Poliwhirl was helpless, he couldn't so much as look at Vileplume right now without freezing up let alone dodge an attack. The green aura overtaking him and he cried out as the very life force was drained from his body. Vileplume's attack was strong and Poliwhirl could do nothing to resist the grass type attack. Instead he was left panting, finding it hard to move as he tried to gather himself. "That hypnosis almost had her. Poliwhirl, concentrate, make sure you get a direct attack this time with Ice Beam." Poliwhirl nodded, but when he pointed his hand at Vileplume and looked into her eyes his hand started shaking again. She just hurt him pretty bad, but he was sure she didn't mean it. He knew this wasn't true, but he just couldn't help it! His arm dropped and Poliwhirl fell to his hands and knees. He couldn't do it, he couldn't hurt her like that. He was so sorry that he couldn't follow orders, but his heart just wouldn't let him do any harm to Vileplume. He was overtaken by love!

Serenity felt the warm sun on her face as she started to wake up. It was the last thign that she wanted to see. She wanted more sleep. Sere attempted to role over again and found her self face to face with George. She smiled at him and put her arm out to pull him close. George nuzzled into her.

"Why do I get the feeling that you spent all night making sure I was okay?" She whispered in her pokemon's ear. "Could it be the fact that I feel as though I have not slept one bit?" George just nodded.

She smiled. "You know it is okay if you spend time sleeping too. It is nice that you feel the need to protect me, but there is nothing you can do while I sleep." She squeezed her pokemon. Suddenly the day didn't see so bad.

Serenity attempted to sit up, but the weight of the gown that she had on kept her held to the bed. She sighed. She wondered if Alex was awake yet. If she would be willing to help her out of this ungodly dress. George started to look at her funny as she wriggled in the bodice she now found to be too tight.

"You know I figured this was going to turn bad eventually." Sere hissed.

She attemped to swing around to get a hold of the zipper on the back of the dress. Maybe if she could get the zipper undone she would be able to wriggle out of the thing while it was on her bed. George gave her some more leway by getting off of the bed so she could turn a bit more. Sere smiled wide as her fingers grasped at the tiny zipper and moved it down. Getting out of the thing would be slightly easier now that she was able to breathe and move. George turned his back as his trainer got out of her dress and into a housecoat.

"I guess I should get myself cleaned up and head down for coffee." She said. She looked at her self in the mirror. "On the other hand...I still like the make-up. No sense remembering things that are covered."

Isabelle got herself settled in the room that would be hers for the night. Euri and Frank took it upon them selves to break the bed in by jumping on it. It was their new favourite thing. Last night they ended up lighting the bed on fire, and Isabelle had to find a way to put it out before it burned the whole Pokecenter down. When they started up again in the morning ibefore they left she warned Euri that if she wasn't careful she would poor a whole bucket of water on the pokemon's head herself. She was happy to see that tonight they had decided not to be nearly as roudy as they had been the night before.

"Alright you to lets go get our selves something to eat shall we?" She suggested. The two of them quickly jumped down and followed closely behind her.

On her way to the cafeteria Isabelle dropped off Sweetness' pokeball. She let the nurse know that she would be back for it after she got somethign to eat. The nurse gave her a friendly smile and assured her that it would be okay.

Euri and Frank at this point had figured out the routine enough to know that they were to wait at the table while Isabelle got the food for all of them. They also knew that they needed to be good or she would probably not allow them to eat until they had completely settled down. Isabelle made sure that she picked up everything that they liked, before heading back to the table.

"What do you two think of going to try for a gym badge tomorrow?" She asked them after they had gotten some food into themselves.

With that opening Flamethrower, utter chaos would soon follow it. The Shuppet, while luckily for Nova was also the weakest of the group, did not like having her face burned off by the small fire lizard, and after recovering from the scorching attack began to glow with a dark, shadowy aura that soon stretched out from her body and wrapped itself around Nova - a Night Shade. The Charmander cried out and struggled against the dark energy, unable to fend it off for the time being. Meanwhile, another of the Shuppet clan decided to make the timid Bayleef the subject of her attack, a sinister hissing sound that resembled laughter escaping the little napkin-shaped ghost as it vanished from sight. "It's using Faint Attack, Rosemary! Use Reflect!" Kasiya called, deciding it would be best to keep a closer eye on her two youngest Pokemon, lest she be overwhelmed by everything going on around her. Rosemary didn't hesitate to comply, swinging her leaf in front of her and causing a barrier of shimmering, reflective light to appear in front of her. A second barrier appeared in front of Nova as well, and Kasiya felt a little better with the extra protection her Charmander was receiving.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Duskull and Shuppet weren't about to hover there idly, and they too jumped into action, seemingly picking whatever target was closest. One of the Duskull launched a murky Night Shade at Twilight, who also seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the sudden chaos surrounding him. Realizing what was happening at the last second he crouched low into a defensive position, concentrating in order to send up a glowing, green barrier that appeared just in the nick of time. The dark aura washed up against it but fizzled out, and though his Protect had worked, Twilight knew this was just the beginning.

Leviathan and Digger stood back to back as two Shuppet and one of the Duskull had surrounded them, the Duskull occasionally phasing in and out of visibility as it directed a ghostly arm towards the two Ground-types, sending the two Shuppet on the attack. The first one sent out a Night Shade at Digger, and there wasn't anything the mouse Pokemon could do to stop it. He growled and fought off the attack before jumping up and sending a barrage Swift stars at the opposing ghost, though the Normal-type attack did nothing. The Marshtomp was quick to point this out to the Sandslash, who nodded, realizing that he'd have to rethink his strategy. Levi, meanwhile, had been watching the second Shuppet carefully as it flew at her, releasing a ring of blue flames in her direction - Will-o-Wisp. Levi reared back and loosed a strong Water Gun, dousing the oncoming flames and striking the napkin-shaped ghost square in the chest.

Last, but certainly not least, Flash had been attacked by two of the Duskull at once, his spiky fur jutting out in odd angles as he growled menacingly at them. The weaker of the two Duskull attempted to use Astonish, but the speedy Jolteon jumped out of the way with ease, slipping into a Quick Attack in order to avoid a Night Shade that had been sent his way by the other, and easily strongest of the spooks. The Jolteon knew he was by far quicker than either of these two and used his momentum to carry him away from the others in order to try and break up the chaos a little. As soon as he had a chance, he charged up a Thunderbolt and let it fly, though his intended target laughed tauntingly as it turned invisible, the electricity missing him completely.

Vileplume could only stare at Poliwhirl in awe, bringing a hand up to her mouth as she stared curiously at the Tadpole Pokemon. Erika was just as amazed as her Pokemon was, for neither of them had ever seen a Pokemon under the influence of Attract act in such a manner before. Erika touched a finger to her lip, feeling a little bad for the Water-type. Had he been able to fire off that Ice Beam, she wasn't sure how Vileplume would have handled it. The Flower Pokemon, on the other hand, was completely thankful that she'd not been subjected to another one of those icy rays. If she hated one thing more than anything else, it was the cold. "Mega Drain," the gym leader said again, after a few seconds of hesitation. Vileplume nodded slowly before once again sending out the green, draining aura.

Erika closed her eyes, and bowed her head slightly."Perhaps it would be in Poliwhirl's best interest if we were to discontinue the match?" she offered, her tone one of genuine concern. "I would not think any less of you as a trainer if you were to do so. However, if you wish to continue, that is acceptable as well. Please forgive my presumptuousness."

"...No. Poliwhirl is useless right now. I don't know why, but he's taken that Attract hard." Crenu watched as Poliwhirl was again taken by Vileplume's green aura, crying out once more as the energy was forced from his body. Poliwhirl was left on on one knee, still looking at the Vileplume with a dumbstruck look. He had nothing left, though if not for his affliction then he'd gladly keep this battle going. But even Crenu didn't fight hopeless battles. He recalled Poliwhirl to his pokeball, highly annoyed at the outcome. Though the outcome wasn't all that surprising, his team was at a disadvantage against grass types, and would be until he managed to get Snorunt and Swinub up to par with his other pokemon. "...You won handily Erika, you are well mannered and level headed in battle, save for that moment when you burt into laughter. Congratulations on defending you gym." Crenu offered her a bow before he turned to leave, not entirely sure where the exit was through the floral maze.

"...You gotta be shittin' me," Edward mumbled, his voice barely audible over the surprised murmuring of the crowd, which had been mostly silent since the redhead had revealed his hand.

"Heh, yeah, how's that for lucky?" Keegan chuckled, leaning forward to claim his winnings. First, he picked up his own Pokeball and grinned at it before reaching for the other, smirking up at the spectators around him. For some reason, the stunned looks on the faces of everyone around him was almost better than the fact that he'd just won himself a Pokemon. Almost.

"Man, I can't believe it," Edgar said, shaking his head and falling back in his seat. After a moment or so, he began to chuckle heartily. "I guess you showed me, eh?"

"Yeah, heh," Keegan nodded, suddenly feeling a bit guilty about the whole ordeal, and he shook his head. Why do I feel guilty? This whole thing was legit, he thought, but before he could stop himself, he'd stood up, finding it odd that the whole room seemed to shift upward with his movement and started to swirl marginally to the left. "Ed, you sure about this?" he asked, holding the sphere out while he clicked the one that belonged to him safely on his belt. "I wouldn't hold it against you if you changed your mind." Okay, now he was sure it was all those beers talking.

"What? No, it's fine, you won that fair and square," Ed chuckled, standing up as well, gesturing towards the ball. "It's all for the best, I think. We didn't get along so great anyway, maybe you'll have better luck with him. His name's Pan, by the way, though I should have called him Trouble."

"Trouble, eh?" Keegan repeated, looking down at the sphere. "Well, if you're sure. What is it, anyway?"

"Oh, Pan's a Treecko," Edward nodded. "And yes, I am sure. I bet he'll be much better off with you. But, you gotta do one thing for me." Keegan nodded a bit apprehensively as he set the sphere in one of his pockets, realizing that he didn't know much about Treecko at all. "What Pokemon did you wager? I gotta know, man."

It was Keegan's turn to laugh. "Oh." He held up the sphere one more time. "I wagered my Arbok. If you think your Treecko was a handful, you ain't seen nothing yet."

"I dunno, Pan's got a nose for trouble. I can guarantee it that he'll drive you up the wall in no time at all." The two had started walking away from the table, still chatting amiably about how much trouble the young Treecko would probably cause for Keegan, as by now almost everyone had left the hall and the remaining few stragglers were being shooed out. When they made it outside, Edward turned to Keegan, holding out his hand. "Well, it's been a good night. See you 'round, Red. And take good care of Pan, will you?"

"Sure thing," Keegan nodded, shaking Edward's hand. In actuality he couldn't believe how well this whole ordeal was going. He was sure it wouldn't end well, yet here they were, shaking hands like perfect gentlemen before going their separate ways. And he'd gotten a new Pokemon out of it, and one of the Hoenn starter Pokemon, at that. He didn't realize just how much he'd had to drink until he'd started walking, and it wasn't until he stumbled over his own two feet (or it could have been a rock, he really had no idea) and his drunken swagger came to an abrupt halt. "The ground is all wet," he mumbled, running his fingers through the dew-soaked blades of grass. "Really, really wet!" Before long the influence of the alcohol he'd consumed had made him start giggling like a schoolgirl, though it didn't last very long. Within a few moments, he'd passed out cold, right there on the grass.

For the most part Riza spent the first part of the trip just staring off out into the ocean, her trance like state only broken when she heard the cries of Diemia from overboard. Apparently the Corphish was quite finished with her swim and still holding Eris in her arms, she stood up and recalled the crab Pokemon into her poke ball. 'Figures,' she thought, heading back over to her seat where her other two Pokemon were, and she sat down. The young Cyndaquil had fallen asleep but Riza didn't want to recall her, so she just let the small Pokemon rest on her lap while she leaned back in her seat as well, closing her eyes.

The next thing Riza was aware of was the sound of the ship's horn blaring loudly. "We're in Vermilion already?" she mumbled, opening her eyes and looking around. The ship had docked at a small island, and Riza stood up and went over to the railing, looking around. "Are we at Vermilion now?" she asked one of the sailors.

"Oh no, not yet, Missy," he said with a laugh. "We're stopped at Dewford Island, but then we'll be heading to Vermilion. You might as well sit down and relax, it's a long ways yet." He doffed his had lightly and went back to work.

"Thanks for that," Riza sighed. Eris had awoken and was now looking around curiously, and Riza petted her head. "We're not there yet," she told the Cyndaquil. "But I really wish we were." She and the small fire mouse watched people climbing up and down the ramp, some people leaving, and some boarding the ship. Riza silently told the people to hurry up, and she sighed with relief when she saw the sailors starting to pull up the boarding plank. They paused for a brief second as one more passenger came running towards the ship, only just making it with a few minutes to spare as soon after that, the ship set out again. 'Wow, he must have really booked it to make it on time. And he looks sort of familiar too,' Riza thought, watching him flop down on the floor nearby. She was sure she'd seen him before, probably the other day at the beach party. He'd been friends with some of the others. 'Okay, at least the trip might be a little more interesting,' she thought, walking over to him and extending a hand. "Hey there," she said. "Need a hand up?"

"Noa, wing attack again! Here comes another one!" Katie directed, once again ducking as a Zubat dived at her. She didn't know why these Pokemon insisted on attacking like that, did they think she was here to invade their territory or something? The Staravia released a shrill, echoing cry and drove off this bat as well, flying alongside her trainer. So far she hadn't had a problem with them, but she couldn't help but hope they would reach the exit of this cavern soon.

The path was full of twists and sharp turns, and Katie had to slow her pace by quite a bit in order to avoid hitting rocks along the way, and naturally the Zubat hiding in the shadows took every opportunity to take a dive at her. Noa drove off each and every one of them, getting bitten a few times in the process and was also subjected to a few ear-violating screeches but for the most part was relatively unharmed. It wasn't until they could see the exit of the cave coming up in the distance where they encountered a problem, and Katie had to skid to a stop as suddenly a rather large bat with a huge gaping mouth and pointed fangs swooped down, screeching angrily.

"That must be a Golbat," Katie mused, having never seen one up close and personal before. Figuring that she could look it up in her pokedex later she pointed at it, figuring it was probably the effective boss of all the zubat in the area, and now wanted a piece of the Staravia that had been fighting off all his minions. Noa didn't appear to be frightened of the Golbat and spread her wings wide, letting out a sharp, intimidating cry. "Guess he wants to fight," Katie remarked. "Well, we'd better oblige him. Noa, use quick attack!"

Kilik heard the call of a Slowking and looked over his shoulder. "Oh look at that. Mittens has gotten herself into a battle." He stuffed the remaining useless TM into his bag and sat down on the damp grass. He felt his butt get wet from the dew. A chill ran up his spine. Treecko noticed that the disc wasn't flying around anymore. She crawled on all fours over to Kilik and sat in his lap, looking up at him wondering why the training had stopped. "We're gonna watch a real battle, Treecko. See?" he pointed a little down the ways to Mitsu, who was battling some other kid, using her Ivysaur. "Ivysaur is a Grass-type, just like you. But he can learn moves that you can't. But you learn lots of attacks that Ivysaur can't learn, either!" She frowned at this thought. Why would she watch a battle with a Pokemon who has nothing in common with her? She pouted slightly. "Mitsu's Pokemon is strong, but one day you'll be just as strong as her Ivysaur." Her expression changed into a smile and then she blushed, realizing it was a subtle compliment.

Giovanni sat in his actual bedroom, on the edge of his large and expensive bed. The man loosened his tie. "First, there's Kasiya," he began explaining to himself, raising his collar to remove the silk item. He tossed it into dirty clothes basket in the corner of the room. "She doesn't know it quite yet, but her power is uncanny. Of all the children, she is one of the strongest. I'm afraid if I don't get rid of her fast, she could become a real thorn in my side." He then removed both of his shoes, keeping them on the side of his bed to put them on in the morning. Next came his coat, which Giovanni removed delicately.

"Then there's Mike, the strongest of the children. The technology his mother used in making those gloves not only makes him a powerful physical threat but his Pokemon are strong as well. His Charizard is a real force to be reckoned with. Now that's he's cracked...well," he smirked and started laugh, "I doubt he'll cause much trouble." He began to unbutton his shirt, and hung both it and his jacket on a coat hanger near his bedroom door. He scowled as he began to unbuckle his belt.

When he finally was in his pajamas, Giovanni once again sat on the edge of the bed to contemplate. "Then there's Kilik...obviously not as powerful as the other two, but just as skilled. According to the PokeDex database, he's only carrying two of his Pokemon with him at the moment which makes him a very easy target. Without that Scizor or Aggron, he's not much of a trainer..." His brain clicked and he slammed his fist on the mattress, "But that Electabuzz of his! It's slowly becoming one of the most powerful Pokemon I've ever encountered. Coupled with Mike's Magmar they could very well spell out disaster if I don't get rid of them quickly. Hmm...I would like to see how they fare against Mec--" He growled when there was a knock on the door.

"WHAT COULD IT BE?" he roared, swinging the door open violently. "You know that this is always the time I go to bed. What do you..." he paused, looking at the Rocket Grunt's hand. There was a file in it. "What is that?"

Clearing his throat, the man handed it over. "Something we found, sir! IT has information over one of the children, sir!" He saluted and quickly ran off.

Giovanni flipped through the pages of the folder, his facial expression changing with each turn of the page. His eyes were wild and a large smirk rested on his lips. "Well...isn't this a surprise? I had completely forgotten..." He snapped his fingers. The lights went out immediately.

"Ivy!" Mitsu commanded leaping right into the fray of the battle, "Let's start off with our usual!"

Ivy complied, knowing exactly what to do. He backed up a few steps before unleashing poisonous powder onto the field, this time in a highly concentrated cloud that he puff out at the Slowking. Even if the Pokemon could dodge the attack or if he tried to get rid of it Ivy could always use whatever was left of it as their strategy often had been.

"Slowking, blast it away with a Water Pulse!" Justin countered equally as fast as Mitsu had launched their first attack. The Royal Pokemon grounded himself before loosing a blast of water from his mouth. The liquid morphed into several ring shapes that collided with the cloud of Toxic. The result was a copious amount of poisonous sludge on the ground in between the two Pokemon.

"Now!" Justin cried trying to take advantage of the break in between attacks. "Zen Headbutt!" Slowking nodded at his trainer's command before running on his slightly stubby legs, head lowered and glowing, head aimed a bit low as to clip the opposing Ivysaur.

Mitsu smiled. "Fell right into it," she commented a bit quietly to herself. "Ivy! Use your Vine Whip!" Ivy's vines short forth from behind his bud. Justin and his Slowking looked confused as his vines aimed toward the floor at the sludge.

Justin's face lit up when he realized what she'd been going after all along. "Dodge!" he shouted frantically, only he was too late. Ivy's vine had managed to flick a healthy amount of the toxic sludge, covering the Slowking's front easily. A slight purple aura surrounded him, signifying that he'd been severely poisoned.

The boy looked up, "I'll admit, that was a clever move." He sent another wink her way, making it almost completely obvious and overly dramatic. Mitsu mentally laughed, the boy was certainly odd. She hoped that he was wink wasn't anything serious. "Plenty more where that came from," she laughed feeling a bit more confident than usual.

"Alright Gramps, no more secrets. I wanna know what's the deal already! You said you had something for me if I won right?" Jason was as impatient as ever, but he couldn't help it. He was so excited, not only had he just won a match for the first time but he was also going to get a reward! The Daycare couple were so kind, he loved them both. He followed the old man back into the house and sat down in the chair, his leg shaking uncontrollably.

"Heh heh heh, alright alright. Just settle down for a second." The old man said with a light chuckle as he left Jason sitting in the chair and went out back. But when he came back, he only had a cup of tea with him. He sad down and started to drink it, smiling at the look on Jason's face. "Heh heh, you're to anxious. Ok dear, I think he'll explode it we don't give it to him soon." He said calling out to his wife.

Moments later the old daycare woman came out from the back holding a glass incubation container with a gray rough looking egg in it. "Oh ho ho ho, my you haven't changed Jason. you're going to have to grow up a little if you're going to be a fine professor some day. But not to much." She said with a wink as she gave Jason the container. "Well here you go son, your very own pokemon egg. Make sure you take care of it and the little one inside."

Jason couldn't believe his eyes, he nearly dropped the container as he just stared at it slack jawed. But he managed to tighten his grip in time and held it firmly as Zeus floated around aimlessly. "N-No way! Granny, is this really alright? I mean can you really just give me an egg like this? Oh my god, what's in it? This is so cool!" Mixed emotions, but mostly joy. Jason didn't know what to say or think right now, how could he? this was way to much for him to take in. But he just kept smiling with a stupid grin on his face.

"Ho ho ho, it's quite alright dear. The trainer that egg belonged to didn't want it and let us hang onto it. Now of course we were just going to raise it ourselves and keep it around like we normally would, but we also like giving out extra eggs like this to nice trainers. And since you're new at the whole thing we think it'll be a good experience for you."

"That's right." The old man chimed in. "It'll be good for ya. Oh but we can't tell ya what's in it Jason, it's a surprise. Oh but don't fret to much, that's part of the fun you know. And you shouldn't have to wait long either. We;ve been taking care of that egg for a bit and I think it'll be good and ready to hatch in a few days. Two or three I think, right around the time of that beach festival they're gonna have down in Slateport. Oh that reminds me, you gonna go there?"

Jason shook his head, the beach party was two days away so he had plenty of time, but he didn't really feel like going there. "Naw, no way Gramps. I'm gonna see where I can get to around here and get some research done on the local pokemon. I might head down though, I don't know." Jason looked at his new egg with great admiration, it was so cool. He was dying to find out what was in it! But despite that excitement, he couldn't help but yawn. He was getting tired, it had been a long day after all and was already starting to get dark. "Thank you so much, I really mean it..." But before he could say anything else he was fast asleep.

"Heh heh, some things never change do they dear?" Ht old man chuckled again, taking the egg from Jason and setting it on the table. He looked at Jason for a moment, amazed at how fast he'd fallen asleep and that he was still sitting up straight mouth open and everything. He got him to lay down on the couch he was on while the old woman covered him with a blanket. "He'll be a fine trainer and researcher some day. Come on, I'm getting pretty tired myself." With that the old couple went off to bed and left Jason and his new egg to rest. Zeus continued to hover around seemingly undeterred, keeping an eye on Jason the entire night.

Rosemary's Reflect certainly was doing a good job of protecting her as the attacking Shuppet found that her Faint Attack wasn't as effective as she'd thought it'd be, and this annoyed her. The ghost's eyes narrowed before she let out an ear-splitting screech, causing Kasiya and all of her Pokemon to cringe a little. "Aaauuugh, Rosemary, Nova, attack that one together! Magical Leaf and Flamethrower, go!" It wasn't until after she issued the commands that she realized mixing Fire and Grass-type attacks probably wasn't the smartest of ideas, but when she saw the glowing green leaves spiraling along around the flames, some of which starting to burn slightly, she changed her mind. The Shuppet's screeching came to an abrupt halt as the two attacks struck her at the same time, causing quite a lot of damage. The Pokemon's face was twisted in pain and anger, and though it considered fleeing, she held her ground for now. The other Shuppet, the one that Nova had attacked earlier didn't appear to be deterred by the suffering of her teammate and sped forward, slamming the young Charmander with a Knock Off. Nova stumbled back, having already taken quite a hit from the Night Shade before, and she was already feeling quite weak and tired.

Meanwhile, Twilight continued to stand under the defensive barrier provided by Protect, though it had the disadvantage of not allowing the Umbreon to see what was going on around him. Cautiously he dropped the Protect barrier, unaware that the Duskull had floated around behind him, ready to strike. The Requiem Pokemon's single eye began to shine red before several wisps of blue fire appeared in a ring around him, which he then directed at the oblivious Umbreon. Twilight let out a pained screech as the flames from the Will-o-Wisp scorched his body in several places, but it wouldn't be without retribution. The blue rings on the Umbreon's body seemed to glow a little brighter for a second, and suddenly the Duskull found it's own body to be covered in painful burns now as well, thanks to Twilight's Synchronize ability.

Leviathan, meanwhile had successfully driven back the Shuppet that had come after her for now, and it hung back a bit, quite reluctant to attack for the moment. The other Shuppet, however, had no second thoughts about attacking and it's eyes began to glow with a deep, violet aura before it lobbed a Shadow Ball at the Marshtomp. Levi held her ground and kept her gaze fixed on the partially incorporeal Puppet Pokemon, concentrating deeply. "Marsh!" she called, pointing a flipper at the Shuppet, who's body flickered slightly. Suddenly feeling a lot heavier the Shuppet cried out fearfully, and at Levi's direction, Digger raced forward, springing up and rearing back a claw, which had begun to shine with a bright, white light. He hadn't expected it to work, but the Sandslash's eyes widened when he felt his Crush Claw attack make full contact with the surprisingly tangible ghost Pokemon, sending it crashing to the ground, no longer able to continue fighting.

The two Duskull that had been double-teaming Flash both seemed to be enjoying themselves, as even though the Jolteon was much faster than either of them, it was almost far too easy for them to keep out of reach of the Jolteon's electrical attacks. The first Duskull decided that she'd had enough of the wild Thunderbolts Flash was flinging around, as noted by the one she just dodged, and with an eerie crimson glow in her eye, laughed vindictively, causing a chill to run down the Jolteon's spine. Suddenly he couldn't remember what attack he'd been using, and he stopped abruptly, a puzzled expression on his face. The male Duskull took this opportunity to rush forward, screeching horribly before it slammed into Flash and passed directly through him for a nice use of Astonish. Again Flash shivered and he dropped to his belly, flinching in fright. He suddenly did not want to do this anymore!

Just because she'd spent the majority of the evening in a fancy hotel room sipping on a fine white wine didn't mean it had been an evening of peaceful relaxation for Mai as she was still following Giovanni's orders. She herself had not attended the Gala that evening, but instead sent the three Rocket grunts she'd brought with her instead to do the tedious surveillance work. The three of them were still fairly new to the whole Rocket experience but Mai had hand-picked them out of more than two dozen hopefuls, able to see the potential they each had. Now that the Gala was over, Mai had the daunting task of sorting through the information they had found in order to figure out which of the children were going to Sinnoh. Not as many as they thought were making the initial trip, but it was still important to take note of them. At this point, they had confirmed that six of the children would be departing tomorrow at noon and Mai quickly faxed the information to Giovanni via the use of a secure line.

"There, he can do what he wants with that information," she mumbled, shutting her laptop and stretching. She picked up her wine glass, swirling the liquid around a bit before she enjoyed a sip, and she swiveled around in her chair to face the rest of her room. Her Espeon, Serenity, was curled up on the bed, sleeping soundly, and Mai smiled. The loyal Psychic-type certainly knew how to enjoy the lap of luxury. The Pokemon sitting next to her, however, really did not, as she'd been sitting in the same spot for hours, staring down at a candid photo of her trainer that had been taken by one of the undercover grunts. Mai just scoffed and looked away, but she couldn't help but feel a small twinge of guilt. Annoyed at herself, she shook her head and glanced at the clock; it was quite late and she knew she should be turning in for the night soon, but the wine had left her feeling quite warm and she decided to step outside for a few moments to cool off.

She opened the sliding door that lead to the balcony, sighing with relief as the wind tossed around her pale blonde hair. The concrete was cool beneath her bare feet, and she placed her hands on the railing, looking up at the gorgeous night sky. Her suite was a nice one, situated on the main floor yet still quite spacious, but such accommodations were to be expected of a high ranking Rocket admin such as herself, even if she was here on business. It would be nice to have an actual vacation though, she thought.

It took a few moments for Jaeshan to realize that someone was talking to him, and he opened his eyes, a little surprised to see a familiar figure standing before him, and he smiled. "Oh, hey Riza," he said, taking her hand and allowing her to help him get to his feet. He was good with names, though with all the people he'd met yesterday it was surprising that he'd managed to remember hers. "Is that Cyndaquil yours? It's really cute," he added, before having a quick look around to see if there was anyone else he knew on board before looking back to the raven-haired girl. "So... why are you heading back to Slateport?" he asked, wondering why she'd be going back there so soon. After all, the Beach Party had only been a day or two ago.

When Crenu recalled his Poliwhirl, Erika relaxed a little and stepped down from her platform. She made her way over to Vileplume's side and rested a hand on the Flower Pokemon's petals. "You were excellent today, Vileplume," she told the Pokemon before recalling her into her Pokeball. "Rest up now, we might have other challengers today." She looked towards Crenu and returned his bow. "Thank you," she said. "But please, you do not have to leave right away. Would you care to join me for a cup of tea? I could also see to it that your Pokemon's injuries are treated as well." She gestured to a small, vine-covered archway, nearly invisible except to those who already knew it was there. "Of course, if you have other obligations you must see to, I will not keep you from them."

She wasn't sure how long she stood there on the balcony, if one could even call it a balcony, seeing as it was on the main floor. In reality, it was more of a closed-in patio, though it did sit a few feet off the ground, but it was still nice to get outside anyway. The wine had made Mai feel very warm, and the cool breeze made her shiver a little. She drew her robe a little closer to her body, knowing she should go inside and try to get some sleep, as she had a very busy day tomorrow, but she decided to linger outside for a few moments longer.

She'd been just about ready to turn around and head back inside when she heard a thudding noise, like someone falling, from nearby, followed by what could only be described as girlish giggling. "What the hell...?" Mai mumbled, realizing that it had come from around the corner. It's probably just some stupid kid that had too much to drink at the Gala, she thought, throwing off her robe and grabbing her long coat. That'll make them easy pickings though, she thought as she slipped on her shoes. She made sure she was armed as she recalled her sleeping Espeon, and she turned to the tawny rodent still sitting quietly on the bed. "Let's go, Raichu," she said, snapping her fingers at the Electric-type. The mouse didn't move from her spot on the bed; instead she just gave Mai a blank look, one ear twitching in aggravation. Mai sighed and rolled her eyes. "Okay, fine. Let's go, Shocker," she said, emphasizing the Raichu's name with obvious annoyance. Shocker replied with a smug grin but hopped down from the bed before joining Mai on the balcony.

The admin slid the door closed behind them and swung a long leg over the railing, following quickly with the other. She landed on the pavement a few feet below with a soft thud, and she crouched low, beckoning to the mouse to her side. "Okay Rai... Shocker, since you're smaller and faster, you go have a look first. But, if they so much as look at you funny, fry 'em." Shocker just stared at Mai for a moment or two, letting the orders sink in. If she was threatened, even by a human, she was supposed to attack them? It seemed really strange to hear, as Kasiya would never have asked her to do such a thing. She nodded though, somehow compelled to obey Mai. Besides, she was curious as to what that noise had been as well. Keeping low to the ground, the Raichu made her way forward, small bolts of static electricity escaping her cheeks in her excitement. She carefully peeked around the corner, tilting her head a little when she saw that it was a person, lying face-first on the ground.

Her curiosity piqued, Shocker ventured forward. She could hear the human snoring softly, and she couldn't help but wonder who would just flop down and sleep on the grass like that. She crept ever closer, now catching his scent. He smelled really familiar, though it wasn't until she saw the mop of red hair that she realized that it was Keegan. "Chuu?!" she exclaimed, reaching out and poking him with her paw. When he didn't stir, she prodded harder. "Raaii chuuu!" she cried, planting several kicks to his side as well, though all to no avail. She frowned, and glanced over her shoulder where she knew Mai was waiting. If she couldn't get him to wake up and soon, Mai was gonna take all his Pokemon! She didn't want to do this, but he'd left her no choice. Gritting her teeth, Shocker turned around and touched the tip of her tail against his shoulder, and closed her eyes. Concentrating so that she wouldn't kill the poor boy, she took a deep breath and released (somewhat weak...?) jolt of electricity into his body, the flash brightly illuminating the entire area.

Crenu paused for a moment at Erika's words. An offer like that would be shot down before it was even asked, but from her it was different. He really didn't have anywhere to go, and as soon as he left this gym he was sure he'd run into Ken. That alone send an uncomfortable shiver down his spine, and Erika's company was sure to be quiet and peaceful. "...That sounds good." She had defeated in him battle soundly, so he respected her. A request like this was easy to grant. He turned and nodded, making his way to the vine-covered archway.

"My Pokemon!" Anne cried out, her Tentacool flopping on the ground pitifully after Napalm's devastating attack. She returned the jellyfish, gently caressing the Pokeball. "Tyler, what do we do?" she whispered, more than a hint of fright in her voice. She was quite hesitant to send out her next one after being taken out in one attack.

"I don't know," he replied, returning his own Pokemon. "Maybe we can take him with our two stronger guys?" Tyler was in a pickle. On one hand, he couldn't allow him to be showed up in front of his girl, but on the other hand, this nut was clearly in another league.

Mike stood there behind his Pokemon, his body slightly hunched over. A short, quick giggle escaped from the boy every so often.

"No, we can take him." Tyler stood up, his voice and posture regaining their confidence. "Yeah, last round was just a fluke. Critical hits and all. There's no way we can lose with these two!" Both kids threw in their last Pokeballs, revealing a Seel and a Poliwhirl.

Another cackle escaped the boy. "Two more water Pokemon, how predictable." He motioned to his own monsters. "Piece of cake!"

It was a misty morning. The rhythmic sounds of nature played out softly as a tower loomed out of the mist. An ancient tower, grand despite the appearance of a great fire once taking place there. The area long since abandoned by people and pokemon alike. Except for a lone figure that stood training in the morning dew.

Every few moments there was a loud "thunk" from the water feature in a nearby pond. With every hollow ring the figure took a swing of what appeared to be a rather long katana. Suddenly the figure broke from the rigor as if under attack. Dodging to the left and weaving back to the right she quickly moved toward several large targets that lay around her. One by one swinging and felling an imaginary foe with gleaming eyes...

As the last target fell to the ground the mists began to clear. Suddenly the form was revealed. A young girl of 17 with matted blond hair that reached just past her shoulders. She wiped the sweat from her brow along her long red sleeve. Her outfit seemed to be a clash of traditional Japanese culture and a more modern look. She wore a body-fitting black hoodie that was sleeveless. On top of the hoodie was a white vest. On her arms were long sleeves that ended in open-fingered gloves. She wore rather baggy shorts that seemed to be a modified form of the Samurai Hakama.

I thought we were going to get out of here, a quiet female voice stated. The girl turned to the source of the noise, on a rock a few feet from the battle zone sat a small blue and beige pokemon-a Cyndaquil.

"Of course. We've still got plenty of time to leave Kokoro." The blonde said, apparently not disturbed by the talking pokemon. "Besides, I've trained like this for the past 10 years. There's no point in just giving up a good discipline like swordsmanship just because I'm heading off on a journey. You aren't the only one that needs to be able to defend yourself if things get rough."

I suppose that's true. But do you have to be so... enthusiastic? They were just straw targets. I don't know if you realize it Claire, but you tend to go a little crazy when you train. The pokemon stretched and hopped down from the rock as her trainer began to put away her weaponry and other training tools. "C'mon, I know what I'm doing..." the girl said as she turned away. "When you fight you have to do the unexpected and hit hard so they can't respond. You really could learn from my 'enthusiasm' as you put it."

You're hopeless. The Cyndaquil sighed as it jumped up onto Claire's shoulder. "I'm just glad I can finally get to the bottom of this." The girl looked up at the immense building she had working under. Despite living around it her whole life, she knew very little about the so called Burned Tower. What had really happened 10 years ago? Why did the tower just suddenly burst into flames and where were her parents during it all? It was their job to look after the tower after all.

Whatever the reasoning, Claire knew there was more to it than just a simple accident. The girl absent mindedly put her hand to her chest. She felt a small and strangely comforting warmth radiating from the Rainbow Wing she kept on a necklace below her shirt.

Everything put away, the girl and her Pokemon walked beyond the wall surrounding the Tower Complex. Their journey had only just begun...

He let out a low whistle. "Impressive move on Mitsu's part." The boy was stroking the top of Treecko's scaly head, watching the battle intently. Kilik nearly got up to punch the kid when he made the over-the-top and quite obvious wink at Mitsu. The boy stood up again, Treecko climbing up to his shoulder. She wondered why her trainer was acting so odd now. First he sits down then he stands up. If he were to start walking in circles, she'd really be confused. Crossing his arms, Kilik was ready for the next round of battle. "That Slowking doesn't stand a chance," he smirked. "Stupid Psychic-types." A sigh escaped him. Just the mention of Psychic-type Pokemon made his blood run cold. It brought him thoughts of Nina and Sabrina, both of whom he hadn't seen in forever. He shook his head. "It's for the best. Nina was just emotional baggage that I didn't need. Mitsu's different," he smiled brightly, all his negative emotions suddenly leaving him as soon as they had come and his blood returned to normal. "She's a joy to have around." Who was Nina? The Grass-type tilted her head in confusion and then sighed. This was such a weird boy.

"My name is Gary Oak, and I'm the best trainer in Pallet Town!" The cocky young boy entered his Gym, with a group of females to act as cheerleaders. Giovanni smirked on his balcony, his face hidden by shadows.

"Well, let's see how well you live up to it. Go, Golem!" He pulled a Pokeball from his jacket and it popped open in his hand, the large boulder Pokemon emerging on the field. The challenger let loose a powerful Nidoking, the beast stomping his feet into the ground. "Golem, Tackle attack." Giovanni smirked.

"Use your Tackle against his Tackle, Nidoking!" Gary called out, throwing his hand up into the air. The purple behemoth roared and charged towards the rolling rock. With a single smash of his horn, the Golem went the other direction and was KO'd easily. Giovanni's lip twitched.

"Impressive," he said, recalling the fallen Golem, "Now let's see how you fair against this one." The man released a Kingler - much different than the one he was using now, weaker too - and the crab Pokemon swung his mighty claw. Instead of battling it with Nidoking, however, the challenger recalled him and sent out an Arcanine instead. It wasn't long before Kingler had been defeated by the canine. Clicking his tongue, Giovanni recalled his Pokemon.

"Gary! Gary! He's the best! He's the one to beat the rest!" the girls cheered. The boy lifted his hand and smiled, lowering his head.

"Oh, sometimes I wonder why I was cursed with such talent."

"You're cocky, boy," Giovanni said, stepping forward so that everyone may see him. "Let's see how you fair against my...most powerful Pokemon." Snapping his fingers, a door opened on the Gym floor, revealing a strange Pokemon encased in armor. Gary took a step back. "Use two Pokemon if you wish, you'll never defeat this Pokemon!"

"...Go Nidoking!" Gary called, throwing the ball, "You too, Arcanine!" The two Pokemon went charging towards the odd armored being and suddenly found themselves lifted up into the air, surrounded by a mysterious blue aura. "Arcanine! Nidoking!" Gary pleaded before he saw them get flung across the room into the wall.

"No matter how hard you try, this Pokemon can never be defeated!" Giovanni began to laugh before Gary fell to his knees in defeat.

The man shot up like a bullet in his bed, panting heavily. Why was he remembering that battle? Mewtwo was much to powerful for any trainer to handle. He could remember that clearly. Falling back on his pillow, Giovanni growled and he pounded his fist onto the mattress before falling asleep once more a few moments later.
