It was late.

Night had fallen long ago and the cool temperature at best during the day had dropped and was now accompanied by a chilling wind. Malinois found himself out in the frigid cold running as fast as he could. He wasn't sure what exactly he was doing in the gardens, but he knew he couldn't stay in his room and had left the warmth of the dorms as quickly as he could. He was starting to slow now, though, he was more trudging than running as he passed the hedges. His mind raced and not even the stinging cold that was seeping into his skin could tear his thoughts from... from Mistuko. The night had started off magical, they'd danced and kissed and held hands and shared gentle touches... but he turned into a monster. Usually quiet and shy, Mal had more or less forced the other boy into compromising positions and claimed more kisses than he should have. He was appalled by himself. Mistuko had seemed alright with it all, but in the end, the ultimate rejection betrayed the possible resentment of the entire encounter. Mal couldn't stand the thought that he'd scared away the only person who had been nice to him.

As he passed a row of flowers the cold was starting to take it's toll. Mal had left his jacket in his dorm, it smelled too much of Mitsuko, so all he wore was his red collared shirt and black slacks from the dance and was completely exposed to the elements. His lips had turned blue long ago, the tears he'd cried had crystallized on his cheeks, and his fingers and toes were numb. Barely walking at all now, he wrapped his arms around himself in a vain attempt to warm himself up but it was too late. He felt his eyes start to close. He blinked a few times and looked lazily for somewhere to try and hide from the wind. A hedge bush was little help but it was the only thing nearby so the changeling moved towards it and sat down with his back to the brush. Mal pulled his knees up to his chest and wrapped his arms around them, huddling to try and increase his body temperature. Perhaps if he'd been more aware he would have heard the footsteps approaching...

Lillie looked at the moon and smiled. Nature was so beautiful in her eyes. It didn't matter the time of the day. It was all beautiful. She could see every flower in through and in her eyes. There were myths about elves. That they were creatures of light. There was no such thing as creatures of light or dark. If anything the pointed ear creatures were creatures of nature. The girl's heels tapped as she moved around. She was probably the only girl who would take care of the gardens in heels let alone designer heels. The cool night air didn't bother her at all. She had spent many nights outside when she was in the Western Woods. She made sure to wish each flower and leaf goodnight and ask them the matter if they were not feeling their best. If she saw something that perfect for a potion she would then pick it and place it in her potions bag that hanged from her hips.
She stopped as she her the patter of steps. Maybe it was her father or mother who came out of the apartment to look for her while the other cared for Abbadon. She then walked towards the sounds till they disappeared then continued to where she heard them last. She found a young man who was dressed nicely in the gardens. It was odd to see a student out this late and Lillie couldn't help by to see and learn what he was doing this late on a cold night. The elf moved towards the boy. Her heels tapping with each step. "What are you doing out here at this time?" She asked him as she leaned over him.

Malinois visibly flinched when the feminine voice chimed. It had startled him, and in his cold stupor he didn't have the steady mind required to control his reaction. The movement caused his arms to uncurl from his knees and he nearly fell over to the side but his shaky hand shot out to brace himself against the ground. His breath escaped his lips as white vapor as he steadied himself back in his seated position. Mal turned his pale face upward to Lillie and tried to smile but there was still something very sad about him. "I-I-I got l-l-lost." He lied. He was a creature of the forest, he was never lost as long as there was earth beneath his feet. He started to shiver so he hugged his knees tighter to still the shakes but he found his grasp to be loose at best. "W-what about y...you?" Mal tried to strike up some kind of conversation to take him mind off his earlier blunder but as the seconds ticked by he found it harder and harder to focus his eyes on Lillie's face.

Lillie's eyes widen for a minute or two as Malinois uncurled himself so he was looking at the elf. the vapor coming out of his mouth was a sign of how cold it really was. Goosebumps crept up and down the girls arms. She too was feeling the effects of the cold weather. He bones seemed to ache as he tried to sit up. She also noticed the shivers the other student hand. He was cold and she could clearly tell that. The elf knew what to do.
Lillie reached into her hip bag and pulled out a bottle that was glowing. Inside was a orange, yellow, and red swirled mixture. Elves called it mountain fire with the potions masters adding 'potion' to the end of it because it was not lava, but a like lava use. She placed the warm bottle in the boy's hands. "Here warm up." She commented and wrapped his hands around it with hers over top. "There now. You're lost right? I can help you. These gardens are like my second home." She told him. She smiled as he looked at her.

Mal watched curiously as the girl shifted through her pouch. When she produced a glowing flask he cocked his head to the side. Was it a special water for the plants? Was she the groundskeeper? Even when she thrust the bottle into his hands and pressed them together he was confused. His extremities had already begun to shut down and he had no sensation in his hands. When the girl told him to warm up, the changeling realized that the container must produce some kind of heat but he couldn't feel it. It didn't register with him that he couldn't feel the pressure from Lillie's hands either. He just smiled at her the best he could. When she offered to help him find his way, his brow furrowed. He didn't want to go back to his room, but he had no where else to go. He just wanted to stay away from it all. He wanted to forget about everything that had happened. Mal felt his eye lids get heavy again as he struggled to think of a response. "Th-thanks but... I th-think I'll just w-wait for... for... f-" As the cold crept ever deeper through his body, for its own protection it began to shut down. Mid-sentence, Malinois fainted and slumped over to the side, his hands unwrapping from the flask and sprawling beside him.

When Lillie's hands had touched the young man she notice how cold he was. It was like ice. It was really cold. Lillie herself had never been to such a cold place and she wondered if a place like that was even real. She would have to take him inside to warm up. Maybe with some hot chocolate. Then he spoke up. He was waiting for something or someone. Something was wrong and the girl could sense it. It was only confirmed when the other student closed his eyes only to not open them again and slump over.
Lillie quickly grabbed the bottle. Not wanting it to break. Mountain lava could burn a person if it was in it's pure form. Not only that but, the glass shards would not be fun for anyone. "Hey are you okay." the elf girl called out loudly as she touched his face. It was so cold that Lillie had to pull away. "He's frozen." Lillie knew this was bad. She could remember the word for it. She had to help him, but she couldn't just leave him. An idea popped into her head. She took out several leafs and things out of her bag only to throw it into another bottle. She then wanted out into a clearing. She needed noise and a way for a person to find her. She put it down and the dropped a little mountain fire in it. Once done she ran away.
Sparks and a loud hawk like screech came from the bottle. It was like a firework. This was how she would get someone to come and help her. The girl then returned to Mal and pulled out some more leafs. Stuffing them into the mountain fire. It would create a neutral potion that she could put on the skin. She then started to rub it over his body. "Warm up." She called out to him.It didn't take long for her father to appear at her side. He had his wand pointed at his boys chest and a stream going from it into the boys chest. He had heard his daughters words and had a guess what was going on.

Kihaku walked into the scene and went to the direction of the hawk like screech came from as curiosity got the better of him. As he got closer, he started to notice the lights from the sparks, which intrigued him to find out what was happening at that area. As he got closer he saw people, so he almost hid out of sight. But after waiting for a few seconds he started to walk towards them again. He began to get slower when he saw Mal. He almost slowed down enough to stop moving. But he soon realized that Mal wasn't "okay" in a sense. He started to move faster, but he wasn't unsure what to do, so he hoped that one of the two people could tell him what to do.

Mal was lucid at best. His mind a muddled mess of confusion thanks to hypothermia taking over but he couldn't move anyway. He might as well have still been unconscious. With the ever seeping cold, he could barely feel Lillie's hands begin to move over him. He'd missed the alarm she set off entirely. Unfortunately, the speed at which Lillie was warming up his extremities was going to cause more harm than good. Bringing life back to his hands, his blood began to pump again through to his fingers. However, this meant the precious hot liquid that was being designated to keeping his core organs functioning was leaving. Soon, his pulse overall slowed. Whatever magic the new figure was using was prolonging his life but if Malinois wasn't taken inside soon he'd die.

Len pulled Lillie away. The boy had stabilized and they weren't doctors. There was nothing more they could do for the boy. The half elf went to continue her work as if her father was crazy or something. Again Len stopped her and drew out his wand. He mouthed something. a brighter light hit the student before he disappeared. Then the man turned to his daughter.
"There is nothing more we can do. He is in the doctors hands. We're not doctors." He told her comforting her. There was nothing the could truly do to save him. They could only help him survive for a little longer. It was something that Len learned as a solider. He took his daughter away from the gardens.

Donny turned to the person who'd just addressed him, slightly panic-stricken. "Don. Can't really talk now, trying to find kids!" He explained hastily before putting his goggles back over his eyes, this time sprouting his wings and using them to fly high into the air. He yelled once more.

Alexander and Samantha ran abreast, trying thier best to follow Lyndis' lead behind Donny. Sam shivered in response to the cold weather, annoyed with the wind chill. Lyn, on the other hand, was enjoying the sprint across the gardens, at least until Donny suddenly decided to fly. She crossed her amrs with a sigh, a sign of her mother's attitude, as she yelled out, "No fair Don!" Alex smiled as Don spoke in third person, sure it was a reponse to the stress related search. His gaze drifted to the surrounding area, studying intently with a furrowed brow. It seemed familiar, like a place told in stories when he was a young child...Alex shrugged off the cold, keeping warm by sweeping her eyes across the bushes and flowers, hoping to find the children.

Valentina walked through the gardens, thinking. I wonder if I'll ever fit in here... she contemplated that as she walked, blind, through the gardens. She looked up when she realized she hadn't been paying attention to where she was walking. This place is so pretty... she thought. She continued walking, and started to play with her hair and sing her mother's lullaby under her breath.

Lillie finally stopped in the gardens. She looked around for a second before before pulling him to one side and under a large tree. Just out of sight from the main routes that covered the garden. "This is a nice and quiet spot that is away from the main path. If you want time to think or train it's pretty nice." Lillie told the knight.

The moment he had entered the garden with Lille, Yuri stared in awe at the garden, he had never seen one as big as this one. Letting Lillie pull him to the side, he let all the sudden colors and scents fill his senses as he smiled at her. "It is, but I wouldn't think this would be a good place to train..." He looked to a nearby flower and lightly touched it's petals. "A place as beautiful as this doesn't need someone coming along and swinging some weapon around wildly and risk damaging the flowers."
