, but she was smiling.
Her tentacles hung low behind her, looking more like just a piece of her skirt. She tilted her head as she listened to the ghouls who passed. They always came close, but never seemed to notice her there.

Monday Morning.
It was a new week of school, and the students were abuzz like mutant wasps. Gossip about Howleen's 13 wishes was starting to die down, but it was rapidly being replaced by the crazy stories being told about the circumstances behind the Cirque Sinistaire. All of the students who had been affected by Hagetha Mistie's spell had been excused from the schoolwork they had missed and were working on catching up with their classmates.
Supplanting even that excitement, though, was talk of the upcoming Tombcoming dance. The ballot box for theme suggestions was becoming stuffed, and in between classes, it was becoming common to hear one student asking another to accompany them to the dance. The students eagerly awaited the upcoming issue of the Gory Gazette that would reveal to them which theme had been picked.

Dashner scurried into Monster High, ear buds in his ears, listening to his favourite Brittany Fears song from his iCoffin. He looked up and grinned, it had felt like forever since he'd been at Monster High.
Some of the latest school buzz included the Tombcoming dance! He wasn't as worried about finding a date too fast, dances are just as good without dates.
"Oh, what am I thinking?! Of course dances aren't as good without dates!" He exclaimed aloud, and Scarah Screams gave him a puzzled look.
