Ivy scoffed. "I wont have to threaten him again if YOU took care of your responsibility and kept him in control." She flipped her hair walking away.

Nightmare rubbed his arm "what, its true...."

Tail wraps around Haur.

*snarls at ivy* He is not my child and he is responsible for himself. Only when things get too dicey will I step in. After all, I already take care of one big baby *glances at eric* Why the hell would I want two of them?

Dark walks in with a yawn "Hey every body."

Harley cart wheels in stops next to Ivy, resting an elbow casually on the plant mistress's shoulder "Heya Red! Miss me?"

Richard sits on an easy chair reading a news paper, seeming rather bored.

Lois: See Barbara You would have had other friends if you pryied your silly little head from your notes.

Babs: I guess so.

Kendra: You should really try sometime. Without the Bat symbol though

Think of it this way... How many friends does Clark Kent have? A handful, maybe? A few people that work with him.

How many friends does Superman have? There's a league.

It's really depressing if you think about it. Superman is kind of depressing if you think about it. It's like, Clark Kent isn't even real. Clark Kent is a costume, a disguise.

edit:: But there's the other end of the spectrum too, namely Rorschach. He wasn't born Rorschach like Superman was born Superman. Rorschach became Rorschach, but the identity of Rorschach is who he really is. I think it has more to do with what the identity represents to the person. Batman could let someone else be Batman, Spiderman could let someone else be Spiderman, and same for Ironman, and a ton of other heroes. They see it as an idea that must survive them, and thus they retain their true identities and occasionally let someone else take up the mantle.
Rorschach would never have let anyone else be Rorschach. It was a personal identity he took for himself, not as an idea, but as a force. He didn't dress up to fight for justice or even to put away criminals. He dressed up to get revenge on them, to impose his morality upon everyone and everything. I don't think he completely embraced this role though.

Screw it, I'll tell you anyway. When he realized the world was no longer black and white as he believed, there was a part of him that wanted to die. Rather than allow himself to change, he chose death instead and let Dr. Manhattan, who represented God, from whom all morals come, or whatever, smite him. He died so that his black and white morals could not destroy this new world. But he ended up surviving anyway in his journal. He let the truth out, even in death. Perhaps it was this knowledge that allowed him to accept death too.

I really don't know what I'm talking about anymore, and haven't for some time! razz

Stray I'm going to cut you down a little on this topic of friends because lets face it, regardless of what mask you where (and lets leave it at that because I'm not busting out the psychology of masks and identities) it doesn't matter how many friends you have, all that should matter is who you're friends are. One best friend for life is worth far more than 100 people that hang out with you simply because there is nothing better to do.

Clark Kent and Barbara Gordon may not have many non-costume friends but the ones they have are there for life. The ones that are in costume? Many of them they know outside the costume life which isn't all that different since lets face it... if you make a friend at work, do you deny their friendship because they are a co-worker or do you embrace the mutual bond you can share? Bottom line, friends are friends no matter who they are or where they come from. Don't measure how many you have, just how much they mean to you.

Bringing up Rorschach as an example is a poor choice because he is a unique psychological case. I won't bother getting into his story because any one who cares about Rorschach, knows the Watchmen story. Regardless, he still has Dan as a friend and that's all that matters.
