"Thank you" Rem stated as she was given the map and the key she gave a small bow to the secretary before leaving heading to her dorm room, she was curious to what kind of room mate she would be with but given how nice everyone was to her she figured her room mate wouldn't be any different and was looking forward to the experience

Taro smiled and bowed his head when Rei gave him his key. "thank you very much ma'am" he said respectfully, waiting for Talon to get his as well since they where acting as a group for the time being. However when he heard what room he was getting he ended up letting out a badly held in laugh. "haheheahaha...I guess I won't be locking you out of my room after all. Though don't try anything funny ok?" he teased with a playful wink, deciding Talon would find out sooner or later, he'd wait until the best time to do it however, maybe if he ended up trying to be the lady killer Arisu seemed to think he was. Speak of the devil Arisu called out to them and he smiled and waved back. "Hey Arisu, we ended up swinging by to pick up our keys as well" he said, in hindsight it was kinda silly that Arisu ran off on them since they ended up in the same place anyways, but he didn't say that. When she called out some guy behind him Taro turned and looked at him, not having noticed him before. "huh?". Taro stood there the whole time the two went back and forth about how horrible pop artists and modern music was, with Taro standing not 2 feet away. "ummmm...guys...I'm standing right here" he said, forgetting momentarily that Arisu had no idea he was a pop idol. To be hones the stuff about auto tune and over saturated lyrics he could understand, because they where legitimate problems, ones that for the most part he steered away from, though he has experimented with using auto-tune in the past, there was nothing inherently wrong with it after all, it was simply a tool for making music after all just like any instrument, people just used it in lazy ways. However when Kaleo questioned his knowledge of music it really hit his nerve, since Taro prided himself on being a real musician. "you know when you go around talking about things you clearly know nothing about the only one who looks like an idiot is you" he said.

"Thank you," he said just as another student came up to receive their things. He was about to completely walk out when Taro confronted him. And he was just about to tell himself that avoiding the idol looked highly possible. "Oh, so the pop star accuses me of not knowing my own trade?" he puffed out his chest defensively but looked considerably non-threatening with his tiny little trumpet in hand. "I'd make a joke about this being a 'major development' but you wouldn't get it."

Taro's eyes narrowed at Kaleo at his big headed remark. "I don't accuse you of not knowing your trade, I accuse you of not knowing me. Make no mistake I may be labeled a pop idol from a professional standpoint but that in no way defines my range as a musician." he said, stepping closer, obviously not afraid of the little four eyed pipsqueak hipster. When he threw out a jab about him not knowing something as simple as what major and minor where Taro smirked and actually let out a small chuckle. "cute. A pocket trumpet I see. I'm not an expert on brass myself, I specialize in wood wind instruments, specifically the flute" he said, pulling out his own case and opening it to reveal a segmented metal flute. Within seconds he had it assembled without even looking down at it, and brought it up to his lips. He could stand there and argue his accomplishments. Tell him how he'd performed, and recorded, full operas, how he'd sat in with professional Orchestras and performed beside him. His more classical work was almost as well known as his pop songs, well...they where to people who actually bothered to look for them atleast. But in the end he found it was best to just show his doubters his talent first hand. With that sentiment in mind he began playing on his flute, filling the room with a soft melody

Yammato No Orochi
Survival Teacher

Location: Library
With: Patchouli, Hotaru

"they say you should never trust a snake...."

Orochi nodded in understanding when she told them she was basically just looking around. When she mentioned there being so many books Orochi chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "yeah, it sure looks impressive huh? though honestly it just makes sorting them all a major pain" he said, chuckling more. Having been made to help organize books since he was a kid Orochi associated anything to do with books with hard work. It didn't help that he never had been a fan of reading to begin with (he blamed Taur for that). He noticed the girl awkwardly fidgeting with her hair and blinked a few times, realizing they where probably crowding her. "sorry, if you don't need anything we'll leave you to yourself now. Please feel free to take as long as you need and make yourself at home here" he said, shooing Patchouli away, not wanting to stick around and make the girl feel needlessly awkward.

Hotaru looked up to him when he made a remark about placing them in the right place. She chuckled. "Oh, its not so hard once you remember where they are." she said smiling. Hotaru had knack for that. She even remembers all 40 chapters of ancient philosophy back home. Reading always occupied her time since she never really had friends to hang out with. When he said that they would leave her to herself she nodded her head and bowed to the both of them as she made her way out of the library. "The teachers seem really nice.." she thought to herself as she left the library and began walking around more. She felt a bit hungry and thought she'd go to the cafeteria to get something to eat. "Some tomato juice sounds nice right now.." she said making her way there.

Kaleo just let Taro go on, feeling pretty good about himself. The pop idol thinks he can play the flute. But Kaleo was shocked when Taro started playing. He sure didn't expect him to actually be a good player. Simple tune but good tone. Kaleo was actually conflicted. From this point he could literally leave his previous assumptions behind and accept Taro as the brilliant musician he was or just blatantly ignore the talent that was presented to him right now and stick by his guns. He took the latter, bitter path. "That was flat," he lied, having the gift of perfect pitch granted to him by listening constantly to people tune the piano in his how (which his mother insisted be tuned once a month, no matter how out of tune it was) let him hear that Taro was just on par when it came to the pitch of the song. "I would play you something but not only is the trumpet arguably ten times louder than the flute but I am at least ten times better than you and I wouldn't like to break your little cross-dressing pop star heart."

Also, the 'major development' relates to when, in a Sonata or any other form of music that involves a development section, the music modulates to a major key (having previously been in a minor key) to develop the theme.

Hibachi Rant

Hibachi's smile didn't fade when she felt the gun press against her back. "lucky? no such thing. I just know that any caliber round that wouldn't rip through me and hit you as well if you pulled that trigger isn't much of a threat" she said, basically due to their position if he did fire he'd just end up shooting himself as well. "here let me do it, a nice shot to the head is better than the back right?" she said, taking one hand from his throat and grabbing the gun, pressing the barrel against her own forehead. "come on then, do it, do it...DO IT YOU FURRY p***y! come on I dare you! do it! what's wrong? afraid to shoot a girl in the face!? Don't have the balls for it!? Or do you just like waving your equipment around without actually using it? I bet you just fire blanks anyways, and I'm not talking about the gun" she taunted, literally questioning his manhood. Although it seemed like she was just trying to psyche him out, part of her legitimately wanted him to pull the trigger. It would be a release from everything she's had to go through. Hell her programmed obedience to Grenga's orders where the only thing keeping her from doing it herself. "come on, your cocked and loaded aren't you? all you gotta do is flex your finger a little. Its not like it matters right? you where born scum to begin with, so its not like anyone else will be think any lower of you, even if you do kill a woman. So just do it! you said you could beat me right!? I'm giving you the chance to prove it right now. DO IT!"

(oh ok, so Cross softens the wall so Trent doesn't get hurt, but when Trent pulls a ******** GUN on Hibachi that's all cool then? wow talk about an unbiased spectator. I mean its almost like Cross is helping Trent on purpose......for no other reason than because both characters belong to the same person.....naw...that'd never happen, because someone would have to be pretty despicable to resort to that. (before you complain this is a joke) .)

Taro noticed the shock in Kaleo's eyes as he played, and had he not been so focused on the piece he would have cracked a smile. When he was finished he lowered his flute and smiled triumphantly, waiting for him to either admit he was right or just through up his hands and saunter off. However his actual response caused Taro's eye to twitch. "your a damn liar! that was spot on and you know it!" he growled. Holding back the mounting urge to turn him into a pin cushion of bones. When he came up with some ridicolous excuse for why he couldn't play something Taro took it in stride and a satisfied smile came to his face. "well in that case why don't you sing me a song then? wouldn't have to worry about how loud you where then right?" he said, throwing down his own challenge. "unless your saying you can't sing. I mean your a great musician right? so playing brass can't be the ONLY thing you can do right? They say the greatest instrument is the human body after all. How well can you play that I wonder" he said, giving him a taste of his own medicine. Taro may not be a master of every single instrument, but as a pop idol he had to balance between not just instrumental performances, but singing and dancing as well, which wasn't easy because unlike with instruments which you could get away with only playing one at a time, often he had to juggle all three at once.

Kaleo frowned at Taro's comment about the human body being the greatest instrument. "And who is 'they'? Certainly any great composer! And why would I sing. Obviously I can't compete vocally with you, possibly being a castrati." He placed his paper work and keys under his arm as he lifted his trumpet up, blowing through it to make sure there wasn't any spit in there. Luckily there was none. "But, if you really want a challenge, try this." He took a breath and started playing a tune usually reserved for, you guessed it, the flute.

                                                                pdragon619

OOC: Sorry if I'm going a bit overboard. I'll try and explain myself in OOC a little so you have something to go off.

Ok, a bit of explaining on this post. By saying that Taro is possibly a castrati is saying that he's most likely ball-less, that's why he can sing like a girl. Pleasant. Also, the pocket trumpet is literally a little trumpet with no variation in pitch. It should not be confused with the piccolo trumpet.

I'm having a whale of a time being musical here.

Taro smirked and simply shook his head at his ignorance. "its not your ignorance that dumbfounds me, but just how confident you are in your ignorance. Ask a man who composes for an ochestra and he will tell you the strings are the best, ask a band conductor and they may well validate your claims of superiority. It is human nature to believe our own specialty is the best. But I shouldn't expect a pompous, self obsessed loser to understand that" When he admitted he couldn't compete with him vocally (though ofcourse having to slip in a cheap shot at the same time) Taro sighed and rolled his eyes. "well you claim I have no talent, yet your own abilities are so narrowly focused it leaves to me to question where exactly you get off trying to criticize ME. I have done more, accomplished more, than you will ever hope to do musically, yet you try to use my status as a modern artist to let you feel like your somehow superior to me despite this, a vain attempt to trick yourself into believing you actually matter, that its only an accident that I'm famous and your not. That my popularity isn't proof of my ability, but somehow the opposite.....in laymens term your nothing but a sad, pathetic hipster who scoffs at whoevers popular just to make yourself feel better" he said. When he offered the challenge Taro nodded in acceptance. As he began to play Taro closed his eyes and listened intently, listening for any flaws or slip ups, there where non, and he wouldn't pretend there were. However the piece itself, while technically flawless, just really didn't do much. There was no emotion, no soul, no sense of inovation or true creativity. As a means of conveying talent it was fine, but as an actual piece of music it felt empty, generic. In laymen's terms it was boring, and technical mastery was no excuse for a boring song. "you play very well. There isn't a flaw I could point out in your technique. However your selection reflects on you as a musician. Safe, traditional, technically sound, very clean, but close minded, lacking anything to make it really stand out from any other piece out there. Basically it sounds like you played that piece simply because that's what song your instruction happened to teach you, not because it meant anything to you, not because it was something fun or interesting to play" he said, criticizing his creativity, not his ability. "fine then, I guess its my turn" he said as he placed the flute to his lips. However instead of playing a straight tune Taro actually began playing while simultaneously beatboxing (yeah you read that right) , merging the sound of the instrument with sound of his body to create a truly unique sound and style all its own.

                                                          aleo hanson

"Your point there is going against your own previous point. Because so many idiots think they can sing, they say that vocals are the best. But who are the masters of music? Who are the ones we remember hundreds of years later? Orchestral composers, that's who. And I bet you can't name any of whom were skilled in singing. They didn't need to be. Vocals were pretty much introduced to tell idiots who can't tell what timbre a piece is what the hell was going on in the music." He took a moment to revel in his argument.

"And safe and traditional? How is transposing a piece originally for an instrument where trills and jumps are common place to one that takes a more masterful hand to play them safe?" Kaleo scoffed. Though he did think a bit why he had picked that one piece. Ultimately, he did pick it because it was a flute solo, but was there so deeper closed mindedness about choosing something so inexpressive over maybe a more emotive romantic piece. Well, he wasn't a psychologist, he wouldn't know.

And Taro played his retaliation. Kaleo was impressed. Though it was a step back in tone (simply because of the nature of flute beatboxing), it was definitely a step forward in technique. But he wasn't about to express this opinion aloud. He was at war and, from his pompous point of view, was kicking a**. "Nice try, nice try. But what were you trying to prove with that one? I see nothing there of value. You just spat into your instrument while playing. Have fun cleaning that out with your cleaning stick." He pushed his spit valve open and blew out the spit to prove his superiority in that aspect. "I was thinking that you had great tone before, but now I'm not sure I can say that seeing as you tainted it with such unneeded vocal percussion." He again raised the compressed trumpet to his lips. "You want fun? You want interest? Try this one on for size." He started playing one of his absolute favourite jazz staples (about the first minute and five. It's what they call 'the head'). He added a bit of magic flare to add harmonies. Usually he'd count that as cheating, but there were no rules in war. He just hoped that Taro knew so little about the trumpet that he assumed the harmonies were just some uncommon brass player trick. It was known that brass players could play polyphonics with enough practice. When he was finished, he could only just restrained himself from shouting 'That's Ellington, beotch!' at the top of his lungs.

                                                                pdragon619

OOC: I KNEW IT'D BE THAT GUY! As soon as I read the 'beatboxing' part of the matter, I just knew it. And I find you surprisingly inept at judging music for someone who doesn't know much about it. I mean, Baroque is the oldest of the three Classical periods and is definitely not known for it's outstanding emotional power.

Polyphonics is basically just playing two or more notes at the same time. It's actually really cool. I know a euphonium player who can do it.

Also, everyone who just happens to be in the office is just enjoying this musical battle. Free show!

OOC: Crap, forgot to describe what timbre (just call it tone colour if you want) is. It's basically how the music sounds. Like how a clarinet can be more mellow than a trumpet but together you sort of get a new feel.

Welp anyway, nice to see you ive got to go and see other teachers and staff. Say hi to Kairi and Trent for me." Cielle waved goodbye and then teleported off.
She landed in the library. Her teleportation skills were way above mastered yet she still allowed some of the skill's wind to cause pages to rustle and flap, just to see the reaction of a certain person who spent nearly all his time helping around. "Hello Ororo" She teased, having the habit of self-assigning condescending pet names to people she knew.

An Olive-skinned lady(?) appeared at the school gates with a the sound of rustling leaves, the wind causing her white robes to billow around her bare legs save for some leather wrappinf around her legs in a criss-cross pattern. Her right hand tighting gripping a wooden staff with a moderately-sized turquoise crystal at the tip. Observing the courtyard with a somewhat deadpan expression on her face, she made a bee-line towards the front office. Ignoring any strange looks she got from other students.
Once at the office, she noticed a pair of students, bickering over their musical prowess. Although she certainly enjoyed their performances, recognising their talent, she dismissed them and turned towards the office lady at the counter. Patiently waiting for her or rather, staring directly at her in a sort of unnerving way. "I would like to register please" She said politely, even if it was in a emotionless voice that matched her face.
