They might have been surprised, if not even caught off guard at the first attack, barely shouldering the second one, one hand fending off the next attack as they turned around. Though the reaper would have easily powered them one on one, there were just too many attacking at once for them to deal with at a time. The opponent took each hit with a strange sort of precision, blocking off some of the damage, taking hits from the others, while staring at their watch the entire time. They weren't even trying.

At last, a fair distance from the assaults, the reaper took one steady step, once again circling backwards. "One minute."

Their weapon lay in front of them as they waited for the students, defensively, ready, energy wildly flickering like a defensive shield around them. Noone dared to attack. "Thirty seconds." Another step back.

And as the students waited, most likely extremely confused, the reaper continued counting. "Ten seconds."

"Nine."

A pause.

"Three, two, one-"

BANG. The whole school suddenly quavered, the windows raining glass, the walls crumbling around the edges, concrete and debris spilling everywhere, as the ground trembled, splitting into two, a large ten-foot wide chasm split between the students and the reaper.

"Zero."

Only the reaper stood on the other side of the chasm. He turned, and simply twisted the knob behind him. With a groan, the gymnasium door shuddered and yielded, barely hanging from its hinges. Within the dark abyss beyond the door lay something blue, glowing, covered in runes, not unlike the portal set up at the beginning of the island.

Just before they walked into the unlocked gym door, the reaper turned, and gave the group a little bow. "Well, it was nice knowing you, thanks for your little love bites I always enjoy a good scuffle. My friends are coming to get you, it'll be over soon, thanks for being such compliant bait."

The last impression of them was the clack clack clack of their boots as the strode into the darkness and disappeared into the glowing portal.

((OOC:

BOSS FIGHT PHASE 3: COMPLETE

- The boss has been DEFEATED, but what exactly are they implying?
- Who is trying to get them?
- Students have an option of waiting it out or trying to cross the chasm to the other side. If they want to try to cross, roll a 6-sided dice. If even, they make it, and can examine the portal if odd, they will instantly die. That means a KO, HP zero.
- However students who wait it out have to avoid the falling debris. Roll two 6-sided dice, this is the damage you do to yourself. This applies to everyone who doesn't cross the chasm.
- Once again, if you die, make sure you post here
- Good luck! ))

Unable to stand, thanks to the cheap shot beforehand, Mei had to practically crawl back over. "Jack dammit..! Why the hell is my FEAR always so damn useless on school trips!" She snapped, ranting to herself rather than anyone in particular. Pushing herself into an upright position, she stared, as if in a trance, as the reaper began their countdown. What the hell was he counting down to--BANG! "Mother of Jack!" Gripping onto the wall closest for support, she hauled herself up in time to stay clear of any falling debris. "s**t s**t s**t!" Why couldn't anything go smooth for once? Just for once! Was it too much to ask?

To top it all off, he was leaving!? The nerve of it all! "Bloody cloaks! I swear to Jack, if I--" Feeling something crumble beneath her feet, she didn't register what exactly was happening in time for her to react. The only thing she did realize, was that she suddenly felt weightless all of a sudden.. and that everything was getting uncomfortably dark. "..s-s**t.."

Mei fell into the chasm

When would the noise ever end? Or were his ears just still ringing? Bul wasn't sure but all he could do was watch the fight play out until the ringing stopped. It had to have been at least a couple minutes before the half beast was able to move again and pushed himself up taking a couple of deep breaths to regain his composure. It was then that the reaper ceased to attack and began to speak in such a mysterious way.

"one minute..." the boil repeated to himself thinking hard about what it could mean. Then the cloak began to countdown... this could only mean something big. Something REALLY really big. Bul braced himself and kept his claws out ready to cling to what he could in case he needed to and whipped his tail in front of him as a shield. But the only thing he could do when the school suddenly started to split was look around and be aware of the other students.

Bul was about to throw a snide remark back at the reaper until he watched Mei from the corner of his eye making a leap for it. "Mei WAIT! NO!" he shouted, and ran towards the edge of the chasm before watching her body disappear into it's abyss. He was absolutely stunned... shocked... he... just watched her fall into the depths of nowhere.. undoubtedly to an unfortunate end. "m... Mei..." he stuttered and shut his eyes for a brief moment feeling a tear swell up in each eye. Gritting his teeth together he let out a pained sigh before clenching his fists and opening his eyes once more.

Not usually the one to develop a martyr complex, Bul really felt like he was ready to die in order to stop this reaper. What lie inside that chasm... the half beast dared not think about. There wasn't time to mourn Mei's fall as the debris fell and chasm grew larger and the island seemed to be tearing itself apart beneath his feet. Bul would pay his respects in blood and reaper guts if he had to but s**t was about to get ******** this... ******** s**t." Bul spat at the ground before putting his pipe in the knapsack he recovered from before then crouched. "Gonna get your smart as watch and shove it through your eyesockets..." he threatened, assuming there were eyes under the reaper's cloak. Although they had disappeared, Bul would make sure to find them again through the way they had come and eyed the chasm once more. "Here goes..." he muttered before taking a good running start and lunging over the space, landing with a little less grace than normal but immediately springing back to his feet to examine the portal.

[FU DICE!! XD ]

Sarias made sure to aim a swift kick into Jove shoulder for growling at her, her foot twisting so it pinched the ectoplasmic casing of the ghost, making sure it hurt without revealing what she was doing. “Dam dog should learn its place!” There was no time for further action, the blast sent Sarias off her feet, her back landing heavy on the wall as debris and mortar fell about. Gasping for her winded breath she tried to let her body come to terms with the shock of the impact, everything hurt a thousand times over.

Wincing she watched through burning eyes to see the reaper walking out of view into the portal, her arms gently pushing up of the wall until she was standing, bruised and battered she let out a heavy sigh. “Am getting to old for this s**t…”

But what hurt more was watching Mei disappear. “…oh!” Her words failed her as she watched her fall from the gaping mouth into darkness below. The student who had spoken and aided her was now…gone. Bul full of anger and rage leapt across it as if it were a mere puddle, his landing scraping the ground anew as he investigated the portal.

She looked down at Seiji, she couldn’t tell how badly hurt he was. Maybe not as bad as her. She could feel a wetness growing across her back and it was getting harder to stand, she coughed and blood fell from her lips. Falling back to the wall her eyes landed on Tomoko lying nearby, the ghoul she had brought to safety, who was now protected by Seiji and the others. With a resounding sigh she pushed her self back up, a low grumble escaping her throat. “*cough* Is this a ******** nursery school or something!” She barked, trying to throw her arms to the sky as if looking for patience. “Bunch of idiots, *cough* the lot of ya! Bloody babysitting service…*cough-cough* s**t…”

She stumbled up to the hole, the bottom was obscured by the darkness the radiated from the unknown, it was smoking slightly, eerie in its presence Sarias swallowed the fear blubbering up in her stomach, but allow anyone else to she? Ha! If this was going to happen it was going to happen her way! Twisting around she looked back over at Seiji and winked, a smile once again creeping over her face.

“You still owe me boil!” she laughed blood falling from everywhere and with an ease born of grace and practice she jumped back, her arms out straight falling into nothingness to chase after Mei on a fools mission.

((FFF. So busy yesterday I didn't get to post, but I hope it's okay to pick she just couldn't get up and watched. I don't know how often I'll be able to continue posting. >n< ))

She felt so useless. Colette couldn't manage get up so soon after such a surprise blow to the back, and all she could do was try to sit up and watch the battle continue without her. She couldn't believe how easily he opened the door -- just like that! After they had gone through so much to open the thing. And then he had mocked them, safe on the other side of a huge gap. She was more than angry.

"Damn it," she mumbled. Colette staggered up best she could and looked at her options. Chase after him or stay here and try to avoid all the shattered glass and crap falling from the ceiling with whatever was coming after them? She wasn't sure she could even make it over the chasm after being knocked to the floor, but she had to try. Colette wanted revenge. Putting the wooden swords away, she got back as far as she could and ran towards the rift, attempting to cross the chasm to the other side.

Throughout traveling through the air, there was a terrible feeling in her stomach as she kept her eyes on the side she was aiming for. It felt as if everything was in slow motion. Colette didn't know if she would make it or not. What if she fell? What would happen then? It was nothing short of a huge relief when she landed on the other side, albeit quite messily with a thud. She first looked at the glowing object beyond the doors, wondering if it was the same as what she saw at the camp, but the ghoul couldn't help but look back at the students on the other side. Some were trying to cross, several were falling. She didn't know what to do or if she could even help them now.

Sin was just getting to her feet, clinging to Rosc, watching the reaper warily. Then the chasm opened and everything shook and her eyes widened as she saw...

"MEI! NO!" She tried to lunge her hand outstretched but Rosc still held her and Mei was gone in seconds. Gone...for good it seemed which just made Sin's heart beat rapidly. Terror filled her, she watched others try to jump across and looked at the portal her memory flickering. Like when they had been tricked...and they had crossed that long black expanse...the wooshing and moving metal keeping them from a portal so like this one. It had been the way home and now Sin's heart fluttered with an inkling of hope.

"Rosc..rosc we we should try...I think that's the way out..." but she knew...she knew she couldn't risk it. This wasn't like the first time, Mei didn't reappear back on their side safe and sound. "but...its too large a jump..." even with his wings, the FEAR had been drained from them and left them useless.

Her legs felt weak under her and she knew...she couldn't make the jump. She didn't dare risk her life and even if she made it Alcie and Rosc would have to as well...and they might...NO. Better to stay put and face what came together then to throw their fates to the chance they they might have the strength left to make the jump or not.

Still there was danger a chunk of the ceiling cracked and Sin shoves Rosc and tried to dive back. Of course in heels, injured, weak, tired...she only managed to fall back. The chunk fell and cracked over her legs and Sin gave a startled cry of pain before scrambling up to stand. Oh jack...oh jack it hurt...everything hurt. She swayed warily on her feet and looked around tiredly trying to relocate and get near Alcyone and Rosc.

It seemed, yet again, that the battle was drawing to a close and West stood triumphant, of cou--

BOOM

The world went white as the wrath demon was rudely knocked to the ground... again... but he found that this time he couldn't get up as easily as he had before. His good arm was trapped under what could only be a sizable chunk of the ceiling and everything was sort of swimmy, from the wavering bodies of his fellow students to the reaper. The reaper who was leaving. Leaving? b*****d. West tried to tug his arm back toward his body for a moment, but it didn't budge. Warmth trickled from his scalp and soaked into his hood as his eyes fell closed. Just five more minutes, mom.

But then he felt it.

The.

Anger?

It burst forth from Mei before she fell, a delicious spark of life that warmed West's blood and helped him to force his eyes open again. He blinked blearily as another jolt of energy rushed from Bul, then Sarias, then...

He pushed at the cement block with his cast, suddenly a great deal more determined to wake up. There was a reaper that needed killing and, by Jack, he was going to get in a couple of punches, even if he kind of felt like puking.

West rose slowly to his feet. The room buckled and swayed. That... wasn't good, but he had no choice but to deal with it for now. There was a chasm? That was new. Students on the other side... Bul, Raziel, Colette. As much as he wanted to take a running leap across the thing and join them, he wasn't addled enough to think he would make it. Maybe that's where those other two ghouls had gon...oh. Yeah, probably. For the first time this trip, a hint of regret pinched the boil's brain, but it was gone as soon as it had arrived. All those Jackholes who died running from fighting the Death Charm in Christmas Town had come home again, right? Right? He was not getting killed by some pack of glowing fairy princess reapers, not now, not ever. Not when he could have met his end fighting Jingleberry. Getting killed by anyone less would be an insult.

West took a deep breath and squared his shoulders. "HEY!" he called across the rift, unsure if the others could still hear him. "Y'see anythin' useful ove'there?!" Now where had his bat run off to?

(( D8 nuuuuuuuuu))

-3- "Move jacking legs, move I say!" The demon dog was furiously rubbing the circulation back into his legs, he wasn't done with that cloaked figure yet. Listening to it slowly count off the minutes. If was so infuriating that he could just kick something! He told himself as he kicked the air, wait... he could move again! It was such a joy to be able to move out of the defenseless position on the floor as he sprung back onto his feet. -2-

"Ha, your not gettin' away that easy!"
-1- he screamed out in a rage as he felt himself lose bodily control. The figure was slowly inching his way over to the door with the key in hand. Damien could only watch in a hazy view as his body moved like a marionette on strings as it lunged past the broken doll toward the cloaked one with its weapon high in the air, green energy wrapping around the metal. And the poor boil could only watch in horror as the ground opened wide beneath his form. "D-damn!" was the only cry that came from his mouth as he tried to reach for the floor on the side.
He was reaching so far.
Just a little closer.
Closer never came, with just a brush of his fingers along the edge. Just as quickly as he left his body, The hell hound was rushing back into his form, the blood boiling rage vanished. Leave it to his vengeful personality to run off when s**t got bad.

-0-

Gravity was a cruel mistress, unrelenting, and merciless. The poor green eyed boil could only look up as he was falling, the light of the opening was growing smaller and smaller, as he saw a silhouette of someone leaping in. At least he wouldn't vanish alone he thought to himself, even though in the back of his mind he chastised himself for thinking such a gruesome idea. His ears were assaulted with the cries of shrieking voices, crying, gasping and wailing.

To follow up with unending silence.

Raziel had still been down on the ground after his last attack on the figure. He had listened to it taunt them, and his blood had slowly begun to boil at its very words. He watched in horror as the school split and he so very easily turned the knob on the door to the gym and walked right in. "Jack damnit!" he growled mostly to himself. The cloaked one was getting away and had doomed them to this side of hell.

While Raziel had kept his eyes mostly on the cloaked shape and the portal on the other side of the chasm, Colette had gotten up and begun backing away. It wasn't until he heard her heels clicking at an increasing rate while he stood up that he knew she was attempting to cross.

As realization crossed his mind, he screamed, "Colette, No!!" and without a second thought, ran and hurled himself over the chasm after her. He wouldn't let he go alone if he could help it. Tumbling hard to the ground, at first Raziel thought he hadn't made it, until he opened his eyes and still saw the portal only a short distance away, and Colette was there too!

It had been hard for Savior and it had hurt entirely too much. The Marrowstripe had only started to come around and understand what was going on when she started noticing students running towards something in the distance.

A few of them made it. Many more of them fell. They were all faces she should know, names she should know, but they did not register in the Marrrowstripe's mind. She simply didn't care for them.

It was with an agonizing groan that Savior pushed herself to her feet, her steps uneasy and her body swaying as she tried to get over to where West was, to where Holly was. She didn't know what was going on, only that things were falling and she was getting hurt, but Savior didn't know to get out of the way. She only knew she had to move forward and try to avoid the debris.

As Sarias returned with the little Kitsune the boil turned a grateful smile up to her, not entirely aware what it may have cost her to do something so terribly selfless, but he didn't need the ghouls assurances to know he'd owe her when they got home. If they got home. ********. That sobering thought was enough to leech the humor from his face, and he turned his attention down to the pup in his arms, slow to pick up on the growls that were radiating out of him or what they were directed at, but he tightened his grip for a moment. Giving the boil a reassuring squeeze before setting the pup on the edge of his lap. "It's ok Jove."

It wasn't though. Just as he went to reach for Momo, to pull her closer as well, the reaper made his escape. Opening the door they'd been struggling with so easily and disappearing into the portal as the ground they were sitting on began to quake and split beneath them. A crag opening between them and the door, the way out. Or was it? He could see the portal beyond, but it's soft glow wasn't half so welcoming to him as it was for some.

He watched, shocked, as Mei attempted the jump and fell short. Falling beyond his sight and disappearing, and from the cries of the others he knew. "No!" Why was this happening? Why were they here?!

Bul rose to his feet next, rallied at Mei's.. death? Was she dead? He didn't know, but the half-beast was certainly upset. "Bul," he wasn't.. "Bul!" He was! Sweet Jack he was going to jump! "BUL!" He Didn't know Mei and her lose had struck him. Bul was his best friend. If he fell.. But he didn't. He made it! "s**t!" Jerk, making him worry like that. "I oughta kick your a**.." The monster probably didn't hear that last comment.

There was coughing, heavy coughing coming from behind him, and when he looked up he was startled to see Sarias with blood lips, dribbling down her chin. Aw, ******** she was hurt. "Sarias, you better sit down." He actually moved the Pup in his lap to set him beside Momo, rolling up to his knees to reach for the banshee's arm. Fingertips brushing her cool skin as she staggered past him towards the hole. "Sarias." What was she doing? Getting to his feet he went after her. "Get away from there!" What was she doing?!

You still owe me boil

"Sarias!!" He ran forward, diving at the ground to make a grab for her as she fell but she slipped past his grip and disappeared. "********!" Crazy Jacking b***h, why did she do that!?

In all the excitement the jikininki had really failed to notice the continued rumbling around them. Not until a large chunk of the ceiling collided with the edge of the chasm right beside him, cracking the ground and causing the ghost to jerk away, rolling back on his heels and jumping up, head tipping back to stare up at the ceiling. It was cracked, raining dust down upon them, and even as he watched another sizable chunk fell loose and crashed against the ground. Well that wasn't good.

"Junko." She'd done so well against their foe, he'd been impressed. But now it was time to run, find cover. "Let's go, babe!" He turned on his heel, reaching for the futakuchi-onna hand as he made a run back for the smaller of their party. Fingers closing on the warmth of her wrist to pull her along with him to what he hoped was safety. When they reached their friends he dropped to his knees picking the Kitsune up in his arms before attempting to raise back up to his feet. Staggering when a heavy chunk collided with his shoulder and send him back to his knees. s**t, that hurt. They couldn't stop though, they had to keep moving. "J, Get Jove. We gotta keep moving, look for an archway or thick doorway."

There were others shying away from the portal, and the ghost found himself unwilling ti simply leave them. "Hey! You guys coming?"

The pup didn't see the kick coming, and he yipped out of surprise, immediately cutting off his growling. That HURT! She had actually kicked him! He was about to actually speak up about it when the ground shook underneath them, and he clung to Seiji in fright.

The reaper had split the earth. It had to have been playing with them all this time, to do something like that so easily. The pup whined as some of their companions tried to hurdle the void, some making it, and some falling short and, well, falling. He watched in horror as the scene unfolded around them, breaking free from his stunned state as Seiji was struck while grabbed Tomoko. Jove whined and scrambled to his feet, somehow miraculously avoiding the falling chunks of ceiling as he backed away from the chasm. He couldn't run for safety though, not with his friends still standing amidst the falling debris.

A screech, louder than the roar of the crumbling building, sharp, ringing with a stabbing pain pierced through the chaos. After an unbearably painful moment, just as students felt as if their heads were about to burst, everything subsided, even the shaking.

The figure was breathing heavily, one hand clutched on its slipping robe, the fabric ripped and beaten from all folds.

"These.... these idiots." The figure panted, taking one wobbling step forward. "Why do I have to help them, they are so much trouble, ugh." They jabbed one finger towards the portal behind them. "That is your exit, walk towards it, be saved. Or stay, I don't care, it's all the same in the end, I shouldn't care, why, why me, oh, I don't want to die yet."

As it took one more unsteady step, the cloak around them snagged on their foot and unfolded entirely. Several suspicious looking pieces of black paper also fluttered out of the cloak, but the figure overlooked them entirely.

"Please die, please die, please die..."

She continued chanting the same mantra as she wobbled towards the chasm, for a second it seemed she was going deliberately falling towards her demise, but her figure did not waver. They took another step- clack - and continued to walk an invisible path across the chasm. Halfway on the path, it turned around. "Please don't follow me, stay over there and die okay? Too much trouble... oh, too much trouble."

Sin was horrified to see the other cloaked reaper appear, no no was this it for them? Had she come to finish the job? Then she was ranting, escape, exit, confirming Sins hopes. She watched as the reapers cloak fell the papers looked similar to the map shreds found in the fog. Sin wobbled on her heels and grabbed the fluttering black scraps of paper and shoved them into her pathetic first aid kit. She wanted out now!

"Wait!" She tried to grab the reaper but she was already going walking across some magical bridge. She looked back at Rosc and Alcyone and then waved frantically.

"Come on, come on!" She turned and placed a foot after the reaper, terror flooded her for a moment and then she looked up instead of down. She followed step by step and when she was across she turned back and urged Rosc and Alcyone to follow.

"Hurry!" She wanted to get the Jack out of here!
