Ichite-ru Shujouteki

It's Just beneath the skin...

As Ichi stood there he jumped slightly as the grinding sound of the door emanated throughout the room that Ichi was standing in; The Genin remained standing in place as he watched the door slide open the remainder of the way. Ichi then looked down at the sand which had once been his gourd and did what he normally did; thought about it returning to his back as a gourd; but nothing happened at all; the sand didn't so much as move and inch. Ichi then lifted his hand up and actually attempted to move it; but as soon as he attempted to do that it clicked that when Shukaku was sealed Ichi had Zero control of any of the sand at all.

Ichi remained there for a moment before leaving without the sand; as much as he disliked it, and it made him feel completely defenseless which he pretty much was. Ichi then left the building heading out into the Land of Rice Fields.

Dark....dark...Why did everything have to be so cold and depressing? Would it kill them to put a few decorations up? I mean the coldness was convenient, but still. You'd think they were all reclusive mole maniacs. Oh wait...what did that make her? Gah...walked right into that one. This was all Seika's mind could come up with to distract herself from the real problem while being pulled around by Shun. This place was like a maze. If it was just herself, she'd probably be stuck here wandering the halls until she died of starvation...or wait. You can only last without water for three days right? It seems Seika was continuously and purposely bringing up irrelevant matters. How would you feel is somebody in your head kept telling you that you were going to die or WISH you were dead? "...Hey, Onii-sama. What is this place?" More distractions..MORE DAMMIT! Though to be fair, she honestly couldn't even remember this place, or the events that took place here. So it might have been just out of curiosity.

Shuniji was about to answer, but was conveniently interrupted by... guess.

He gave Seika a pitying stare and limply waved "hello" to Virus. This process had broken his spirit long ago. He may as well shut up and enjoy the ride.

...Okay, so there was no way in hell he'd ever enjoy this, but that didn't change the fact that it was happening.

"You know he's not in a good mood today. He lit Kai on fire earlier. I don't think he survived... in fact I'm pretty sure he's nothing but ash. Something must really be bugging him if he went out of his way to inflict that level of damage on a human being... deserving or not. I don't really envy you for getting to see him today."

It seemed like Virus had got it down too. The overwhelming smell of baked beans saturated the air before the two of them passed out. The cold of his presence where all that could have roused them from their deep slumber... and boy did it...
Someone must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed...

The pressure was actually PAINFUL this time.
The air itself was almost tangibly electrified,
pins and needles couldn't begin to describe
the overwhelming uneasiness that saturated
every inch of their body. It was more akin
to standing next to a blast furnace, you
could literally FEEL the seeping discontent
that lay beyond the thin metal door...

"...SSSShuniji-kun.... how are you been? It's
been far to long... I trust that you've been...
well?..."

The tone was harsh and unwelcome, like he
was about to snap at the chunin. Shuniji got
the feeling that if the Otokage "snapped" at
him there would probably be more burns and
a good deal more pain...

Shuniji woke up with a jolt. The shivers caused by the intensity of the room made it difficult as he sat up before pulling himself to his feet. He was in complete darkness again, but could sort of feel Seika's presence somewhere to his left.

Breakfast cereals aside, even Virus had been rather serious, which was unnerving in itself. Shuniji didn't want to be there, and he wasn't even the one with the hit out on him.

"..." Despite no chance of making eye contact with anyone in the vicinity, Shuniji kept his eyes down. He bowed as deep as his balance would allow him and allowed Seika's presence to speak for itself.

However, as the pressure of the room reached its peak, the Otokage spoke. Shuniji would have flinched, but his muscles were far too tense to allow movement. His posture was so rigid, he felt as though he may crumble should the Otokage speak again. (And he probably would. Spectacularly.)

He slowly and shakily pulled the ornate scroll that contained his mission requirements from his belt and presented it before the Otokage. He chose his words carefully.

"I have completed my mission to bring the Sound-nin turned Wairudokaado agent, Seika Cheshiru before you, Lord Otokage. ...Thus, I am well."

And he was well... considering the situation. A hell of a lot more "well" than Seika, at least.

"Very well... you have not overtly
failed me... you will be rewarded...
but firssssst..."

As he spoke a small, dime sized black
flame lit on Seika's left shoulder.
"Sssseika...you perccccicely as long asss
you can sssstay consssscioussss to explain
to me EXACTLY WHY YOU BETRAYED ME!!!"

As his temper flared, so did the mighty black
flame- bursting forth to consume her entire
shoulder. It was like he'd just poured a drop
of aviation fuel on the fire.

Seika woke to a familiar, yet somehow alien feeling. It stung, it hurt. This overall painful feeling caused her to let out a small grunt as she sat up. However, Seika wasn't quite ready to stand up because the pain was something she hadn't gotten re-accustomed to yet. When the Otokage spoke to Shun, she flinched at the amount of discontent in his voice. However, despite the obvious signs, Seika didn't exactly know it was the Otokage...until.

"I have completed my mission to bring the Sound-nin turned Wairudokaado agent, Seika Cheshiru before you, Lord Otokage. ...Thus, I am well."

Wha-WHAT?! Seika turned slightly, giving him a sharp glare. It seems I'm not the only SNAKE in here. She thought to herself with a dirty sneer. She KNEW something was fishy, that the blue man was right about him. Well, now it can't be helped, but she was still looking at him, thinking..."Rat". Filthy, CRUMB GRUBBING RAT! Oh yeah...Seika was mad, but she didn't say anything about it. Not now.

Her attention was jerked back over to the Otokage when he spoke once more. Before she knew it, her entire shoulder had been lit on fire. "G-K-AH-HAH!" Seika immediately collapsed from the pain, her head slammed against the ground from the sudden shock of being LIT ON FREAKIN FIRE. Her whole body shook terribly from the pain. She cringed once more, her fingers twitching- No...itching to put out the fire. "K-kyeh...I figured He'd send you, Shuniji. You were always so eager to please Him." Seika managed to grin despite the agonizing pain she was feeling. Was...she enjoying this? No-Not in the least. She was just getting her jab at Shun before she got reduced to ash. Not to mention between her panic and missing wire from her headphones...Her head wasn't on straight, however Seika was well able to answer the Otokage's question. Might as well spill it before she was reduced to rubble.

Seika took in a sharp breath, almost tasting the smell of her burning flesh. It wasn't pleasant...and not even CLOSE to comfortable. With great effort, Seika sat up again. This pain she was feeling was not like an ordinary burn. Try turning the dial up a thousand more degree's. At least...that's how she felt. "G-gyuh...The man that captured us...said he'd let me go, unscathed if I did something of great importance for him; Getting information on the tailed Hosts." She spoke with evident signs of pain. Seika had settled with clenching her lower arm as a source of comfort to help ease the pain, just like one would bite down on something hard to keep themselves from screaming or struggling. It...wasn't really working though. "I saw it as an opportunity to spy and get more information on the organization. I asked him to wipe parts of my memories to seem more convincing. Was I wrong to do something more logical than refuse and walk away with no information on them at all? I simply took advantage of a bad situation, Lord Otokage." She explained before collapsing once more. The material of her shirt was beginning to meld with her skin. Her grunts and moans could be interpreted as her silent screams. She wasn't going to give Shun of all people the pleasure of seeing her scream and suffer. Had the fire brought back her memories? Not really. her memories were jumbled, but she knew what the task was, and she KNEW herself. There was always a method to her mildly irritating madness, but it was clear that Seika was implying that she was doing this for the Otokage KNOWING she'd probably get him seriously pissed off, risking her life in doing so. Now it was time to pay the price. Maybe this is what her gut was trying to tell her. Well, Shuniji had said that she needed "Nerve" By god she went and pissed off the Otokage, but that wasn't nerve. That was sheer stupidity.

Shuniji stood at the far edge of the room. He knew exactly how this went. He probably wasn't even safe this far away, but still he remained in the room (not that there was a visible exit).

The shadowy flames danced in his eyes as they overtook the small girl. Had he really known her for over a year? It felt...

Empty.

Shuniji raised his head and sneered down his nose at the scene. It was so ugly; this horrifying, pink homage to himself being set on fire in such a familiar way. It was like a twisted work of installation art composed of contrived symbolism.

Shuniji's smirk deepened as Seika tried to talk her way out. He would've responded himself, but knew to let the Otokage have his fun. Shuniji wasn't disappointed as the flames fed deeper on their target.

This was what he wanted. This was exactly what he asked for the day, the second he realized Seika had defected and left him to burn alone. And then..! Back in the forest, she had said..!

"You'll never have to experience something like that alone ever again. I'll...make sure of it."

Shuniji's smirk became a full-blown grin as the irony of her statement came to light. He'd gone so far as to chastise her for making such a vague promise, but here she was, fulfilling it to a T without even realizing it! He was on the verge of crying tears of mirth, this was so hilarious! However, he settled with his quaking, unnerving grin.

In the false light of Amaterasu, everything suddenly made sense.

This was why you don't cling to pretentious ideals. This was why you don't make promises you can't keep. This was why you don't get close to people.

There is no one worth sticking your neck out for; no one worth such pain. People should be left faceless, nameless, en masse.

An audience. Shuniji had no friends or family. He only had an audience. They'd watch him and be amazed--enthralled by his every action, but they wouldn't get close. As long as they existed before him, so did he.

Shuniji's smirk relaxed and he tilted his head back down. The fireworks were getting interesting.

Who-what? A clone? She had no clue what he meant by that. Only because that was one of the few things she had forgotten. Surprisingly, she wasn't bugged by his words. Yes, they stung just as bad as the flames burning at her flesh, but for somebody who was raised to Tolerate such harsh words. She found it slightly more bearable than the physical pain. Seika winced and let out a cry in pain before speaking. It was getting worse. "Then I was horribly wrong by making such an accusation..However, With all due respect...I'm not going to give you empty excuses Lord Otokage. It would be wasting both of our time. I told you my reason. I was being selfish in thinking I knew what you wanted. I'm not going to make up something elaborate to save my own skin. Because then I'd be lying to you. That would be an even greater offense." She spoke solemnly, while her eyes reflected pain, anger and humility. Why? Why should she make excuses? To her, they were pointless and only worked to build up and blow up in your face. Sure, there was a reason for everything. But excuses are made when you try and mask the real reason with something less hurtful...or just. Pointless. Maybe...what was terrifying to her, was that she was wrong and ******** up bad. Seika wasn't going to sit here and plead innocent. It would just compromise things more. Being honest was just as bad, but at least admitting she was wrong and not batting around the bush would be more of a self accomplishment for her. Dealing with it was a whole different ballgame, Because Shun was watching. That made her very mad.

"K-KYAH!" The smell of her own flesh burning made her sick and nauseous. Her hand motioned to try and put out the fire, however she stopped herself. No-she deserved this. Why try and fight it? Seika strained to stay upright and continue this debate, but she doubted she would get far with that. Seika never intended for things to turn out this way, but maybe...the least she could do is. "I...I apologize on behalf of my careless actions. I-I won't- That's as far as she got before nearly slamming her head against the ground again. The excruciating pain was driving her nuts.

The fire was like ice now. The pain had turned
from a unbearable burning to a numbing bloody
pain so unreal that she was sure her very bone
was on fire. The flames had not crept across
her chest, down just to above her midriff. She
now had sleeves of fire that licked and cursed
at her wrists. Still, the Otokage was silent for
a moment more.

Then... came laughter. A twisted, sinister laugh
that echoed the whole room over. It was empty
and selfish, like the laughter was only meant for
his benefit. It was long and hard, lasting even
longer in Seika's mind. When the tremendous
laughter had subsided and her hand and stomach
where kissed with the black flame he finally spoke,

"Yesss... then you will be my little puppet ssseika,
a whore on a leassssh to taunt the likes of my
toysss... you will be my sssspy... like it or not...
and thosssse you may or may not have betrayed
me for will be the ones who ssssuffer anyway...
and when your usssefulnesssss isss up... I will
disssgard you like anyone should with sssomething
assss ussselessss as you..."

As he spoke, there was excitement in his voice.
He was still livid, but there was a touch of amusement
in his raspy voice. It was like sandpaper to the soul
as he told her his plans for her. Like his anger, the
flames subsided until his voice faded. When it was
silent again, the flames to where gone. Only the
memory of things transpired and the fear of things
to come lingered in the air...
