His gaze drifting back to Argos, Nolan had indeed noticed all the scars over the Croconaw, and that was the main reason he had asked if the gator was alright, even though he was acting fine. But Chael was making Nolan wonder about Twill and if the bird was much too violent for him to control. The funny thing was that the huge aggressive power house that was his Gyarados didn't even enter his mind, and considering Dosu had nearly swallowed him, Nolan really did trust his Gyarados without a doubt. "Yeah, I'm not really ... all that hot about fire pokemon, but they are extremely useful to have around I've noticed." Servine snorted, and Nolan corrected himself. "Um, not that my pokemon haven't already saved me from a lot of pain." While he spoke, Nolan knelt down near Argos, making sure to keep his hands to himself, but he wanted a closer look at the blue gator and his scars. He only glanced over when the Ditto came out, and even Servine made sure not to look threatening. Sighing, he returned the pink blob, who continued ignoring him after eating the treat. "There goes that." he said. Argos let Nolan look at him, although he was almost on the edge of hissing. The gator just wasn't the trusting sort, save Chael. He'd be evolving again pretty soon, something his trainer found ironic. He had only just evolved and he was almost level thirty. "I'm going to head back to the Center to switch Legion back for Fear." he stated, briskly walking to the building with the red roof. His Pokemon stayed behind. (( Oh wow, he does evolve at level 30. Lucky. I have to wait until level 36 for Servine, similar to Hippopotas, but I'll have a Luxray pretty soonish. If 80 posts is soon. )) There was good reason why Nolan didn't get TOO close to Argos after all, he didn't want to make the gator mad. After Legion was returned to his pokeball, Nolan nodded at Chael and thought this was a good time to get a move on. "Alright, I'm going to see if I can find the Ranger. I'll have my Taillow keep an eye out for you so we can meet up again before heading out to the next town. I'd much rather go with someone than go it alone." Brushing off his knees, Nolan stood up and offered a small apologetic smile to Argos. "Don't give up being a fighter." Letting Twill out of her ball, Nolan gave her a few instructions, which she squawked at, angry. Yet when Nolan slowly backed off, she stayed where she had perched on a lamp post. She was going to keep an eye on Chael and relay any messages between the two of them if needed. Nolan chanced another smile, but Twill just screamed at him to leave already. Well, it shouldn't be that hard to try to find Lukas, right? Nolan started his search, first going back towards the center of the city with the fountain. Looking in the direction of the blue bird, he said "Hello. Where'd Nolan go?" The bird looked quite rebellious, so he kept in a polite tone. Fear was back on his shoulder, curious as ever when she saw the bird. Of course, she wouldn't get too close. Birds ate mice. Most of his team looke tired, so he recalled all but Fear. The Mouse Pokemon kept to her trainers shoulder. This was HER spot. And no electric mouse would take it! Because she was in the top percentage! Passing along the way, Gage did come across an Abra, but he had no interest in the Psi thing. He wanted something rarer or else he'd just start to waste his pokeballs. And those Sentret were everywhere. Strolling into Blyse, he tipped his sunglasses back down on his nose to hide his eyes as he searched the crowds for a rube with a pokedex. So now he'd just need some native or some well-traveled trainer to get him the information he needed. With all his pokemon back in their pokeballs, Gage did stop by the Pokecenter to heal them up for the next round of training. But he needed to know where he was going to go to find his favorite pokemon. Then they could get back to Eevee hunting. Just so happened he spotted Chael. Post 204 Thinking for a moment, Chael asked "Poison frog with its eyes half closed? I haven't seen one around here so far." He kept a Rattata on his right shoulder for some reason. It was your common rodent, purple and a couple bite moves. But she was different to Chael. She was in the top percentage. "I've seen the common birds, common rats, a Skitty, Meowth, Ralts, Eevee, Golett, Timburr, Blitzle, Solrock and Lunatone, Chatot, Tangela, Shinx, Dwebble, Ditto, and Snubull in this area." he said, thinking back to his journey over the past two days. "Well, crap. I don't even have anything good to trade for an Eevee." Gage knew about the Eevee being around here. He'd seen enough trainers marching around with them to know they existed in the area. A few of the others that Chael mentioned made his ears perk, yet they still weren't what he was really searching for to remake his old team. Gage gnawed on his thumbnail, and looked back at the kid. "So you haven't seen anything I've been looking for. Do ya happen to know where some others might be? I'm looking for Croagunk, Pikachu, Trapinch, Houndour, and Deerling to add to my collection." Gage finally seemed to really SEE Chael for the first time, and he glanced at the rat pokemon on the boy's shoulder - common as dirt. He choked down the scoff, because if this kid was a newbie, he'd for sure at least have a starter from the local lab. "Trapinch, sweet. I really like their evolution. You ever see a Flygon, kid?" Gage adjusted his glasses, but as he did he brushed his thumb across his headset to start a pokedex search for Zorua. It came up negative on the name. Sounded rare if the expert on rare pokemon hadn't even run across one yet. "And I can't say I've ever heard of a Zorua, but I'll keep my eyes peeled, deal?" "Hey, do you want make a little wager with me? Four on four, I only have four right now, but winner gets something shiny? I got this Water Stone, kid. You could use it on your Eevee to evolve it. That is, if you got anything good to wager, and if you manage to beat me? I'm really looking for a Electric Stone thingy, starter pokemon, or more pokeballs." Before he even had a chance to send out one of his Pokemon, Fear leapt onto the sidewalk (assuming they're near the Center, which is in the city). The boy raised an eyebrow as he sent out three more Pokemon to back her up. A Croconaw, a Timburr, and a Blitzle. Taking off his back pack, he took out a Thunder Stone and placed it on a bench. Then as quickly, he put his backpack back on... his back. "Winner takes the stones we're betting then. Fear, you're up." He said. The Rattata simply walked in a circle, already in place. Chael had named her after the FEAR tactic. In all honesty, he didn't even need to bet. Chael had more than enough items for now. But the guy looked desperate and he decided to humor him. For all Gage knew, he thought he was standing near the Pokecenter, and he bet it was fine they battled here just so long as nothing got permanently damaged. But damnit, this kid had a Croconaw. At least that rat was up first, and Gage did a quick calculation on his first choice. While he walked away a distance to give them room to battle in on the sidewalk and city street, Gage quickly formulated his attack plan. He plucked the first pokeball from his belt and tossed it, revealing the newly captured Sandile. Both fast pokemon, and neither should have the type advantage. Gage was willing to give up a Water Stone just to see what this kid had, but hey, might win with the newbie pokemon. Never know unless you tried. "Give it your all. The pokecenter is right here, kid, so no reason to hold back now." Sandile was the slower of the two, so that meant that Fear would have the chance to make the first move. Gage didn't let it bother him, and as the Rattata closed in, he knew what to do - now if only Sandile didn't let him down. "Bite for its tail, croc man." The croc lunged to the side in attempts to dodge the Hyper Fang, but Fear had the upper hand here, biting down on Sandile's middle. As Fear did, the Sandile whipped its snout around to chomp down on Fear's back legs. Gage wasn't impressed. "The tail! The tail, you idiot!" Post 208 The Bite didn't do as much damage as Hyper Fang had more strength involved. Otherwise it'd just be a Bite move. Managing to get free, Fear waited for her next order. Chael didn't like how the other trainer called his Pokemon an idiot. The boy was good at hiding his emotions, but Argos sensed the tension. The Croconaw looked at his trainer, with a look of concern. The reptile looked to the the other alligator/crocodile. That was like... his cousin. Well, species wise not actually. "Ok, great job Fear. Use Quick Attack." Chael said, making sure to complement her. He normally did that but he wanted Gage to hear it. All hidden under his serious face. Fear raced at Sandile, bracing for a swift impact. Bite inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch. 1-30 is a flinch. Gage required full compliance from his pokemon. He was the brains here, not them. They were the tool, he the master, and Gage knew where he drew the line. This Sandile better step up onto the plate, or it was as good as mulch in Gage's opinion. There was little room for mistake. "Bite the TAIL." Sandile was feeling the pressure, gaping open its jaws, and this time it did pause after getting smacked by the Quick Attack. Sandile couldn't take much punishment. It aimed and chomped down again, yet this time trying to get Fear's tail. "Yes, better. Hard as you can, 'Dile, hold onto that tail!" Yeah, Bite didn't do nearly as much damage as Hyper Fang, but the chances of causing a flinch was greater. Not to forget that Sandile was a Dark type, and knew exactly how to best channel that Dark energy in his teeth.
