"A crown?" Seeing as they were here for artifacts, there was a strange gallery, and a death made him wonder. "So two people died, or someone thought there was a suicide where someone was eaten.....by?" He waited for Lawr to fill in the gap.

Heidi stopped to stare at Rep, Jordan and Harrison. "Any fool who makes Harry Potter jokes deserves what he gets."She was completely serious.
Tuck breaking out into song did bring a smile back to her face at least. "You're so weird." She squeezed his hand.

"You might be right. Maybe I should have joined another division." He joked, but something in his tone conveyed that he didn't mean it at all. With the punch though, he winced at the unexpected power. First the jab, and now the punch. "We're in an abusive relationship.." He rubbed his shoulder with a sigh. Still, it wasn't all that bad.
Her obvious annoyance at his lack of memories didn't perturb in the least. In contrast, Nevada and Alaska's childhood was clearly outlined. "Sounds like a great childhood. I wonder why you became a hunter then?" He idly wondered, waving for a nearby waiter to come and take his late order. He spoke discreetly over his shoulder.
Returning to the conversation at hand after a few moments, he pursued another topic that needed to be discussed. "There seems to be a lively discussion going on around here. I wonder what the story is..?"

"Oh! I see." Cass smiled to her fellow mist (er, the female one present. Funny it could be that kind of distinction now...) as she took her spot next to Marcus in the seat he had indeed saved for her. "So we're getting some new blood! That's pretty exciting." she looked to Ian and Dorian with a like smile. "It's nice to meet you both. I'm sure between myself and Candace you'll be alive at least long enough to get to see a few rooms in the base blown up or the whole thing go down. Either or." Because really, they'd lost the entire base, the kitchen, one of the bathrooms.....it went on and on. When Marcus made comment about Ian being a cousin that he had maybe slipped into conversation with her once between dinner and..other...activities, Cass gave the mist that really did resemble her husband oh snaps a slightly longer look. "Well, looks like we're in-laws or something then, I guess." she nodded to Ian, offering him her hand. "Cassandra Hasan. Already introduced, but I like to introduce myself too." Quietly to her husband, however, Cass leaned in and whispered to him, squeezing his hand once: 'I think you're better looking.'

Lawr nodded, still cautious about giving away too many details of what had actually happened in the gallery and in the events that lead up to it. He didn't want the other hunter to go off on another assumption that he was somehow broken in the head.
He pushed onwards
"A portrait ate her... I think."
She was sitting on the other side of the room. "Or it didn't. It was strange. The man with a hole in his head was certainly dead though. I don't understand it. I wish I could go straight back to sleep."

Kostya was saying something, telling someone, maybe Lucky, that he'd missed. Mimsy was aware of a presence on the back of the chair, then an small weight over her shoulders. Ah, she could solve this.
"Utilizing a basic motion equation, a minor adjustment to the 't' variable, where 'R' is consistent with the range of the object's motion and 't' is consistent with time," She displayed her 'work' on the tablecloth, writing with her fingertip. "We can assume that the launch velocity approaches zero, considering its point of origin and the minimal amount of kinetic transfer...accounting for the force of gravity..."
She gave Lucky a look that was better suited for breaking the news that she'd just murdered his pet, pulling the edges of Kostya's coat around her until she could settle herself within the warmth of the fabric.
"You should have used a five, not a three."
Tuck got a look of brief confusion as she skimmed over irrelevant words like 'favorite' and 'movie', until she finally picked up on 'black hole'.
"Perception of the physical properties of black holes is often warped or exaggerated for the sake of dramaticism - I would not so quickly discredit your understanding. In fact, even Einstein's famed theory of general relativity falls short of theoretically encompassing all properties of a black hole, namely its entropic thresholds."
She was focused on the table again, scribbling something that may or may not have been independent of her explanation. Hard to tell, since her finger didn't magically dispense ink.

Melvin thought about that, showing no hesitation in believing what Lawrence said. At the admittance of wanting to go back to sleep, the Lifer smiled. "Get used to that feeling. I've seen plenty of things that still make me think that I'm just sleep deprived or loosing it, but this is now the world you are in. Just be on guard. Some things are illusions created by....well, the other people." He didn't want to talk too much in detail with civilians around and made sure he only raised his voice enough for it to carry to the other man. "...while some are very real and very deadly. Just stick with the others and they'll watch over you."

Wilson could only shrug at Ryan. It's Dakota. he mouthed back like it was an actual explanation.
And then he leaned forward slightly as he held back laughter at Kat's teasing. He covered his stomach and visibly turned away from the rest of the group until he calmed down. "Aw come on Kat," he said between coughs and chuckles. "Let's not poke fun at these two, okay?"
Maebe gave Heidi a side glance, shaking her head softly. "Right as rain." She assured her, without changing her awkward expression. She poked at the table with her fork, barely looking over as Tuck introduced himself to the table. "Sup, speedos." She muttered quietly. Avoidance failure.
The table started to get a little crowded. She wanted to be interested, but she was still a little unsettled by the fact someone she hardly knew had the power to embarrass her in front of a group of people she was probably going to have to live with for the rest of her life.
So that was probably going to be on her mind until she could figure out a way to balance the scales.
Her eyes flickered up to the people across from her; new faces, new names. It was easier to focus on them, for a while. Out of sheer coincidence, she gave Harland a wink.

Clarice's lips curled up into a smile that had the server blushing as they discussed the wine selection. Not looking away, she slipped off her shoe to more properly explore the smoothly muscled curves of Clerise's leg. Finally they decided on a good Chablis Premiere Cru and Clarice turned back to the other woman, smiling with a soft flush dusting her cheeks.
"I fought Mark for the honeymoon suite," a slight smirk explained how that had gone. Wiggling her eyebrows a little, she continued, "I thought we could put it to better use."
Also honeymoon. Which gave Clarice a small a thrill, not at the implication of marriage so much as this feeling of being with this woman. Being together with Clerise in significant ways that they've only begun to understand, that she could spend a lifetime exploring and never fail to discover something warm and beautiful about the woman across from her.

Heidi blinked. "...Speedos?" She looked at Tuck, clearly curious, and then turned to Maebe again. Where did this nickname come from?
