Pausing in her step just as she reached the treeline, her head fell down to look to the leaves; reaching her paw to glide over the softness of them. His sincerity caught her off guard, and as much as she wanted to brush it off and keep on to home...she couldn't. Turning her torso she gave her own gentle smile, despite how her stomach turned painfully.

"I ask, because I wanted to know if you can really help me...but I don't think you can, Taylor." They were wise words that both he and her father shared, yet even if the glove fit; who wanted a mismatched pair? "Thank you though...its nice to have the offer anyways." ...and that, was truth!

His frown return as the sweet smile was not a good sign for him. Even still, her wise words where bitter to him. He crossed his arms and his brow furrowed beneath his helmet. Putting weight on one leg, he turned his head, his bad mood returning. "Whatever" he growled.

Why would he want to help her anyway? That's all he's done since he got here. It was like a bad dream to him. At first he thought it was ok, but then it just kept twisting and turning in on itself until finally when he thought it was over, it started all over again...

But what bothered him most about her dismissing him like that was...well..what else had he to do? It was almost like clockwork now. Then the one time he thinks he willingly offers help...she refuses it.

Turning her head back around, she was sad to see the almost friendly like behaviour they had been exchanging slowly drift away. Perhaps it was for the best though...it was hard enough watching her peers mate off and have children and being alone....but it was far worse to like someone sincerely and not have then feel the same.

However..... "Hey....Dutch. You should watch who you're nice to around here....unless you want females fawning all over you." Nariko said and left after; intent to get home.

-------------------------------

It was late afternoon, Nariko wasn't sure how long it had been...or what day it was. She'd been in the worst mood of her life regardless, and as soon as her stitching had healed enough she spent her days at her training tree. Clad in her armor she threw angry punch after punch, rounding a kick as the loud force of her attacks echoed around the cliff side clearing. Dirty, exhausted and visibly tense she felt the rage boil and bubble; until finally she cracked and in a fit of blinded turmoil she grabbed the bag and wrenched it right down....bringing the branch down with it as she jumped back just in time.

"Damnit!" She hissed, dropping the bag and shaking her head, storming to the edge of the small cliffs and dropping to a seated position. With her legs hanging over she dropped her elbows onto her thighs and hung her head slightly.

Needless to say, he plan of action wasn't working.

Why the hell can't I get him out of my head? Its been days and i've made sure to avoid him... Nariko thought miserably, sparing a moment to wonder about her parents and if their journey had been well....since she didn't even make it off the shore herself.

It had only been a few days and already, Dutch was feeling back to his old grouchy self. He even took a trip to the shop just to see how bad it was, only to find that any shown kindness was taken for granted. It bugged him more than ever to know that she was right.

As he returned from his trip to the shop he started to wonder once again. If his team didn't make it here, then where were they? Did they just disappear from all existence or did they just appear somewhere else in the universe? It was another puzzling matter

(Brief appearance of NPC)

A figure resting in a tree branch not far from Nariko's training ground looked over to watch the Vixen's temper tantrum. It watched for a moment speaking in a gentle male voice, each letter laced with a metallic sound. "What troubles you?"

"No matter what I do..." Nariko breathed, knowing her training was over for the time being with her punching bag torn off she reached up and let out her long hair from her bun. Smoothing out a few bits, it felt nice as the wind picked it up and blew it behind her; sighing softly in a momentary happiness.

Yet said moment was interrupted as she snapped her head back, looking to the treeline before spotting the figure...not sure what to make of it but at least it wasn't Dutch.

Frowning that it seemed the figure had been watching, assuming male from the voice; she didn't seem pleased in the slightest. "What's it to you?" Already she wasn't sure what to make of it all....yet she knew better that if he'd been watching long enough he would have witnessed the rage for sure.

finally arriving home to his cave he found the place was absolutely ravaged and torn up. "But..I don't have anything...Wild Animals couldn't have done this" he said out loud as he stood in horror at the disgrace of the cave. The Mattress was in shambles, so was the rug and his dug out for the fire place. He wasn't upset to much, other than he didn't want to go and beg for another mattress, but he still began to investigate the cave, seeing if there was a clue as to who, or what it could have been. On the floor, he found a single black hair that was extremely long. He knew only of one person to have a hair so long, and already he felt his helmet steam from his rage.

"You hurt that tree....." he said with a nod, red pupiless eyes seemingly fixating on her. " I think your rage should be better taken out on something that doesn't live and breath." he nodded. "Now..what troubles you?"

Turning her head to look at the branch laying on the ground attached to the punching bag, she rolled her eyes for a moment to herself. Oh wonderful, another hippy. None the less, she turned her fiery gaze to the figure once more and let out a huff. "What do you think the punching bag was for?" Given, her anger spiraled out when her punches and kicks had no relief...but still.

Grumbling under her breath, she didn't know why she was bothering with this guy...but none the less; she couldn't leave her grounds like this and wasn't going to risk having him follow her.

"Look, buddy, its really none of your damn concern...but if knowing will get you to leave then so be it." She shot him a look, before continuing. "Unless you have some kind of drug or potion or cure to get someone out of your head and heart; then nothing I can say will help my troubles."

Despite his anger, he was torn between marching over wherever the hell she was, or just staying here and fixing it. So he sat on the floor and glared at the room. But the more he focused on the mess, the more he felt that inferno tell him to get up and start moving. So, he acted on his anger. With hair in hand and a part of a torn mattress, he stormed down the path towards where he thought the troubling vixen was.

Not pleased with her response, he jumped down. Appearing as a small white armored fox with large horns and a ratty brown cloak covering most of his body. "So, you have feelings for someone....and that angers you?" he said casting a glance at the downed limb. "Explain." he kept his arms hidden by the cloak, and although much smaller than her, he remained undaunted

Feeling a grim outlook on the situation, and how she should just go tell him blahblah blah....well, she'd thought about it. Yet she knew she'd never be able to say those words, nor did she particularly want to.

"What's there to explain! Unrequited love, the mis-matched lovers, being completely damn wrong for one another but I've let myself get soft enough that it seems my heart forgot." She hissed, casting her gaze back across the lands before her. Sometimes....just sometimes she wished she could just leap off, only to feel the free fall feeling of the air ripping against her. However the dying part after wasn't so appealing.

"I'm angry because I can't get over him." Nariko said plainly, glancing at the strange little robofox in her peripherals.

Marching for lord knows how long, he soon felt that fire die as he realized he had no idea as to where he was. He accessed the map of the land through his helmet, but even still that didn't help him. "Why didn't I mark where that training ground was!" he cursed to himself as he scanned over the map. "Maybe it's over here! Due South!" he said as he looked south, set a way point to where he thought it was, and set off to find out, not realizing that he was just getting himself more lost.

He listened carefully and followed her gaze for a moment while thinking of the situation himself. Being level headed, he was quick to answer. "Perhaps he does not know of your feelings towards him and thus why it seems to be a mismatched relation." he spoke, turning his head back to her

"Who said anything that I wanted him to know?" Leaning her torso back with her paw on the ground, she watched him, dead serious instead of lippy like she was usually. "Listen, I appreciate your....efforts, but i'm fairly confident the anger, the arguments, the irritation we display to one another is as far from affections as can be." Curling her tail around her hips, she allowed her ears to sink back along her skull; having not a clue about the manhunt for her was even going on in the woods.

"I'm not a dense fox, I know I'm not very desirable; its better if I just forget about it. Having a demi acquaintance is better than going back to being alone if he gets creeped out to find I like him or something." Huffing, she watched the strange little fox for any movements. "So....yeah. That's what's the matter."

Having checked several spots, with no luck, he soon found he was exhausted from storming around. He sat on a tree trunk and shlumped over, taking his helmet off and wiping the sweat from his brow. It would have been easier where the day not so warm. He brought the hair up and stared at it, hoping that if he did so, his drive for chewing Nariko's a** off would return.

Saying nothing, he looked back over to the area she was once gazing at. He remained stoic and silent for a moment before shaking his head. "You are creating your own problems. Stubborn and hotheadedness will only get you so far in this world. And without anyone, then the solitude will eat you up, and then..before you know it. There will be nothing you can do." He explained rather solemnly. He still remained standing perfectly straight, with cloak only gently swaying with a breeze.

"You can't live your life alone."

"Thats it!" She yelled particularily loud, growling audiably in her throat as she tossed the stranger a glare. "You know what, i've been fine alone! I haven't needed anyone yet and I don't damn well need to start now. There no such thing as can't, I can do whatever I put my mind to!" Its how it had always been and if she damn well had to do it for the rest of her life well then so be it! Hermits were all over the place and they survived.

"You hear me, I don't need anyone, wanting people just hurts too much!" She snapped angrily...until something seemed to sink in. A need was technically a want....she needed to become strong and as much of a spartan as she could....but it was a want. A desire. A longing. "I....want...."

Visibly her eyes vacated, lowering to half lids as the weight of her words hung heavy on her shoulders. She'd been a mess since her mother had left....but it only got worse when she'd begun to avoid Dutch as well. The last time she smiled after she was left alone.....was with him. Again.....every thought somehow lead back to him, and the pain in her chest returned once more. Tearing her gaze from the stranger, she lowered her head and rested her face in her paws; trying to ease the tremble which threatened to encase her body.

"Feh..." he had given up staring at the hair and stood from the stump. He looked at his map as he tried to figure out where it was, but with his clouded mind, it was no use. So instead he just dropped the hair and the mattress, and walked along with arms crossed. He really had no clue as to where he was walking, nor did he know that he was actually heading in the right direction, he just knew that he had to go get another mattress and another pillow. Maybe move to a different cave.

His eyes fell to the ground. "Foolish. Just as the free spirit you are. You may say these things now, but you will regret them." he looked up and remarked. He wanted to reach up and put a hand on her shoulder, but he advised himself against it. "Take the word of a lost soul.....It's better to be with someone"

"Regret...." Nariko echoed, her paws trembling from her nerves as she fought not to break down emotionally. It was a word foreign to her until she met that ODST, and suddenly her days were filled with them; watching her words.....caring most of the time whether she upset him or not. "Have you had someone then, lost soul? Because I haven't.....I could live without ever knowing and the difference would be lost on me." It was true, but as she looked down the drop; something called to her.

Her heart had begun to race, pounding in her ears as the wind slipped against her face.....her back terribly itchy.

"You're right......" She breathed as she stood up from the drop off and walking back to the tree quietly. One by one she removed her armor plating till she was in her under suit, looking back to the stranger and the distant lands. "I shouldn't live with regrets...mother always said not to. In fact....there has been something i've been meaning to do for a while...." She grinned wildly, the adrenalin running through her veins as she stared off beyond the edge.....something telling her it was going to be alright.

...and Nariko believed it, and so....she ran; more than willing to push the robot looking one out of the way if he interfered.
