きゅうけつき そら すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび Sora unlocked her apartment and walked inside, leaving the door open if Tanzu wanted to come in. There was a sliding door that led to a balcony over-looking the village near the back of the room along with a chair and an easel. Anybody who knew Sora well knew that she had developed a love of painting since she was young and that she was decently good at her craft. So the girl sat down at an unfinished piece and picked up the brush. She had painted almost everything; the buildings, the people on the street, but she hadnʻt painted the sky. It was if Sora purposely left it that way. Even the shadows didnʻt exist. But that was going to change... because the sky today was the most beautiful sunset that Sora had ever seen before. And the shadows were placed just right....
Everything around her disappeared as she picked up the brush and began painting. The purple-tinted clouds and the dark orange sky... it was all mesmerizing for her. Maybe sheʻd sit and meditate for a little while... maybe. But she continued to paint, carefully applying shadows here and there on the painting in coordination with the sunʻs rays.

Tanzu shut the door behind him, breathing in a soft sigh...he watched in interest. He could never draw like that. The best he could scrape together were a few symetrical doodles. No, his talent was music. Especially the classical..."Hey, Sora...would you happen to have some sort of instrument?" he asked, his fingers aching for some sort of music to conduct...

きゅうけつき そら すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび Sora looked up from her painting once she was finished and not a second before. "I have a few." She stated plainly. Then she took the canvas off of the easel and propped it up against a wall so that it could dry. She would have placed it outside, but then the sand might have ingrained itself in the portrait and then it would be ruined. She beckoned Tanzu to follow her as she walked over to her closet.
Inside was a few boxes ranging in size from a ring box to a human body. "This is a shakuhachi." Sora said, pulling out one of the smaller boxes and opening it up. Inside was a wooden flute. "This is a Koto." She went on, pulling out one of the human sized boxes. The instrument looked like a long guitar body with strings attacked to it. It was very heavy and engraved with cherry blossoms. The next box the girl pulled out was medium sized. "This is a Shamisen." She explained. The guitar-like instrument was her personal favorite, and she was very talented with all of the instruments that she had pulled out so far. But the final instrument, the last box in the closet, was by far her best. "And this is my fatherʻs lyre." She said quietly. The wood frame was still holding its shape well and the strings were still all in place. Sora remembered the first time she saw the instrument... then she cringed as she remembered what her father had done to her afterward. The scar across her back was enough explanation for that.

Tanzu smiled lightly, as if he were moderately please with all of this. In reality he was overjoyed...when he had went back to his family grounds, he couldn't even look at the mass amounts of handed down instruments from past generations...his eyes could barely pass the sight of the place. Remorse, maybe...
The flute...when was the last time he played one of these things? He smiled. It was his third instrument to learn. Not too memorable...but his ani made it worth while...ten times as much of a player as he was. It may as well would've been his goal to master all instruments...he stopped at the lyre...his eighth...his light smile disappeared. To add to it all...it was almost an exact clone of the one dusting at his clan's house. He picked it up without hesitation, cradling it in his arm as he ran a light finger across its strings...he inhaled only once...and then he played.
For most of his life, he had spent his hours droning over the senseless sheet music, made from someone else's imagination. Where was the point in that in music? Those kind of things were meant for practice and orchestras...in his opinion. So then, he began playing off the top of his head, creating songs that were played only once by him and him alone. Truthfully that worked out just fine.
This song...this instantaneous melody he had created spoke of this vast desert. An endless plain, filled only with despair and hardly any hope. The song crescended suddenly, as if one single beacon of beauty let the narrarator's view broaden across the entire mass, to show that the rainless place was hardly beauty stricken at all...
"Just the opposite..." Tanzu murmured, just as he plucked the final note...he wondered if he should continue with another, but...

きゅうけつき そら すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび Sora was almost hesitant to allow Tanzu to take the lyre. It was fragile, and much more valuable to her than any of the other instruments in the closet. But she allowed him to take it and went to sit somewhere on the side so that she wouldnʻt distract him. Then the notes began to fill the air. Sora learned her head against the wall and closed her eyes, allowing herself to be lost in the tune. She could see the desert, the endless plains and the perpetual pain of the song. And immediately, she hated it. Once the song finished, her eyes shot open and she stood up to take the lyre back. "If youʻre only going to play depressing music with this, I suggest you find another instrument." She murmured quietly. The fact that she hated the song wasnʻt the reason why she took the instrument away. Her father had told her that music in the world should fill people with joy, not dread, and that any music played with the lyre should bring tears of happiness, not tears of regret. And Sora did believe, somewhere deep in her heart, that her father wasnʻt dead and that he would return one day. And being the man that he was, he would know the music played by his instrument.
With that, she placed the lyre back into the box and put it back in the closet. "Sorry... I have strict rules about that lyre." She apologized, but her voice was still bitter and hard. She wasnʻt angry at Tanzu, she was more angry at herself for allowing him to take the lyre in the first place. She should have known that he would have played something like that. So she pulled out the koto and sat down on the ground. Then she looked at Tanzu, as if saying This is a happy song, dammit... Play something like this. Then she began to play a more upbeat song, singing along with it quietly.

Tanzu scowled at her reaction. Was she deaf? Did she not here the high end to the note of the song? It angered him slightly, to the point of irritation. But...he refused to be any of those things with her, even if they had such sort of things differentiating each other...deciding that it was his turn to listen, he sat, knees on the floor appropriately...
Truth be told he loved this sort of music more than any other, and that hint of a light smile played his lips again...but...he couldn't. No. He most certainly could. But he only played what he felt...that kind of feeling of...peace, happiness, and wonder...and a scent of sakua petals to add. They weren't so occurring any more...perhaps this was why Sora...was beginning to hate him so much...he bit his lip at the usual spot, which was just about to heal...
He wanted to...to feel like that...

きゅうけつき そら すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび Sora ended her song, but the cold look never left her eyes. She didnʻt know why, but everything started to feel different. Why was she... doing this to herself? She was stressing, and it wasnʻt good for herself, or for Tanzu, or for anybody around her! Then she looked up at Tanzu, the look disappearing to something else, something... sad. "Tanzu... we shouldnʻt see each other anymore." She said finally. The words had already left her mouth, and there was no going back on them anymore. "I figured it out at Nagi Island at the waterfall. Weʻre not meant to be... Itʻs obvious... Iʻm sorry." She said quietly. Then she stood up from the instrument abruptly and went over to a stack of canvases, all of them completed pictures. After sorting through a few, she pulled out one. It was a beautiful mountain with a lone shack on it. Playing in the grass was a little girl with purple hair being looked upon by her father, a man with red hair and startling green eyes. "I donʻt belong here, Tanzu. This is my home." She murmured, gesturing toward her picture. "And Iʻm going back... for a little while." She whispered quietly. The entire time she didnʻt look up or look at Tanzu. She didnʻt want him to see the tears in her eyes.

...in reality...he kinda figured those words would happen...he stood shakily, as if the entire world lost its hold. But wasn't that what just happened? That single bit of ground, now tugged away from beneath? But not by her. By his own self. The one he and everyone else hated dearly...
Tanzu reached for his pocket, pulling out a single strip of paper...もくてき was what was written. Purpose. He walked closer, his own breath uneven...he leaned down, wiping the hidden tears of hers away. "No...you don't need to be sorry...who can blame you? The one apologizing should be and is me..." He smiled weakly, standing rightly again. He set the strip on the small table nearby, without looking back, so that she might not see his own..."Thank you. For a chance at a life, even if it didn't happen..." he said as he turned, but paused at the door.
"Funny thing is, though, is that I still find myself loving you."

きゅうけつき そら すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび Sora felt his finger at her cheek, but she made no move to even acknowledge that he was there. Instead, she just closed her eyes and turned away slightly. There was a slight rustle of paper, a single sheet... perhaps no larger than her hand. But like hell she really knew, she wasnʻt looking. And then the boy spoke, and Sora had to laugh a little bit on the inside. That was just like him, telling her that it was his fault and not hers when it was most definitely her fault. But she didnʻt want to hear it... it just wasnʻt something that she could handle anymore.
"Donʻt." She murmured in reply. "For to love is to destroy, and the more you love me the more youʻll destroy yourself." She whispered. Then she took out a kunai and ran a slash right through a picture that Tanzu couldnʻt see. And she was glad that he couldnʻt, because it was a picture of her family... her mother, father, grandmother, and herself. And in the back of the picture, behind her father, Sora had added Tanzu in because to her, he was already apart of her family. And because she had loved him, she had destroyed herself.

Tanzu winced, like the slash had cut him as well. Even if he didn't see it...'So...' he bitterly thought, the tears stinging his face, 'So much for storybook endings.' He didn't turn back. There was nothing to say anymore...nothing mattered...all that he had tried for was reversed...and the desert was once again a disgusting place for him..."...then...I'll be nothing but a shell by the time I'm dead..." he muttered, his hand shakily clasping around the door handle...
His words were just the wind now. Ironic.

きゅうけつき そら すながくれ|げんいん | ちぞけい | きゅけつき | えいせい しのび The door closed behind the boy with a dead CLICK. And for the first time in what seemed like a long time, Sora was once again alone. Shayera was still at the exams and wouldnʻt be back for quite some time. David was there as well. And she had just kicked Tanzu out of her life, pushing away the only thing that could destroy her. The only thing she had left now was herself, her paintings, her instruments, and her weapons. And soon, she would be home again.
Quickly, the girl went about packing her bag. She put extra clothes inside, her shakuhachi, her fatherʻs lyre, and her paint supplies. After thinking for a little while, Sora decided to leave her canvases here. She would buy some later on with some of her mission money. Lastly, the girl strapped her weaponry and placed them securely in their holsters. The Dragon Weaponry had to come with her since they were her main weapons. Besides... she felt so much more comfortable with her fatherʻs sword at her back. At least sheʻd have a chance against a Fuuton user.
With that, the girl walked over to the table where she had heard the paper rustling. A single slip of paper with hiragana scrawled across it. Mokuteki... Why? The girl ripped the piece of paper in half and left it on the floor. Then she looked around the room. Anything that reminded her of Tanzu... anything that the boy had given her previously... she took it outside of the apartment and threw it into the trash. She was going to come back to Sunagakure fresh and without any regrets.
Finally, the time had come. The girl slung her backpack onto her shoulder and headed off toward the Tower. But why not just run out of the village and head off toward the mountain? Because... the Kazekage may think that she had gone rogue and come after her. Lovely feeling that would be.
