A'right, well that hadn't been so hard, he'd managed to hit the thing, who looked none too pleased by the entire affair, and grinning recklessly, adrenaline surging up in a way that could almost make a boil swear off FEAR, Sharra readied another shot, firing away. Honestly, it was at times like these when he saw why West had such a penchant for violence...there was certainly a thrill element to it.
Though why Professor Malcom was giving students the use of cannons was still beyond him...
...he wondered if the other ships were this exciting.

"Nice," West said under his breath as Sharra took his shots. The other boil with the snake had gotten some good hits on the squid as well. It still didn't seem to be particularly hurt, however, so he loaded up his cannon again and took aim.
The wrath demon suppressed the urge to perform a second victory dance as he landed another hit. He wondered how long their attacker would take to cook once it was downed because it looked delicious.

Mandy was dreaming of fish fingers and custard when the sound of cannon fire broke through her dreams.
Jerking up and flailing slightly she looked about the girls room trying to figure out what was going on before another shot rang through the ship.
What?
Hurridly getting changed out of her pajamas she made her way out into the hall before spotting the open yellow door. Curiosity taking over she walked through to see canons.
And a gaint, though less than the last, red squid.
Dots connecting quickly now that she was awake she let out a postivily gleeful cackle. This was more like it.
Rubbing her hands together in annticipation she quickly joined her shipmates in firing upon the squid. She had a competition to win!
And this time as far as she could tell no one was actually in danger! A bonus for sure.
Now, how did this go again? Stuff the powered down, put in the ball and light the fuse. Yup that sounded right. Taking aim she let off her first shot.

Harpoons, grappling guns, water pistols, cannons. Barth wasn't sure about the progression, but he had enjoyed the cruise so far, and he didn't mind the equipment.
Guns were a lot more satisfying than sweaters and wreaths.
When it came down to it, the engineering was something he could get behind. They were, by nature, minimal effort with maximum reward. Pull one trigger, reap a whole lot of results.
Or in this case, light a fuse.
Unfortunately, the cannon needed loading too. The fuse sizzled without the cannon even going off.
Barth looked at the heavy cannonballs. So much for triggers.
....They looked like somebody else's job.

Once again, West hefted a cannonball and dropped it into the cannon before pushing the whole thing back outside the ship. It appeared Mandy had joined them, and his usually fairly sedate sense of competition flared in the ghoul's presence. She simply couldn't hit the squid more than he had. It would be a travesty.
He lit his cannon as Barth entered the room after that, and West's expression flickered between amusement and confusion as the other demon fired a cannon without loading any sort of ammunition into it.
"Hey, uh, y'wanna fire this one?" he asked Barth, loading another cannonball into the cannon in question. They weren't going to get anywhere if the other boil kept shooting, well, nothing.

The water fight had been fun, and had helped out everyone's mood. Even the professor seemed to be in better spirits now. ---
The next moring, they had woken up to singing, a lovely little happy song, that made Myr grin. Well, it wasn't really happy, but it was fitting.
Then suddenly, another squid appeared, and Malcolm took them down to where the locked yellow door was. Inside, there were cannons, and Myr had to resist the urge to squee. They were going to get to shoot off cannons.
He only hoped that his aim would be better with these than with the water guns.
He waited until there was a free cannon, the one Sepheran had been using and then reloaded it. "Take that."

Huh. It had actually hit. It was a bit of a surprise, and he reloaded the cannon. This was a little more work than he had expected shooting a cannon would be, but he reloaded the cannon happily. It wasn't everyday that one had the opportunity to, after all.
He fired the cannon once more, hitting the squid for a second time. How was he being so lucky?

"Oh, err, yes, wouldn't want to err, sit back here and do nothing. Good thinking," Barth said. "...Ah, you've already loaded it."
Barth adjusted the cannon minutely, giving West a wobbly smile, then lit the wick. It, like the previous one, fizzled without any results.
"Darn," Barth said.

West shook his head. "Nope. Not when there's squids't'kill." he agreed, even though he was fairly sure Barth wasn't as excited about the whole maiming sea life thing as he was. He got the cannon ready for his own shot, lit it and... watched as it, too, fizzled like a sparkler on Arbor Day.
He scowled. Sucking at aiming wasn't contagious, right?
"'Ere, do'it again." The cannon was loaded once more and West stood at its side, waiting expectantly. "Or that," he added, gesturing at Myr. If Barth was bad luck, West would be happy to foist him off on someone else.

Myr reloaded his cannon, and then looked over at Barth. He was having terrible luck with his cannon, the kind of luck that Myr was used to dealing with. "Want to trade?" he asked. "Perhaps you'd have better luck with this one."
He wasn't too sure about that, but hey, it was worth a shot, right?

With some amazement, it looked as though West had actually offered to let Barth share his cannon. Huh, perhaps the wrath-demon really had made himself something of a friend that he didn't want to beat every five seconds. He'd really have to make inquiries later. Gripping the cannon tightly, he adjusted it ever so slightly.
C'mon, y'damned squid, he wanted calamari tonight! "Nice shots, guys!" He called over, waving a clawed hand.

All right, well he was doing well so far, so if things kept up in this fashion they might not starve. Not that that was the most pressing thought on his mind. "I'll skewer your tentacles, you nutty beasty..." He muttered under his breath, brushing hair from his eyes as he made sure his aim was steady. Thus far all of his shots had managed to hit, he'd see if he'd be as lucky with this one.
He really shouldn't jinx himself.

Disheartened by the miserable failure of that last shot, the boil growled, flashing a hint of fang as he all but manhandled the weapon, loading it once more in order to fire off another vengeful shot at the creature. To eat and not be eaten today, that should be their motto. Mmm...too bad the creature wasn't closer, in all honesty, Sharra would love to see bits of the thing disintegrating...well, the parts he hadn't intended on eating anyway.
The rumble of the cannon was intensely gratifying, to say the least. He could do this all day!
...maybe.

Barth looked reluctant at walking the galley to try another cannon, but ultimately shrugged and made is way to Myr.
"Alright," he said. "Loaded already, is it? You load and I'll, err," he adjusted the cannon again, this time with slightly more purpose. If not shooting was going to involve walking to all the cannons...he'd take shooting.
The cannon actually went off this time, and sent the ball straight into the squid.

"Shoot?" Myr suggested, watching Barth fire the cannon. The idea had worked slightly better than he had thought it would, since the Sloth Demon actually managed to hit it.
He reloaded it again for himself, firing a shot towards the Squid. It hit, once again, and he couldn't help but grin.
Reloading was tiring, but he did it anyways, and then moved out of the way. "It's all yours."
