"WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" The delighted shout had a faintly earsplitting, shrieky quality to it. Moira punched the air with both fists. "We get to stay~ay, we get to stay-hey! Ooh..." There was a pause. "Do you think we should form a search party to find the schemer dreamer plotters?"

... Who was she talking to? Shrug. But the headcrab zombie seemed to consider her own proposition for a moment.

".... Nah. They'll make it out in the wash. Anyway, I told 'em not to die." She nodded in apparent satisfaction before sticking her rotting tongue out at the departing Boogeymen and punching the air once more.

"WOO!"

"We did it!" Taryn yelped, laughing and giving an excited little hop-and-clap. The students had pulled together and saved Amityville from an unfair and entirely unreasonable closing! The Boogeys may not realize it and the town may not realize it, but they knew that what had gone wrong was no fault of the staff or the students. They were the only ones who knew for a fact what threats they were up against.

The ghoul laughed giddily at the cheering headcrab zombie and then decided to skip off and study in celebration of victory.

Why he had hung around the testing grounds even after he had finished his own exam was a mystery he may not have known the answer to himself. Whether he was still angry with himself for doing so poorly (in his mind) on his exam, he wanted to be nearby to provide support to any of his friends who needed or wished it, or (perhaps the more likely) he hoped to catch some glimpse or hint of what was really going on and why. Then again, maybe he just couldn’t bear the thought of leaving before he knew the fate of the school, perhaps even he was too anxious to anything but stand and wait.

In any case, he had been pacing back and forth, his tail twitching with each step, arms crossed as if lost in thought. From time to time he would pause, eyes narrowed, sometimes shooting a furtive glance at one of the boogiemen, his ears straining to catch any words that may have been spoken by either boogieman or Ammityville staff. However despite his efforts, he could catch no word of the news or hints he’d hoped for.

It was hard to say how much time had pass, or many times he had paced back and forth on that same spot, or how many times he had stopped to sigh heavily. It could have been several hours for all he knew, far more occupied with his own thoughts than the passage of time. What would happen if they failed, would the school really be closed down? Where would they go, what would they do? Arrg, why was this happening?! Why was any of this happening? Why were humans hunting them, why had hunters come to their world, why were they being attacked, and why were the Boogiemen insisting that everything was their fault and the facts they knew to be true were false instead of doing something about it? (He could almost swear he had seen this all in a movie before, oh how he wished this was a movie, or a bad dream he would wake up from at any moment).

His tail flicked with a snap, turning on his heal in the latest circle of his pacing. He was so consumed with his thoughts that it was several moments before he had noticed the arrival of the examiner or the resulting commotion. What was going on, what were they talking about? Were the results finally in? At the very least the secretary seemed seemed happier (even if he was hiding), did that mean they had passed? Or…

The tuft of his tail bristled, his body tensed, breath caught in his throat. For a moment he thought something more would happen, that the Boogiemen were going to throw them out by force whether they had passed or failed, or that one of them was going to take down the examiner and their secretary right then and there. Briefly he wondered if, despite their numbers, the students and staff of Ammityville would be able to stop the Boogiemen if they did try such an action, a thought that was immediately followed by wondering what the jack he was thinking to even contemplate the idea.

But nothing happened, and the examiner left without incident, shortly followed by the Boogiemen (after what were certainly some harsh words and/or further threats). Wait, did that mean, they really had passed? He was only left wondering for a moment longer, the results confirmed by the secretary’s proclamation. They –had- passed, the school would not be closed, not now, and if they had anything to say about it, not ever.

Sheridan sighed in relief, they had passed, the school had been saved. For now at least, they could celebrate a victory. Though something told him they would be foolish to relax their guard or think that this would be the end of it. But for now, for now he was going to celebrate with a trip to the library.

Nyyrikki had actually gotten out of bed for this. He'd gotten his lazy a** up and out of bed. Before noon. And had gone outside to await the results. It was a longer wait that he'd anticipated and he'd ended up sitting cross-legged on the ground, hood up and chin rested in his palms. Ugh, would they announce the results soon?

Just as he had the thought the examinations mediator stepped up and looked ready to say something. He held his breath, fear riding high in his throat. What if they hadn't made it? Everything would have been a waste of time. This school. The classes. The field trips. Red.

Oh, Red.

As the announcement began to ring out over the crowd he bit his lip and listened, not daring to move in case he jinxed it.

154.

117.

62.

70.

All above 60. All ranked excellent, if he remembered correctly. They'd done it! More than that, they'd obtained the highest ranking. He hadn't failed totally. He'd helped to save his jacking school.

Ugh, that sounded kind of nerdy.

In any case he flew to his feet in a fluid movement at Arel's words and jumped up with an excited shout. Amityville was back. He wouldn't have to go home and see his parents and their constant black shadow over him. He wouldn't have to pack up the dorm that he saw as more of a home than anywhere else. His minis could stay, he could stay, and he could continue to figure out what this relationship with Danny was. It was the best possible scenario.

Plus, he'd still be able to take his exam!

... Oh man... he'd still have to take his exam. The realization hit hard and he groaned. So much for celebrating. All there was to do was file back to his room and study for what would undoubtedly be a far harder test of his abilities than the standard exam he'd just taken.

Yǐn Cáng should not have been tense about the results. After having time to think about it, he knew that he had only been at the school for little more than a week, and the fact that the school that he had chosen for himself closing would not mean that he was a total failure. But so far? He liked Amityville, and ever since taking the exam his stomach had felt like it was in knots.

He kindof liked Ren, the boil that had shown him around and taught him that minipets were not food. Alexander was rather helpful when it came to ridiculous amounts of books, and they had made plans to train. Elle was also in need of training, and another new face at the schoo. Miss Danny, as highly inappropriate as she was (and dressed) was actually rather kind, as proven by the delicious smelling box labeled simply “Eva” in his room. Even Sparrow, had not been a completely bad sort of fellow.

Yet despite all of that he had managed to completely miss on his exam. So it was with relief when the scores were announced. He smiled to himself and remained lurking at the fringes. It appeared that he would be here for a while longer.
