Lt. Brookman Tau aren't on the menu until further notice I'm afraid, all we've got going on now are Dark Angels, 6th edition, Chaos Space Marines, the Empire and Warriors of Chaos. There has also been talk of the following armies getting a release wave: Tyranids (!) & Necrons. Also, there are strong rumours that Blood Bowl will be getting special treatment this year, with not two, but four plastic teams included in the box. Sounds a bit like they're dropping Tau, seeing as they are going back around to the first armies to be updated in the fifth edition.

I sincerely doubt that GW is going to drop the Tau, as they have a strongly established presence in the current background of the game, as with Necrons and Dark Eldar, you might want to be patient just a little bit longer. sweatdrop

Tau have perhaps the least "footprint" in the lore being very shortly in the Galaxy and by no means large empire. all it takes for the GW to send one particularly vicious Hive Fleet after them and we have "The Fate of the Squats" Still I'd be sad to watch them go simply because they were very different from other armies with their reliance on ranged firepower exceeding even that of IG, uniquely positive outlook on the Galaxy and mecha-like battlesuits...

Just think about it, both GW and FW has sunk a massive of resources into the Tau. Unlike back then, GW can't permit itself to simply remove an entire army from the lore, think of all those unsold plastic kits, think of all the failcost they can still crank out! The Tau have a strong presence and are here to stay, so no more of this "Oh deary me, the Tau aren't being updated any time soon, this must mean that they are going the way of the Squat" instead just look at the Dark Eldar and Necrons. They had to wait a long, long time and look! They got there, eventually.
Okay, new rule, the next person to say that the Tau are going to be squatted is going to be used as a punch bag by Paul and me.

If they won't have anything for tau this edition, it becomes concerning.

Lady Blodwynn ... are going to be squatted ... Can this be the beginning of a new expression/meme? But, on the current subject: Before the Squats was "squatted", 40K as a game was still quite fluid, i think even it was ok with non-citadel miniatures back then. The reason for removing the Squats, Beastmen, and some other odd types, now seems to me more like GW was concentrating their forces, streamlining the game, giving it harder edges .... And the ones they removed had no place in the "hard core" they envisioned. The situation now, is that that core itself, has expanded, making it much harder to remove an entire army like that. However, some troop variants and character types may still be removed, but Tau is still fairly new in comparison, though, so i think they are the ones that still has the most core-structure, so even removing troops and character types from them, unlees they are replaced, is very improbable. ... but that is just my guessings ...

The next person to question the future of the Tau will find out what happens when we stop asking questions and instead just start shooting. emotion_donotwant
Seriously, same old s**t, as if we didn't hear this when the Dark Eldar and Necrons were in limbo. This is how GW works, get used to it. 2012 is a busy year for GW what with 6th edition getting revised, the two starter set armies getting a new codex (Dark Angels and Chaos), one or two Fantasy armies getting a revision and let's not forget GW's forray into the Hobbit.
Now be good little space communists and know your place, your time will come.

That would be the "Dropped the Bridge", but I don´t see why not. <.< Atleast it has double meaning. :3in this case, dropped a Hive fleet on them... Anyway it seems with all the capital invested into production of sets for the Tau, we can expect that they are here to stay. GW seems to be driven by accountants today, which makes it sorta predictable. Best selling armies get regular updates (beakies...) while the side dishes get rarely updates, and occassionally WD minidex.

Lt. I'd be okay with a WD update for Tau and Eldar. I look at some Eldar lists and they can only seem to have one army style to win, same for Tau it feels at the moment. I'm okay though aslong as I have some good games with friends. It does get disheartening when Chaos and Dark Angels and Black Templar armies can do a variety of styles and things and just walk all over anything I want to do as Tau that isn't cheesy competetive style.
