Okay so it's my turn to rant. I just got the game a couple of days ago (mail is so so slow) and I haven't been able to play a lot (been really busy trying to get myself psyched up for APs), but I do already have some opinions. I just started Kain's story for the 12th cycle and all I know is that I suck at Lightning and Laguan, but absolutely love Yuna, Kain and my new main character Vaan. I do agree that the scene between the CoD and Laguna was hilarious and the voice acting was fantastic (including the little mumbles of pain Laguna makes when his leg cramps up). Honestly, Laguan's voice actor (don't remenber his name since it wasn't someone thats well known) has really brought the character to life, that and his spot on script.
As far the game is concerned, I'm kinda upset that there is no musuem like in the first game to view past cut scenes. I kept on looking through the PP catalog thinking that maybe it was unlockable, but so far, nada. I also don't like that you can't switch outfits in story mode (another deviation from the first game). I don't know about anybody else, but I'm a huge fangirl so I automatically unlock alternate outfits first. However there really isn't a point to unlocking the outfits so soon if you can't use them in the story where you usually battle the most at the beginning.
My last complaint is about the absurdly weird leveling curb in the game. In the story-mode you're going along fine then all the sudden you hit this gate that is suddenly too hard for you. Now I'm not adversed to grinding, in fact I'm one of its fans since I'm systematic like that, but in a game like Dissidia where there really isn't any respawning, its easy to get stuck at one of the annoying bosses (it's happened to me three times and I'm only on Kain's story). Then I have to exit out of the story mode, go into battle mode and battle until I reach a manageable level. Now this may just be me since I kinda suck with the system, but it just seems weird to have to constantly go back and forth, and is definitly not a problem I had with the first game. I also hope that as the cycle continues there is more interaction between the old cast and the new, since that's one of the things I was looking forward to (especially Laguna and Squall since I'm dying to see how Squall tries to handle his dad). Besides all that nit-picky stuff, I'm really excited about the rest of the game and shall be playing all during my spring break which just started yesterday.

I am all for battling each other and trading friend cards if someone figures out how, eheh.
I've got Laguna as my avatar, and my ghost is a Lv. 100 Tactician Zidane. And I'm blue! Haven't set up a party yet, actually, but it'll probably have Terra, Laguna, Yuna, and Onion Knight.
I totally want to start making quests, as soon as I have a looooot of free time on my hands... so probably not until my summer starts.
I agree that it's annoying not to be able to switch costumes in story mode. I mean, that's what I'm doing 95% of the time, after all.... It actually seemed nice at first, 'cause it only makes sense to have them battling in the clothes they're really wearing, storyline-wise, but... it got old fast.
I haven't noticed the leveling curve you're taling about, but... we'll see once I get to some of the characters I'm really terrible with. sweatdrop

It may just be me since I'm not exactly the best active-time battlerer sweatdrop It also could be that I just suck with the characters in general since I managed to beat Kain's boss in about thirty seconds. I've also just started to use Tifa and I'm actually really good with her. I'm more of an in-your-face type offensive player so the fact that most of her moves are close-range works out well for me (and now I get why I'm so bad with Laguna). Also the people who designed the algorithm for Laguna's high-level CPU were either just bored or trying to be annoying. Everytime I would get close to him, he would bust out Ragnarok Blaster over-and-over again. Sure its easy to dodge, but over and over again? No other moves were used! All it did was constantly cut down my much coveted HP and there was no way I could get close to him. Literally the first time I had to retry on a lower-leveled enemy sweatdrop *end rant*

Haha, see, I was not very good with Tifa, so that's that.
But geez, I noticed that with Ragnarok Blaster too! I usually just end up using longer-range moves against him at that point. It's weird, though; when I play Laguna I tend to spam Satellite Laser a lot more. The computer sucks at dodging it.

I've actually gotten pretty beast with Tifa. I'm no master, but I do understand her gameplay more. I looked up some strategies on youtube, so now she's more enjoyable to play as.
Squall will always be my main.
I do like Yuna's fighting style, and Lightning is awesome once you get enough CP to equip her Commando and Ravager abilities.

Psy Angelos What I absolutely DO NOT want is a Rinoa alternate for Ultimecia. Ohhhhhh, no no no no no no. No no no no. No no no no no no no. I love that as a theory, but only as a theory. It was jossed in the Ultimania, if I remember, but I guess it's still possible for them to go back on their word. Oooh, link! Can't test it now, but I'd think that all you have to do is unzip the file and stick it on your PSP; that's how the official DLC worked.
