I hardly ever get Fangoria because (with a few exceptions), I like Rue Morgue better...I feel I get more bang for my buck. They had an awesome Clive Barker article awhile back.
Do wither of you read the Abarat books?
PostPosted: Thu Oct 12, 2006 8:20 pm

This is true. I cannot watch PotP when I'm angry with my mom if the world wants to stay fairly undamaged. You think I already have fits when my mom and I get into fight. If I try to watch PotP in the middle of one of these fits...no. I'd go on a compulsive rampage of some sort.

*Goes ******** nuts*

DUDE!

CLIVEBARKERISONEOFTHEGENIUSAUTHORSOFTHEWORLDANDABARATISONEOFMYABSOLUTEFAVORITEBOOKSOFALLTIME!

LETHEO IS MY SON!!!

*Ahem*

Yeah, as it stands currently, there are two authors who seem to have a completely uncanny ability to write things that I can completely like, identify with, and agree with. One is Chris Wooding, and the other is Clive Barker.

And about Letheo...that's a really weird story.

!SPOILER! Okay, so I had this character a while back, 'round in '01-03. I created him as this were-lizardperson, with a sweet, but slightly cowardly and unstable personality, who was terribly uncomfortable about his werelizardness and who worked for the main character in the story's enemy, but eventually came around to help her, but still acted as though he had loyalties toward her enemy. !ENDSPOILER!

Problem was, as the story became this huge deal that I became just about obsessed with, I, to my great dismay, found that this character didn't work very well for the story as he was. I was in denial of it for a while, but all the while I kept thinking "I wish somebody would come up with a similar character so that the idea won't go to waste and I can rest easy."

Around the time I started having these thoughts, an old friend of mine had discovered the first Abarat book, roughly when it first came out. I was vaguely intrigued for some reason, and I was willing to give almost any book a shot to see if it had a similar character to mine, even be the other werewolf or something of the like. Because, who even thinks of werelizards?

I read the first Abarat, and, while I thought it was pretty cool, it didn't really stay with me upon the first reading (being basically a setup for the rest of the story).

So I forgot about it a while, until I ended up noticing something about a book signing with Clive Barker and the first ever public viewing of his Abarat art. To this day I have no idea what compelled me to do it, but I convinced my mom to let me go to it. Not like he was anyone special at the time.

Few days later, I see the Abarat book in the bookstore, and must have it. (Weirdly enough, this was the only store I could find that held PotP later, and also where the girl who introduced me to the Abarat series got the second book too.) Somehow, god knows how, I convince my mom to buy it, and on the way home, the picture of Letheo on the cover catches my eye, and without knowing anyhthing about him, I think "I like him."

When I get home, I start reading, and this time, get really hooked. And then the Letheo part comes. I thought I liked it then. Now I'm literally flipping out: Screaming, jumping up and down, probably would have been doing handsprings if I had room.

He. Is. The. Carbon. Copy. Of. My Character. Same personality, same condition...only real difference is that he's written by Clive Barker.

So when I go to the book signing, I cannot resist mentioning what an awesome character he is.

Winslow might be my fictional lover, but Letheo is my fictional son.

And if he ends up dying somewhere along the line, god help the world.

Did you hear Disney has a movie in the works? If they mess up his character.... scream

And so much for my Letheo rant. I need help.

Weird. I'd never before heard of it.

Heey! I want to play with it too.

Yes. Isn't it lovely?

Hahahaha! You're the first one to get my avatar straight off the bat and not be all like "OMG BRAINDAMAGE!" Have a cookie!

Happy thanksgiving to you, too. Canadian Thanksgiving, right? The States' Thanksgiving is in November.

And it seems we all have procrastinating problems. Waugh.

Whew. I'm back. I've had quite a busy week.

Yeah, I just feel like I've seen that title before somewhere.

But you can't! blaugh You said you just want his body. Just his body! Too bad! Aww, just kidding *hands the helmetmask to Thorn so she can participate in the playing-with-ness of the mask* Ha...words not flowing so smoothly right now. Sleepy.

Yes!

And now you even have a siggy to go with it. It's kind of scary, just because it's you. Flowers and sunshine and pink hair aren't particularly Thorn-ish. It's more suited to my personality than yours. Still, that'd be going overboard even for me xd Thanks for the cookie! *happily eats the cookie*

Omigosh, I had another "blonde moment!" Yeah, in Canada. I went into the PotO thread and I was like "Happy Thanksgiving!" And everyone was like "Umm...what?" eek

Yes, much procrastinating. Why do today what you can put off till tomorrow? Kidding! I hope I'm not quite that bad. sweatdrop

Anyway, I'd write a bit more but I'm really quite tired. Long day at school. From 8:30 to 6:00-ish. *yawns* And in my last class of the day I started to feel kinda woozy.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 19, 2006 8:55 pm

Hope it wasn't busy in a bad way.

Yay! I can have both!

But...but smooth word flowing is good! gonk

rofl Everybody seems fairly disconcerted by my avatar and sig. And my flowers and sunshine and pink hair will PWN your a** someday, young lady! Just wait!

Hehe. Luckilly I know quite a few Canadians, so I got it.

Oh, but I am.

Ohman, I feel the exact same way right now. Sleep deprevation!

College. X.X

Film club showed Eurotrip after the exam for unofficial "chill out". What a surreal experience.

I just had to say the Carrion/Motley fight at the end of Days of Magic, Nights of War made me weepy. Nasty Stitchlings...ewww.

I'm hoping to go for video game design or computer science. Mmm. What're you majoring in?

Sounds pretty cool. I've never seen Eurotrip.

Ohman, yes. I love Clive Barker because he sees the "shades of gray" in terms of te villanous characters. Like, they're not evil just to be evil, but they are fighting for something they have a reason to want. Carrion was so disrespected by everyone.

Candy reminds me of myself, a bit.

Film Studies (such as History and Theory)
Very fun!
Vieo Gaming would be fun to go into. I heard UCF has a program in that.
I heard Mr. Barker is going to kill off Pinhead. I wonder when and how?
Le sigh.

Nice.

Poor Pinhead. Yes, I do wonder those things myself.

*walks into the thread and lays down* Sleepy again.

Thoorn! I missed you! It's been so long...I hope you didn't think I abwandoned you!

How are things?

*tries to hold it back but can't any longer* Guess who got PotO tickets?!!! *jumps up and down with giddy excitement* rofl WOOOO!

I would type more, but I had quite a long day, during which I was sleepy the whole time. And I'm possibly going to get a tattoo with one of my friends, but I can't decide which one....So I've been spending hours trying to decide. And no, I'm not going to get a picture of Winslow xd

Sorry I've been away for so long...again. I'll try to come on here more oft--*falls asleep*

Yes, you may.

Smooth word flowing is indeed favourable.

*sings* Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows *starts humming because she doesn't know all the words*

Yay for Canadian-ness!

More like I abandoned you. I forgot to reply for a few days now. X.X

Things are...good? *Shiftyshifty*

Turns out I'm not a real Winslow phangirl, according to my website anymore, but heh, I'll be the judge of that when I update!

Uhh...some bum on the street named George?

Haha, seriously, congratulations.

*Jumps on you* Wake up! Smell the coffee!

I didn't know that was a song.

Yeah, Canada (Winnipeg) and Ohio have the coolest stuff. *Pout*

You know, I may keep my avatar a bit longer just for...err...undercover reasons. *Snicker*
PostPosted: Wed Nov 22, 2006 7:03 pm

It's alright. It happens to us all ^^

I'm glad that things are good. 3nodding

Hah! How can you of all people not be a Winslow phangirl? Your own site is against you, eh?

Thank you ^___^

Coffee? Thank you! I take mine black with two sugars. =D

Yes. It actually is. Quite an old song, too, I believe.

Aww, poor Thorn, not getting to go to Winslowpalooza *cough* --I mean Phantompalooza.

Undercover reasons? *starts humming the Mission Impossible theme* I didn't know you were a secret agent.

*tries to think of a PotP-ish topic that hasn't already been discussed on this thread or the PotP thread*

Yup, pretty much. That is: I realized that something I mention in that list was an assumption based on too little information, and completely changed my opinon on it. *Cough*MarilynManson*Cough*

Sugars? Like sugar cubes? Never actually seen those. I like my coffee either black or with a little cream.

Yup. *Tear*

Well, now you do. Don't tell anybody.

Uhm...comment on my sig? whee

Hey, you ever heard of the band Cradle of Filth? I'm in love with them. I may have found a PotO reference in one of the songs. It's mentioned in the Journal Pages thread.
