The door clicks, and you can hear mechanical sounds in the locking mechanism. When it almost gets the the point where the unlocking sound should come, you here the lock slamming shut again. "Problem?" The voice replies. "You really should watch the paladin more."

As Steve types in the code, the door sounds like it is latching is locks shut again. However, after a brief pause, you hear several clicks indictive of a door unlocking. it cracks open slightly, as to allow you to push it further.

He stretched and nodded going and opening the door slowly then kicking it open and going through the doorway.

The room was large, and and had numerous mystical symbols etched into the walls. Many tables were present, all filled with what looked like equipment that are used for chemistry. By one of the tables, you see a man who seems to be scouring notes. However, it doesn't take long to notice that he is actually petrified. There is a distinct smell of sulfur that lingers in the air.

I cautiously enter the room and put my hand over my nose and mouth when I smell the sulfur. I look around the room trying to take in it's general layout, but I focus on the man when I see him. Realizing that he is petrified, I begin to wonder what could've caused this and go over to the walls to observe the symbols in detail.
